  1. So, Solasta. Damn this is actually real good. That is if you can accept a game that's narrative-wise is less about having an epic story, and more about providing a bit of context to pretty fun tactical combat. (I was more invested in Icewind Dale's narrative than this, though, tbh, Icewind Dale DOES have a pretty decent story for what is essentially a dungeon crawl). The voiced banter on the occasion can be good for a smile or so every once in a while. It's also cool to play a CRPG for a bit of a change that: - doesn't need you to engage in repetitive buff orgies before like every fight - has fighters being fighters, rather than for the sake of "balance" let them cast non-spells left and right (this is a party game anyway, what does it matter if casters can do more?) - doesn't have epic +1 +2 +3 magic loot like everywhere, something that back for more traditional RPGs seems to have started with BG2 (my party is level 6 and still carrying standard weaponry) - doesn't have an abundance of talens and feats that mostly bog down to like a +5% increase in hit chance anyway (ok, there could be a bit more options, in particular on level-up) Mind you, a lot of this is down to the game simply being based on stripped-down D&D 5e, but the implemantion seems solid, the combat is fun, there's surprised to be had during travels as well, what's not to like? Also, the production values are on the occasion surprisingly solid for a game from a team of 20. If somebody would have shown me this beforehand, I couldn't have told whether this was BG3 or else (but then, according to Vincke, much of the extra budget of BG3 goes straight into cinematics... zzzz).

  2. It is! I could point to all the things it is not doing well, but it won't change how much fun I had and am having with this game. If there is one thing I would praise above anything else, is Solasta making D&D combat effortlessly engaging. The issue I have with every other D&D and D&D like RPG (Infinity Engine games, PoEs, BG3, Pathfinder) is that I find it difficult to connect with actual mechanics - you have layer of presentation, which doesn't communicate what is happening under the hood, and one needs to dive into combat log to figure out what is going on. Solasta's brief on screen dice rolls I found so... welcoming. They constantly tell me what I rolled, what my chances to hit are, how my damage in claculated without me having to spend time doing research. There is also a more immediate feedback - upcasting a spell and seeing an extra die provides feedback that a flat number simply can't provide. I think this is first D&D game that asks: "how can we well adapt the system" rather then "how can we make a game looking silimar to other games people like, and also make it D&D".

  4. New releases are up! I've added a changelog to keep track of things: https://gitlab.com/noqn/apotheosis/-/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md In short: Fixes to Expression & Query parsing. Making edits to the Preview tab will automatically sticky it. (To prevent losing progress by navigating to another gamedata before saving.) Added a StringTable tab to Conversation pages. It's now possible to make edits from the String Table view, including adding/removing FemaleText values. (Just right-click the row you want to edit.) Full changes since my last post: 2022-11-23 Fixed regression causing the result of Expression Popups not to update Improvements to Expression & Query parsing: Can now parse negative numbers Now properly parses identifiers starting with numbers 2022-11-25 Add a StringTable tab to Conversation pages. Allow editing StringTable entries in the StringTableView Allow adding FemaleText values in the StringTableView In the Conversation & Quest pages, keep text synced between the Diagram, StringTableView, EndState tabs. 2022-11-26 Added a changelog file Allow removing FemaleText values in the StringTableView Automatically sticky the Preview tab on making an edit.

  5. It's really not that stripped down. They're missing some specializations from some classes, mainly because those are not in the open license format, but other than that it's almost all there. Some of the specializations they added are pretty boring, but I like their character backgrounds.

  6. Seriously, the hypocrisy is shooting over the roof in here. So you are just admitted, that you are ignoring international laws, whenever it suits your narrative, because you “feel” that something might theoretically happen. So it is OK for armenian people have Artsakh, because you “feel” that genocide might happen, but it is not OK for albanian people to have Kosovo, despite real genocide happening there And you are frowning over other people, that they are cheering to the hypocrisy of the West… The pot calling a kettle black… The dissolution of USSR and creating new republics was same mess as dissolution of African colonies or British Raj. International law is here to uphold the status quo, until the feuding sides find a new solution for their issues, either through courts or diplomacy. Armenia attacked Azerbaijan in 1991, and is still occupying the part of the neighboring country, and until a court or diplomacy says something different, the international law says that Artsakh is part of Azerbaijan, as much as it says that Catalunya is part of Spain or Tigray is part of Ethiopia… We can dispute the ways how all the countries are handling the current situation, but that does not change the basic fact, that there still was no ruling nor outcome of the negotiations, which would alter the current state, and that has to be respected. Ignoring international laws is just bringing more and more wars and killings on the table, no matter who the culprit is… The funny thing in this is, that the prime cause of all this mess is Soviet Union/Russia, which they attacked these countries 100 years ago and assimilated them, and did with them whatever it wanted including deportations and genocide, but you still find a way how to blame the West for it Back to referendum in Crimea. You are completely false about what you claim. Crimea never voted in any referendom to leave Ukraine. They voted to become new Autonomous Soviet Socialistic Republic. Which was even approved by Kyiv, and become Crimean ASSR of Ukrainian SSR . Before the collapse of Soviet Union, there was another referendum in whole Ukraine, to become independent from Soviet Union, and even people of Crimea voted in favour of leaving USSR. So the whole Ukraine SSR, including Crimea left Soviet Union. Ukraine SSR became Republic of Ukraine, and Crimea ASSR, became autonomous Republic of Crimea within Ukraine in 1992. In 1994 there was another referendum in Crimea, and even in this referendum, there was no question about leaving Ukraine. There were questions about deeper autonomy within Republic of Ukraine… You can try to spin it how much you want, but it does not change the fact, the Crimea never voted for leaving Ukraine, until sham referendum in 2014…

  7. Also funny, that you are completely forgetting, that at the time of the mentioned referendum, Crimea was still part of USSR, so if they were suppressed at rifle point, the blame lies in Moscow and not in Kyiv. and as much as I am an Armenian supporter, as they have been shafted for centuries by everyone around, and I would love to blame Turkiye for all the **** happening in the region as well, be so kind and answer me, which country is de iure according to all international law, the internationally recognized owner of the territory of Nagorno Karabakh, and which country is currently occupying the above mentioned territory? Maybe after you answering this to yourself, you will see the cognitive dissonance you were talking about, in yourself as well. NATO/EU bad cos they shafted Serbia with them supporting Kosovo terrorist on the territory of Serbia. NATO/EU bad, cos they turned blind eye when Azeris were attacking occupying forces of Armenia on the territory of Azerbaijan … you are not even trying to pretend any consistency in blaming the “hypocrisy” of the west *sighs* If you really wanted to blame west for being the same **** as Erdogan, you should at least pick the correct fight and point on all the collective shafting done by the west and Turkiye to Kurds… Disclaimer: I do not condone to any of the above mentioned actions, and my country is not recognizing neither Kosovo nor Artsakh nor Kurdistan.

  8. Got a pretty sweet edition of the wheel of time books 0-3 in my localization. I already have them in English, but in a Orbit paperback edition. I originally wanted to get the original Tor hardcovers, but they are so expensive that I always put it off. I dislike translation for stuff I can read myself, but they look so nice. Here's a reddit thread with pictures.

  10. I found a conversation bug and I really want to fix this with your great mod, but it's quite hard for me what should be modified. A NPC, Li'l Woody, located in Dunnage and belongs to The Man of Chimes quest, does not disappear even after the quest is completed(with the safest way; Giacolo is rescued), and she kept doing same conversation like when I first meet her. I found the related conversation data from Conversations → 17_cv_lil_woody, however, I still don't know how to fix this... Could you give me some advice? Thanks in advance!

  11. This is such a fantastic tool, thanks a lot for putting it together! A bit of feedback after some time messing around in Apotheosis: I really love the way Scripting and Condition Calls are handled in this tool! Very clear, quick and easy to parse compared to doing it manually. And I've got to highlight how much I appreciate the ability to just write the instance_id/debug_name and have tool insert the correct GUID when it's saved. It's a very sleek feature that makes adding scripts and conditions so much quicker and more pleasant. Though I will mention it wasn't clear to me to that ModScriptHooks were located under "Global". It makes some sense now that I know where to find them, and I don't really know where else they'd fit beyond having their own section similar to "Speakers" with just the one option. Honestly fine where they are just figured I should mention it, as I was at first under the assumption there was no option to write them in the tool. The Conversations editor makes me so happy, it's probably what I'm the most excited for as far as making mods in this editor! It is so cool to be able to actually work with conversations in a similar manner to what Obsidian actually used for making the game. There is so much modding potential this tool will open up! The only potential for frustration I have encountered is when navigating with the scroll wheel I often cycle through the Listener/Speaker options when hoovering over them by accident. I think these are the only dropdowns this happens to, so this might just be bug? Otherwise the GUI you have made makes everything to do with creating and stringing together nodes feels very intuitive! Yeah, I think a list of nodes is probably the way to go then. This is something you might already be aware of, but there is currently an issue when a child node's original link is removed, where they become uneditable and inaccessible without using an eternal editor: Once again thanks a lot, for putting this all together, I really think this is going to make modding Deadfire much more approachable to many more people!

  12. Oh, I meant "stripped down D&D 5" as in "stripped down from previous D&D editions (and inherently so, Pathfinder). @Wormerine: That's well put. I think prior the only game that did this somewhat (albeit with a much more busy interface) was Temple Of Elemental Evil. Purely in terms of mechancis and engine, is was ace. Never liked the latter part of its campaign though (endless hordes of bug bears and the like). Plus the combat log was mandatory reading. Also, the main campaign is a fairly affair, but I have visited one location where you had two choices to tackle it (storm the front gates vs. find another way). Plus later on I could try via CHA skill check to persuate the Big Bad to just give me the quest item I was looking for. Didn't expect either. What's even more interesting is that the UI and stuff is also very robust already, and that they even implemented co-op as well as a campaign editor (Neverwinter Nights I hear ye calling). Mind you, these guys aren't industry n00bs. But still.

  13. I picked up the GuliKit King Kong 2 Pro controller: It's absolutely better than the Switch Pro Controller and LIGHTYEARS better than joycons. The main selling point is that the thumbsticks use the Hall Effect for positioning, rather than the potentiometers of traditional analog thumbsticks. The problem with traditional analog thumbsticks is that they use parts that physically roll against each other to measure distance from neutral. No matter how well built these parts are, eventually they will wear and that's when you get drift. It's inevitable. In Hall Effect thumbsticks, on the other hand, the parts that measure distance from neutral never touch, hence they should theoretically never drift*. They use electromagnets for the measurement. ****ING MAGNETS, HOW DO THEY WORK? The GuliKit King Kong 2 Pro is primarily made for Switch, but it also works on PC, iOS, and Android. Best of all, it's not expensive, it's roughly the same price as a regular first party controller for <insert name of current gen console>. Curiously, it doesn't currently work on Xbox out of the box, despite it being essentially a carbon copy of a Xbox controller. Top: King Kong 2 Pro Bottom: XXxBOxXx Controller. I believe that it's possible to get the King Kong 2 Pro to work on xXxBOxXx with a 3rd party USB dongle and GuliKit has said that Xbox support is eventually coming, probably with their own dongle, though just a firmware update would be ideal, if that's feasible. The build quality seems solid, it feels lighter than a xXxBOxXx Controller, but only slightly so; it doesn't feel like it's flimsy and mostly empty, like some cheap 3rd party controllers. It's not perfect, though, so let's tackle the negatives first. The knurling on the bottom of the grips is not as good as on the xXxBOxXx Controller. The pattern is identical, but the bumps aren't raised as high, so it feels a bit slippery in my hand. The D-Pad isn't as crisp and clicky as on the xXxBOxXx Controller. It's perfectly usable, but it has a longer travel distance and lacks that satisfying click sound. The springs on the triggers are weaker than on the xXxBOxXx Controller. Again, perfectly functional, but I prefer the stiffer resistance of the xXxBOxXx Controller triggers. Now for the positives. The bumpers are fantastic. They're super crisp and make a satisfying click sound when pressed. The thumbsticks feel terrific. They are slightly taller than on the xXxBOxXx Controller and they feel great moving around. The face buttons feel really nice. It seems like they wobble slightly less than on the xXxBOxXx Controller. The King Kong 2 Pro is very adjustable. You can change the strength of rumble, the sensitivity of the gyroscope and other things. So far I'm super happy with the King Kong 2 Pro. This is now my primary Switch and PC controller and will eventually become my primary xXxBOxXx Controller. Time will tell how durable it is and if the promise of no drift ever* holds up. * Eventually even electromagnetic parts will wear out, but that should be waaaay beyond the scope of a human lifetime

  16. Ender Lilies. Defeated Hoenir, the Keeper of the Abyss, and Miriel, the Beloved. Not particularly fond of bosses with a lot of adds, especially when both cause collision damage and move swiftly/teleport. The MC now has even more tentacles and thick red veins on the legs, up to the knees. Which probably means that the ending is close. Also, the bosses gave the two traversal abilities I was missing, so going to backtrack and loot everything. Story-wise, it is coming together - which character did what and why, though there are still some missing pieces.

But thats to be expected because its not in a Western country. You can have 500k people die in Ethiopia in a civil war and thats okay but racism on the border of Poland and Hungary will galvanize outrage and protest

  19. I finished Little Hope and may finish House of Ashes before the end of the day. What to say on Little Hope. I remembered reading bad things about it, which is part of why I never touched Dark Pictures until now. But I was pleasantly surprised. Good characters, nice little mystery unfolding, and finishing off in a twist that had me think. On the downside, thinking about that ending is a bad idea. At first I thought it was clever, then I thought it was dumb. And as I type this, I realize it's Silent Hill with the numbers filed off.

  20. As a lot of people here know, it is often annoying that current hostiles effects, when reapplied, dont create a new effect (stack) but refresh the duration. That wotk in the same way for beneficial ones. There are some spells that trigger the Least Unstable Coil for a duration. These spells are listed here : Flame Shield (paladin, priest or wizard) Zandethus' Draconic Fury (wizard) Arkemyr's Mercurial Madness (wizard) Cloak of Death (wizard) Spark the souls of the Righteous (priest) Avenging Storm (Druid and Tekehu subclass) Pollen Patch (Druid) For example, a SC druid with an empowered Pollen Patch get one inspiration every second (even while stationary) and, because of Brilliant from the Least Unstable Coil, can recast Pollen Patch before this last is over. The spell is always considered as Empowered and the druid become the best healer/damage dealer I played. Note I equiped him with the Weyc Wand that really often skip the recovery. The only problem with Pollen Patch is, when an ally is down, the spell reanime him and is over. * The best character I tryed for this topic is Tekehu as SC stormspeaker. Empowering The Ranga at the start of the fight, with Sasha's sabre and the Weyc Wand give him the status of half-god of the storm : Energized and Thick Grew... is already a nice synergie Sasha's sabre refresh 3 phrases and one Empowering Point on weapon hit (The Ranga) On scoring crit with the Weyc Wand, the seal proc per 1s The Ranga in AoE The Weyc's Wand Follower of the Obscured skip very often the recovery for spell or weapon. The Ranga have a correct duration and can be refreshed when needed. ect Of course, Avenging Storm with Effort can Chain-lightning the enemies also and for the combat duration when refreshing the spell. This is some topics related : https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/126433-list-of-abilities-ans-spells-triggering-the-least-unstable-coil/ https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/126859-the-weycs-items-and-pulsing-spells/ https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/126845-encore-and-refreshing-finale-for-tekehu/ https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/126689-effort-avenging-storm-the-tempest/ By the way, for the list of abilities that trigger the Least Unstable Coil, I found another two but cant edit the topic (too old) : Eliminating Blow (Rogue) trigger this effect per bullet/ target in weapon's Aoe and work with a full attack. This is possible with a rogue to gain every inspirations with this ability. A paladin with Shared Flame could do potentialy the same.

  23. I have encountered a bug during the dinner scene with the Abbott. When greeted by the Abbott I chose the cordial response. Then the Abbott said a prayer and the scene shifted to show the food on the table. When asked about what I had done since leaving Tassing I told him that I worked in Poland. The abbott expressed displeasure about protestant uprisings and I talked about a great artist working at the king's court. The abbott said it was no excuse for the violence and I remained silent. At this point I asked the abbott why he really asked me to dinner and this is where the game breaks. Instead of more dialogue, it's just the table with the food, no dialogue bubbles. If I move the thumbstick I can hear footsteps, as if I was back on the Abbott's House screen. Pushing face buttons does nothing. I exited out to main menu and reloaded the last save and tried again with the same dialogue choices. Same problem. I then reloaded again and was able to get past the bug by chosing different dialogue options. This is on Xbox Series X.

  25. Just for more clarification on the problem: Burgl is stuck behind the glass wall in the first lab. He is right behind the asl machine. One thing that I might suggest to fix the issue is a simple small patch that sets a permanent spawn for Burgl every time the game is loaded into. That way if he is missing or stuck, you can just reload. Obviously that may not work too easily if he moves labs/places the further you get into the game. However, I feel as if I am pretty far and he has not left the original lab. Implementing that set spawn instead of just spawning him where he was when you saved would be a lifesaver.

  32. I really liked the direction Obsidian went with this DLC - while the Harbinger village and temple content were pretty much standard fare, the various levels of the Beyond were some of their best artistic work yet and the additions to the lore/worldbuilding (especially the callbacks to PoE1) were a really nice surprise. The combat was adequately challenging on PotD with level scaling and a level 20 party, although there were a few semi-trash mobs/repeat fights that felt like they were meant to pad the experience a little bit. The optional 2nd boss fight was also a little too easy, although it probably would've been just right for a lvl 15-16 party (as recommended) with the same settings. Other than that, it was absolutely worth the 10 bucks - here's hoping the other DLCs are of similar quality, because they're off to a solid start so far. Oh, one exception: Vatnir. He wasn't bad per se, but I didn't find him particularly interesting/likeable (aside from the very cool physical character design) and wound up wishing that I had taken another companion through the DLC instead as he didn't really add much. It's also hard to get invested in sidekicks generally when you know they won't have much interactivity later on, so one or two more full companions would be really nice to see in the next round of content. Really nice work, though; I thoroughly enjoyed it

I haven't reached the island yet, as I have a couple quests I need to finish up, but I just had to say that you touched on one of the things that impress's me the most about Deadfire: the real time lighting & shadows. It's just so impressive, and makes Deadfire so much more immersive as a world. Xoti's lantern really shows off these affects in dark areas, with shadows of your party moving along the walls.

  37. It's not so much the amount as it's the principle. I'm in favour of letting drug runners/smugglers have it and be done with them. A few years ago, there was a case here in Australia, where some woman was caught abroad and sentenced to exactly what she deserved. Of course some people tried to stir up a **** storm, trying to whip up some sympathy for the poor woman (something something Chapelle, I've repressed the name of that waste of human dna). What a surprise, there wasn't a lot of sympathy to find for someone who lived a jet set life style, financing it smuggling drugs between Bali and Australia. I was very disappointed back then when the government arranged to have her transported out of a Bali jail, despite that being exactly where she deserved to spend the rest of her days. As said, not the amount of drugs, but the principle of I'm rich and/or famous, so rules don't apply to me.
