We know it's Divinity: Original Sin 3 in all but name and setting. That's enough for many people to be disappointed. Many of the friends and acquaintances I have that enjoyed the Baldur's Gate series did not enjoy the D:OS-games all that much. Regardless of whether the game is any good as it is, anyone expecting something even remotely resembling the Baldur's Gate series is going to majorly disappointed, because this ain't it. I'm still baffled by the need to abuse the name of a long completed series and then make a game nothing like it. A game that, from the looks of it, could very well have stood on its own based on Larian's merit, the pedigree of the setting, and the quality of the product that's out there (so far). I really can't help but see this as an ego-trip in that they were allowed to make Baldur's Gate 3. That or a severe case of company-level imposter syndrome, I suppose. To people not having played BG1&2 it doesn't matter. And those that did either don't care, or are mightily annoyed. The entire thing reminds me of Prey, that drama was completely unnecessary and marred the reputation of what was otherwise a great game in the eyes of many and it still gets brought almost every single time Prey is mentioned.5 points

I am making a guess, but I wonder if a non-Baldur's Gate game would be able to get such a big budget. BG is a flagship IP, so even though Larian is more interested in expanding their D:OS formula, it might have greatly controbuted to funding. I find Larian's storytelling wanting. Their games feel to me more like sandbox or themepark then an interactive story or adventure. Wealth of interactivity and reactivity doesn't mean anything to me, if I am not drawn into fiction. Having choice is unappealing, if I am not concerned about outcome. I really dislike Larian's coopcentric design - Origins I think are a horrible abomination resulting in not interesting companions, and reducing our ability to shape our custom NPC when deciding to go that route. I am doubtful if Larian's commitment to high fidelity presentation will pay off. What we have so far, I think is awful, but with game not being finished yet it is difficult to say how it will look. And then there is weird stuff - taking rest teleporting you to a pocked-universe camp in a generic woods, quick travel teleport, singular map design which doesn't try to create a coherent locations (people unaware of what is happening outside the zone they have been designed for - think Driftwood citizens from D:OS2 unaware of a massive hole in the ground a minute away from their town). I will am not hang up on any individual changes (being made by Larian, I did expect to get Larian game) but I am doubtful. When it was announced I thought: "Larian game using DnD setting and ruleset! I can get behind that", and then Larian seems to try to gut DnD and make it as close to Divinity as they can - missing is rare due to overabundance of advantage, guaranteed source of damage through surfaces, broken action economy. It's not even D:OS2 vs DnD - it's just both work so differently that I think Larian is in danger of satisfying no one. But they still have time to itirate. I do hope the changes he is talking about will attempt to fix at least some problems (like reactions). I don't really judge BG3 against BG1&2 - I see Larian games as a completely different genre then Infinity Engine games, though I wish they had a different sense of humor. I find their games rather unfunny. Then again, I didn't like D:OS2 much. In fact, I thought D:OS1 was a better title. I do think that BG3 will be better then either, and BG3 definitely tries to address at least some of the criticism one could level against D:OS2 (companions are way more fleshed out for one), but it still doesn't just click with me. My datailed thoughts on each are here and here.4 points

Thanks for the concern, but my calves are okay. Sore muscle here is in my thigh, and it's not swollen, luckily. Probably caused by some wear from biking before going to bed. Thanks, it's already getting better.4 points

It's more correct to say that Baldur's Gate was a flagship IP two decades ago. While using Baldurs Gate 3 as the title was an obvious attempt to cash in on nostalgia, I think the big budget is mostly because WotC wanted a big game along with the new TV series to milk the IP. As such they'd probably throw many at anything they thought would be commercially successful, which is unfortunately the Forgotten Realms.3 points

0.10.0 Public Test - 3135 to 3140 Changes (Only noticeable across Public Test Builds) Buildings that were placed on foundations before 0.10 will no longer be randomly rotated and scattered. Saves that were made on a PTS build will not receive the fix. The game will no longer crash intermittently. Your active pet now displays next to you in the Inventory UI. Taming a pet will show a UI notification letting you know you have gained a pet. The Pet House camera correctly swaps between pets when swapping your pet. Reduced hitching when being within interact distance to Base Buildings that are part of a large base. Charcoal Chunks can no longer be ground into Mushroom Slurry. Dew drops that were harvested before a player joined a multiplayer session will no longer be incorrectly visible to that player. Crow feather roofs have better collision for player navigation. The Haze Fog visuals properly match the hazard bounds. Two pet cosmetic pieces will now unlock after analyzing Mushroom Bricks. You can find these at the bottom of the equipment tab in the crafting menu. Icons were added for Charcoal, Pet House, Broodmother Chunk, Broodmother Fang, Broodmother Venom, and Pet Memorials. Charcoal now has an item description.1 point

Ah, yes now that you mention it I remember you talking about Pieces. I've seen Galaxy of Terror and Forbidden World, but not the original edit. Lots of weird films in the Alien-derrivative market. Inseminoid, Creature, Xtro... I know Ilsa by reputation only (plus stills and trailers).1 point

I'm completely sincere about Devilman Crybaby, it's a great show that works on so many levels. Hugely recommended it to anyone. What I don't recommended as much is AoT, the 2nd season of which I finished. It's still got severe pacing issues, the characters pick the dumbest times to break down or monolog, and to boot big monkey DIO got barely any screen time. Still I'm keeping with it, it's not like Majestic and SMC because I do enjoy it, the best I can liken it to is fast food. You know it's not the best but sometimes you just want to eat a burger. So long space cowboy.1 point

I might take you up on that. I like that the alternate title is They Call Her One Eye. As for Pieces, I've already seen it. I have also already seen Forbidden World, but I believe the blu ray also contains the director's cut, back when it was called Mutant and was a horror comedy. Roger Corman apparently didn't want any comedy and made the director cut a bunch of scenes out (the theatrical cut was still plenty funny, just not intentionally). I'm excited to see the uncut version. Also I saw part of an Ilsa movie many many many many years ago, but I don't remember which one. I mean, I think it was an Ilsa movie; it definitely had Dyanne Thorne, that's not someone you forget.1 point

Thelee, if you use the No Forced Rests mod, as Not So Clever Hound does, then the bonuses that only last for one rest, including the Luminous Adra Potion, become permanent. You can achieve the same effect without the mod by metagaming to avoid the forced rests, but this mod makes this much easier and stress free. BTW, I have been trying this build and it is definitely fun. It's squishy at first, but once you hit level 5 and get Ryngrim's Repulsive Visage it becomes much sturdier due to much better CC. Unfortunately, this is typically just after the arena battle when solo!1 point

neat setup. i always overfixate on being able to MC a trickster for glass cannon setups, so seeing one that abuses the high-level power spamming is neat. also i love the use of monastic unarmed training - a quirky passive that makes for some unique takes and i like seeing people find uses for it. one question though, under permabuffs you have: is there a trick to getting this outside of combat and persisting it? sorry if you mentioned how already and i missed it.1 point

Two exploitationier Alien ripoffs, Nazisploitation and...um...Raw Force aka Kung Fu Cannibals. Not knowing what you've seen already, what about Thriller: a Cruel Picture (1973 Swedish rape-revenge exploitation movie, released on dvd). For something a bit different, but indicative of the era, what about Pieces (1982 slasher film, has a blu ray release)1 point

The close-up character animation of Violet Evergreen (the show, but also the character) still makes me want to barf, particularly when it's showing characters' faces... From what I've seen of your screenshots, the general but not strict rules with the show seem to be that up close = bad / far away = good and inside = bad / outside = good. Follow only one of these rules and you may have a nice-looking scene...or you might not; fail to follow both and it's sure to be just horrid, .1 point

Should've already had the series well-wrapped up if the team hadn't completely lost its mind and imploded in all three away games. ...Will this be the opposite of the Mavericks/Clippers series where the away team won each game up until the very last?1 point

Ilsa, the Wicked Warden AKA The Mad Butcher has a legit (German) Blu-ray release at the very least (legit as in actually being an HD transfer), but I don't see anything for the other three. Doesn't 100% mean it won't be, but I'd be surprised if it was.1 point

Hello I wanted to ask if it is possible to make more symbols for the chests. I am a player who likes to organize it and actually has a chest for every single item, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to remember where I am due to the increasing number of items I've stored my things. I think it would be best if there were the same symbols as they are shown in my inventory, so it would always be clear what is in the chest.1 point

I think its not "your garage door" but "a garage door". Somewhere in the middle of Idaho, there's a guy really pissed off about his garage door opening and closing by itself at random. He crossed Bill Gates once, in 1962. To try to move this away from us continuing to take personal shots at one another, citation only means someone wanted to reference it in their work (we don't know if the citation is to support or refute unless there was somewhere on the linked page to see how it was cited). Peer review has been demonstrated to be a dodgy gatekeeper (see any of the instances where hard scientists troll the soft-science journals with made up nonsense papers using buzzwords and get them published despite supposed peer review). This doesn't mean that the paper has no merits or isn't worth more research to dig deeper into, but I also wouldn't say that my skim through the paper left me convinced by it. Partially this is because I'm a little concerned about the data gathering, but I have to confess its been 20 years since I've had to look at any kind of valid random sampling and don't know how the processes have moved on in the internet age and what kind of validity or skew may be involved. The other part is the data is correlative, which I tend to find worrisome in trying to draw conclusions from since without further random sample study you may be drawing a conclusion based on correlation that isn't actually there. Lines like "PR is strongly correlated (r = .51) with psychopathic personality traits such as a tendency toward angry, impulsive behavior [46]. Accordingly, confronting people who refuse to wear masks could be hazardous. Indeed, there have been media reports of people reacting violently when confronted about not wearing masks." seems worryingly like a conclusion (based on news reports) that someone wanted to back up with data (as there seems to be no mention of media reports of people reacting violently when confronting a person not wearing a mask as that would detract from the paper writers goal). But hey, I'm not a psychologist and my statistics studies are waaaaaaaay behind me.1 point

the only good news is that when is state as plaintiff, cases move up the ladder relative fast. unless you are a potential death penalty victim, as an ordinary citizen and voter, your case may take years to reach SCOTUS and is no guarantee the Court will even take your case. mississippi and other states need not wait so long as ordinary joe american. btw, is already other states doing same or more overt than mississippi. if mississippi wins, then then those states will know their rather draconian limits on abortions is likely to survive Constitutional review by the courts. https://www.npr.org/2019/05/20/725139713/what-abortion-was-like-in-the-u-s-before-roe-v-wade the best reading o' roe leaves a legal educated person questioning the basis for the decision. that said, is impossible to ignore the reality o' pre roe. full disclosure: we were raised catholic, so am having difficulty personal considering abortion w/o serious reservations, but am not so arrogant as to believe our pov should serve to deny a woman the right to make such an important and life altering choice. Congress should do something. "Congress should do," has been the prefatory refrain all too often. HA! Good Fun!1 point

I found a copy of Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS on blu ray. According to the description it's 1080p. It's coming from ebay so who knows. I'll use this as a test to see if it's a quality transfer or a bootleg copy of a copy. If it's legit I'll try to hunt down the other 3 movies.1 point

simple? ok, the decision isn't all that significant and it ain't genuine surprising. what we do know is that alito, thomas and acb is not fans o' the roberts decision which saved obamacare and would happily vote against the roberts position if a case came before them which would give 'em an opportunity to do so. gorsuch? he would probable kneecap obamacare if given the chance. joining with alito's angry dissent, which had little in common with established standing jurisprudence, makes it at least a matter o' concern for obamacare fans that gorsuch were willing to act as a cheerleader for the alito's borderline unhinged dissent. kavanaugh? no idea. kavanaugh is too unpredictable for our taste. he is consistent, save for when a case o' pivotal importance is before the Court. worst kinda Justice from our pov. the media and the dems fighting the acb appointment presented to bruce and others that the case before the court were a referendum o' sorts on the constitutionality o' obamacare and that were never truth. obamacare is not safer today from acb, alito and the Conservative Court majority than it were yesterday, but this particular case were never the danger it were being spun. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Did he though? Don't you thing the resentment of local authorities and media towards him played the factor? Remember USNS Comfort situation? How everyone was bashing president that it's impossible it will arrive in NY to help out? Do you think that local authorities not believing it will arrive contributed to the fact it was not used as best as it could be? Remember how Trump was universally mocked about vaccine being finished by the end of the year? In retrospect many things Trump did and said turned to be spot on. And what about the fact that each state and county have much independence from federal government? I don't think we can apply the same measures as in other countries to USA where federal government doesn't have the same level of authority.1 point

Yes it's science. I got curious about the psychology of anti-masking beliefs, so I went looking for useful papers. Most of that 2021 paper isn't especially controversial, and, tellingly, it has already been cited by at least 10 other papers, so it's not exactly fringe theory stuff. I just found that one statement about psychopathic personality traits rather interesting.1 point

The designer's penchant for taking control away from the player to force Artyom through increasingly predictable and contrived situations was detrimental to fun, imo. Too much Resident Evil, too little STALKER. Also, QTEs were getting old by 2010 already. Do we really need them? I did enjoy the world building and story quite a bit, though.1 point

That is correct, though the number after "Value": seems to be what actually correspond to the specific personality data somewhere else. The only thing stopping a personality from being selectable for characters is the "AvailableInCharacterCreation": being set to "True". Though the main issue with using companion personalities seems to be that most have what are called "props" (things like Eder's pipe, Aloth's Grimoire, and Xoti's Lantern) that go with their idle animations. Without these the character will only mime holding a prop object during their idle animations. There is a bit more information on this in the thread below. But the long and the short of it seems to be that it's only possible to give a prop to a brand new character, and each character can only have one prop at a time.1 point

I would love to see a a cart that could hold 2 or 3 pallets because getting weed steams and planks from point A to B isn’t fun. I would also like to a half walls and floors made from “Weed Stem” also “Weed Stem stairs” would be great me personally I like the stem building and the grass stairs don’t go with most of my designs. Next, I would love for there to be a way to get mats out of the water it’s funny I’ve jumped and lost at least 40 to 50 planks in the water it was cool at first then I saw the massive amount of wasted mats. I want there to be a way that you could get rid of random larger branches and leaves and the big grass scrubs by the Oak Tree.1 point

Hello Grounded Dev team, just wanted to start by saying i found myself completely immersed in this world you have created and love the game so much already as a huge fan of survival games. My suggestion is that I'd like to see maybe some sort of ACID ARROW from either larva or bombardier beetle glands maybe tier 2 made with feather arrows. I tend to be a range centered survival player using throwables and arrows so it would be nice to see how different play styles create different variations of survival based on preference. Maybe even Rope arrows with a climbing action similar to the ladders perhaps.1 point

I am hoping we see another Pillars of Eternity. I much prefer the first one over the second - mostly because the way the second one opens - it's pretty "urgent" to take care of the "walking statue" - so it seems odd when you sail around and pick up trivial quests like, "Can you drop off this letter at that island over there because I don't have the time?" "Oh sure. I mean it's not like there's this world ending 500 foot statue just walking around. Let me go ahead and be your mail-person."1 point

With every decision comes the consequence. I actually thought it was great because the game emphasizes the grey nature of things and it forces you to think how you should handle it. Not everything should be black and white1 point
