  1. It's almost as if they believe that innovation and a feature-rich product will put them on the map, as opposed to undercutting the competition and cornering the market.

  2. It's hard for me to pick just one improvement and call it my favorite, as Deadfire—and, vicariously, my impression of it—pretty much is made of all the things Obsidian improved over its predecessor. It is so to the point that, though I'd love to go through the first game again for the story, I can't seem to go back to its graphics, sound, or mechanics. I love the updated graphics, the fantastic sound design, the much-improved itemization, the voice acting, the new mechanics (especially subclasses and multiclassing), and how companions' interjections are recognized and responded to by your interlocutors. Soundtrack and scripted interactions are also amazing (but I loved both about the first game too.) As for the least favorite, I'll have to go with ship combat. There are also a couple things I'm lukewarm about: I understand the completely different setting compared to the first game also called for a different tone (in the same way as BGII differed from BG), but I often miss the darker, more serious tone of the first game. The companion relationship system was a letdown, as it often feels gamey and a little ... shallow. It also increased the cost of making companions, and I would have preferred a more deterministic approach to companion relationships with, say, Rekke and Ydwin as full companions. Most areas are great but clicking on an icon on the map and being thrown immediately to the inside of a dungeon, with no outdoor area, felt sometimes jarring.

  3. A 69 year old great grandmother who uses CBD oil (a legal marijuana product) to alleviate arthritis pain was arrested at Disney World in Orlando FL. The police put her in jail for 12 hours before charges were dropped. In Florida it is illegal to sell CBD but not have it. The woman lives in North Carolina where there are no restrictions. Although Orange County Sheriff insists the arrest was lawful it was clear they didn't understand what they law actually was. The charges have been dropped and the lawsuits are coming. I hope she cleans them out. https://www.wesh.com/article/lawsuit-over-cbd-arrest-at-disney/27465754

  4. Why did no-one tell me that Legend Entertainment text adventures are on GOG? Why didn't GOG tell me? Why didn't they tell me they are 50% off???? I can buy Eric the Unready on GOG and on Sale on top of that? Seriously, this forum isn't giving me all the video game news I need. I blame Keyrock. He's our adventure person...

  9. My most favorite is the better stealth/sneaking and the more coherent Inspiration/Affliction system. The least I like the reduction of endurance & health to simple health - and the PEN/AR system.

  10. Agreed. Because i also noticed that rays on Pallegina's breastplate a not straight. I assume it is Frermas suns. Haha. Tru to do 8 rays (like darcozzi's suns) with a little Frermas twirl. I think it will be ideal solution.

  12. Hi again. Since I forgot Watershapers, Stormspeakers and Gunhawks I figured I'd give you a quick update on those. Also altered Fury and some others based on the feedback list. But main concern is Stormspeaker, Watershaper and Gunhawk at this point (since new). What Do you think? have a look:

  14. Controlling the speed of combat with RtWP - changed my entire opinion of RtWP - I now like RTwP better than turn-based. Going down to 5 party members, I miss that 6th - either that or the lighter tone of the story, I do miss the darker setting of the first game.

  16. It looks for me that you have to have health too to receive dmg, so no hanging on 1hp with BDD waiting to trigger. On the plus side enduring dance doesn't stop when you are BDD /1hp and getting hit. Tested it when I gave Xoti run against Dorudugan.

  17. I had to get over the ears ear-pro for shooting as I hate all thing in-ear. The big thing for me is that it needs to go all the way around my ears or it gets uncomfy real fast. Had to shop around for a while until I found headphones that fit the bill too.

  18. Fair enough. Hm, maybe secure the headgear with a 80s style headband ? Last concert I went to was funny, had some guy near me giving me flak for wearing earplugs. Extra points was for the irony of a guy clad in leather and skulls to a Maiden concert of all things doing so

  22. It's also ok, but as i said it's too similar to Darcozzi (which also use the Vaillian Stars) for my taste. So if the "suns" are not too bad I would like to keep them. Because it's called Brotherhood of the Five Suns. And of course because of the Breastplate.

  25. Official Icon is also this: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Eothas Or I checked all "official" god icons I could find prior to drawing and I thought this one looks better than the one with the filled rays (bit boring).

  26. Don't think so, but you can cast 2 Dazzling Lights and then use Blood Sacrifice next time - I mean if you run out of Sparkcrackers or like in the video where the enemies come too near: just cast Dazzling Lights away from you to stop them from bumping into you.

  27. @Phenomenum Yes you are right, the flat damage of backstab is working, The combat log is just a bit confusing so I thought it was not working. Take a look at the screenshot, it would be nice if the damage log is same as Soul Annihilation. As u see, there was a Dot after all damage, which makes me think it's broken.

  28. Don't you have Dazzling Lights in a grimoire or so? I mean for luring enemies away. Why are you wasting precious Sparkcrackers? Those work on neutral/friendly NPCs. Dazzling Lights works the same - but only on hostile NPCs. You can chain-cast Dazzling Lights out of combat. Cast one, let the enemies run, follow them, caat another one farther away, then retreat and sneak around the corner.

  30. The poll showed 84.3% in favor of a change of backstab. There were 3 options for a change given. Of course none of the individual options made +66%. The flat dmg was the strongest option in the poll.

  33. I was really enjoying combat system when I started my new run of Deadfire. I customized my party with all classes I wanted to try and getting through first 12 levels and early fights was extremely satisfying. I completed bounty hunts, most of the small islands and cleaned unique ships from the sea. All this in first 10 hours. But i did not have even remotely challenging fight for 20 hours after, while doing quests in Neketaka and faction lines, all fights devolved to "switch AI on and left click". Any dungeon of note is hidden behind the wall of dozen or so NPC spewing their "brilliant writing" at me. And when I actually got to Poko Kohara (one of the biggest dungeons in original game) it was whole 20 minute of adventuring with 14th level party. And then back to yapping NPC. It is such borefest that I tempted to drop game before seeing new Megabosses and, as I heard, nice dungeon in last DLC. There is decent system in Deadfire and brilliant itemization, but severe absence of challenging combat (or any combat at all) for long stretches of time and general density of like 1 tiny dungeon for 5 hours of play is where game falls flat on its face. PS I am playing om PoTD, but selecting all challenges and then doing non-combat quest first to level up or some stupid things like no-pause, breaking items and body-guarding low-HP NPC are even farther from my idea of fun.

  36. Season 8 was meh, but at least we get to have some nice Moon Godlike portraits that don't look too clean. If you squint enough it looks like Head 2. Original picture: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/N5EoXb Little fact I learned is that as long as you respect the portrait aspect ratio the picture will appear fine in game, if the ones below are too blurry.

  39. To me PoE 1 is an overall better experience and a vastly superior game, plus a much better tribute to the old classics. I recently finished a PoE 1 playthrough and jumped straight to PoE 2. This is what I immediately missed: - linearity > in my opinion linearity is a trademark of classic cRPG's. semi-open / free worlds do not work for me in these games as they take away the core elements of immersion and intimacy that are inherently linked to the rest of systems (e.g. character development) in cRPG's. - pacing > a bit related to the above, the pacing in PoE 1 is much better as it's organically embedded into the main quest development. This is a critical element where PoE 2 fails tremendously imo - dungeon crawling > horrible in PoE 2. the hyper simplification of combat really kills this integral part of any cRPG. The injury mechanic and the rest system was what made PoE 1 good and what justifyed in my opinion a really weak character creation / develoment system. I do not know why Obsidian decided to go for a console-dumbed version for combat / dungeon crawling and a multiclassing system that is close to pointless given how simple the whole character development is. - story > to me this is very subjective so I will not comment in detail. I honestly expected something different in PoE 2 and was very disappointed to see that it is just the same again but made worse as everything you do is loosely connected (being generous) to the main quest. Basically the best PoE 3 experience possible to me would be PoE 1 with the technical aspects and artwork expertise from PoE 2.

  41. But there isn't any negativity between them. Xoti likes Eder, but Eder has his reasons for not wanting to become close to Xoti, which does not mean he has a bad opinion for her. Xoti respects that and still continues to have a good opinion of Eder.

Sparing the rest of the board from the worse of the posts, so you don't need to read spam or death threats, between actual constructive discussions. Not saying he did or didn't, just that you would not see any such post, when he's on moderated review.

  43. We're confusing a transactional relationship with an emotional one. Obsidian is a business and will make business-centric decisions. We're consumers and are therefore going to make consumer-type decisions. Personally, I've decided *not* to purchase because exclusivity is anti-consumer and a cruddy practice. Always has been. Always will be. (Not ignoring the fact the Epic is a horrendous experience). I won't whine, gnash my teeth or rant about a business decision. There has been no abuse of trust here because it never, really, existed. If you want change, vote with the only thing that matters. Your purchasing decision.

Fireball... and something else?
