  1. our personal strategy is not grease dependent. that said, grease and glitterdust is arguable two o' the most effective spells in the game and both is low level. grease does help for tavern defense but is not essential. ember may spam slumber, so she is worthy o' consideration for tavern defense, but typical we got at least three party members with animal companions which allows us to be in more hot spots at once and am able to quick kill the bomb throwing meanines. do not hesitate to kill the enemy alchemists as failure to kill 'em all is what is gonna have your turn-based efforts stretch out interminable. we have lann kill enemy archers. animal companions, particular animal companions capable o' trip, make a big difference for the tavern defense. 'course if you do not have animal companions... reposting for no particular reason the smite ability for the divine hunter's animal companion is NOT once per day. spammable. for inexplicable reasons, the velociraptor has a charisma o' 14. smillodon has 10. the rest o' the critters get 'tween 4 and 7 for charisma. your velociraptor, once lann reaches divine hunter level 3 and the velociraptor may be designated celestial or fiendish, becomes an absolute murder machine with perpetual capacity to overcome dr plus added ab and damage versus evil foes... and most wotr foes is evil. is so many different ways to build characters and defeat difficult encounters. in spite o' insistence by many pundits that certain classes and companions is terrible, am gonna suggest such is mostly hogwash. the problem with pathfinder and wotr in particular is that in spite o' the many possible win options for building characters and companions, there is far too many bad options which initial look good on paper. is also counter-intuitive bad tactics for beating tough encounters. let the bad guys come to you for tavern defense? makes sense. bad tactics. HA! Good Fun! ps as we already mentioned grease and glitterdust, the main reason why both spells remain useful all game is 'cause they ignore spell resistance. use heighten metamagic to increase the effective spell level o' grease and glitterdust (thus increasing their dc) and both will remain staples from first hours o' the game until the end. (edit: selective spell metamagic, particular in the case o' grease, is also useful) is a couple curious examples o' enemy demons with wings which may nevertheless be knocked prone. go figure.

  2. I suppose there's rumours about everything. I'm reminded of an exchange of words from the Sandman (comic). "Only a fool listens to rumours." "Only a fool ignores them." I'd have to concur with both. And in other news, this: https://euroweeklynews.com/2022/08/28/russian-war-correspondent-dmitry-litovkin-dies-suddenly/ There are plenty of other sources for this, too; please don't read this as an endorsement of this particular outlet. I don't know what to make of this news, but there sure are plenty of deaths like this these days.

  4. won't spoil story aspects too much, but is a short span during which you lose mythic and have not yet gained your legend powhaz... functional get dropped to mythic level 3. you will keep your first three mythic levels even as a legend. next you are tasked with a legendary quest which is more or less complex depending on choices you made throughout the game. you are gonna be relative underpowered at this point as you lost many mythic powhaz and you have gained no legend benefits. upon completion o' the legend quest you immediate gain enough xp to reach overall level 35. as such the stuff 'bout gaining xp at an accelerated rate is misleading-- true but misleading. you will reach level 40 with a fair amount o' gameplay to spare, but your increased rate o' level acquisition is not as dramatic as you might s'pose. illustration: when our companions final hit level 20, our legend had just reached overall level 38. so, in all honesty, after becoming legendary we gained three levels in the span our companions acquired two. the real kicker is the insta-boost from 18 to 35. as such, is good to have a relative complete leveling plan in mind as you are doing the legend quest. HA! Good Fun!

  5. gonna admit we only created a second general much later in the game. until act v, we only had 1 general and that were adequate and likely better as we level'd up the single general a bit faster as 'posed to spreading the xp. setsuna shay (fire. lots of fire.) baroness gaunther/gunther (sp?) (maybe better for an angel character as she gets bonuses to divine spells) hate to say this but the wotr campaign stuff is not well balanced. the mage generals is objective better, though you ain't doomed if you go a different route. choose one o' the aforementioned generals and then maybe pick up the other in act 5 would be our recommendation. archery units are strongk. marksmen remain powerful but they used to be op. hellknights are solid early available army units choices as is clerics. HA! Good Fun!

  6. Yeah, I think adding the correct filter is a good starting point. Then trying to get the described effect. Then if it does not work, backup plan : - change the text to +X focus pet hit so it's clear - probably adjust the X a bit above 5 (maybe 8 ?)

  7. read at your own risk: HA! Good Fun! ps @Gorthone o' the most op builds involves barbarian (instinctual warrior)/fighter (mutation warrior) 16/4. go trickster for serious op. however, is complete unnecessary to indulge such silliness. am not a fan o' armoured hulk or beastkin berserker, but all the other archetypes has significant upside and is hardly as if armoured hulk and beastkin berserker is too weak to handle a hard run o' wotr. unsolicited observation: many barbarian builds finish with four levels o' fighter, but again, such is hardly required.

  8. My hands/thumbs etc. have been doing pretty good for a while. eg, I can wash dishes and the like no problem. They're still stiff/weak but the "trigger" thumbs issue went away, at least if I'm careful and seriously minimize any repetitive or gripping hand tasks. But too many hours per day of KB/mouse gaming(especially vs. controller) starts to mess that up again. Which is what I did all week (gaming). So I have to take a break, from everything, again, I guess. So here is my emotional state re: trying to stay hands-inactive again, for today, and probably the next several days, in cat pics, because that's what I do.

  9. There are some weapons with one or two lashes that concern Deep Wounds : Kitchen Stove (everything and nothing) +5% as Slash, +5% as Crush Xefa's Empirical Explication (Innexplicable Mass) +15% as Crush, or (Jagged Load) +15% as Slash Aamiina's Legacy (Massuk Arrows) +15% as Crush and (Drake's Legacy) +15% as Slash WotEP (Heavy Blade) +15% as Crush Deep Wound trigger on any weapon Pierce, Slash and Crush damages, so an arrow from Aamiina's Legacy trigger 3 Deep Wounds. For illustrate : After one full-attack with two Kitchen Stoves, 24 Deep Wounds, giving in this case (no affliction) 24*1 damages per 3s, that mean +2 Kitchen Stove attacks. Aamiina's Legacy (+15%) with the Drake enchantment (+15%) and some other lashes can be very powerful by the way : A Rogue- Monk with Lightning Strike (+15%), Turning Wheel (+20%), Aefyllath chant (+15%) and on top Recall Agony (+25% but of the attack+the lashes) give more damages with lashes than with the attack itself, with on bonuses 3 Deep Wounds per attack. (If the Aamiina's Legacy give 40 damages : 40+40*0.15*4+40*0.2 (Lashes)= 72 ; 72+72*0.25(Recall Agony) = 90 ; 90+1.2+1.2+8 (Deep Wounds)= 100.4, that mean +150% damage.) A Rogue-Wizard with WotEP (+15%) and Zandethus' Draconic Fury (+15% and +15%), Aefyllath chant (+15%) and Recall Agony give also a lot of damage and the Slash Lash that miss to WotEP , so 3 Deep Wounds per attack also. The Deep Wounds from the Lash give 20% damage over time of the lash, of course. The Baby Boar pet give a +5% Slash lash with melee weapons (and 20%chance to interrupt on hit with melee weapons), to get 2 Deep Wounds with any melee weapon. of course, that represent not much, but turn the +15% Slash from Zandethus 's Draconic Fury into +20% Slash. Hylea's Talon give also +5% Slash to melee weapons.

  10. You might consider using both in your two weapon slots. Start with WotEP against mobs, and then switch to Sun and Moon + Toutilo's Palm against tougher foes. WotEP does great damage against groups, but is not as effective against bosses, which will not likely miss you and thus not proc Offensive Parry often.
    1 point
  11. You have basically two options: Sun and Moon + Toutilo's Palm (which allows SA spamming and combines high defense with the dps of a dual wielder) and the 2H option with Whispers of the Endless Paths which gives huge AoE damage with SA and passive focus recharge with Offensive Parry.

  13. I must say, it was a weird feeling to be bored by a Bioware game. As poor of a showing as Mass Effect3 was, I don't remember being bored by it. Annoyed, yes, but bored no. Inquisition was worse then Ubisoft game. Speaking of which: I have been craving for some eye candy, so I installed Watchdogs2. As with all Ubi games I don't expect to finish it, but so far I have been.... enjoying it? Stealth based gameplay have been more engaging then usual Ubi stuff, and a choice of scouting and different gadgets have been fun so far. However, I am only about 4 hours in and repetition starts settling in. We will see how it will go. I installed it through Epic games store as I got Watchdogs2 for free a long time ago - oh boy, was that an adventure. As far as I can tell, Epic downloaded an installer, then launched U-play to install the installer, then the U-play didn't recognise the game so I had to manually add it through U-play, then U-play patched the installed game, and now it plays fine, but only if I launch it through U-play - if I launch through Epic, then the game never starts loading (no opening logos just black screen) and if it does it crashes pretty regularly. U-play though - no issues. Good job Epic. At least I don't need to use you to play games you gave me.

  15. Putting the spotlight on the celestial raptor is a very good reason for reposting, going raptor was probably the best advice I lifted from these here Pathfinder threads. Raptor's the reason Lann's in all my parties (though as divine hunter he's no slouch himself either), tried one party without and it felt so...unnatural. Plus the aggressor raptor does bleeding damage and it has delicious synergy with my crit-stacking instinctual warrior trickster with "on crit, instakill wounded things who bleed" falchion. Tip: you can put a charisma diadem on the raptor. Also, gloves (there even is one very balanced-for-celestial-raptor set), and a cape and bracers and a belt, which raises a question why they drew the line at rings and goggles. ...and now I want to play it again.

  20. That is fine I guess... As for Legend additional levels, they come at a vastly reduced xp rate. No idea how that works, like do you have to max out your original 20 levels at max cost, then get the discount 20 levels at a fraction afterward etc. Daeran throws some interesting parties. Somehow reminding me a lot of "Eyes Wide Shut"

  21. And done Andromeda. Boss fight was as dumb as I expected, but it was nice to see my entire squad there - although wasn't sure what they were doing if anything, heh. Overall, still a decent experience, avoided doing most of the grindy stuff other than the memory fragment stuff which wasn't too bad to do. The constant traveling for quests was annoying, think the worst for that was Peebee's loyalty quest or maybe the quest to hunt down the pregnant scientist. Sunk 62 hours into this, so got decent mileage out of the $10 I spent on it and then some, I spent 75 h in ME:LE, heh. Benefit of so many years since release, I guess. It is sort of disappointing they dropped the series, if I am recalling correctly, the setting is interesting and the crew is...mostly characters i enjoyed (Liam and Peebee can go).

  23. Then I was lucky. I'm playing in real time and this was one moment I considered trying in turn based, since it looked like I had to be much more careful here. But I didn't and that saved me from this mess. You know, your choice of tactics can change the results in insane ways. I had Nenio and Woljif spam Grease everywhere enemies were appearing and Create Pit in front of the two gates, while Ember cast Web on top of the pits. Things got really easy after that. A few enemies made it inside in the beginning, before I understood what was going on, but that was it. I sent Seelah and the main character to the rooftops and Lann alternated between the enemies there and the ones escaping from the pits just to get stuck on the Web or knocked down by Grease. Stinking Cloud helped too.

  24. keep in mind when you switch to legend, you are granted an immediate +4 to all attributes. there is also an intelligence boosting tome you will be able to find a bit earlier as an angel, but nevertheless before endgame if you choose a different mythic. as a legend you are leveling up 20 more times-- plenty o' attribute points. you need 16 int to cast all vivisectionist spells and none o' your spell choices is gonna be dc dependent. if you hit level 16 vivisectionist at overall level 40, then assuming you started with a 10 int, you may drop your final attribute gain into int and you are golden, yes? with mythics, is no corner to be painted into insofar as demon or angel. however, the triggers for the tavern defense advancement are not always obvious. HA! Good Fun!
    1 point
  25. I hope I didn't paint myself into any unwanted corners. I picked the "Aeon" at some point, as well as "Trickster". Iirc, at the very beginning I deliberately skipped "Angel" (thinking it was binding option, locking me in early and leaving out other options doing so). I can't remember if it was an either or dialogue, Angel or Devil, I'll have to pay better attention next play through. Found another spell caster, an over the top archetype researcher and master of all things scrolls. Which gives me 6 companions for 5 slots. Time for them to start taking turns I suppose. Also, whoever thought the tavern defense mission was a good idea is headed straight for the Abyss! After two hours and 50+ turns, 4 party members down, I called it quits and decided to check the internet. Turns (bad pun) out it just doesn't work properly in turn based mode. Something somewhere gets stuck and boss never shows up/ So, RTS mode it was, until the boss shows up, then switch back to turn based again. I need 3 attempts to get the tactics right. In my third attempt, besides leaving out Woljif of the fight (too squishy for mass brawls) I simply stacked on top of Irabeth and let the crusaders deal with the trash, including the arsonists until boss showed up. Also, got to love Entanglement. Not just visually impressive as a spell, but it worked wonders slowing down the cultists leaving me to fight the boss (together with half a dozen crusaders). Then mop up remaining arsonists and the fight was over. The whole fight only took 10 minutes when doing it "right" (not the only right way of course, just more right than what I previously tried). As for the spell casters, I don't think I've made up my mind yet, which one I'll find more useful in the long run. Ember is a "Sorcerer" variant and Nenio a "Wizard" variant (using legacy D&D descriptions). I did notice a guy in the tavern that will respect my character and I think he can also do something with the companions, but for now I leave the choice of paths for companions to the game. @Gromnir I checked out Vivisectionist, but with Int 10, I would probably need to put more stat points in intelligence for it to make any sense? Otherwise, as mentioned above, tried to make sure I didn't lock myself out of Aeon and/or Trickster. Still aiming for Legend in my first play through though. That is, until I have to make final choices, then my Chaotic true nature probably shines through and I do something completely not planned Edit: Trying to mop up a few loose ends before taking on a garrison, which is otherwise up next as doable missions.

  26. Never took a single course, but the process was; start out as a "runner" aka tool monkey. Any jobsite needs anything? They deliver it. In doing so they learn some stuff via osmosis. The actual union test can be prepared for by purchasing the $15.00 pdf study guide. Then theres a physical test that aint no joke thats administered by some union approved medical facilities. Now heres where the "its not what you know, its who you know" comes in. In addition to the written/physical tests, it behooves you to have a "letter of intent to hire". It further behooves you if this letter is furnished by a union shop. But to be completely honest, they are begging for union plumbers in these parts. Normally, 200 new hires are accepted out of a pool of over 1000 applicants. But this year they actually had a commercial on tv advertising for applicants. And I was wrong, I asked them, and in 5 years they will be making more than me, on a per hour basis. Guess Ill score a good retirement home after all.

  29. Just me or is this much more convoluted than it needs to be? I'd say go for one solution over a mix of several. Personally I'm firmly against removing damage types from weapons. Dual type is a cool concept and a part of the weapons' identities. Also, making the weapons less versatile against 99% of enemies is more intrusive than a clarity issue against 1% of enemies. For this reason, I don't think the Elemental Weapon Keywords should be any part of the solution. On top of the known vanilla breaking behavior, it most likely causes a lot more issues we've yet to discover. The closest thing to a clean, regression-free "fix" is imo to give Keyworded Weapons a secondary elemental damage type, if they have none. (And adjust Pen.) While the original "unexplained immunity" behavior would remain, it offers more clarity (which weapons are elemental?) and is arguably a good standalone tweak anyways. I'll post the table again:

  30. A talent would be closer to the original and avoid power creep to some extant (just an option, arguably not a very strong talent). The thing is that 2.5m radius is incitative to go in the middle of melee. The current range is already greater than LoH and Wayfarer alread works perfectly fine as healer in my experience. I strongly suggest to get other people opinion. The thing is range is a bit the signature of the subclass, and taking it away does not really solve the issue as according to this thread Non Elements spells can also be exploited by ALL subclasses (and possibly elements spells can be exploited by other subclass too). https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/124903-furious-cheese-with-a-solo-fury/ Another route could be to limit all spells to a lower range. There are not tons of concerned spells. We even have a list in the above thread. Taking into account earlier monk ability I estimated 3 wounds ~ 1 martial ressource, and according to my own benchmark, WotW was closer to a 3 martial ressource ability (such as Whirling Strikes). Good point, but may I point some of your most recent suggestion aren't that conservative ? I admit a new CP package for less conservative stuff would help me keeping BPM consistent with CP.Basic and Extra Yeah, that's good principles.

  31. An interesting thing happened recently: Zaporizhzhia NPP has been reconnected to Ukrainian power grid. Had to be done by the Russians even though they seemed adamant to shut the place down if it couldn't power Crimea. This along with constant delays to referendums and Azov trails might point to an active effort to freeze the conflict.

  36. am hesitating to mention, but trickster is a viable option for a cn barbarian, though we likely wouldn't recommend for your first run. requires serious metagamey silliness to get the most o' trickster... both in terms o' mechanics and a few quests. trickster includes such cheese as a full wizard spell book so as long as your intelligence is 12, and you could possible have a critical range o' 11-20 and x5 damage on your main weapon(s)... not to mention being able to insta-paralyze all foes at the start o' combat. is serious over-the-top. legend has more than a few interesting aspects. a decent second class for a barbarian legend worth considering is sixteen levels ' o' vivisectionist... which provides you four levels to play 'round with and do whatever. get vivisectionist grand mutagen, infusions, sneak attack damage and numerous useful medical discoveries such as wings. is not too many bad ways to do legend but you do miss out on a few story aspects. also, while is more cheesy metagame nonsense, the best cloak in the game is available to the aeon mythic path, so start aeon and switch to legend (or devil) is a decent pragmatic choice, but maybe not so good for a cn barbarian. HA! Good Fun! ps azata is also an obvious choice for a not-evil barbarian. the incredible might sooper power as well as life bonding friendship should provide serious benefits.

  40. Im about 20 hours into SOD and Im loving it, there has been lots of negative views on this DLC so Im surprised how much Im enjoying it I have just reached the Boareskyr Bridge map and I dont want anyone to ruin the narrative for me about why its a bad expansion but this is what I like about it I like the way I had to recruit my old and new party members Dwarves of Dumathoin was an exciting and interesting quest, who doesnt like defeating liches It looks like I can Romance party members unlike BG1 I am enjoying the side quests like Isabella and Ikros, I killed them and saved the Vampire because it raised an interesting question around morality and the Vampire had ostensibly nothing wrong plus they had stolen one of the Halfling items so I question there own moral compass Caelar Argent is an interesting antagonist and she is clearly being manipulated and I am looking forward to understanding the overall narrative Finally I am enjoying seeing the Hooded Man\Jon Irenicus appearances so I can see how they trying to tie that into BG2 I will do a full update once I have completed SOD but so far its been a great experience

  41. Almost near the end in Andromeda, sort of disappointed finding one ark is in a side mission but oh well. Some of the banter is a bit funny, like asking why we're whispering after a stealth mission has gone **** up already. Understand the gripes about open world syndrome - dumb grindy quests and wandering all over the place. Really is best to handle it like a single player MMORPG (reminds me of playing TOR, somewhat). I should have played a melee or shotgun/melee character, seems like it'd be fun to be an assault marine type with this combat system. Definitely not going to replay this for quite some time, heh. Characters don't really seem like anything worse than we got in the main series to be honest, either. At least considering it's one game vs three. After this, think I'll waste my bonus money on Farthest Frontier

  42. Finished KeyWe. Cute game, but very short and with minimal replay value. Hell, it kind of makes you think there are more levels than there actually are, because the game presents you a calendar that starts in summer, and you go through that, autumn and winter and ...there's no spring. So the game is actually only 3/4 the length you might think it is. Fortunately we went through it with Steam Remote Play Together, so ~$20 for the two of us works out okay. Having to pay $20 each would have been a rip-off. It's a fairly simple setup where there are four basic types of minigame that are rotated through, and they're of variable quality, with various gimmicks added to them each time they come around. I recall this uneven quality of the levels being the main criticism of the game when it was released, and it's somewhat accurate. I felt the typing minigame was the weakest by some distance, but the other three - telegrams, mail sorting and parcel sorting - were of similar quality. The other thing that perhaps contributes to the lack of replay value is that the goals of each level are strictly limited to a few repetitions, e.g. for the typing minigame, you simply have to type three messages, and are scored on how fast you do so. It's over in a flash, unlike say, Overcooked, where there is a meta game of optimising your action economy to get a constant workflow going. Next game: Two Point Campus

  44. Tried Iron Harvest. One of the last games I backed after The Dwarves was okay, this one is apparently supposed to be an RTS. So far, It's basically The Dwarves, just set in an alternate reality 1920ies, the kind where there's WW1 era mechs. The campaign plays like a single player MOBA with no bases so far, which - surprise - is not really my thing. Might change later, perhaps. At least it does have a campaign, so that makes it instantly better than 99% of the other RTS trash released in this day and age. edit: Okay, so base building is also in there, and it becomes more of a traditional RTS with ressource nodes to hold and all that. Still can't stop seeing everything as The Dwarves though. Guess that's a bit of an issue, but my personal one.

  45. the only positive am gonna observe regarding the wotr crusade system is it is less punishing and opaque than kingmaker... less punishing by a longshot. kingdom building failure in kingmaker were extreme ez and often were a result o' event proximity to a calendar date. you may succeed many different ways with wotr army building, but we kept simple: add marksman (or other ranged) choose a mage general is nuances, but do these two things and chances are you win. we didn't ever "need" more than one army, but if you are not confident in army management, perhaps make certain you have a citadel at any fort not extreme close to drezen and the center o' the map. citadel provides you a bit more time to reach a besieged fort with your rescue army. eventual in act v we have so many resources and is so many rando small armies attacking we usual create a second general and a second army to mop up small gangs o' attacking foes, but is more a quality o' life thing than a need. once you have an army which is capable o' beating all comers (level 10 is likely more than enough) don't keep building army resources with merc hires and adding troops. instead consider long-term building strategies. am not gonna spoil save to observe there is no point in building a sooper army in act 3. however, building resources will carry over to later acts, so make sure you got loads of archery ranges and perhaps warehouses built adjacent to supply depots and sanctuaries. get as many marquee buildings erected by end o' act 3, even if you gotta recycle buildings to do so. but again, if you got a s-ton o' archers and a mage general, a single army will likely be enough and everything else just kinda gets ez. that said, we do like hedge knights as they is mobile, durable and do big damage. HA! Good Fun! ps in our most recent azata run, at the end o' act 3 we technical had seven armies, but the army strength for all save two armies were in the 1-3 range and were composed o' "free" troops we had no way o' functional using. pps both times we did crusade through act 5, we had a brief period o' time when we were kinda wishing we had more material points, and that were in spite o' having supply centers and warehouses near everywhere possible. in act 4 you should become extreme wealthy, and am admitting we used a considerable amount o' gold to pay for crusade supplies early in act 5, particular material points.
