  2. Sorry to necro the thread, but I figure this is the best place for it. Just completed mine and submitted it a few minutes ago. Ran mine similar to thelee with a parallel run. 3. Just spent the last six days camping and fishing with Sunny & Bella in Florida. The weather was beautiful and, best of all, we had the entire island to ourselves... until today anyway. I was planning on staying through tomorrow but other folks came in and set up camp this morning. So we are heading back home today. No phone, no radio, no internet, or technology of any kind. The most advanced equipment I carried was a flashlight. We fished from sunrise until lunch, Took a walk around the island or up Shired Creek towards the Suwanee in the early afternoon then fished again from around 5 until sunset. I caught reds and spotted trout, including two big ones, off the oyster bars. Then read by the campfire in the evening. It was awesome. I'm telling you guys.. this modern life we live is no damned good for anyone. The stress, the noise, the hectic pace... who needs this s--t? When was the last time you just stopped to watch a sunrise or sun set? Or really looked at the stars? Thoreau was right about a lot of things. This most of all; Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they're after.

  4. They have officially killed Baldur's Gate for me. This is just DOS3 that is trying to cash in on BG name. Absolutely disgusting. Fortunately I am not a slave to nostalgia so I'm glad to know in advance that I need to look elsewhere for my gaming needs

  6. Finally saw the trailer having spent the 10 seconds required duckduckgoing. Skipped some bits because 20 odd minutes but it was OK I guess. Glad it's a tentacle ship wreck this time, that changes things up from the bog standard water ship wreck significantly. Don't care about the graphics as I wouldn't be buying the game for them, don't really care about some of the gameplay oddities and departures either. It looks very much and sounds a bit like DivOS 3, but expecting anything else is unrealistic. The major problem with DivOS2 was the stupid late development tinkering with sequence and physical/ magical barriers, and hopefully being D&D that cannot happen here anyway.

  7. UPD. Finished with Carnage highlight. @Boeroer i think i'll be able to add highlight to Clear Out and Whirling Strikes by adding another fake AOE attack.

  10. Well, looking at that preview, the game certainly does not seem particularly interesting anymore. A bit of a shame, that. I'm not entirely sure whether there's meant to be a significant difference between BG3 and D:OS2, but for me, they looked essentially the same -- which is a huge downer, as I found D:OS2 almost completely uninteresting. The gameplay graphics just aren't very good. Some of the small details were really awkward, too, like the asterisks around dialogue options; I can't see why anyone would want those, as they look so highschoolish (and of course I admit this is nitpicking of the highest degree). The game also repeats a trope that I find very unflattering and unworking [sic]: NPC characters' lips move when they talk. It just looks so bad. Here's the thing about verisimilitude: if you want to make something appear realistic, it has to be pretty darn good. Otherwise it will just look silly and take away from the illusion of reality. Looking at those lips move in a way that has basically nothing to do with the words the characters are saying just looks so shoddy. The whole idea of showing those NPCs in such great detail and as such large figures on the screen has (in my view) not reached the level where it's worth it. It takes away from the (admittedly artificial) realism, instead of adding to it. It takes away from the immersion, in a big way.

  11. I'm actually excited by the gameplay video. It looks like the good parts of D:OS with a much better world building. Honestly I think it's very well done. I'm not sure where the Dragon Age comparisons are coming from.

  13. Being a superfan of the BG series, I knew that there was no reason to be interested, since these reboots/revivals never go well for the superfans who like how the old games played. It's basically what I expected, though I'm a bit more horrified with the up-close shots of characters than I expected to be. Yikes. That one dude, Gale, looks like he could've actually been modeled after a BG-style portrait...and that is not a compliment in any sense.

  14. That was Half Life Sistah, and yeah, Gost Love Score. Although I think she also cried on a few other ones. As much as I like Floor and while I think she's killing all the stuff written after Tarja's departure, the only thing making me weep about Nightwish these days is Anette or Floor trying to sing songs written for Tarja. Annette never could and that was probably unfair to her (by the band, I mean) and Floor easily could but doesn't want to sing in her operatic style all that much, I guess? Not sure. Someone cut together different live videos of Nightwish a few years back. Mostly Wacken 2013 and End of an Era, but there's also one from the From Wishes to Eternity tour: Although this is by far and large the worst of the bunch in terms of quality (From Wishes to Eternity was ages ago) it showcases what I mean pretty well. There's no arguing that Floor is much more flexible than Tarja, and I always thought that trying to push her into a more poppy voice starting with Century Child was a mistake - although I'm not entirely sure whose idea that was, maybe she wasn't pushed as much as she demanded it to be done - but honestly, Tarja owns the old songs, and Floor just doesn't. And that new live album from Buenos Aires suffers from it. A lot. So, how long until the Floor fanboy brigade crucifies me?

  16. Rekke gets minor but lore-wise surprisingly impactful reactivity in FS and a little bit elsewhere. (Stuff to do with Yehuza's involvement with the gods.) You can also talk to him. I think the coolest part of Rekke is that he starts off being utterly unable to communicate with you and he picks up more common (?) over the course of the game, even in base-game. I actually thought he was the most reactive/interesting companion before DLC.

  21. Back when the Bioware forums existed it would be very, very easy to point to equivalences to Twilight class fandom especially in the Mass Effect fandom (eg Talimancers and the infamous sweat analysis). Later Bioware games' NPCs were almost entirely service for various subgroups of obsessed fans so much so that I'm not at all sure it would count as an unpopular opinion.

  22. It's really clever multiplayer design. I wonder if they manage to find a way for it to work better when playing single player. The demo felt alright to me.

  23. Because in other games the pre-made characters you do not choose, die in a blimp crash, after a Molochean Hand orc flies his ornithopter into it to kill the Living One. And inadvertently getting the whole prophecy rolling.

  26. There is also the question of, shall we say, dignity, or integrity. In other words, if the successor of a classic has essentially nothing to do with said classic, a lot of people are going to feel that it might have been more decent not to make that successor in the first place. I'll give you an example from another context: Peter Jackson's movie trilogy for The Hobbit. I only saw the first one, but it was so poor and so out of touch with pretty much everything told in the book that I decided it would be best not to see the other two. Granted, some of the story bore some resemblance to things that happened in the book, but the spirit was completely wrong in pretty much every conceivable way (essentially, Jackson tried to turn an exciting children's story into a dark heroic epic, which just didn't work at all). The movie(s) did not tarnish the book in any way, but the decent thing would have been to not make the movies at all. It was such a colossal failure. Now, Larian may of course try to profit from the franchise, but if the result is completely out of touch with the spirit of BG, I suppose a fairly large number of people are going to feel disappointed., simply because the original classic is so good that it doesn't deserve poor treatment or watering down or what have you. Mind you, if it turns out that Larian's BG3 is excellent, I will be a happy camper indeed. And yes, I know that dignity or integrity or other terms like that don't matter to some people. That's fine. They do matter to me, and I'm pretty sure they matter to an awful lot of other people as well.

  30. *hops and skips her way through that 1.5 hour long video* Turn based. Meh. I'll probably skip it. No I'm not saying turn-based sucks, just not my thing. Am I the only one who's tired of watching characters largely just stand there for 2-3 minutes while speaking whole paragraphs? It was kinda fun way back when the novelty of seeing chrs. nod and frown with flapping lips was new, but now I just get impatient. Even in New Vegas I recall madly mashing the spacebar (or whatever it was) to skip the vocalizing since I could read 10x faster. If the vocal lines are short back and forths it's fine but long speeches or exposition...Edit - maybe they'll have an option to see text and skip too tho, didn't notice. Anyway ... graphics are ok although as noted by some the close-ups of heads/faces is a bit odd at times. The "I'm peering down into a canyon much of the time" perspective makes the 3D party stuff work I guess but not my favorite type of viewpoint since it tends to emphasize any corridor effect. Gameplay wise ... who knows. Can never really tell from an hour of demo. I liked when the game went wonky on them at the end tho. Hahaha.

  34. Anomen was grating, sure. But I actually liked his story. He goes from being a snotty, high-strung brat to, well... a grown man in the course of a rather dark arc. Or, you could push him into failing at life and turn into a raging drunk, because why not. Mechanically he could be a great meatshield with heals, too. Jan is by far the most entertaining vegetable peddler / high-quality illegal flasher craftsman I've ever come across in any game, no doubt.

  38. Calling it BG3 has turned me off it completely. I'm up for another game in the Forgotten Realms, surely they could have just called it something else? DND is popular they don't have to make it a sequel toa beloved game series from decades ago.

  39. Looks like it's going to be turn based... And it has the same braindead writing D:OS2 had. They should have just called this Divinity: Original Sin 2.5 and let someone more competent make BG3. I guess there's still Pathfinder to look forward too, but this is really disappointing.

  40. Interesting that you like the combat in DOS2. I have tried the game but found it very hard to get into. The writing seemed frankly awful, and I didn't find anything in the combat system to recommend it, either. Everything seemed overly simplified. But obviously this is a matter of taste. I understand the affinity for the Ultima series very well, because Ultima IV and V were huge, at the time, for me, something really special. Ultima VI was good, too, but nowhere near as engaging as the previous two. I've never even tried I-III, and I've only glimpsed VII. It's those three in the middle, and two of them in particular, that were magic for me. But then, even Ultima pales in comparison to the subtleties of NetHack. Best computer game ever. Ask me, I know almost everything.

  44. I checked the conversation file and both nodes that give you the bonus also trigger the Rest function, removing your food bonuses etc. I thought this would be covered by No Forced Rests but it turns out that I forgot to search and batch convert all instances of the plain Rest function. In my defense, this scripted interaction is literary the only time a conversation uses the Rest function. (Wael, you sneaky fker.) I've uploaded a patch for this interaction, you should be able to keep your food bonuses now.

  45. You didn't try superhard though. Check the Versus Evil Twitter or Discord to get news. It's too bad they don't have any blog or news on their website. Edit: checked Twitter myself and there isn't much information on patches besides PoE for Switch. But I read that the devs give rel. detailed answer on their discord server. It's not the best PR policy if you ask me but that's where the info is I guess.
