What if the government would mandate to be always against what the government mandates? Let me guess, this came up?7 points

I didn't take new photos, but I took one when I had just moved in and my furniture had arrived. Kitchen counter is completely covered in stuff coming out of boxes (I did find it hard to find any good angles, because of the stair well at my side and piles of boxes behind me, but this is the living room with a view to the balcony)5 points

I just googled it and got the TV channel. Maybe it's the algorithms making.... assumptions based on your search history, or maybe it's Bill Gates trying to get you into sissy hypno. The average woman's hand is about 3 inches. We can use that to judge the relative size of other objects in relation to hands. In this essay I will... In the US case, ease of access is a big issue. If you live in Southern states, particularly in areas with larger Black or Latin populations, there are not very many voting places for all the people there so lines can be hours long. To boot, some places have passed laws making giving water or food to people in ridiculously long lines illegal, because why not make this harder. To drop the other boot, you probably don't get time off work to vote so good luck getting there on election if you've got a 9 to 5. And of course, because of "voter fraud", more convenient ways to vote aren't allowed for a lot of people. To tie all of this up, there seems to be a general dissatisfaction, with most of my circle vehemently hating the Rs while thinking the Ds are at best a disappointment. I don't think this is a USA specific thing, just looking at the French election Macron is hated and like 90% of votes for him were because he's not Le Pen. There's probably something here about just not being as odious as the reactionaries isn't a solid long term strategy, but that's something that most politicos will get because they are high on their own farts.4 points

$20 ($15 USD). So no, it's not going to force you to mortgage your home away and you wont get a criminal record for not voting. It does seem to work though, with 90%+ participation of the eligible part of the population. Could also have something to do with ease of access to voting.2 points

I wish. Those things were horribly expensive, but I got a decent deal on a Black Friday sale last year (33% off). The brand name is just sneaky advertising, as I don't really want to remove the protective cover (yet). The parts underneath foot rests. The sofas have built in recliners for when feeling particularly lazy and you just want to kick back and relax.2 points

It's as good as any explanation I can give. It just feels weird to not have the Y axis inverted. I think it is early flight and space sims that are more or less the reason for this, because it is linked to directly controlling the camera with the mouse. I played these games with a mix of keyboard, mouse and joystick, depending on the input devices I had at the time. I usually invert just the Y axis on third person games too, except for a small subset of them. Everspace, for instance, I've just always played with both regular X and Y axes. That's doubly weird at a first glance because it's a third person space sim roguelite game (it does have a first person mode, but I think that's borderline unplayable, the game is balanced for you to see projectiles flying towards you from behind, you just can't react quickly enough in first person mode if something sneaks up on you and you can't gauge the direction the shots are coming from when they just hit you - and the game most certainly expects you to react to that information). I actually didn't notice that I'm playing without inverted Y axis, and when I found out I tried to invert it and noticed that it feels wrong. I think this is because it has an unlocked crosshair with auto-tracking main guns and only indirectly steers the camera when going outside of a certain dead zone. It basically doesn't feel like playing a shooter because I just move the mouse pointer across the screen in the same way I'd do with any regular software. It's more like scrolling up, down, left and right. On the other hand, I now know why games have the option to invert the X axis too. Never understood that, but moving the camera instead of looking around makes sense. Someone from my class in junior high used inverted X and Y axes for everything, including regular Windows usage. That is madness. He actually did that by turning the mouse around. He had his thumb and ring finger on the buttons and moved it with the index and middle finger. It looked weird, not to mention painful to hold the fingers like that, but he was as accurate with it as anyone.2 points

This is just a Russian propaganda. Austrian chancellor has denied it, and the CEO of SPP (Slovak Gas Industry) has released today this statements: "This is a unilateral step by Russia, which is testing the European Union's united approach. For the time being, Slovakia does not expect a unilateral suspension of supplies, because it has fulfilled its contractual obligation in advance by making a payment by the end of May. I assume that Slovakia will follow the joint action of the EU countries. Slovakia has no reason to pay directly with rubles. The contract declares payment in euros or dollars."1 point

Not doing much. Mostly wage slaving, and playing computer/video games. My dentist told me that one of my wisdom teeth needs to be pulled out. I have a phobia for needles, and always hate my dentist visits. Edit: Damn, it was almost two years ago I revisited this place. Still haven't played The Outer Worlds, but I'll get the bundle thingamajing they have when it is heavily discounted.1 point

No games bought, but I did buy a mechanical keyboard and a mouse for $20. I had the same ones for over five years. I was happy with what I had, but they were getting a bit worn down.1 point

I've been playing a bit of Elden Ring here and there. There are many fun parts, but I feel like the world is a bit too big for its own good. Dungeons are mostly fun, though.1 point

Figure enough time has passed, so we're due some more FF XIV screenshots. Fair warning, there may be major spoilers in these, so anyone's not finished the MSQ yet or intends to actually play the game might want to heed the spoiler tags. I'll add whether I consider them light or heavy spoilers where appropriate and I've been careful to pick things that generally need more context, but still, beware! Me and the homies setting out on a new adventure. Potluck dinner with the homies Revisiting old friends (Heavensward spoiler) Second Endwalker Trial major spoilers. I'll say though, this trial made me bother with hard content again after a very negative experience during Shadowbringers. I just *had* to complete this on Extreme mode. 6.0 finale spoilers (no story stuff, but the area itself could be considered spoiler)1 point

After finally getting a new GPU I've finished Metro Exodus (minus the DLC, for now). Kinda ambivalent about it. The storyline is nice, they do a pretty good job of actually setting up an existing relationship for the player you can't help but care about, with character with their own hopes and dreams. Quite unlike that other company with the post apocalyptic games that tries to make you care about certain characters... (*cough* Bethesda *cough*). However gameplay-wise... I don't know. For me the best sections where those that played more like previous Metro games, the more linear, more purposefully built pieces rather than the open world stuff, like the start of the game, Yamantau, the Taiga, and the finale. Especially the respawning enemies kinda took me out of the immersion, certainly when it comes to what are supposed to be the more "scary" enemies (like Demons). In that it sort of reminds me of Dead Space 2, that game was "fine", but really didn't evoke the same claustrophobic fear of the original, until I set foot aboard the docked Ishimura and all that claustrophobic fear came rushing right back. The use of collectibles (diaries in this case, some of which are really easily missable) for environmental storytelling also isn't a trend I particularly enjoy, especially given how the save system works: there's only a few rolling saves that constantly get overwritten, with autosaves and quicksaves using the same slot, so if you purposefully save at a certain point the game will just overwrite that save in short order. This means that if you miss something in an area you cannot return to your only option is to replay the entire level. Still, I'd consider it a good game as I finished it in a few sittings, which is unusual for me nowadays. I'd probably give it a 7/10, maybe an 8, if I'm feeling generous.1 point

Why would it worry me? Making money on stupidity of others is a great opportunity. So far I've been correct on bond yields and overpriced **** like Netflix and some other 'disruptive' names. I've been paying a price on some commodities as China went to a stand still, yet still with that oil is above 100...1 point

I've been silent for almost a month, to let things go on without my commentary. A month later, we are on a verge of huge food and energy crisis globally, and significant economic pain. As for gas cut off, Poland will likely cope withbit by paying extra premius, as the infrastructure and reserves should keep it going safely until end of year, but at a significantly higher cost. Bulgaria is a different story, and I'm waiting for German reaction. If they will not fold, the economic collapse will make for interesting headlines in Euro zone.1 point

I'm using a left hand-only mouse for my right hand, so I'm not going to be throwing any stones about controls. Whatever works for somebody works, . I also can't play anything first person with a controller in the first place, because for some reason my brain breaks whenever I'm trying to operate two analogue sticks to do movement and aiming at the same time in first person. Joystick on the back of the head a la Sarex's image also makes sense, but really, it's more like I am the camera itself. In a sense, I'm actually controlling two characters at once: Interestingly, Super Mario 64's camera controls were always inverted with no option of changing it. It was one of the earliest games I played, so there's a good chance it's literally Mario's fault, .1 point

That's not three copies of the game. Those look like expansion packs (Outdoor Living Stuff and Master Suite Stuff, can't make out which one the one on the left is). Who even buys boxed expansions these days is another matter, but AFAIK there's something of an illegal CD market in Russia still. Honestly, it is dumb to put copies of the Sims of all games alongside supposed nazi paraphernalia, but perhaps not dumber than going "hurr durr fsb cant tell difference between computer game and phone cards ". The theory about it being a tool to give teh gay to unsuspecting Russian youths works much better. But whatever, it's twatter anyway, so, eh.1 point

I know its mostly supposed to be funny, but to be that guy... The original development for SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU? was inspired by THE ARCHIES cartoon (where Archie, Reggie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Jughead's dog Hotdog are a band) crossed with the radio serial I LOVE A MYSTERY (where former WWII Pacific theater vetrans Jack Packard, Doc Long, Reggie York form a detective agency and travel the world to help people caught up in mysteries and intrigue). The show at that time was called MYSTERIES FIVE and had 5 kids in the band (Mysteries Five) named Geoff, Mike, Kelly, Linda, and Linda's brother W.W. and a bongo playing dog named Too Much. Between gigs, the group would solve mysteries. This idea would be developed further to become SCOOBY DOO, WHERE ARE YOU, but would also be used for the most obvious Scooby-Doo clones: Goober and the Ghost Chasers (like Scooby-Doo, but with less kids, Scooby could turn invisible, ghosts were real and would usually assist in helping against the fake ghosts + the Partridge Family. No the real ghosts didn't assist AGAINST the Partridge Family, the Partridge Family just showed up a lot) - Clue Club (like Scooby Doo, but with two dogs helping solve crimes) and The Funky Phantom (like Scooby-Doo, but the dog is a normal dog and they partner with the Ghost of a revolutionary war ghost to solve mysteries) - But the Mysteries Five format is also the starting point for Hanna-Barbera's adaption of Josie and The Pussycats (the version where they tended to solve spy mysteries between gigs), Speed Buggy (three kids and their anthropomorphic buggy car stopped villains between races), Jabberjaws (where a band in the future stopped threats to their marine world with the help of their drum playing shark), and Inch High Private Eye (a tiny detective, his two friends and their dog stops criminals). Arguably Hanna-Barbera wouldn't have tried The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan either, even if the source for the show pre-dates Scooby-Doo...1 point

You know, that does sound plausible. There's no way it should, but it does. Can anyone point to any other kind of reason that would make displaying three copies of The Sims relevant in any way? (Also, why would a single person have three copies. Even that is a bit odd.) It does look like these guys had no idea what they were doing.1 point

And because Arkemyr's Capricious Hex is Enchantment and Jernaugh's Equalizing Burst is transmutation, the spell alternative is useful for some wizard subclass (a transmuter cant cast Arkemyr's Capricious Hex). The other "difference" between these spell is the AoE size, really big for Arkemyr's spell, regular for Jernaugh's one, but this last apply some affliction per target (sometimes, 3) when Arkemyr's spell only apply one.1 point

Tried Solasta co-op, having never played the game before. Got squashed on the middle ("authentic" I think) difficulty. I'm going to blame low-level D&D blues for that but I also suspect that skipping a sidequest may have cost us an all-important level-up. Regardless, we're going to switch it down a notch next session. The dialogue system is also kinda silly with individual dialogue choices arbitrarily tied to to party slot. That is, the first choice is spoken by the first party member, and so forth. Besides that, my biggest gripe is probably the camera controls, which I don't see an option to customise. Getting the camera to auto-follow your unit(s) is particularly irritating because the input for doing so is at odds with the input to select multiple units. So for example, you already have multiple units selected, but the camera is not on auto-follow. You double-click a unit to set the auto-follow, but this means you've now only got one character selected. So now you need to drag a selection box to select everyone again. It's extraordinarily tedious to have to go through this ritual of double-click then box select every time I want to move, especially as the mode gets deactivated at the drop of a hat.1 point

Its been destroyed in the comics a few times, and has been repaired by the Celestials, by Doctor Strange and Thor (who was channeling the Odin-Force), by Surtur, by Thor again using God Tempest (a galaxy sized galactic storm) and by Angels. I think once the hammer repaired itself.1 point

Pretty sure you only have Panam in your ending if you side with the nomads for the end bit (or if you romanced her I suppose). There are a few different endings that play out differently, but several (not all though) share a certain 6-month characteristic.1 point

Hi everyone, Not trying to bring this thread back to life, but I finally got a chance to play a fair bit around the modded Screaming Souls ability that @Elric Galad so graciously put together. i.e. Screaming Souls working "as intended" or at least, as described. Not surprisingly I did a solo Beckoner/Psion focused around Ancient Brittle Bones and the über Screaming Souls, with additional synergy with e.g. Many Lives, The Empty Soul and other Cipher passives, Helm of the White Void, the occasional Grave Calling bonanza... My findings are as follows: 1) It is extremely satisfying when you manage to pull off the perfect combo of basically 6 + 12 (+1) skeletons absolutely exploding the battlefield through a crazy chain reaction. I'm talking about 100+ attack rolls in one cast, with very large AoE size and humongous total Raw damage. You could think it is totally broken but... 2) You will often commit suicide in the process, so there's a bit of balance. It's hard to not completely wreck yourself or bystanders because the AoE can be somewhat unpredictable. Sure, you can mitigate the risk with sky-high Will (which you'll have), wearing Voidward, having a pet with +health on kill, maybe using the Great Escape Cape/Leaping Boots for last second mobility... But you're competing against your sky-high Accuracy even with only a few hits you might not survive the Choir of the Undead. But hey, when you pull it off... hundreds and hundreds of raw damage*. And it gets even better when enemies are Vessels themselves! In conclusion: if you want to bring a bit of versatility to your Troubadour/Psion or whatever, this mod is fun. Screaming Souls working "as intended" is OP, but it is so dangerous that I find it relatively balanced in a way. Worth a try IMHO! *I'm being intentionally vague on the actual damage potential because the combat log goes totally bonkers . but it's a lot! PS: don't try it in a party with a SC Cipher having Shared Nightmare. Guaranteed suicide.1 point
