  1. So for me so far Pros: + Engine - I like that engine and amount of interactivity with environment is awesome. + Visuals* - I am very pleased with how environments look * Quests - its nice to have a lot of options how to handle situations Cons: - Companions - so far only one I could stomach. I really hope they will include a bit more because there is only one front liner and she is a b***h but if you are not front liner she is your only option - Visuals* - spell effects are like from 2000 and animations are jenky af. One would expect someone is able to animate run in 2020 that does not look like character have stick plugged up his bum all the time - No fast forward for running around. It really get boring when you explore some place you already been and have to look on your character run back and forth slowly - 5E DnD rules - I am sure those are pretty good in PnP sessions but I am sure they quite suck for cRPG. There is very little character customization so far, and I think It will be true for full game as well (I am no expert on E5 by any means) and its one of the main points I play cRPGs these days - pathfinding - for some reason characters run sometimes into hazard terrain even if they know its hazard. And all it would take them is make 2 steps around - Hazard terrain - Its really hard to tell where it starts and where it ends. Some outline would be really helpfull Neutral -+ Skill checks - I cant decide if I like it or hate it so - meh +- Story - its so so. I am not digging it but its not horrible -+ Dialog -

  2. He liked to go on Twitter or the KKKodex and post unprofessional, angry and possibly drunken rants about former colleagues and co-owners long before he was (wrongfully) accused of sexual misconduct. So, no, it's not just any one thing. He worked hard on that reputation. This is not a judgement on what he said, lest I bring the rabid MCA cultists down on me. He could have been right and Feargus really is a Saturday morning villain who almost sank Obsidian so he can high five around the office for having told off Microsoft (although in that case, how come Feargus is still CEO at Obsidian now that it belongs to Microsoft?). It's just completely unprofessional to rant about it on the KKKodex while boasting about his filled-to-the-brim war chest. So, guess it's time to change the topic because otherwise posts will begin to disappear and threads will be locked. 's a bit of a touchy subject 'ere, 'n all.

  3. I don't like the words "worthless" and "useless" since it's often used so hyperbolically. Of course the lower wound cap is suboptimal and this shows when using Turning Wheel/Iron Wheel. Also the Shattered Pillar first had that cap and then it even got hit with the "only autoattacks generate wounds". That would have been a good time to remove the lowered wound cap. But since it's easier to raise your damage output than it is to raise the amount of damage you receive (in a somewhat controlled way) the higher-level SP gains wounds faster if you know what you are doing. You will never get past 5 wounds - but you will reach that limit a lot faster than the average monk who needs to collect wounds via received damage - at least in non-boss encounters (here the SP has the same issues as a vanilla cipher, soulblade or ascendant). On non-PotD playthroughs with Swift Flurry it can be pretty ridiculous because the additional attacks count as normal attacks even if triggered off of ability attacks (you can even combine with Nomad's Brigandine, Offensive Parry or Riposte - both generate wounds as well. Offensive Parry + Imagined Pain + Nomand's Brigandine is awesome on a Shattered Pillar: tons of wounds if you trigger disengagment attacks). And you're not putting yourself in danger in the process. Your average wound count over the course of an encounter might not be that much lower. Still I would have liked it that the cap was raised back to 10 - like the Community Patch does. I don't think it makes stuff useless but it surely hurts (a bit too much for my taste).

  6. Yeah, but imagine how big my ePeen is going to be. Plus, the added speed might not matter much, but what about 5 years from now? I'm old enough to remember people saying "why would I ever need more than 40 MB of storage?" Brings back memories of that BLAZING FAST 486 DX2 processor.

  7. The Expanse s5 trailer is out. Amazon will air the first 3 episodes on Dec 16th, and after that only 1 ep weekly, same as The Boys. I hate it. Folks are praising it for "keeping the buzz going" (lel), but let's be honest, this only happens because they want people to spend money on a 2 month subscriptions before canceling, and not just 1 month. There's simply too many different streaming services now and nobody will pay for all of them anymore.

  8. There was a thread on this topic recently that you might find helpful. A Helwalker SC monk was the first build with which I completed the game, and it was a lot of fun. In a party, you don't need high resolve; I dumped it, kept CON at 10, and boosted the remaining stats. The run was a lot of fun; monks start strong and end up godlike at the end. If you would like to keep resolve high, you really should try a SC forbidden fist. They are very durable, far more than a Helwalker, and the FF curse is devastating. It does a huge amount of damage late game since it scales so nicely with power levels. Enfeebled is great because it extends all negative effects. You can easily permastun/paralyze foes with stunning surge and Grave Calling with the grave bound upgrade. Mepp22 suggested a build for a SC FF monk in the thread linked above. Wound generation isn't a problem; with high resolve, clarity of agony and Mohora wraps for food, the curses expire very quickly, healing you and giving you a wound. You also gain wounds quickly if you use Hylea's Talons.

  10. Axis Football Diaries: Week 4 vs Winnipeg Devilcats: My First Win Streak The Devilcats and Sharks are evenly matched on paper but this quickly turned into a blowout. First drive we practically sail down field for a touchdown. I'm still not sure why the were in goal line defense but I'm not complaining. They go three and out and we get the ball back and score again. First Quarter: 15 - 0 The Devilcats put together a couple of little drives but both times have to kick field goals. My guys score twice once more and both times I go for two. I'm a little two point happy since lose to St. Louis. I should probably cut that out. Second Quarter: 33 - 6 This is getting ugly. I'm calling good plays and my players are executing them. I'm slowing the game down and leaning on the run game just to get both teams out of here without any major injuries. I score another touchdown but go for the extra point. Third Quarter: 40 - 6 Winnipeg puts a real drive together and scores their first touchdown. They kick the ball deep but I'm lined up for the onside. My return lets the ball bounce a few times before finally picking it up and I'm inside my own 15 yard line. Three plays and punt. Winnipeg puts together another drive, this time starting at their own 45 yard line, and score another touchdown. I get the ball back and run out the rest of the clock. Fourth Quarter: 43 - 20 Even with the lopsided final score, the game wasn't even as close as that. This was an ol' fashion beatdown. The outside linebackers I signed after the Miami game came through for us. They had 9 and 10 tackles respectively. I noticed the biggest difference between them and the two guys I benched is they're quicker to the ball and better tacklers. Whereas the first duo would react too late for throws to in the flats and then fail to make the tackles, these two realize what's going on sooner and rarely miss tackles. In both situations there's usually a completion for the other team but the first guys would give up 7 -15 yards each pass completed. New guys give up around 3 - 7 yards. It was nice to have a big win but now I kinda expect us to get whipped up on in the next game.

  11. I agree with you completely, Boeroer. I should try to avoid such hyperbolic language. I agree that the class really needs the cap raised back to 10.

  13. It's not great. There are subclasses, but after picking them at level 2 or 3 you're locked into a set path like the kits from BG2. There are feats, but they share a resource with attribute increases and for the most part aren't as good as just pumping your stats. You can try some stuff with multiclassing (which I don't know if it made it into BG3), but it's kind of a clustercuss and I mostly see it used as a dip, like 1 level of Hexblade Warlock for Paladins to get CHA to hit and damage, instead of trying to build a character that's half and half.

  15. Vanilla monk is great too. I don't like Shattered Pillar since this class was nerfed; the 5 wound cap is pretty severe, and it makes turning wheel and iron wheel worthless. Nalpazca is great if you don't mind hoarding and using drugs; they get great benefit from them, and have the fastest wound generation when high. But they take much more micromanagement, and their big weakness is the wizard spell arcane dampener, which sends you into an instant drug crash, which is very dangerous since you can't heal at all while in this state. Personally, I prefer FF for their amazing level one ability, which coupled with high res makes you a tank who can dish out serious DPS as well. Helwalker is ideal, IMO, for dual mortar ranged builds as well as multiclassing with casters.

  16. Thanks to both of you for the advice. I have always picked the Refreshing Finale enchantment when using SSS, and never tried Encore. This is typically because when I play a chanter I get SSS ASAP, usually at level 7, when my phase cap is still three, making Refreshing Finale the natural choice. But I can see that Encore would make sense from a late game perspective, especially if you were already planning on resting frequently. I will consider this possibility this time around.
    1 point
  17. Yes, but instead of landing at 0 phrases (after empowering an invocation with Refreshing Finale) they end up with 3. With Encore they would have 6 instead (which is better obviously) but would have to rest more often for "only" having 3 phrases more after using Empower. You are totally right though that when you have no problem with resting frequently anyway you should def. pick Encore over Refreshing Finale. By the way: the shocking lash of Shocking Prelude (2% - 14% for a MC Bellower) - like Eternal Devotion - works with all kinds of damage you deal, invocations included.
    1 point
  18. normally i would agree with you on this, but the bellower mechanics are such that I found it to be *extremely* worth while to get the enchant that gives you full phrases instead. you have to rest a lot more, which can be annoying if you have good bonuses or are on a challenge like eothas or rymrgand, but bellowers benefit from having full phrase count way more than any other chanter imo. keep in mind also that unlike other chanters, bellowers lose all their phrases when they use an invocation, which means that the expected value of free phrases for a bellower is much higher than for other chanters when using the "full phrase" enchant on sasha's.

  19. It's called "Wishful thinking" and we are all guilty of it to some degree or another. Just check out the 'Avowed' section and look at people hoping it's going to be some kind of Baldur's Gate game. Taking something a Dev says and bending and twisting it into your own narrative is a trap people fall into frequently, sadly. Personally, I'm going into BG3 when its on a budget and well patched up. It's been a long time since I gave a rats ass about Baldur's Gate type games (Admittedly, the tedious party cluster**** combat in PoE kinda shied me away from it), but every once in a while you have to revisit games you enjoyed when you were a nerdgasming teenager and I'm hoping BG3 plays well enough to satisfy my character building fetishes without being bogged down by excessive clutter.

  20. I would prefer to use Her Revenge with the enchantment "Refreshing Finale" that restores the empower point and gives you +3 phrases instead of the full phrase refillment (but no empower refund) of "Encore". The nice thing about a chanter is not only that you can empower in every fight as soon as you get the scimitar but also that Her Revenge (and the upgrade) is quite good with empower so it's already fun pre late game. Most other classes are not very special in terms of empower until you get the coil. Then of course stuff like Missile Salvo, Storm of Holy Fire and even Avenging Storm (especially with dual mortars, helloooo! ) are supernice to trigger Brilliant - but before that it's just a plain ol priest/wizard/druid. I used Thekehu's Stormspeaker class with the scimitar to empower Avenging Storm once I got it as invocation at PL8, then after that switched to mortars and rain the wildest pierce/slash/shock AoE dmg (used Sure Handed Ila - Mith Fyr doesn't work with Tekehu because his race cancels out fire effects) while triggerig Brillant nearly 100% (practically 100% - theoretically a tiny bit less ;)) due to the unbelievably high amount of Avenging Storm lightnings that get put out by Blinding Smoke (hand mortar) and also the jump of chain Shot (Fire in the Hole, but less). But of course: that's not an MC build. I mean unless you use the console or a mod and make your MC a Stormspeaker. Then I would say that's the most fun way to use the empower mechanics that lead to he unstable coil and Weyc's stuff. First use with Her Revenge and later use Avenging Storm (most likely you will already have this when the coil is ready anyway). BUT: Obviously the triggering of Brilliant isn't that impactful for a SC Stormspeaker as it is for an MC Priest... If that's not cool then I would also pick Bellower/caster - just because everybody and their neighbor use Troubadour and that's just so boring right now.

  21. To be fair: it's really hard to screw up a Monk build. While most classes have some pitfalls (or let's say ditches) the Monk's stuff is nearly 100% great. Okay, you can make inferior choices if you want, but they are very obvious (like having no engagement and then picking Parting Sorrow or having low deflection and picking Imagined Pain or using a ranged weapon and picking melee-only stuff).

  23. D&D:OS I'm having a hard time continuing on. I may put this down until the full release where I'll probably make it a little further before dropping it an never picking it up again. It's just too much D:OS and not enough BG for me to stay interested. That reminds me, I've been wanted to do another run of Siege of Dragonspear.

  24. The continuous loss of Renewable Resources is quite troubling. I myself am still on a SaveGame from Launch Day, I'm on Game Day 956. The Amount of Renewable Resources that I am missing is quite staggering. When you started your Save, how many times you've Started Over, Which Patch was most recent when you started your Save .... None of this seems to matter ... A Large Number of Players are Still Reporting the Continued Loss of Renewable Resources. This Needs To Be Addressed.

  25. I think the higher price is probably down to unified CCX greatly decreasing yields. That 19% increase in IPC came at a cost. If that gives them the gaming crown in most benchmarks, I know that's the only thing a lot of enthusiasts care about. You also have the option of Zen 2 discounts, which I imagine for those more interested in multithread workloads, will be very alluring. It could be a red wall when these go on sale, with Zen 2 and 3 filling a lot of gaps in the market. We will also see more CPUs being launched in a month or so, one or two will target the 10600K. The 3600, 3300x, and 1200AF were incredible value propositions, wiped the floor with Intel. The 5000 series so far seems to have an early adopter and premium tax. I can't imagine AMD not positioning some value options by the end of the year.

  33. Yeah, I didn't. I just asked if those clamoring for MCA to get a job are also fans of Polanski's work. There seems to be this mentality that creative people that are responsible for works of art should be excused from bad conduct. Polanski is the most extreme of these examples. A bunch of you are all *gasp* he's a criminal! and yet he continues to direct and even win prestigious awards.

  34. On a good run in Brno, and naturally my players are upset because a lack of playing time, which is just due to them sucking at their job compared to the new guy. I like my CB who has 5 Determination and 8 Concentration which means he's useless in big games and makes tonnes of mistakes grousing and then having his teammates stick up for him, which causes everyone to do poorly. The games somewhat funny in how the players freak out, one guy misses 2 games due to being an offensive winger when I don't need that against Slavia or Viktoria and then bam, tantrum.

  35. I'm playing Axis Football 20. I was a huge fan of the 05 - 07 Madden games. Those were easily the deepest franchise modes in simulation football. Madden since has slowly stripped away features down to the sad franchise mode they have now which is nothing more than asset flips with minimum features--they treat it like a loss leader for ultimate team builder microtransaction mini-game. Axis Football is an indie football simulation series made in unity that focuses on franchise mode. Many of the features in past Madden games are available in AF20. On top of the normal signing, trading, and drafting players you can hire and fire coaches including coordinators, position coaches, and scouts--you can even promote and demote from within your own coaching staff. Scouting for the draft happens year round. You get your broad basic scouting reports and then start to identify real prospects over the course of the season. While you can play the games you can also coach and switch back and forth between playing or coaching for each game if you so choose. In coach mode you call the plays, make the audibles, change hot routes, and sub players in and out. This is the mode I play in. It can be frustrating at times. I just gave my RB 34 carries for a whopping 52 yards. He kept running directly into defenders even when there was open field. This, I suppose, is what happens when you try to get clever and move your FB to RB because he's the fastest ballcarrier on the team. The league is tiered and you always start out in the 3rd tier. If you make your tier's playoffs and win you get to faceoff against the lowest ranked team in the tier above you. Win that game and the following season you'll start out in tier 2. So going worst to first is at least a three season process. This adds a sense of build up and real team growth over time that's very lacking in Madden. There is PvP. You can play games against one another (I wouldn't given there's so much cheese in this game things could quickly devolve into players spamming the cheapest tactics to win--this is one of the reasons I like to play in coaching mode) or play in coach mode against one another. This is particularly cool for people like me who are better playcallers with terrible stick skills. Very good game though still slightly overpriced at $30 USD. If you love franchise modes in simulation football grab this game if it drops to around $20.

  36. Sort of a cross between Divine Divinity (1st one) and Diablo maybe? https://store.steampowered.com/app/1154850/9th_Dawn_III/ Take everything - I can agree with that motto! It's not pretty (the run animation is hilarious) and the click combat is a little clunky feeling but it works fine. The map is fairly big seems like, with the dungeons you enter being decently maze-d size. I think I likey. Edit: plus can eventually tame animals as party members.

  37. After trying to play D:OS2, the most important question is are animations skippable (including those fancy dice rolls)? Or it is as painfully slow as D:OS2 was?

  38. I definitely noticed dem checks, and they're quite frequent. The cute animated dice roll is cute, but yeah ... most people I saw either failed them or reloaded a few times. I know if I was playing I'd likely be save-scumming like mad during a 1st playthru. Another early-ish fight I saw has you encountering an event where before you're allowed to fight, the camera kept swinging rapidly/violently between this bunch here to this bunch up there, as they either fought or battle-cried, to some guy jumping off a wall to an enemy etc. It was all whiplash inducing, that camera.
