  1. For my money, The Witcher 3 sets the bar for dressing up mundane quests/tasks. Pretty much every RPG has kill x monsters and fetch quests, TW3 is no exception here, but what sets it apart is how well they disguise said quests with storytelling and great voice acting. I'm definitely getting GreedFall eventually, I've bought every previous Spiders RPG, why stop now? I'm mostly waiting for Proton support for the game to mature (I suppose I could buy it on PS4, but I'd rather get the PC version). As it stands it runs with tweaks and performance sucks via Proton. Still pretty amazing how many games run via Proton on day 1. Give it a few weeks and it will probably be in pretty good shape. I've got plenty of Witchering to do until then. In the meantime, I definitely welcome impressions of GreedFall. I've seen reviews of the game that are all over the spectrum. Most agree it's definitely not AAA, but the closest Spiders have ever come to AAA production value. Gameplay and story, of course, are more important to me.

  3. am not gonna link or repost, but we read the complaint which included preserved texts from ab to the plaintiff. crude, vulgar and monumental stoopid. even if there were no federal case, the texts going public would make us a bit angry. weren't a pats fan previous to this, but can't root for them as long as they have ab on the team. doubt anybody in the pats organization cares. the roethlisberger incident is why we stopped rooting for the steelers, and that were hard. in part 'cause have known jack lambert since we were a sprout, we followed the steelers. have always been more o' a fan o' the defensive side o' the game, so would be tough not to appreciate the steelers over the last 50 years, but guys like the bus, dermontti dawson and hines ward were offensive standouts worthy o' weekly viewing even in the post chuck noll era. the roethlisberger incident, when the da all but admitted that he thought ben were a bad guy who had done a terrible thing but 'cause o' realities o' the situation, and his own police functional sabotaging the case, prosecution were not viable, marked the day we stopped rooting for the steelers. could not moral square rooting for a team with ben on the roster. cowboys, chiefs, pats and a few others is current in the same category for us. is impossible for us to ignore. similar, haven't seen a new polanski film in decades. am literal waiting for polanski to die so we may finally see the pianist. read the ab texts. won't change anything for many o' you, but you should know the kinda guy you is cheering for, yes? HA! Good Fun!

  4. Going back and forth between Fire Emblem Three Houses, Greedfall, Dragon's Dogma, and Star Wars the Old Republic. Right now mostly Greedfall. Like it pretty well. I do think its funny how much press the game, seemingly from people who aren't familiar with eurojank. I think a lot of people were disappointed when they found out what kind of game Greedfall is. Frustrating 'cause I tried to tell the people I knew what to expect but they thought they were buying an AAA title.

  6. Hmm, that's odd. My non-admin account seems to be updating the cookie when I visit the site a day later. I'll have our web developer look into this again. If you really need more editing capability for some reason (Maintaining a list, polls, etc), let one of the moderators know and they will look into this for you. Unfortunately the formatting or use of BBCode we can't do anything about for the reasons stated in my prior post, sorry Thanks for the feedback everyone

  10. One 1968 Volvo 121, 1991 Volvo 240, 1998 Volvo 940. I'm still trying to save up money to buy the '67 Galaxie 500 that my father used to own, it's still in town here. I've saved around 1500$, I still need to double it. And add a zero. The more I learn about my industry, the more perplexed I get that the company I work for actually works.

  11. It's been a hell of a year. Right now I'm rebuilding my financial situation while trying to muscle through a month or two of hell at the office so that something better appears (specifically, they're opening a new office that means I'll be about 15-20 minutes from my house rather than a full hour+ that it is now). Plus the whole "learning a new aspect to my industry" situation.

  12. Captain America could use Nerian's Ward and wear Hearth Defender's Scale. They look great together and the enchantmens fit the theme. They are not blue and white though. Nomad's Brigandine with a padded cap would be an option if you are looking for that blue/while color scheme instead. Bronlar's Phalanx would also be a good fit - albeit a tad too big maybe. Captain America's fighting style is like fist + bashing shield, true. But I don't know if the Monk theme fits too well. Tuotilo's Palm is also a bit small. Cpt. America is a soldier. So for me he would need to be a SC Fighter. Devoted (medium shield) would make total sense if it would do anything... But Unbroken is also a good fit. Protecting allies, getting back up again and again. Highest Resolve... and Monastic Unarmed Training. It's not bad at all if you stack enough Power Levels (Tactical Barrage + Prestige and Stone of Power already give you an additional fist scaling level). I could also settle for Unbroken/Shieldbearer Crusader. Thor must be part Fury. Berserker/Fury might be best for his storm spells. It would make his storm spells penetrate like crazy (+4 PEN) if he also took Heart of the Storm - which he obviously has to. Of course he would pick Lord Darryn's Voulge as Stormbreaker. That thing does indeed "break" storms in Deadfire (sail into a storm at seee what happens) and it gives you +3 PL to... storms. Huh? How fitting. also Pollaxes are hammers/axes combined like Stormbreaker. They do crush and slash dmg. Do we need to discuss that? Use Deltro's Cage for more shock PLs (although a Brigandine or Scale Armor might look more like Thor's orginal outfit, but whatever). And for Odin's sake: he MUST wear the Helm of the Falcon. Seriously! Eat some Asgardian Lobster in order to keep your wits and you're good to go. Hawkeye: doesn't he need to be an Arcane Archer? I mean exploding arrows and arrwos with strings attached and arrows which hit several enemies with one shot and stuff. Just pretend that animal companion followed him from his farm. Hulk could be a Berserker/Transmuter. That way you can have brains/science stuff (wizard) and smash (berserker) as well as the Ogre form. Has to wear the dancer outfit obviously. Use Llengrath's Safeguard, Blooded and fitting "gets better when health drops" stuff to emulate "getting stronger when angered". Also on kill he will become faster and skip recovery - which makes lots of sense especially for a trasmuted Ogre ('cause his recovery penalty sucks so much). Zandethu's Draconic Fury, paired with Barbaric Smash and Ogre fists and Blood Thirst is nothing to laugh about... Or maybe Black Jacket/Berserker with potion of Form of the Fearsome Brute as Kaylon said. Black Jacket because Hulk always grabs some random stuff and hits enemies with it. Cars, street lanterns, Lokis - you name it. Or use SC Berserker with potion and copy Ring of Reset with an exported char. Then you can have 3 knockouts and revives without injury per encounter. Use Vengeful Defeat. Dazing Shout, Heart of Fury. This could be fun to watch. Ogre's fists with Barbaric Retaliation and Vengeful Defeat might be something... Edit: just realized that a Transmuter can't cast Draconic Fury and all the otjher nice Enchanting spells like Safeguard. Oh well... skip Transmuter then. Those spell restrictions are really stupid. Iron Man could be a Sage with Missiles and stuff and the Long Pain. Bounding Boots, right? Uh - I just realize that I never tried an Essential Phantom with the Long Pain... hold my beer! before I go: we also must think about Dr. Doom with the Cowl of the Piercing Gaze. Really!

  14. I have not tried it and its sitting in my Steam library gathering dust. Even though you guys have stated that the timer thing is no big deal, the whole Sword of Damocles is a major turn off for me. It wasn't the text in PoE that killed it, its just that Im too damn stoopid to wrap my brain around the system.

  16. post 2 (different topic ) C-pillar ended up dying. It was getting big too. I gave him/he ate one small leaf of store-bought parsley, thinking if it didn't mind that I'd have to feed him less dill. I rinsed the parsley off but maybe it had pesticides. Oh well, whatever the reason, it was cute while it lasted. Hubby thinks I'm weird for getting "sad" over such a thing but a couple days later he found a new baby one and handed it over. It was really tiny. So I'm trying again. No store-bought parsley this time. It's already gotten much bigger. And if it doesn't survive all the way, then this morning I noticed ... Put those eggs in a jar, maybe I can raise a whole plethora of swallowtail babies! Also, the katydids are another insect that have been enjoying the garden. Aphids and ant "farmers" seem to love dill and the long green bean plants so anything that likes to eat those as part of their diet are also running all over the place (ladybugs/larva). Jumping spiders abound here and there too. I spend an hour or two each day just sorta watching it all. Makes me feel like that kid with the insect jars in her windowsill again.

  19. One thing to be aware of is that several of the Druid DoT spells have the Poison keyword, which means they bounce right off of the several kinds of creatures which have Immunity: Poison. Mask of the Grotto Deep notwithstanding, the Poison keyword is figurative poison to almost any ability, and the ability would become more powerful and generally useful if that keyword weren't there.

  23. A long time ago, my dad fell and cracked his face open. We thought he was going to die then, which gladly wasn't in the card. I was already in town and flew my wife in because of the emergency. That was years and years ago... 15? 12? a while back. We drove home together, since I had my car. Because the world doesn't care about our personal problems, it happened that we drove back during what was one of the worst wild fires in our history. It was surreal. Like Dante's Inferno. Fires raging on both sides of the freeway, which was briefly open as we drove through and then closed again after we passes, as I recall. *That* looked something akin to your video, Gorth.

  24. since you were speaking of animals when my father was a kid, his family had a horse, a dog and a cat. the 3 of them were inseparable. if my grandpa took the horse out on a field to graze or work, the dog and the cat would follow and stay with the horse if he left it there overnight. the cat's favorite napping spot was on horseback

  25. I still haven't finished Witcher 3's Blood and Wine dlc. The game looks great and I love the characters, but I just can't get warm with the gameplay. It took me a while to realize, but.... the game is boring me to death. Now if I compare that to MGS5, which has a retarded story and is pretty lol half the time... but I can't stop playing that game. It's so much fun just doing whatever. The gameworld and gameplay is simply fun to toy around with. I'm pretty sure if I would boot up that game now and do one of the first missions again, I'd be hooked and won't touch anything else for at least the next two days.

  26. I might try Witcher 3. A good friend sings its praises. I played the... first? Second Witcher? Anyhow, I wasn't super impressed, but I'm assured that 3 is the way to go. However... Oh my Lord! Deadfire is better that the first Pillars. I stalled on the White March after a while, but the base Pillars game was great. Deadfire is better. I don't know how much of that is the free DLC or patching, but it's a great game! I regret the time I wasted on Divinity 2 because I'm getting back into crunch time and things like gaming and forums are going to have to be put aside. Well, whatever. Life is all about enjoying what it can offer when it offers it.

  27. Greedfall: the quest structure is great. Similar to Elex, quests are never really as straight forward as they first seem. The combat now has a full pause button which can make 'timing' dodges trivial, but as a slow paced gamer, I love it. Magic is more varied than it has been in any Spiders game to date. The setting is interesting, though not the biggest attraction for me. The companion characters don't look as physically distinct from one another as they do in either Bound By Flame or the Technomancer, which kinda makes them not stand out as much. The hub levels are larger than in any other Spiders' game. The tutorial is pretty long, similar to White Orchard in the Witcher 3 though a smaller hub with fewer quests. That's about all I can say without going into spoilers.

  28. I've been procrastinating today and playing a bit of deadfire. So much better now that I'm off the ship. I don't know what it was about the very first part that was off-putting. It's a much better game than Divinity 2, although there were some fun parts in that also. Now, I've convinced Rinco not to be such a putz, but I've still got his coin purse. Ugh.

  30. I'd say the odds are very good we will see more in the PoE setting, as it is an original IP that they have complete control . It is probably unlikely we see another Tyranny, since Paradox would need to be involved.

  31. tires. we got rid o' the x5 'cause we were told if we went with the cheap tire option (needed 2) it would cost us $900. straw-meets-camel's-back. heck, the 97 t&c we use for the dogs could be complete replaced for $1500. 'course complaining 'bout car costs when we got the two buicks which do little save take up garage space and maybe get driven a handful o' times each month is hypocritical or stoopid... not mutual exclusive we s'pose. HA! Good Fun! ps surprising but the 71 lesabre had kinda a joke spare, but as we could easily fit two dead bodies in the trunk, we threw a real tire in there in case we ever get a flat. still have room for at least one corpse; corpse count being the appropriate metric for trunk space after all.

  32. I'm not feeling great about it, either - thankful it's at home and that we probably won't be snapping the ball with 0 on the playclock every snap like we were against the Bears (which is quite often disastrous for our offensive line play because the defense knows when the snap is and seems to get them into a wrecking rhythm). Really wish that little "facet" of our offense from years past had been solved.

  34. I would make a much stronger endorsement than Boeroer does. I'd say it's good enough, and special enough, that every fighter or fighter multiclass should pick it up, unless they are planning on equipping cloth or running around naked. While it's not going to break the game or make you win fights you couldn't before, the bonus is general enough and solid enough that pretty much any playstyle benefits.

  36. I think we should keep all options on the table because what we've been doing isn't working. That's why I said it should be acceptable to have talks not necessarily that we should talk to them. Still, it's not like we don't already negotiate with terrorists. I also don't think they should come to the US for any talks either. If the president wants a face to face meeting it should be held in some 3rd country. Realistically, if we aren't willing to go all in, which we aren't, then we need to get out. Bad optics or not, how long do we keep throwing our people and our money away? It's insanity. Sorry, I have strong feelings on this issue.

  38. Almost my first humble steps in WoW ever, and definitely my premiere in WoW Classic. I know absolutely nothing. I recognize that it's a MMO, that big world-famous one , and bits of the lore I have accidentally picked up via my love for Hearthstone, the card game. Since I like the Ravenloft setting in D&D, I felt compelled to pick an undead, that's a relatively rare class in CRPgs, at least. Next thing was my choice of class, and I settled on Warlock, since I have a thing for summons, like for instance Druid in NWN1. Having played ridiculous amounts on PvP NWN servers, I opted out on the possibility of griefing and such, but still I wanted to get a reasonable RP feel, so I picked a RP PvE server, and so far it's been pretty great. Deathknell is a nice starting area, and due to my doing some hill climbing, I accidentally fell helplessly into a zone next to it, when I was lvl 3, and the baddies was like 8-10. Whelp! I had to run and run intil I saw a road, and then I found a way back to my starting village. The graphics aren't that great, but the VO and the music and sfx are quite good, for the most part, and my co-players have been nice to me. The server is reasonably full, Medium, and those on it seems to be more chilling and RPG lite guys. Perfect. My pristine undead warlock at lvl 1: My first quest: Getting my imp: (which has really funny barks): The starting place on the map: My first mini-dungeon: And my warlock at level 6:

  41. our second buick were pure happenstance. have always wanted to work on one o' the gm 455 big blocks. oldsmobile woulda' been our choice for minutiae reasons. just turned out our housekeeper had the le sabre sitting in her garage. she wanted to give it to us if we would get it out off her property as she thought it were junk worthy 'cause o' flat tires and not having been driven for a near a decade. wrote her a check with perhaps an extra zero, just cause. looks a bit like grandpa's cruiser, but sounds like rolling thunder. honestly, is the sound o' those 455s more than anything which kinda captivated us, but were utter coincidence we ended up with a second buick. the 87 grand national... well that is a different kettle o' fish altogether. unusual performance from a v-6 and 'course the unique aesthetic. yeah, it's kinda cartoony. "you can get it in any color you want... as long as it's black," was part o' the original marketing campaign, and it has been labeled the unofficial car o' darth vader for obvious reasons. the over-the-topness is part o' the appeal for us. have never been a buick guy. if anything, am actual a ford truck guy, though has been 'bout a decade since we owned one. just... happened. HA! Good Fun!
