  2. So let me get this straight. People that advocate for trans-visibility and and body diversity in modeling, are now upset about a fictional trans-woman model in an in-game ad? In a setting that is both pluralistic, hyper-progressive, hyper-transhuman, and yet also seedy and rotten to it's core?

  4. This is my favorite Wiz build. Equipment: - Thaos headdress: +1 INT + 5 accuracy +10dmg against flanked targets. - Kuaru price: +1INT/PER +5% dmg with spells. - Chamelon touch: +1 INT. Late game: Ring of prosperity - Cloak of the theocrat: +1 INT/RES - Girdle of Eothun: +3 CON - Charm of bones: +2 INT - Boots of the stone: +1DEX/RES, resistance to might afflictions - Weapons: Eye of wael/Amailorra + Chromoprismatic quarterstaff - Kana blood pool from POE1 to get an additional +1INT. - Pet: Milx (+1INT +5% crit with abilities and spells) - Armor: Aloth armor +15% AOE - Gloves: Gauntlets of accuracy +3 ACC Late game you can have 35INT with the permanent boost potion. I don't care too much about DPS because I focus on debuffs specially those you can cast from the unique grimoires. I pick all the passives on level up and use the grimoires for spells. My advice is to hunt the unique grimoires as soon as you can because the unique spells you can cast from them are very powerful.

  7. I'm with dunehunter here. In my humble opinion, having 4 sec base (!) recovery time after using Sworn Enemy for a tiny bit of damage is in many regards worse than even base Sworn Enemy or it's updates, which all have zero recovery time. And it was exactly the zero recovery time which, lined up with other attacks, gave it that nice bursty feel in POE I.

  13. perhaps our background has given us a different pov. hobbes suggested state o' nature is, "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.” is wrong on one count. state o' nature is not solitary. the only way hairless apes survived to become the dominant species is 'cause they are communal. nature is your mother, but she is a b!tch who is trying to kill you every single day. go it alone w/o any modern conveniences and then realize how terrifying is nature. w/o modern conveniences and tools, tools only made possible by generations o' community, gd is always one small infection away from death. heck, sprained ankle might be enough to kill gd if he is doing solo and w/o legacy o' community contribution. so how does a community o' humans, sans modern tools, survive a dakota winter? every member o' the community gotta pitch in and pull their weight. one guy doing his own thing could literal mean death for others. you, as a member o' the community, got responsibilities, and punishments is natural result o' dealing with those who ain't contributing accordingly. furthermore, you got groups o' people forced to live intimate close for survival and w/o any kinda formal or informal system o' courtesy, the community relations become strained. do you got personal ownership? if not, then what stops bob from taking the clothes julie made. perhaps some things is communal while others is more personal? a whole set o' unspoken rules is gonna develop to make living with others possible. and biggest threat next to nature? fellow man. gd wants to go it alone in state o' nature? perhaps he avoids infections and droughts and disease and survives long enough to teach another generation his correct values. the thing is, given man's nature, how likely is other people gonna allow gd to live solitary, and peaceful? probable is pretty good actually, but all it takes is one small group o' folks who ain't as high minded as gd to take all his stuff, his family and his life away from him. so even if pre-enlightened gd believes he can survive nature, he probable knows he cannot survive his fellow man... and he is likely quite willing to help come up with rules and customs which punish and discourage bad people. etc. fact we got rules for behaviors o' others is not some kinda evil or curse to be lamented. such stuff is why hairless apes survive dakota winters and north african deserts and droughts and floods and pestilence in places which initial appear as eden but is always having snakes (metaphorical and literal) hiding in the grass. survived a couple hard winters when young. can recall more than a month with nothing but bone and ketchup soup... and jiffy pop. that were with modern tools to aid. am not even able to imagine how intimate death musta' seemed for humans for thousands o' years, when the darkness just beyond the longhouse door were filled with terrible monsters, real and imagined. not so different today. am depending on others for power and food and medical treatment, and if even one o' the literal thousands o' folks who is contributing to our survival daily, folks we never see, screw the pooch, we could end up dead or worse. breakdowns in formalized courtesy nowadays don't just end with a cain and abel situation neither. got freaking atomic bombs and bio weapons, not to mention the damage one nutjob with a handgun can exact 'pon his fellow man if he forgets untold generations worth o' formalized courtesies. am wanting our personal liberties protected, 'cause community can go too far in desire to protect and regulate. even so, am recognizing hobbes were mostly right. life were poor, nasty, brutish and short... but has never been solitary. we survive or fail together. like it or not. end wall o' text and get back to tearing down rotted boards from trellis before it tops 100F. HA! Good Fun!

  16. After a lengthy period of gathering players' feedback, theorycrafting and balancing, we have come with a Community Patch Mod - a community based collection of tweaks and improvements. Community Patch consists of the following stand-alone modules: Basic - includes a lot of suggestions from the Deadfire Polishing Poll - a poll made by players for players, in order to pinpoint the possible balance problems and address them. Basic mod - is a conservative patch, it includes only those suggestions that have twice more votes pro than votes against change. (note: in case of suggestion with multiple options - we were aggregating them) Extra - also includes the suggestions from Deadfire Polishing Poll. But only those that didn't make it into Basic package, but still have more votes pro than votes against. Additionally, Extra includes a few fixes for several bug reports that we have found on the official technical forums. Keywords - address the randomness and apparent lack of systematic approach to spell keywords. This mainly affects priest, and to a lesser degree druids, ciphers and wizards. Typos - fixes a wide array of typos found in the English version of the game. Icons - adds a completely unique set of icons for all passive talents and effects. They were handcrafted with being as suggestive, unique and fitting as possible, in mind. For more info, you can check the mod page, or original thread on these forums, here.

  17. Sorcerer, Fury edition Wizard : No Subclass Druid : Fury Version : 3.0.1 Difficulty : PotD Solo : untested, unlikely. After my first sorcerer run I decided do away with the niceties, I realised that I was using only half the spells I had, some of them I had used about once in the entire run, and PEN was a real pain in the ass for the later third of the game. Race : Any, I played Aumauna Background : Rauatai & Scholar (or one of the other giving Metaphysics) Skills : Metaphysics and Athletics Stats : MIG : 16 CON : 8 DEX : 12 PER : 18 INT : 16 RES : 8 To be boosted with Gift of the Machine, Effigy Ressentment, Cauldron Brew, Savage Cunning (I wanted to go all PER but I forgot to change effigy, so it was DEX) Grimoire : Ninagauth’s Weapons : dagger and medium shield (start), Cadhu Scalth (Old City) & Griffin’s Blade (Random encounter Neketara), Chromoprismatic Staff (Nemnok) Armor : Aloth’s Leather Armor Rings : Kuaru's Prize (Huana Quest line), Ring of Greater Regeneration (Brass Citadel Shop) Gloves : Firethrower’s Gloves (Berath’s Blessing Merchant or Ashen Maw) Belt : The Undying Burden (Delver’s Row Shop) Boots : Leaping Boots or Footprints of Ahu Taka (Whenaru Cleft) Headgear : Horn of the Bleak Mother (or any +PER) Necklace : Protective Eothasian Charm (Gorecci Street) Cloak : Cloak of Greater Protection or Shroud of the Phantasm (Berkerna’s Observatory) Abilites: Free (f), picked upon leveling (p), Grimoires (g). Abilities I won't use are unmentioned. lvl 1: Dancing Bolts (f), Chill fog (p), Sunbeam (p) lvl 2 : Fleet Feet lvl 3 : ADL (p) lvl 4 : Infuse with Vital Essence (p), Burst of Summer Flame (f), Insect Swarm (p) lvl 5 : Weapon and Shield Style (p) lvl 6 : Automn Decay (p) I didn’t write in Burst of Summer Flame at the beginning, but that’s because I didn’t notice the cast time. It’s a great little instant damage button, sometimes Insect Swarm is not the right spell. lvl 7 : Returning Storm (f), Infestation of Maggots (p), Expose Vulnerabilities,(p), Ninagauth's Death Ray (g), Fireball (g) lvl 8 : Llengrath’s Displaced Image (p) lvl 9 : Combat Focus (p) lvl 10 : Hail Storm (f), Calling the World's Maw (p), Ninagauth's Shadowflame (g), Secrets of Rime (p) lvl 11 : Overwhelming Wave (p) lvl 12 : Heart of the Storm (p) Hail Storm is not great except for its massive AOE, I enjoyed using it as a out of stealth opener. lvl 13 : Plague of Insects (p), Relentless Storm (f), Rapid Casting (p), Ninagauth's Bitter Mooring (g) lvl 14 : Embrace the Earth Talon (p) lvl 15 : Llengrath's Safeguard (p) lvl 16 : Sunlance (f), Venombloom (p), Death Ring (g), Ninagauth's Freezing Pillar (g), Gaze of the Adragan's (p) lvl 17 : Scion of Flame lvl 18 : Spirit of Decay lvl 19 : Rusted Armor (p), Tayn's Chaotic Orb (p), Ninagauth's Killing Bolt (g) lvl 20 : Accurate Empower This is not a difficult build. Stay back, buff, throw a Stun/Blind/Paralyse, look for the smallest AR/Defense rating, cast, repeat. Plenty of room for adaptation, no grimoire/weapon switching, no PL to keep track of. The last quarter of the game was spent casting CC in a chain and watching every possible ennemy getting their ass helplessly handed to them by Eder and Maia, while still having the highest dps.

  21. You and dunehunter both made valid points. I have mentioned 3 attacks, as arbitrary value to start the theorycrafting going. The initial reasoning was: Tempest provides 10% chance to skip next recovery. Blade Cascade has 5% chance, and since it is less reliable (cose it's lower) it could provide a triple benefit compared to Tempest proc, hence three skipped recoveries. But you've mentioned the fun-factor, and dunehunter that nobody picks Tempest. So I guess a compromise would be 5 attacks limit (in addition to 5s time limit)?

  23. Wow ! I have to say I am really surprised how stupid the arguments of some people are. It seems to me that most critics do not understand anything... Let's take a look at three most popular arguments: 1) "I hate romances!" No one forces you to have one. In the vast majority of cases, romance is optional. Implementing romances will not hurt you. 2) "Romance should be done properly, or not at all!" Really? Okay, here's my counter-argument: Games should be done properly, or not at all! All developers should immediately stop working on all games that are not great. 90% of all independent studios should be closed because their games are not top quality. If it can't be done great, it shouldn't be done at all. Why even bother? (Does it still seem like a great argument?) 3) "Romances are very costly and time-consuming. Time and resources should be used for better things." Okay, this is one of the biggest bull**** that has been refuted many times, but people (for some reason) keep repeating it. If you have an interesting character with own opinions, emotions, meaningful past and life goals, writing a romance is not difficult. Do you remember the Bastila from Kotor 1? How long was her romance? Something about 50 sentences (if you don't count a few dialogues where you intentionally teasing her to make fun of her). And it was more than enough because her character was well developed. You can't have a well-written romance unless you have a well-written character. And well-written character IS costly and time-consuming feature. But if you have such a character, writing a romance is nothing hard, time-consuming or expensive. Besides, people should finally realize that Romance ≠ Sex !!! Yes, sex CAN be included in romance, but it's definitely not a condition. Already mentioned Kotor 1 has sexless romance, but it was still an excellent romance. Everything depends only on the quality of the character and quality of the writer. ( More examples: Arcanum, Planescape Torment, Mask of betrayer, all games with good sexless romances )

I'd love if someone gifted at photoshop could make a few alterations on the image as well, especially removing the things on the forehead, but if not, it's ok. EDIT: Ok, I tried it myself on a website similar to photoshop. Hopefully it looks ok! Here's the original one.

I never new about this detail about Rekke's past so I thought it might be worth posting for anyone who might have missed it. It pops up if one experiences the drug trip of Drowsy Puke with Rekke in the party: Also the bit from Serafen, which is probably just sailors rumbling.... or foreshadowing?

  34. Personally I feel other then some improvements to gameplay the whole game was a missed opportunity and there were other companions that didn't make the sequel that I miss more. I sacrificed Pallegina in poe as I wasn't a fan of the Vailian Trade Company and felt just like they she couldn't be trusted. Plus for some reason looking at her at times gave me the urge to want to hit her with a club, pluck her, roast her, and then serve dinner for me and the rest of my companions.

  35. Finally got around to playing Pathfinder Kingmaker. Didn't get very far just yet, but I worry it might be a bumpy ride. The system is frustrating mess, complex in all the wrong ways, with character creation being a test, rather then multiple choice. It was frustrating as the game doesn't come with any kind of manual (unlike BGates) so enjoy guessing how things are calculated. Luckily it looks very much like D&D imitator so one can figure it out. UI is quite clunky. Combat has been a slog so far, with little input choice, and a lot of dicerolls. Same fights can go in dramatically different ways, without any change of tactics. Writing is very dry, very artificial, and so far not very engaging. Seems like Dev team bit a bit more then they can chew. It does have some promising elements though, so I will persevere for a little bit longer (should have skipped season pass)
