  2. our daily battle with the deer continues. the deer are winning. is a picture after we managed to chase the deer from our yard this am. the redwoods and fir is Gromnir property. is our neighbor's propane tank-- neighbor is on what is referred to as a circle lot and we had already landscaped the majority o' common area before he built, so our large lot is effective even larger than it appears to be on paper. these deer get into the fenced portion o' our yard and destroy, destroy, destroy. worst o' all, am much concerned 'bout our dogs who have free access to our backyard via a doggie door. the delicate looking deer hooves are capable o' caving in the skull o' even a large and ferocious canine in the blink o' an eye and our little yappers instinctive will bark and run at the deer. the possibility for a tragic ending is high. more first world problems, but am genuine concerned for our ankle biters as the deer literal come up onto our patio to eat potted plants. HA! Good Fun!

  4. I finished Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters. Now you don't have to. You are welcome. It gets tedious. Playing the same mission over and over while waiting for the story to progress. Getting interrupted by random events that after a while just interrupt your flow. Difficulty in the few story missions is mostly added through endless waves of enemies. That said, they have tried more than most XCOM clones to have interesting boss battles. Even if while fighting *no spoilers that guy* in the last battle made *that guy* less stressful than the reinforcements. Though I guess people into 40K can work out the antagonist, and people not into 40K wouldn't care about the name...

  5. And that is exactly the reason, why is Ubisoft together with Activision/Blizzard and EA on my never-to-purchase list across all of the platforms, with very occasional exception at GOG, if the game is older than 10 years and on discount under 5 EUR.

  6. After 6 years and 11 months, I've decided to get back to my unfinished 3rd playthrough of Atelier Rorona on PS3. The goal for this playthrough was Pie Master ending, while getting Rorona's Alchemy level to 50. Both goals were achieved successfully, although after three days of playing, I have remembered why I have abandoned the run all these years ago . Getting this ending was almost as much busywork as getting the Astrid Ending, which little bit spoiled my fun during last two days of playing. It took me 62 hours this time. Thankfully all other endings are much easier to achieve, so I hope, I will be able to get back to another playthrough after much shorter break .

  7. "Everything everywhere all at once". It's basically a feel good film with a simple message of "Talk to, listen to and all in all pay attention to your family, also be kind", but conveys it in a fun, non-saccharine way.

  8. the new ohio abortion ban which went into effect on wednesday does not have a rape exception. when the ohio bill were being debated, the hypothetical thirteen-year-old (admitted not ten, but would that make a difference?) victim o' rape were specific addressed and supporters o' the bill observed how the unborn child in such a case were innocent and deserved protection. the people o' ohio and mississippi and indiana and more states every day all has decided your ten-year-old's suffering is tragic, but that the murder o' an unborn child is a sin too great and as such the life o' the unborn outweighs the pain o' the ten year-old rape victim. people reached that conclusion. people passed jim crow laws in the south. people passed the espionage act in the early 1900s and the patriot act in the early 2000s. one o' these days gd is gonna have an epiphany... or not. is weird 'cause am certain gd has seen first hand just how terrible people will be to each other if they believe they have a reason for their actions or if they is frightened or if... whatever. heck, in spite o' statistics which show unequivocable that carry a firearm endangers others around him as well as himself, gd nevertheless carries a concealed gun with him everywhere, and it ain't 'cause he needs protection from politicians he may meet at the local feed store. he recent spoke to a divorce lawyer who shared horror stories of people doing evil to each other for the most petty o' reasons. people. were no mystery the kinda pre roe nightmares pregnant women faced and we all knew what were coming if the Court overturned, 'cause the Court didn't make abortions illegal, but it did leave the problems up to the states and their individual representative democracies to come up with solutions. we all knew what were coming but somehow now gd is enraged? freaking muslim ban all over again. people are petty and selfish and violent. not all people is monstrous, at least not all of the time, but if they were even bad only 1% o' the time you would need recognize and take efforts to minimize the evil men do, yes? the founders recognized such and took efforts to put limits on the predictable excesses and transgressions o' the people. we got the Constitution to preserve representative democracy and simultaneous to place systemic and explicit checks on a majority which inevitable abandons wisdom in favour o' greed, fear, and intolerance. the tyranny o' the majority is what leads to ohio's new abortion law. unfortunate, not enough people cared 'bout your pre-teen rape victim in spite o' fact we knew her and others like her were gonna suffer. ohio didn't do anything sneaky. the people o' ohio broadcast what they were doing and americans sat torpid and waited for the Court to fix or break. stoopid people. ordinary and predictably stoopid people.

  10. Village of Ivanivka in northern Kherson oblast, which was occupied for a very long time (probably since march) was liberated by Ukrainian army. As Malcador said, there is not much info getting out of Ukraine about the fights in Kherson, because GRU has made informational embargo on the counteroffensive and every single Ukrainian milbolgger, that I am aware of is adhering it. Also, Ukraine scored today another pretty big hit in Melitopol, allegedly by HIMARS (as the city is in the middle of occupied Zaporozhia Oblast). They obliterated the local airfield and destroyed a lot of Russian equipment. Also there are reports (which I was not able to confirm yet), that this attack was conducted simultaneously with partisan attacks targeting military infrastructure inside the city. https://t.me/hromadske_ua/23069 "Non-existent" Ukrainian Airforce also performed a lot of sorties all over the 4 occupied southern Oblasts against Russian military targets. No pictures yet, and no reports of downed UA jets from Russian milbloggers, so it looks like they might have been successful as well. Also according to NASA FIRMS surveillance systems, there were a lot of heat anomalies detected deep in Russian Occupied territory around Izyum, near the cities crucial for Russian GLOCs between Belgorod and the frontlines. Also allegedly by HIMARS. EDIT: Ivanivka was occupied by Russia since 3rd of April. That would mean, the first line of Russian defense in the northern Kherson Oblast has been breached yesterday.

  12. I feel exactly the same way just in reverse. For me Nausicaä could have done with some trimming and the characters didn't grab me. It could be that is because I watched Mononoke a couple of time and before Nausicaä. Plus the music in Princes Mononoke is unrivaled for me.

  13. 風の谷のナウシカ Well, that was a good deal better than もののけ姫, but that is not much of a surprise. Princess Mononoke's animation was more sophisticated, although it's hard to find a lot of faults with the animation in this film. I watched it on Netflix where there's most likely some quality loss of a blu ray version, particularily sometimes the colors of our little protagonist's pants are severely off. They change from white to a pink tinge to sometimes looking a whole lot like the color of Nausicaä's face, which is a little weird. Nausicaä is a figure of Greek myth, which I guess inspired parts of the film. There's one particular part that meta knowledge ruined the impact of: Anyway, much like Princess Mononoke, I feel as if this film could easily lose 15 or even 20 minutes and make for a tighter watching experience, there are a few sequences that are basically the animated equivalent of special effects for the sake of having special effects. I can't fault the artists for that, but I really wish they'd cut that out. Grave of the Fireflies and Whisper of the Heart don't have any scenes that seem to be as, well, let's call them filled with artistic self-indulgence, and are all the better for it. However, that is also probably because neither of the films lend themselves to having sequences that are just there to show off impressive animation. Anyway, the film was good. As usual, post apocalyptic settings, even if they're as interesting as this one, isn't what I usually look for in films, and Nausicaä herself is quite likeable and a better character than Ashitaka, but at times she has the same issues. What she does, though, is have a much, much better personal motivation and reason for being like that, and that integrates her a lot better into the world. Solid. Also, not really related but still hilarious, when you might end up regretting a tattoo: Dude, next time pick someone you can trust. I generally don't have a problem with that, or protagonists or antagonists that are just metaphors instead of real characters, the problem for me with Princess Mononoke in particular is that the film is not overly interesting to begin with and, unlike with Nausicaä, none of the factions or characters really appealed to me. Hence that falls completely on its face, and it kind of ruins the setup which I thought was not a terrible idea, just badly executed - at least while rewatching the film. Now after having watched Nausicaä, it feels almost entirely redundant. Nausicaä is similar and better in every way. Except maybe the usage of colors, but that's subjective. Then there's probably half an hour of runtime that could be cut without changing the impact of meaning of the film, some of these scenes drag on and on with no clear purpose. Meandering isn't a particularily desirable trait to have for a movie with a 130 minute runtime. Aside from that, no, I have not played Half-Life 2 and I'm not very likely to ever do that. For a number of reasons, the strongest of which is a dislike for Valve, and the fact that it apparently ends on a stupid cliffhanger that's never going to be resolved. Screw that.

  15. From the RUSI report, found this funny. Although maybe it's just GLONAS not working "Interestingly, the Iskander 9M727 cruise missile – and this may be true of the others also – relies on GPS and GLONAS for its satellite navigation and is unable to receive BeiDou signals. The GPS is the primary navigation tool for the missile, probably because Russian satellite coverage over target countries is intermittent and because it is assumed that the enemy will not deny GPS signals over territory that they control."

  16. for hot sauce am gonna admit we near always start with frank's, and then add flavours, fat and heat. frank's is aged cayenne peppers, distilled vinegar, water, salt and garlic powder. that is the complete ingredient list for frank's. is nothing we do not recognize or cannot pronounce in frank's and is how we would start any cayenne based hot sauce anyways. am finding frank's is a great foundation and we need only add lime or lemon, paprika or rosemary or whatever to get where we want it. got a couple o' tri-tip we effective brined and already roasted and need only finish off on the grill as am using reverse sear. reverse sear approach means we were able to cook yesterday and need only grill for a brief time for the guests. will also grill corn 'cause these folks have literal the best corn we has ever purchased... anywhere. also am making one pan fried chicken... chicken has been sitting in our seasoned buttermilk since first thing this am as we like a six-hour plus brine. got potato salad (meh), baked beans, mac n' cheese, and cole slaw all prepared in advance save the mac n' cheese. mac n' cheese will come outta the oven right before guests arrive. also have watermelon, lotta local fresh strawberries and watermelon gazpacho, although the local watermelon ain't being harvested yet so is probable from a far distant land. we bought an apple pie. *shrug* is a culinary character flaw, but we don't like making pie. HA! Good Fun! ps we do have enough ground beef (is short rib we put in the food processor) for those who wish burgers, but we prefer to cook the perfect burger in a cast iron pan in the oven so we get that ideal crusty coating only possible with a pan. nevertheless, if somebody really wants grilled, we will oblige. pps a couple days past we made a big pot o' our good red beans, so while is not as if we prepared for the 4th, we will offer to guests.

  23. Imo for an MC Illusionst/Psion my preferred spells would be Dazzling Lights (check out the -10 Will debuff which stacks with Misama), Miasma (because it's extremely valuable in combination with all Cipher powers that target the Will defense - which are a lot), Repulsive Visage, Confusion (it's more useful than one might think), Enervating Terror (jeez what a spell) and Gaze of the Adragan - not really damaging spells. And of course the self buffs because it's very good to not even getting targeted due to high defenses as a Psion. With a massive arsenal of Will debuffs and Resolve- and Intellect-based afflictions you can mess up almost any enemy group profoundly - and leave the damage-dealing part to some other party members. Like another SC Wizard: why not? But not mandatory imo. Once you opened up enemies' defenses with Miasma and then keep the afflictions going you won't need a ton of wizard spells. And you can use the Grimoire of Vaporous Wizardry + Empower to get more spells in a pinch.

  28. Tiny Tina Wonderlands - TLDR: If you liked/loved BL2 but were lukewarm or cool towards BL3, you might like TTW more. I created 5 of the 4 starting classes and played them through the early main quests (doesn't take too long), so these are early impressions. Overall for myself, I like it quite a bit more than BL3. BL3 left me feeling meh even from the start, and so far at least TTW is more "fun"/interesting as a BL game, early on. We shall see! Possible pro's: --the rpg stats (creating a character, getting 1 additional pt. each level up, separate from skill points), give character progression a better feel and the (eventual, so I hear) dual-classing sounds great/fun. --Casting spells is very fun. You will still be mostly guns - but I love it. The spells (and action skills) feel more powerful then in previous games. Feels like they're mostly worth using/building for vs. forgetting they exist half the time. --Melee power/potential has been boosted even more, across all classes. --plenty of things to search for/collect to gain boosts of stuff, vs. rush through the main quest, if that matters to you. Find all the gold dice to increase an area's loot-chance. Find poetry, find orbs, etc. --the "overworld" aspect is interesting with its own mini-quests/objectives. The random encounters on it are annoying but a lot of the time you can outwalk the trigger-npc to avoid the forces-you-in portal from materializing. Possible con's: --the "overworld" might, instead, annoy some. You can avoid/ignore it, for the most part, in favor of sticking to the normal campaign, although the entrance to the main town seems to be from there so I don't think you can avoid it completely. --inventory management (as always) plus some overlong npc dialogues, can disrupt the action pacing a bit and is always a bit taxing. --I hear the campaign is shorter than BL3 and it has no new game+/TVHM) - so max clvl is going to be lowish. There is a small end-game loop but one isn't likely to get 100's of hours out of endless replay. Most might try one or two dual-combo playthrus then stop. --if you can't stand Borderlands OTP non-stop jokes style and also can't tune such out, it's even more rapid fire and constant than ever. Just sayin'.

I remember there was a mod that could enable BG1 to run on the BG2 engine, BGT (Baldurs Gate Trilogy I think). Time to dust off some old Baldurs Gate mod sites Actually playing... mostly Guild Wars 2 these days. Been hooked, badly so, the last 4 years on that game. Watched a few youtube videos lately with a few guilds, that specializes in different mounts. No kidding. There are guilds, that create some very nice videos of the capabilities. Sadly they're quite "lo-rez" quality videos, because you can gain insane speeds on some of the GW2 mounts and recording software seems to struggle with keeping up. 35. Not exactly, The Soul Blade mod does not affect the On Kill event. It is just raw damages. It is not related to Cruel Blade (except you can't have it at the same time as the upgrade "Ghost Blade"). It Ghost Blade on Kill that is universal while Cruel Blade is not. Which is a bit unfair for the alternate upgrade. So I'll make Cruel Blade universal, for the reason you named.

  36. Absolutely what Haplok said. I made some tests recently to check which invisibility effects breaks on which action and the advantage of Smoke Veil is that it doesn't break from pure DoTs. Shadowing Beyond however does break. That means while you can use Gouging Strike, Toxic Strike, Lover's Embrace and so on with Smoke Veil and remain unseen while they tick, you can't do it with Shadowing Beyond and also NOT with Arkemyr's Brilliant Departure (which doesn't break on pure CC/debuff hits unlike Smoke Veil and Shad. Bey.). Most invisibility effects are implemented in different ways as you can see. Which is weird but that's what we got. You have to separate direct damage from damage over time (DoT), even if it "pulses". I mean sure: semantically/logically Chillfog also does damage over time. But as Haplok already pointed out stuff like Chillfog does a new attack roll with every "pulse" and then applies direct damage as a result of that attack roll. DoTs just do one attack roll and put a damaging effect on the enemy and then the "ticks" just keep coming. There are some key features that separate the two: DoT abilities: - one attack roll at the beginning - applies a hostile effect with a duration on the enemy - that effect causes damage with every tick (usually every 3 secs but there's also ticks of 1 or 6, even 12 secs) - can be shortened with high RES or dispelled with stuff like Clarity of Agony and all other stuff that reduces hostile effect duration. - you cannot get rid of them by simply leaving the area. Pulsing abilities: - an attack roll with every pulse - usually applies the effect on the ground (Chillfog for example, Binding Web, Slicken, Wall spells...) but may also be anchored to an enemy or ally (rays or beams). There's nothing on the enemy (except of course if the pulses themselves cause a secondary effect like Blind - but that's not the original pulsing effect). - that effect on the ground/in the beam also causes its effects to get applied with every pulse but with a new attack roll. - cannot be shortened with high RES etc. since the effected is not places onto the enemy directly. - you can leave the area and thus stop it from hitting/pulsing on you Because this has several mechanical implications (e.g. Combusting Wounds gets triggered by pulses but not ticks, interrupts while being Energized can happen with pulses but not ticks) the terms "DoT", "ticks" and "Pulsing spells/ability" with "pulses" have been kind of established - at least here in the forum - so that we can distinguish between them rel. easily. The same is true for Healing over Time (HoT) and Healing pulses really. Lay on Hands is Healing over Time, Consecrated Ground is Healing pulses. Just no attack rolls here in general. But HoT can be dispelled (Arcane Dampener etc.) while Healing pulses cannot. But for healing pulses you have to stay in the AoE while with HoT you can go anywhere one it's applied. And so on. Big excursus, sorry - maybe overkill - but maybe also interesting.

  37. heya! i can answer a few questions directly though opinions can differ the priest class is there not just for healing but also for BDD and Salvation of Time and getting to and staying near death for the +3 PL. Paladin can kinda do it if you pick the right subclass, but IMO because wall of draining comes so late, getting salvation of time slightly earlier has strong utility. a paladin can definitely spam heal a lot better than priest, but because the build focuses on being in near death in late-game fights, the paladin's death shield is less useful since it comes on top of healing and you can't separate the two. as for turn-based, someone else will have to comment. the perennial concern is getting favorable rounding cutoffs. i think with wall of draining you have to make sure you're hitting enough valid targets to meet the right cutoffs. getting a pet like ooblit or getting gear/food that extends beneficial durations might be pivotal. i still maintain that for blood mage you want CON more than other casters, simply because health turns into a casting resource. in fact, in turn-based, i would sacrifice dex to invest more in con and might because turn-based makes dex matter less (and i believe blood sacrifice is a free action) and more con = more blood sac early on and more might = more healing to get more health back. yeah the state of builds is pretty messy, there have been some patches that changed a lot, some that have not, and very few builds get updated for each patch and it's hard to tell from a glance which builds still work and which builds have broken. that's why on this forum when i post a build i explicitly label it as 5.0 so it's clear that it's up to date. at least in my guide they should all be updated to the latest patch.

  38. It's fantastic. Also made by Mamoru Oshii, the man behind Ghost in the Shell and the first two Patlabor films. As a friend of mine once put it, the magic in his cinema comes from the 'pauses' he's able to find and create in his films, the more oneiric segments such as the water bus sequence in Ghost in the Shell or the monologue about peace in Patlabor 2 help evoke a very distant otherworldliness to his depictions of Tokyo and so on in these particular films. Anglel's Egg is practically a 70-minute temporal stasis, it's these moments at their purest, and the result is quite the experience. The imagery, the music, the mood, it's all really fantastic throughout, love it.
