We differentiate between truly good and successful. Not necessarily the same. For example many people would argue that 50 Shades of Gray was a very successful book, but not any shade of good.6 points

If a developer's name starts with the letter B and it lives long enough, it will end up becoming a villain. Blizzard, Bioware, Batman, Bethesda. Also, not snobs but holders of the one and only incontrovertible truth.5 points

I was going to post about what I did last weekend yesterday, but I was completely knackered after work so I fell asleep. Aaaanyway, @Pidesco invited me to fika on Saturday and so I met him and his lovely family! I had a great time chatting for a few hours about everything between heaven and earth, though in my exitement to go meet him I actually forgot to bring my GPU. So on sunday we met a second time and this time I handed over my massive GPU, which ofcourse led to some more discussions and some fika Eventually we agreed to meet up again, and this time to remember to take a picture to commemorate the meeting! So thank you to Pidesco for a couple of awesome eve's!5 points

Yeah, I'm kind of in the "too much D:OS2" camp. There's some really good stuff in it. But there's may not enough of what I loved most about Baldur's Gate. I'm particularly not a fan of the origin system. It turns companion quests into these drawn out affairs that need to have one development per chapter. What Baldur's Gate 2 really did not need was Minsc wasting all of Act 1 pretending he didn't have a hamster in his pocket. Yet that's pretty much what that Warlock and Vampire guy are doing. Have they said anything about if they're still committed to locking off areas every chapter?4 points

Addition: but if y'all actually organized a forum party near me I'd probably make an exception and go*. I might even wear something besides my cat nightshirt for the occasion. But I'm not going to be the one to plan it, darnit. * I figure I'm safe saying that since it'll never actually happen, right?3 points

I should add that I'm playing the game with Russian VO and English subtitles, for the maximum realistic experience. Well, I guess maximum realistic would be Russian VO and Russian subtitles or no subtitles, but then I wouldn't understand what anyone is saying.2 points

Some early thoughts on Chernobylite: The game is not exactly what I expected. It's part first person... adventure, I guess, and part management game. After the prologue you have a base which you can furnish. There is a building system where you can craft stations, gear, furniture, etc. You can the put these wherever you want. The basic gameplay loop is that you assign people to go on missions, including yourself. There is a chance of success indicated by a percentage based on a number of factors, except for you since chance of success is obviously determined by gameplay. You start with 1 other person, Olivier, and you can recruit more as you go along. People can die on missions or depending on your choices (supposedly there are multiple endings). You complete missions to satisfy prerequisites for the main mission, which is to enter the plant, and to get supplies. You need to assemble a crew and get intel and gear to do the main mission. The game so far is quite light on combat, which is fine with me. Radiation has been the biggest threat for me. There is a time travel mechanic. When you die you return to this sort of nether world where you can return to things you did previously and change choices if you wish. Chernobylite is not what I thought it would be, but I'm enjoying it so far. The environments are very immersive, both visually and especially audibly. The sound design in the game is top notch. Don't expect a shooty shooty action game, though.2 points

The official gamepedia wiki has all ability icons, too: https://pillarsofeternity.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Pillars_of_Eternity_II:_Deadfire_images_-_Ability_icons Don't know if you can get them as a bunch of files somehow or if you'll have to download them one by one though.2 points

I think you need a Unity development kit to get at that stuff. I think some people may have provided some icon sheets from PoE1 on Nexusmods. Krystina Haggerty seems to have done at least some of the icons - it looks like their handle is Tigrin. You can find some examples on their deviantart page or personal website: http://tigrin.net/illustration Many thanks to Boeroer (below) for their work on the Community patch icons, which are a neat alternative for you: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/3352 points

It would require planning, and leaving the house. Edit: I've met three 'net people in my life, all in my late 20's. Ppl I met on a depression newsgroup/usenet back in the day. It was all interesting but typically I just try to keep things separated these days.2 points

I met a couple of other people that I first got to know on the 'net, but I didn't have a drivers licence and regular work up until recently so it's mainly been because of a lack of money that I haven't met more. I missed out on a couple of guild meetups in the UK because I couldn't pay the plane tickets. I resemble that remark I'm on my 5th so far in 2.5 hours, I'll remember to bring some grinds next time so I don't drink you out of your house! I'm sure that everyone could hear me speak too at times It was awesome, and I'm looking forward to the next time!2 points

I don't think streaming services have to disclose viewership numbers, so we don't necessarily know how many people watch Nu Trek shows. I think CBS and Paramount are desperately trying to generate as much content as possible for their platforms, quality of said content is secondary to quantity. There are 764,423,227 different paid streaming services right now, that is not a sustainable model. Eventually things will shake out leaving only a handful.2 points

Just ran a few tests with Hunter's Claw & friends and it is definitely bugged. I'm not the first one to run into it : [4.1.2] hunter's claw is extremely busted in all sorts of ways (topic originally was "weird weird bug: different kinds of 'beasts'") - Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!) - Obsidian Forum Community Arguably "strand of favor" level of broken. But given th "per rest" way it works, I haven't use it much until now. After testing again a bit, the ability is indeed completely corrupted by save/reload cycles. It seems to work fine in a single battle, even with different "types" of "races" (tested with zombie, animat, skeleton). So basically, the only clean way to fix it is to alter it so it wear off at the end of combat (and change the values accordingly). I know it wasn't the initial philosophy of the ability, but I can't think of another way. So Hunter's Claw & upgrades will be : - 1 bond per use - +2 Accuracy (resp. +2 all defenses, +2% damages) per hit, lasts until end of combat against the first targetted type of creature. - Up to 10 stacks (same total of +20) In case both weapons connect, it would be +4 accuracy until end of battle per use (on top of a full attack giving a bit of extra damages). Not much, but the "last until end of battle" enables some grinding (and acc/defenses provide increasing return). Upgrade makes it much better. What do you think about it ? Note : apparently, Sun & Moon still enables it to get an extra charge per cast.2 points

there is nothing left of blizzard which did D2 or WC3. its just label, shell of good old company. Buying Blizzard game these days is like buying turd in golden foil. Even remake of D2 have to be done by someone outside of Blizzard so its not crap as what they pulled on reforged...1 point

I ask because it's usually the Serbs who emigrate because they don't like the country or couldn't make it work here, dislike anyone who is patriotic or has anything good to say about Serbia. I am of course generalizing, but that seems to be the case most of the time. Then again some people just dislike him (I know a few).1 point

I *think* they (or the wife at least) is a bit homesick for Serbia. They had planned to go back for an "extended vacation" this winter (that's summer time in Europe, i.e. July/August). Obviously not going to happen. We sometimes sit and watch pictures and google earth/streetview from her home town and hear the stories about them having to take cover when Nato planes were bombing the area.1 point

The peddlers secret language; https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Månsing It's a bit dissapointing that there's no english version, but there are a few words in that list that I use alot, fika, skinn-paj(leather coat), tjacka(Buy, also is used with another word to describe someone that uses heroin and sells her body), lacka +ur(Getting angry at someone9, sno(Steal), stålar(money), "spänn" is typically the word I use instead of "kronor"/SEK.1 point

Well he will do ok with it. Just do not expect anything spectacular. Engagement bonus on polearm is useless as you tank with deflection, not endurance so loosing shield for tanking fighter is big no-no. On other hand its marking weapon so it will work. But I think someone like Pellagina with coordinated attack will make better use of it1 point

We have had a couple of RL meetups but they have been, of course, very rare. I remember Eldar met with someone else a couple of times, but I can't recall who. Myself I met Rosbjerg 11 years ago when we went together to Roskilde. At one point Krezack, Allanschu and Gorgon might have joined us, but sadly they ended up backing out. Otherwise I'm friend on facebook with a few forum denizens. I just spoke with allanschu today, there, for instance. I also have Bokishi, Role-Player, Kor Qel Droma(he's a grandpa now!), Drabek, Muso, and Kirottu there if I recall correctly? Oh, and Rosbjerg, of course. Thinking about it there are surely more. Anyway meeting @Azdeus, the serial coffe drinker, was very awesome, and we are sure to get together again. Also it is great to be able to talk about gaming again, you know, with actual voices involved. I can't believe I totally forgot it, but I met Tigranes once for dinner, when he visited Lisbon for some conference thing.1 point

no, slavery was slavery and it was called slavery while it was being embraced by far too many. slavery were immoral and inhuman(e), and over those points there were argument, but nobody quibbled over what it was. you is reversing and doing for slavery what you do for taxation-- you are the one attempting to forcible use an inapplicable definition for that which is already clear defined. slavery is not a jobs program precise 'cause it involves involuntary servitude and the jobs programs preclude the ability o' the owner o' the employed to sell the employee. involuntary servitude and ability to sell the employed would make a jobs program not a jobs program but slavery. duh. taxation is not theft. perhaps you think is immoral, which is severe undercut by your admitted everyday hypocrisy. clear you don't think is equivalent to the wrong o' slavery which you tried to make analogous, otherwise such would make you complicit to equivalent immorality and inhumanity, which is improbable. by definition, theft is an illegal and/or felonious taking. stop. serious, just stop. HA! Good Fun! ps you wanna argue taxation is immoral and inhumane? fine. given your admitted hypocrisy am gonna laugh at you and your dramatic exclamation points. silliness. even so, is your opinion taxation is wrong. converse, claim taxation is theft is a question o' fact, and you are wrong, factually.1 point

I try to be careful about what info gets out on the net so I can relate. You all don't really think all those pictures I posted over the years are really me, do you? I hired a model ages ago. If you open and resave the video in most editors, you can opt to remove/not have the embedded metadata/EXIF included. I do that with my camera/photos too if I'm posting to the 'net. Course that's an extra step. I think there are ways to elect to remove it in-phone too, but you'd have to Google that, probably depends on phone system/apps etc.1 point

Yeah from the beginning they said HoM&M was going to be their inspiration for the strategic-level mini-game battles. I believe some of their devs worked on HoM&M. I myself don't care for that type of battles, and a dev told me in the KS forum it would be optional and the game will allow that mini-game to be automated.1 point

Outstanding. Keep it tight mate! Ryngrim’s Enervating Terror is so good. Everything about it is neat: duration, radius, targeting Will which combo with Miasma, double affliction, lowers RES, triggers Disengagement….. So good it can possibly make you forget that some of Deadfire’s tougher customers are resistant or straight up immune to RES afflictions. Just sayin’ I’ve made the mistake of over-relying on it against powerful crowds.1 point

Crushed the Poko Kohara double Engwithin Saint fight this way on POTD. I’ve never seen so much engagement on a tank..there were so many attack rolls that even grazes were hurting (Vigorous Defense saved me) when the undead came out of the walls I charged the rest of the party at the saints as there were only 2 and my scout and monk crushed them while Aloth AOEed everything stuck to the Crusader, then Terrified the entire pack and they got cut to pieces with Ubroken disnegagement crits it was glorious. Xoti layed down the buffs of course. So at least my tactics are in line with what you guys are saying. Since I picked up everyone’s advice on the Wizard Aloth has picked up a lot.1 point

From Steam Page: I suppose Prey proved that rogue-like DLC can work - not sure if Owncat has chops for it. I found Kingmaker's rogue-like DLC to be a waste of my time. I like to buy and play complete packages, but with WotR I think I will wait to see how I like base game first. That said, I googled some WotC gameplay videos.... and they made HoM&M like-minigame for army battles? Me like!1 point

This is, of course, a matter of opinion, but here's why I don't think it looks impressive at all: there are far too many close-up shots. I find them immersion-breaking, because you can see how unnatural everyone's expressions and face movements are. Also, they are not in sync with whatever they're saying. So, in wanting to make things look more immersive and/or "realistic", this approach actually breaks immersion for me. The old BG2 graphics are dated, of course, but there's nothing immersion-breaking in them -- they leave an awful lot for your imagination, which is precisely what the close-up scenes in BG3 don't do. (I'm also one of those people who are almost never interested in movies based on books, as books tend to be so much better, for somewhat similar reasons.) But, as I said, this is a matter of opinion. BG3 is going down a road that I find completely uninteresting, but even though that's a bit sad, it's also fine -- I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything, the game being like that.1 point
