After beating certain challenges you can choose to funnel soul essence into the island (gain Galawain's Gift passive), strenghten Muatu (the summon from the head trinket gets a MIG bonus and heals you more with his attacks) or receive a culmination stone which can be used to upgrade superb stuff to legendary instead of using Adra Ban & stuff: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Culmination_Stone You can get four. There are other items that can do this as well: Kraken Eyes (Kraken's Eye tavern, Kraken), Magma Dragon Gizzard Stone (Ashen Maw), Outer Godseed Fragment 1 and 2 (both FS) and Porokoa's Eye (SSS). And then you can get Mythical Adra Stones from the Megabosses which allow the same but for mythical quality. As does the Godseed Inner Core (FS). With all of those the alternative enchantment cost no money.2 points

as a grumpy and old person, we cannot help but believe that the fancy-schmancy intraweb thing all the kids talk 'bout these days may have something to do with the diminished capacity to get beyond the remember and understand portions o' bloom's taxonomy. every question may be answered with a quick google search, and not just facts neither. be directed by a lit teacher to discuss themes, symbolism and modern day relevance o' (insert a shakespeare play here) and one need only learn how to refine the appropriate search engine query. the internet is a fabulous and indispensable tool, but we cannot help but feel as if ez access to answers makes it more difficult to teach kids how to learn. and now let's talk about power steering. back in Gromnir's day... HA! Good Fun!2 points

Just to let you know, I have a fix for this issue now, and it was fairly simple in the end. I'll try to tidy it up and publish it in the next week, hopefully as part of the Eternity Keeper save games editor. Meanwhile if you wanted to send me one of your new format saves I could test if my fix works for you too. Update: thanks to those Steam users who've confirmed my savefile fix works for their Windows Store save files. It would be nice to have a GoG user with the same issue volunteer to test a converted save. Also, it turns out my initial fix only works for the character state. There is a similar issue with the level state still needing to be fixed. The only negative impact so far seems to be that some enemies (and items?) respawn. A fix for that will be more involved to implement but I think I know what's needed. I may publish before that's ready depending on how much progress I make. Update 2: an alpha release of Eternity Keeper with Windows>Steam conversion functionality is now available for download from https://github.com/ktully/eternity-keeper/releases/tag/0-20.a Instructions are at https://github.com/ktully/eternity-keeper#converting-windows-store-save-files-to-steamgog This fixes all the issues I'm aware of, including characters loading corrupted, and the level respawn issue. Let me know how you get on with it.2 points

Breakfast of champions: I wish I could find the person who invented Kaszanka (blood sausage) so that I could hug and kiss them.2 points

You could probably hug some of our Greek members in lieu of the real person. It's probably even older than that but the earliest recordings we still have go back to Homer. Have to admit I do prefer the darker variants. Especially when they're just finished and still hot and all creamy. It's not really easy to get your hands on those unless you leave nearby a butcher's shop that sells them fresh out of the boiler, so you can kind of do the next best thing by simply heating them up in water. Similar to this: Don't get me wrong, I also love them roasted with some, well, roasted potatoes and fresh horseradish (and maybe some spicy mustard), but there's something to be said for simply heating them up and enjoying them. Of course they're also great just cold. Man... I'm hungry now. Damn.1 point

Sure. Look at other items (besides armor and shields) that give you a temporary deflection bonus, too. They can be prolonged as well and sometimes they stack because they are from items. E.g. look at the Magnificent Escape Cape (Escape), Duskfall (Drawing Parry) and the Mask of the Weyc (Veiling Hood)...1 point

More max focus also gives you a bit more starting focus. So it can mean that you might be able to cast something like Ringleader from stealth with Greater Focus but not without it. But this is an edge case. Geater Focus can be useful for Shared Nightmares (AoE gets +1% size per 1 focus point). If you feel that you don't need it you most likely really don't need it. Paladin/Soulblade can alernate nicely between Flames of Devotion and Soul Annihilation. Sun and Moon is a great weapon for FoD (because of the +2 fire Power Level) and also for Soul Annihilation - because the first flail head will apply the focus-fueled raw damage and the second flail head will already generate new focus for you. A Paladin/Ascendend can use Eternal Devotion to ascend quickly and then cast damaging spells with a +10% burning lash.1 point

Finished Yakuza Kiwami. It's a Yakuza game, it goes without saying that it's a great game, so pretend I didn't say that. Overall, not quite as holy **** amazing as Yakuza Zero, but what game is? The ending sequence was terrific. I shed a few manly tears during said ending.1 point

Mountain dwarves are immune. It's one of the reason I like this race.1 point

No, because those also do +x to all all defenses. But you can stack them with +y to one defense. Which is weird but it works. So Vigorous Defense (+20 to all) stacks with Mirrored Images (+30 to defl.), but not with Moonwell (+10 to all).1 point
-
No, a Psion gains focus passively: 1 focus point per sec at lvl 1 - and then it scales with Power Level. I have no idea how that's done in TB mode. So basically you don't gain focus with Invocations but you gain focus while casting (and recovering from) Invocations. And on the other hand you gain phrases while casting Cipher powers. So basically every time you finished with one cast you already gathered enough resources for another one. There's very little downtime and you don't need to use weapons. As long as the Paladin's using Flames of Devotion with Ring of Focused Flame he can generate focus quite well since the attack rolls will have +20ACC (and maybe even up to +5 Power Level from Otto Starcat as pet, and Magran's Favor and Sun & Moon as dual weapon setup) and get more focus from the burning lash. Bleak Walkers genrate more focus than the other Paladin orders because of the secondary corrosive lash. Paladin/Cipher also can get +2 PEN for FoD attacks with Scion of Flame + Hammering Thoughts.1 point

And same with Tier 9 Class Passive : Chopping Wood : 100% Hit to Crit for Empowered ability, 20% Hit to Crit for rest of battle Murderous Intent : (100% Hit to Crit /+100% Crit damages) against foes under 50% health for Empowered ability, (20% Hit to Crit /+20% Crit damages) against foes under 50% health for rest of battle Empowered Strike : +100 Accuracy, +100 PEN for Empowered Ability... hum... this one is enough The ratio has to be a bit lower but I think it is fine like this.1 point

I still prefer the sensation of stiffer resistance when I'm turning the steering wheel. I feel like it's easier to be consistent and gauge how much you're turning it. Plus I feel like superwoman when making those not-effortless giant circles with one hand/arm. I AM SO BUFF.1 point

Sometimes we think this type of valid assessment of groups like BLM and Antifa is the reason these types of groups dont pose a risk to our societies in any real way. But this a well meaning false equivalence and strawman argument and unintentionally misses the real threat these type of groups can and do create within most modern first world Democracies They cannot be compared to the likes of ISIS or any established Right wing, Hitler inspired group because the reason for there creation and the way they operate within the US is very different to how BLM and Antifa operates. Also technically I dont really consider BLM or Antifa " far left " in the sense there are real, far left militant groups linked to violent acts of terrorism throughout the world but you dont really see this in the USA as the Cold War is over and the militancy element within the left is not the same as the established and well known " neo-Nazi " violence we see sometimes from right wing groups I personally have also called them " far left " but thats only because its easier to make the point on this forum that way, they operate on the left but BLM needs to be separated from Antifa as Antifa is more " far left " which means Antifa gets automatically moved into the criminal side of all current far left groups globally. This is the same as how we should view all established right wing groups, the moment the group is openly encouraging and participating in any acts that breaks the law they get moved into the " criminal " view we should have of them. I dont consider BLM the same as Antifa is this regard But thats not the concern we should all have over the outcomes and future approaches groups like Antifa would adopt. The risk BLM and Antifa poses is more about the economic and social changes they could impact on our cities or ways we address inequality. So in other words no one wants a BLM or Antifa protest in there neighborhood that sometimes and often leads to violence because communities suffer real economic damage when you look at the impact looting has. But with the risk Islamic extremism and right wing violence creates its more about real loss of lives and real targeted killings. So we should try to separate our views on danger that right wing and left wing currently poses globally because they real but very different And just to respond by making the same point I am trying to make with Majestic, sometimes we get pulled into the interesting debate over " who is worse to the USA....Islamic extremism, far left or right wing " and we think this debate can be easily understood through binary definitions by using accurate statistics around loss of lives caused by real violence created by people from these groups But that isnt a fair way to compare the risk these groups pose to our modern societies and more importantly how we personally respond or how our governments respond. In other words each groups impact is nuanced and has levels of complexity and requires at times a different response But we must never think " group X " is no real threat because they only killed 2 peoples as opposed to " group y " killed 100 people Just an example1 point

So last night I was following a little bit of the Trump rally on Fox news on my XM radio. As you might expect it was part campaign pitch, part BS session, and part Pep Rally. Along the way the crowd broke out into chanting “we love you“. Apparently this has happened at others of his rallies. OK, I have to say I’m a little put off by that. That’s not something Americans typically do. Look, we are not a reserved people generally speaking. But hearing people chanting that to a political leader is a little, shall we say, offputting. Even more than when they were chanting “yes we can“ at Barack Obama. Or maybe it’s just me.1 point

I don't like any of the companions in Kingmaker. Most of them are very good / fun / interesting mechanically but NONE of their stories or personalities do anything for me, and it's a shame. I don't know how literally all of them managed to end up so boring -- the only thing I can think of is that Owlcat wrote them mostly around their Alignments and took the most boring / tropy interpretations of those alignments and gave them those characteristics... Or sth like that.1 point

i was only selecting "persistent" effects, not stuff you have to actively cast and maintain. but yes, much higher should be possible with salvation of time + escape. +all defense effects will also improve your deflection and because it's not a "deflection bonus" it stacks with a deflection bonus. so escape + circle of protection/symbol of eothas/refreshing defense/moonwell/beast's claw will get you even higher1 point

I gave K_A_T one of my save games to convert. Just got it back to do some testing and it appears that everything is working perfectly. I was able to take my save from PC Gamepass Hero edition and load it using the Steam Definitive edition and had everything load correctly. It even triggered the steam achievements!1 point

If you pick Cadhu Scalth and invest in Athletics (for increased deflection bons) and Metaphysics and instead of Casita Samelia's Breastplate take Nomad's Brigandine (+5 deflection and +5 against melee - no need to skill Intimidation and with the Large Shield modal ranged attacks are less dangerous anyway) you will have a high permanent, non-dispellable deflection that doesn't need SoT shenanigans. An alternative to Cadhu Scalth (which also has dmg reduction via Metaphysics which is awesome) you can be Bronlar's Phalanx which gains up to +20 deflection while your health goes down. +20 is at 0 health so that's silly, but even near death it has higher deflection than any other item and it delivers the deflection right when you need it most. But even if this leads to higehr deflection I would absolutels recomennd Cadhu Scalth because the combination of Athletics (+ deflection) and Metaphysics (damage reduction) is just too good. If you want to stick to Casita's you can still do that and use Cadhu Scalth. The deflection scaling with Athletics is still possible, but you wouldn't be able to raise Metaphysics since you need all the points for Intimidation. You can reach quite high Intimidation with the help of Berath's Blessing: pick the double skill bonus and Infamous Captain (+3 Intimidate) and later train the skill at some trainer dude (forgot who) for another +1. Also nowadays you can actually find the Bracers of Greater Deflection in the game for +7 on top.1 point

What about.... Cipher/Paladin (Kind Wayfer)? Paladins have lay of hands as heals, and kind wayferer heals with flames of devotion (but more in melee). Flames of Devotion could help loading up focus. Paladins also have some auras and buffs (limited in numbers and variety thou). MoonMoon Godlike have offhealing in race, but with melee, you need to take damage to trigger that. You can find npcs of chanter kind: Chanter/Paladin, Chanter/Druid, Chanter/Priest(DLC), Chanter/Barbarian overall some variety. Cipher is more rare with just Cipher/Barbarian and Cipher/Rogue variants. If you want to smash with weapons Cipher have more synergy for that. You can play with high perception, hearth orlan, rapier user, Skald Cipher using primary tenesious grasp, hel hylaf or Sound of his voice. (we paralyze enemies and then crit them). It isnt that great since low level chanter have no weapon related chants (buffs, or spell damage). Good luck.1 point

It is about control. That is exactly how extremists take control. They don't make one big strike to take all control. They use extreme reponse to minor things so weak people, who think this can be resolved peacefully, will give up freedom one thing at a time. Soon enough you will be telling people that giving their wives and daughters to harems is a small price to avoid more beheadings. Have you watched Agora from 2009? It depicts how this works.1 point

Thanks, I hadn't seen your update and I was just coming back to post a newer unity version as my theory, after some more investigation of the save files today! This is good news as It means there are two potential routes to get my saves working with the Steam version ... The GamePass version seems to be based on the Xbox version, so I suspect Xbox saves have the same problem. I was able to import a working Steam save file from the very start of the game into the GamePass version, resave it from GamePass and see exactly the same issue when attempting to reload that into the Steam version. So this verified it wasn't anything specific to my saves. It also gave me a baseline for a good and a bad save in basically the same game state. I narrowed down the problem to the MobileObjects.save game files and the main differences seemed to be the Unity .NET class names & versions. Once I saw that, I spent a bit of time trying to upgrade the Steam version to use the Unity DLLs from the GamePass version. I also tried to add the missing DLC to the GamePass version. Neither of these routes worked due to all the protections and indirections Microsoft has put around Xbox games under Windows (I went as far down the rabbit hole as building & installing a custom version of the IgnoreACLs kernel filter driver to ignore file permissions and ACLs). The second route which I'll try tomorrow is to write a convertor program to search and replace the unity class versions in the GamePass saves with the older versions used by Steam (and presumably GoG too). If I get this working, I'll put it on github.1 point

I have exactly the same issue moving saves from the Gamepass Hero edition to Steam Definitive edition. Moving the saves up a level gets them recognized, but the game loads in a bad state, stuck on pause, with undefined text on screen, and only one character in the party.1 point

I don't know how Ciphers and Chanters work in TB mode but you had lots of fun with a Troubadour/Psion in RTwP mode because you never stop casting: once phrases are depleted you cast with focus - if focus is depleted you cast with phrases again. And both classes start combat with some focus AND phrases so you can cast right away. The "downside" (not really) is that you almost never use any weapons - because you don't need to. If you focus on the shorter casts (some Cipher spells do have short casting times and most offensive Chanter invocations have) I suppose you will have little downtime in TB mode...?1 point
