But he's part of the global 3l337. I'll be here all day. Situation in Mariupol is getting grim, Russians also struck a hospital there, am sure the response will be the bog-standard "it was being used as a military outpost" from them.5 points

Realization that if you give in to psychotic degenerate murderer's blackmail, he will not stop there but keep coming and demanding more, can be a decent enough unifier sometimes.4 points

Well that was the case before February 24th. Now, even the most prominent Russofiles in goverments demand heavier sanctions and more help to Ukraine, which was unimaginable few weeks ago... Well of course with the exception of Hugarian and Serbian leaders EU was never so unified as far as I remember as it is now. I have no clue how long it last, but with this invasion the EU is kind of born anew...4 points

Ain't "our" war, friend. Last I checked, Ukraine is not a part of NATO. You're casually talking about launching a completely new war, one that would have a fair chance of escalating into a major nuclear conflict. So yeah, maybe wait until Russia attacks you before going full Major Kong? I always find this noble talk about "willing to die to defend you" quite cringe-worthy, by the way. Of course, it's not going to be you doing the dying, right? Nah, you'll be comfortable in your very much unbombed university halls, while others do the actual dying. Heh. Yeah. By all means, find better things to spend that money on. Won't happen, sadly.4 points

Yes their soldiers are just meatballs to be sacrificed to achieve their goals. It was the same for the Russia and Soviet Union few centuries... They have no issues killing ethnic Russians in Ukraine as well, if it suits them, also there are some evidence, that few of the bombings in Moscow attributed to Chechens were orchestrated by someone else, and it was happening conveniently during Putlers rallying for taking the power4 points

I'm not so sure about that anymore. If the maintenance of their most important military assets is anything to go by, most of their nuclear missiles probably don't even work anymore. If I remember right, the arsenal needs to be replaced every 10 years.3 points

The latest patch fixed Elex 2 on Vega cards, so I'm now playing that. Already getting the distinct impression that my post trailer observation about Jax getting Caja up the duff and being a deadbeat dad was not as much of a joke as I hoped.2 points

I was thinking about this some more yesterday, and I'm not really sure. I was also thinking about why the scene was there in the first place. Spoilers for second half of the movie, @majestic, since you're still in the process of watching it: P.S. Two more episodes of Emi. If all you're doing with your magical powers is basically doing a job so your family can keep doing theirs, is that really in the spirit of the magical girl genre? No monsters or enemies, no end of the world or even regional crises, not even trying to become stronger...just using your magic and alter-ego to fix small-time personal issues when you can. Mind you, this is not a bad thing - I actually really like it. This seems like a better and more balanced version of Eriko, which was always so deadly serious about everything all the time, and had such a pinpoint focus on music/singing/performing as a central part of Eriko's life. This is much more lighthearted in comparison, but isn't silly or lacking ground by any means...I don't know, it's just been very comfy and enjoyable to watch, really. More shoujo than magical shoujo in my estimation, though. Can't tell if you're talking about the 1979 Anne of Green Gables anime or the 1990 Canadian live action show. One would presume the former given the thread you're mentioning it in, but I can't seem to find any indication that the show was ever actually called that...and you are HoonDing, after all - Emperor of Absurdistan.2 points

Very nice straw man there but doesn't fly with me. Show me where I said anything about the US starting any war in Europe? I was talking about the US defending Europe in a future war started by Russia, whenever Russia next decides to invade the Baltics or Poland or even Finland. And you clearly knew this was what I said. So you are full of BS. Also the nonsense about me not doing the dying. Same for you, isn't it? You won't be doing the dying defending your own country from Russian attack now will you? And as for me, it is logical that I won't be bearing arms myself because I am old. If I were a young man when such a war happened, I would be bearing arms myself. I get that you are a Putin apologist, and that for you America is the source of all evil in the world. Disagree with me all you want, but enough with your ridiculous grandstanding aimed at me, because that is entirely uncalled for.2 points

At first I didn't know why you posted the best line from the greatest Star Wars movie of all time. Then I noticed none of the top 10 were from Super S and scrolled down. Yeah, Super S manages to be both mediocre and vile, what a piece of trash.1 point

Yes, exactly. Anyone who rates an episode where a pedophile horse rescues three rapists from their well deserved punishment, fulfills their every wish and takes them to watch what he does at his lake where he brings his little girl(s)... even as much as an honorable mention... I don't even... that's just vile, man. Vile. edit: In all fairness (and that is REALLY hard to do when it comes to SuperS), the episode did do a good job at showing how little agency these three SOBs had over their own "life" and sparked a modicum of understanding for their position and made their sacrifice somewhat meaningful, in the end. Then comes Pegasus and everything falls hard apart. Because, really, even without agency, these three were just terrible people all in all. Could have been a really nice episode if they just stayed dead after giving up their "life" as pseudo-humans to save Usagi.1 point

To be fair, nothing in their back and forth dialog remotely suggests that Caja is raising Dex either. Mostly it sounds like she dragged him around with her on missions and left him with her underlings. The real parenting sounds like it was done by the unnamed hunters in her entourage.1 point

tolkien were the foremost expert on beowulf and is not difficult to see how beowulf inspired tolkien as he wrote lotr. the titular hero o' beowulf dies at the end o' the poem, but more significant, the champion who is facing certain doom can't beat the Ultimate Bag Guy and is most certainly gonna fail in his final quest, but in the end beowulf's loyal companion and shieldman, wiglaf, saves the day. beowulf dies victorious 'cause o' wiglaf. obviously frodo and sam is not beowulf and wiglaf. unlike the heroic figures o' the poem, frodo and sam is the ordinary everyday englishmen who in tolkien's "fundamentally religious and catholic work," must daily fight 'gainst evil in all its forms. frodo don't defeat sea monsters or grendel, but he does have a similar heroic progression as beowulf, and in the end, the fight 'gainst evil is not achieved personal but with the help o' others. sam is not s'posed to be the real hero o' the story, but tolkien clear wanted his wiglaf to get due recognition. kinda sympathize with tolkien; by making sam more important, many saw frodo as a failure. HA! Good Fun!1 point

It was a nice dream that died with this conflict, but more informed people have been saying, that you cannot decouple from carbon in such a drastic measure, because you leave yourself vulnerable. https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/green-dead-eu-energy-roadmap-has-shifted-decarbonization-energy-security-goldman-warns-0 The fossilless still needs to be a future because of the climate impact, but it needs to drive for nuclear fusion and hydrogen based techs. And that's a long game. You also need to have poorer countries on board for that.1 point

Also the Russian Central Bank can print Rubles to create a semblance of consistency within Russia and citizens can at least draw money in Rubles. Yes the currency is almost worthless but for a while people can still buy goods within Russia using the Ruble But the risk is this could lead to more inflation and hyperinflation like we saw in Zimbabwe but we still some way off as long as Russia can continue to sell commodities in $ But overall the Russian economy is looking bleak and disastrous1 point

Wow you really are angry and confused, I get it your side has been proven to be the bigger liars and warmongers than the US but dont blame the rest of us Remember its Russia that has invaded Ukraine, not the US that has invaded Iraq so you musnt get confused when you vent and express outrage1 point

Right, because the US is shooting up eastern Europe. Why would we fight YOUR war in our country? It's a silly thing to say. If someone ever invades the US, we would fight that war here, and very likely do it all by ourselves with no help from our "allies." The point is that even though your countries are what will be getting attacked and not our country, we're still willing to die to help you defend yourselves. But hey, if that's something you don't want, by all means feel free to say so. I'm quite sure the American taxpayers footing that huge defense bill defending Europe will be more than happy to find things here at home to spend our money on.1 point

And so it begins. I can see it already: Putin steps down in 2024, the war is a distant memory at that point (Westerners have the attention span of a half stunned gnat), Zyuganov is elected and the USSR 2.0 is established. KPRF admires China's growth and wants to emulate it but with Russian characteristics.1 point

Been debating plugging in Nioh/Nioh2 for the PS5 after watching way to much Elden Ring streamers. I will say that I love the art style but wish there was something slightly more coherent from the storyline in those Fromsoft games. I got one on my first run through that cathedral and used it for all of NG1...only "solid" damage, but it had unusual length and a fantastic moveset; eventually switched to the Great Scythe when I needed more damage on NG+. ...Man, now I want to replay DS1. The only Souls game I've used a huge sword in is DS2, and it was the smallest huge sword I could find because I hate huge swords...but DS2 kept making me feel like I had to use one to have good enough damage. I won't do it again!1 point

Man, this was even worse than I thought. The nonsensical use of transporter and translator technologies, lack of continuity, everyone getting postions in Starfleet despite the problems... And it is only the beginning of the season. Edit: guess who else didn't hate the first episode "Its the same team, it can't go right"1 point

Hey eastern European friends, you guys just need to keep Putin off your backs for a couple more years. We Americans are pivoting from counter-insurgency and counterterrorism ops to fighting a land war against a major peer enemy. We just need a couple of years to retool. After our retool, we'll have your backs https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2022/02/23/these-soldiers-will-reinvent-cavalry-over-the-next-two-years/ (Very appropriate the retooling is starting with the US 1st Cavalry Division, as they would have been the division that led the NATO counterattack against the Warsaw Pact in any war back in '80s.) Btw, this retool is already well underway for the navy and marine corps. That's why many US military experts are saying China will face a tough question very soon about whether they move on Taiwan, because their window to do so will actually be closing by decade's end when our current vulnerabilities will close and military power swings back sharply towards the US and away from China.1 point

MiG-29 is pretty useless for ground attack. Syria massively preferred ancient Su22/24 and MiG21/23 to using their MiG29s for ground attack and they had complete air superiority. They very occasionally used them for precision drops though- decapitating Ahrar ash Sham and Jaish al Islam's leadership most prominently. Ukraine also already has Mig29s so there's no improvement in strike range. Transfered to Rammstein, heh. They really are worried about the lot of them copping a nuke and think nuking a US base in Germany is an escalation too far. The tussle was more Russia <--> Ukraine over Sevastopol/ basing/ division of the Black Sea Fleet. In the end there wasn't much tussle for Crimea, as Crimea had no troops. Ukraine sent in ~50,000 extra troops in 1995 when it looked like Crimea might action things and when they expelled Meshkov. They also had troops deployed in 1992 when the "part of Ukraine" got inserted post facto in the Crimean constitution. The legal argument about Crimea acknowledging Ukrainian sovereignty may have been... arguable in 1992- though not without hypocrisy, if Ukrainian troops being present doesn't invalidate 1992 then Russian troops being present in 2014...- but Ukraine tore up that constitution in favour of one dictated from Kiev where the practical autonomy they got was... being called an autonomous republic, and that after a pretty extensive period of direct rule. They also specifically changed the constitution of Ukraine to prevent secession under any realistic circumstance as they'd need the majority approval of every oblast to secede. ... Not even the US made any claims about Russia abrogating ABM.1 point

I get this, but you still have a lots of other way to activate Deathblow, especially Sap, Smoke Cloud, Blinding Strike, party members, regular, Flanking, etc... Even for such builds, PD can't even be entirely relied on anyway since some foes are Resistant to PER affliction. Anyway, it would be a deletable file of BPM Optional nerf package, so easy to remove if needed.1 point
