  1. If my years of college have taught me anything, it's that the dumbest mother****ers in the world could pass a test and retain no knowledge at all. The big problem with gun control in the US is who would enforce it. Given the last year plus some, I trust them less than I trust the Nigerian prince who would email my parents with offers of millions in cash back when I was a young'un.

  2. I was also thinking about another trick - the opposite of SoF - the Outworn Buckler can reduce hostile effects and if you switch weapons in combat you should be able to shorten some annoying ones, at least if you don't have high RES. PS. The food stacking still works or it was fixed?

"Asparagus recipe appears in Belgian law database" https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-57315748 "The text appeared to have been accidentally copied and pasted into legislation on the price of drugs and medical supplies. "Bon Appétit!" read the final line of the recipe, before returning to more serious issues. The text has now been deleted from the database. The error was discovered following an update made to the French-version text of the Belgian official journal, or Moniteur Belge, where laws, decrees and other official notes are published."

  5. Playing around with a FF atm and decided I want Coral Snuff instead of Whiteleaf. I expected one drug to remove another but I kept whiteleaf bonus... This might be related to saving and loading because I'm pretttty sure I tested this before and it didn't happen. So unless I'm mistaken and they always stacked you need to use one drug, save, load then use the next one. edit: yeah just tested it with another drug they usually disappear, but once you save and load they won't, let the SOF hatecomments flow.

  6. If a certain drug not works you can just take another one and then try again. I had problems with deadeye, so I just reloaded and took another drug, then when I took deadeye again it worked. If you're at your last drug and it still doesn't work you can prolly do smth like SoF extend save and reload and it should work.

  9. It's funny that this works out of combat while you are in stealth mode - but not when you're standing still without stealth (out of combat). Anyway: it works and is a great way to start the fight with a lot of AR for the initial onslaught your character will face once combat starts. Also great for party tanks who reveal themselves first.

  10. Hey calling especially anyone with modding experience. Basically, if you aren't aware, the Grimoire Imprint spells are buggy in that sometimes they take a spell permanently and add it to your action bar. With my current game, I suspect it's related to doing grimoire-switching before your target dies, because I'm doing a lot of grimoire switching (and shapeshifting) and now I already have two permanent spells (after just a few uses of imprint), and I feel like I'm going to accumulate a lot more as a result. Was wondering if anyone knew how to remove these spells, or to mod it s.t. these imprint spells don't screw up like this. I suspect there are some fun "cheese" opportunities with this imprint effect to be had, but I'm mostly worried that I'm going to mess up the UI if I get too many permanent spells and stretch my action bar.

  11. Multiplayer definitely needs a fix. Anytime I hop in a friends game their base is always loading when I go away from it. And its always lagging to the point we have a hard time fighting the bugs together. And also the games makes it seem we're in another area when we are right there in each others face. I think the recent updates cause this because it this wasn't happening a month ago.

  12. Cardcaptor Sakura, Clear Card, episode 1. Not really any real spoilers: There are major continuity problems between the prologue episode and a flashback in this first one. I'm... not sure what the point of that was. I'm giving the show the benefit of the doubt here and say that was intentional. I wonder what's going on... I mean, I hope it's something, not just an oversight. edit: Kero also has a new console all of a sudden. I mean, Sakura does, I guess. That's definitely a Dual Shock style controller now. What? I sometimes dream of forumites, and they look like their avatars. I might also have had the occasional Sailor Moon themed dream recently. I also definitely had a hybrid Dr. Strange / Agents of SHIELD dream once at the same time when I played Tides of Numenera. That was weird. Buildings kept falling apart, dimensional portals threw cars around and the world folded in on itself, while I was desperately trying to figure out what was going on, together with Fitz-Simmons. Yeah. Weird, weird.

  14. Had some free time and wanted to test out a few things in photoshop. I won't be posting anymore watercolour conversions after these though. Just feels a bit iffy to be altering the work of others without any idea of whose work I am altering, and really just worry about becoming the dead end of a google image search. Wasn't sure if the burn was intended or just a error in the process. Actually managed to find the source for this one Edit: Meant to include these when I originally posted, but due to how dark the image is and some compression artifacting it looked a bit messy.

  15. Looks like Netanyahu is gone as Israeli PM. Pretty big achievement being so polarising that near diametric opposites Naftali Bennet and Joint List join forces just to get you removed- and almost no tears being shed internationally since Bibi was near universally loathed by everyone. Next step for him, prison, with any luck. Then again, 8 parties and with the Joint List outside the formal coalition doesn't exactly scream stable government. You can pretty much guarantee there will be attempts to split one or more off starting 5 minutes before the deal was formalised.

  20. that 3080ti still feels tasty (if you don't already have a 3080 of course), although it would've been even tastier if it was $1000 instead of $1200 (or, I bet, $1400+ for EVGA ftw) ... and if one could get one near that list price any time before 2023. Only 1 more vram than my 2080ti tho, and a lot more power consumption at gaming load. ...I'll just have to console any jealous feelings with the idea that the 40xx or 50xx will even that much better for my (hopefully native/no DLSS needed) 4k/60 gaming one day.

  21. wouldn't say stuff is spawning immediate adjacent to us. am getting a good amount o' use from long range weapons. however, with all the tanks, aircraft and light mechs attacking in waves, is gonna be difficult to stay at range. earlyish missions has us able to dispatch a few mechs before we need get close, but eventual a jenner(s), centurion or pheonix hawk is gonna be sharing closet space with us and am rare built for such. enemy ai is kinda aggro focused, so you may need actual do counter-intuitive and switch targets a bit during a few missions. maps haven't changed much. you are never fighting on the plains o' nebraska or kansas. is functional corridors, if quite robust in areas. HA! Good Fun!

  26. Speaking of gun control... https://www.clickorlando.com/news/local/2021/06/02/deputy-involved-shooting-reported-in-volusia-county/ 1. 14 year-old girl and 12 year-old boy that are foster kids run away from home for a few hours. 2. Boy is diabetic and will die without regular insulin. 3. Decide to break into someone else's home and find AK-47, shotgun, and handgun and a pile of ammunition just sitting out. 4. They go HAM and open fire against police while verbally threatening to kill them. 5. Backup is called, a shootout ensues and the older girl is shot twice, including once in the chest, survives - miraculously, no-one killed during any of the action. 6. Apparently, police have been called for matters relating to the specific foster home ("Florida United Methodist Children’s Home") 289 times over the past year. Somewhat predictably, it all happened in Florida.

  27. Drivers licenses could honestly use a similar mechanism. It's just so tough to meaningfully implement it in a way that people will ever respond to in a responsible/positive manner (especially in the growing idiotocracy that is the U.S.) as opposed to just seeing it as a series of hoops they have to pass so they can continue being idiots every other day but the one they're being trained not to. It's easy enough to train a monkey...but in this case, you're trusting that the monkey will remain consistent to their training without any kind of supervision for years at a time and hoping that they won't deliberately decide to get themselves bit and go completely rabid in the interim.

  28. I don't see making sure someone understands how to operate, maintain a firearm and things like being aware of the laws around its use as arbitrary. Wouldn't help in this case as you can't train out stupid, but would help ensure you have quality gun owners. Based off the ones I see on Youtube there's a fair amount of chaff to cut

  29. That woman certainly didn’t exercise any of it did she? She should’ve left the gun in the house where it belonged. What is it about that story that makes you think some 50-70 million people (rough estimate of the number of known gun owners in the US) who did nothing wrong and were not involved in this deserve to be stripped of their private property or constitutional liberty?

  31. Will this do? For the watercolour, my process has become: (I used other people's tutorials to formulate this method, and much of the credit should be theirs. We stand on the shoulder of giants). Duplicate the original image in a new layer. Make the first layer invisible using that little eye icon on the layer. Select around the image, cutting off the background - there are lots of tricks to this, one of my favourites is Select Colour Range. Cut image out. Make a new image twice or four times (for this one) as big and paste your image in. Stretch your image to fit in it (edit -> transform -> scale). You know how maths works, it's best to use the numbers instead of manually stretching it. <This is where to try maybe doing a watercolour effect if you want to change it from another art style> Filter -> Artistic -> Poster Edges - the second setting is always 1, but the other two can vary. Copy all and paste it into the original image, shrinking it to 50% or 25% to undo your stretch (edit -> transform -> scale). Copy and Paste the parchment background from it's file, and put it behind the image (layers order). Click back to the main image. Image -> Adjustment -> Photo Filter -> Cooling Filter 80 -> 25%. Image -> Adjustment -> Exposure -> Exposure 1.5 (this can vary a lot) Layer -> Layer Style -> Blending Options -> Blend Mode -> Multiply. For this image I blurred the background; Once I've cut the background from around the man's head and shoulders, I selected the area that I cropped off, then selected the original image layer, and did a Filter -> Gaussian Blur (it only blurs what I've selected).

  36. I got 30 seconds into episode 30 some hours ago, then had to pause and haven't yet been able to resume. Does that count for anything? If I'm thinking of the correct sound, that "hoee" reminds me a lot of the same sound that a few different characters in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker make whenever they're shouting out a greeting. I don't really mind Xiaolong vs. Shaoran either way, but my preferred subtitles use "Xiaolong", so that's kind of what I think of him as. Although I sometimes try to follow the actual sounds of what characters say out-loud, and I swear the way Meiling says his name is different from the way Sakura et al. say his name...but I might be imagining it. Speaking of my subtitles, I've also noted for a while that they seem to cut out a lot of superfluous words compared to the fan-subs I checked out, which only contributes to me preferring them. It's not entirely faithful, but there have been many times where I can literally hear characters referring to each other by name, and my subtitles will make no note of it at all, instead going for a more concise and more natural re-writing of whatever they were trying to say. I'm okay with that - the comparisons I've done with the fan-subs were painful, and didn't seem to contribute any additional understanding, humor, or enjoyment from being too literal (in fact, quite the opposite). ...But it is a little odd at times for what I am understanding that I am hearing to not be reflected in what I am reading. CCS, episode 30:

  37. I've been wanting to play a deck builder for a while. I contemplated getting Slay the Spire on several occasions but never pulled the trigger. Then this came out of early access today: I've generally enjoyed Klei's games in the past and I always like their art style so I took the plunge. I only just started but it's pretty fun so far. You run 2 decks at once, a negotiation deck and a battle deck. Negotiations and battles boil down to essentially the same thing, but you have different abilities in each deck.

  38. I happens if you cast an imprint spell from a grimoire, for example Major Grimoire Imprint (and didn't learn that spell) and after casting that imprint spell you switch to a grimoire without that imprint spell in it. Then the spell in the action bar that you stole (and which has unlimited uses) will stay forever. Mechanically it works exactly like the Draining Touch trick (don't learn, cast from grimoire, switch to a grimorie without Draining Touch in it). I guess the imprint spell manages not only the "stealing" but also the removal of those temporary stolen spells. When you switch grimoires that imprint spell with its management ability gets removed from your character (since you haven't learned it) - and that means said imprint ability can't manage (=remove in this case) the stolen spells anymore.

  42. [german_lesson] If you mean "Fingerfertigkeit" - that's not considered to be a clunky word (for us). It's rel. common and distinguishes the dexterity of your fingers from the dexterity of your body. There's no literal translation that I know of (Finger = finger, Fertigkeit = skill or proficiency). So you can totally include it into your German studies. Using it to translate "nimble" is wrong though. Unless it's "nimble-fingered" of course. If I had to translate general Dexterity to German I would say "Geschicklichkeit". Although that already slightly leans towards fine motor skills. The old word "Gewandtheit" would fit better but you would confuse younger people with its use I guess. Translating quick, nimble and swift into German with that a sense of escalation like quick < nimble < swift is very difficult imo because they are either synonyms or more used with to different parts of the body. It depends a lot on the context. But you could use "schnell" (= fast) for every one of them. So maybe the German mod uses "schnell" (which generally isn't a very precise translation of the world nimble) because it fit better into the ascending tiers of the dex inspirations. Usually I would translate nimble with "behände" (old), "beweglich" or "flink". Those old words like "Gewandtheit" or "behände" may sound funny to younger audiences, bit I think they work very well in fantasy and/or historical games. Last year I discovered that my youngest sister in law never heard about the old German word "Kleinod" (biju, small gem) and I was baffled. But then I realized she never read any fantasy or historical novels... German has a smaller vocabulary than English (I think a third only?). So often you end up with a lot of English words with slightly different meanings that would all be translated to the same German word. The most popular example is the word "schlagen" I think. Hitting, striking, pummeling, punching, battering, slapping, bashing, whacking and so on: it's all "schlagen". We Germans make up for that with the excessive use of composites ("Faustschlag" - punch) or funny expressions. Ohrfeige (ear + fig) = slap (in the face) [/german_lesson]
