  1. If anyone is still playing FO4 I found a GREAT radio mod. It's a Boston version of Galaxy News Radio. The DJ is fully voiced and does news and banter. Whoever he is he sounds a like Morgan Freeman. The best part is the music. They play all 1930's & '40's blues. Great stuff! Galaxy News Radio - Boston Mass.

  2. So far, I can say I like this character better than ComradeMaster and SonicMage. But I also liked Minsc.

  5. I think there was the only playthrough of BG2 I managed to do without Minsc - it was an evil one. And none of BG1. I am a sucker for continuality so BG1 is always with Imoen, Jaheira/Khalid, Mincs/Dynaheir. I never found MInsc annoying, but he is not my highlight of BG2 either. Still, I could never bring myself to leave him in the dungeon, and he is just too earnestly enthusiastic for me to be able to leave him behind. He might be a simple one, but there is beauty and purity in simplicity.

  8. Sorry to keep you waiting for so long, but got few busy IRL days behind me, soo. I do not play DS3 simply because I have never played DS2 before this year. So my own comparison is that DS2 is for me harder to play than DS1. Keep in mind, I played both games on PS3, so in both instances, these games can be little bit laggy, and I have found out, that DS2 is little bit more laggier and that is an issue to me. Myself, I would recommend you to play both games, and DS1 first, due to different rolling mechanics, which IMO is worse in DS1. So if you start play DS2, you might not like to get back to DS1, despite it being IMO better game overall. And before you start to play, thing about your temper, how easily you can enrage, when defeated I can asure you, that DS series is not for easily enrageable people And for DS3, unfortunately, I have not played the game yet. Some people are saying, that is the best game of the series, some people are angry at that game, because of Poise stat change and prefer DS1 or DS2 because of that. @Hawke64 You are correct, the Ascetic worked in Majula, unfortunatelly I have still not found a single instance of a hint that it might work at Drangleic Back to the bossfights Next in line was again Guardian Dragon. As before, very easy encounter to fight, because he is extremely weak to Soul Magic. First try, and 1min 11s to get his soul *shrugs*

  10. I used to dislike Anomen too, the petulant twerp. His arc is one of the best, though, and it's the reason he needs to be an insufferable brat when you first meet him. After all, it's hard to develop someone into a honorable and reasonable adult if they are already honorable and reasonable. Mechanically he's fantastic. Cleric is already a pretty broken class, and the dual classing rules used in BG whereby his fighter levels don't matter at all XP-wise make it even better.

  11. I like Minsc. Edwin is a moron though, even if powerful and useful. But the one i loathe is Anomen. And i think anyone who likes to use Anomen or even ugh likes him, should be forever locked away in solitary cell somewhere.

  14. Ah sorry I missed this reply. Let me add a few things I think I observed... - I had ~18 total companions, give or take, because I recruited most of the story characters, a few side kicks, and maxed out on hirelings - In a given ship battle, the number of companions actually assisting me was not consistent - Sometimes I only had my base party in the battle (myself and my four active party members). The trend I seemed to notice with this is that it would sometimes happen when attacking a weaker vessel, but I can't say for sure if that had anything to do with it) - The pre ship battle status pop up that shows hull health, sail health, and most importantly in my case number of defenders, would almost always show a much larger potential number of defenders than would show up on my ship. It did seem to be affected by the size of my ship (it might only say 8 or so for a sloop but show 18 if it was a junk), but the actual number that showed up in battle did not match this regardless A few other details: - I was playing on POTD trial of iron mode, but this sort of thing has happened to me on all the modes I have tried since owning the game - I have the latest version of the game on PC and it is unmodded, so either this is all intentional or there are some bugs...?

  21. Not sure if anyone is still playing Poe1, but whenever I get the itch to play this series I tend to do full runs. It just doesn't feel right for me starting in Poe2. I gotta get the whole experience. And so, one of the builds that caught my eye when replaying Poe1 recently was Boeroer's Sorcerer's Apprentice. Using scrolls plus deathblows is indeed a fun concept. but I thought...what if I took that concept, and applied it to making a Rogue focused not just on scrolls but on spellbinding items as well? The end result was a build that looks actually pretty similar to what he did, but altered in a few ways. But you may notice many of the talents/skills are similar to what Boeroer took. So first off, thanks Boeroer for the inspiration! So the idea behind this build is to pile on lots of spellbinding gear and sit in the back lines tossing around spells. So then, why use a shield and riposte? There's a few reasons for it. Number one, it makes you less likely to be the target of enemies which gives you more time to sit in the backlines and toss your spells around with impunity. As a Rogue and especially once you get Deathblows you can do tons of damage with your spellbinding items and spells. But you can't do that if you're constantly dead due to enemies bumrushing you. The shield helps there. However, it also gives you some flexibility. If you're out of spells or don't feel like using spells on a given encounter you can still flank and do lots of damage since Badgradr's Thrust procs benefit from Deathblows. So this guy should be a capable meleer and spellcaster both. You can use spells to soften enemies up and then wade in and clean up the remains with good melee ability. I also take enough lore to cast scrolls, and mechanics to handle most traps. This guy is a pretty good jack of all trades that way. You should have enough lore I think to cast most useful scrolls like Missiles and such (which benefit from deep wounds and death blows). Keep in mind though this guy carries 4 weapon slots. So you won't always sit there with a shield. When you run out of Fireballs with Flames of fair Rhian for example you might want to swap to Whitespire and toss some blizzards, or swap to Bittercut to use infestation of maggots. etc. You've got options. Basic strategy with this guy is use your companions to inflict afflictions (Painful Interdiction, Mental Binding and the like) and then blast the hell out of them with your spellbindings/scrolls. You can then flank and clean up the few still alive after. You can also use more clever strategies and charm enemies with Munacra Arret and Ring of Changing Heart. Eventually you can use Acuan Gimas to have some fun stealing spells from enemies too. I'm still in the process of playing this guy through and I don't have all the talents fully decided below but most of these should be the general idea. I'll try and revise this once I finish the play to make sure I have the exact talents figured out. But I think you get the idea. Anyways it's been a fun concept so far so I hope someone gets some inspiration from this. =================================== Spellbinding Rogue =================================== Difficulty: PotD v. 3.02 -------------------------------------------------------------- Class: Rogue -------------------------------------------------------------- Race: Aumaua -------------------------------------------------------------- Background: Deadfire Archipelago - Merchant -------------------------------------------------------------- Stats: MIG: 16 CON: 10 DEX: 13 PER: 10 INT: 18 RES: 08 -------------------------------------------------------------- Skills: Stealth 1, Athl. 3, Lore 8, Mech. 12, Surv. 4 -------------------------------------------------------------- Talents (a=auto, r=recommended, !=important) Weapon Focus Ruffian ® Weapon and Shield Style ® Deep Pockets ® Vicious Fighting Quick Switch ® Abilities Blinding Strike Crippling Strike Deathblows(!) 22. Because of this thread, I have paid some attention to this in recent days when playing the game (which I haven't had much time for). It appears that things to indeed change around, and in a way that is difficult to pin down, like Yefo suggests in his comment right above mine. I am inclined to say that you do *not* get everyone who can fight for you, at least not all of the time, although I wouldn't want to claim this in court without checking it further. Anyway, I do believe Yefo is right in saying that "In a given ship battle, the number of companions actually assisting me was not consistent". This is my experience as well.

  27. Minsc? Brave Minsc, following equally brave Khalid in trying to single handedly attack an Ogre in the Nashkel wilds. That's also how I knew that the 'Minsc' in Irenicus' dungeon was an imposter so left him there to be squashed flat. The thought of Minsc teaming up with Lilarcor, it's enough to make me consider taking a drill to my frontal lobes even without having experienced it directly. Other observations: 1) Jan Jensen is all the comic relief I'll ever need. Turnips >>> Boo. 2) Disturbing lack of appreciation for Edwin in this thread Meh, Anomen was so insufferable I always deliberately 'failed' his quests. I guess that does make him good at eliciting a reaction though and thus by some measures a good character...

  28. For that comparison aspect... Edit: Apparently the use of that Pink Floyd song in the trailer is a callback to how Jodorowsky planned to get Pink Floyd heavily involved in the soundtrack when he was trying to get Dune filmed.

  29. I'd go even further and recommend the more rules mod so can you tweak things even more Just quit another game because I randomly ended up failing upwards again and I lose interest with multiple kingdoms or an empire. Going to go with my old CK2 standby of making an immortal but sterile count or duke in some slightly out of the way place and seeing how long I can last.

  30. Honestly, it's better as generic sci-fi than Star Trek because it's so different in tone, pace, and focus. Like a JJ Trek movie only you never learn the bridge crew's names. I do hope you like it though because it's not all bad.

  33. In my ideal dream world the creative writing team behind a new sci-fi show would be Robert Hewitt Wolfe, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Doesn't even need to be Trek, although arguably RHW's best work was indeed on Trek (he wrote DS9 episodes like The Wire, Hard Time and A Call To Arms ).

  41. I am playing on PC Win 7, and at about 195 days in-game. In addition to the ladybug respawn issue, I have steadily noticed entire areas of the map becoming essentially "dead zones" with no respawn of previously commonly encountered enemies. This was definitely evident after the August Update, but I had minor suspicions even earlier, as far back as the second post-launch hotfix patch. I have several examples of this issue, as follows: Orb Weavers Orb Weavers were a common sight both in the Hedge area and all along the wooden log walls on either side of the Oak Tree; however, for at least 60+ days, no orb weavers have respawned anywhere in the Hedge, either in the canopy or the ground. I still see spiderlings, but the Broodmother and any Orb Weaver spawns are completely gone. Furthermore, none are respawning on the western log wall, including around the tipped over potted flower near the pond. The Oak Tree itself still respawns orb weavers (though it seems they are fewer - likely due to the lack of western respawn/roaming), and respawn continues along the eastern log wall as expected. NOTE: I do hear a trapped spider in the trunk of the tree supporting the Hedge Lab, but no other orb weavers exist there. I have no indication of a stuck or trapped spider anywhere near the Oak tree or western log wall that could potentially be causing the lack of spawn in that area. Stink Bugs Originally, Stink bugs had about five guaranteed spawn locations: 1) 2-3 in the dry grass north of the pond, 2) one usually fighting with an orb weaver near the wooden log wall just west of the Oak Tree, 3) 2-3 near a dirt mount and field station in the eastern dry grass (somewhat near the field station in the larva cave), 4) 2-3 in the barren area a little NW of the Ant Hill by some dandelions, and 5) 1-3 under the handle of the rake laying on the rock near the Haze. As of this writing, I am only able to find one stink bug at location (1), and have not seen any respawn for at least 60+ days at locations (4) or (5). Bombardier Beetles As in the case of stink bugs, Bombardier Beetles have five spawn locations: 1) two in the far east end of the wooden log wall, 2) one by the far west end of the log wall around the large flat rock, 3) 2-3 near the western side of the Hedge almost under the red deck/porch, 4) one near the entrance of the field station in the larva tunnel, 5) one usually on top of the large rock that the rake rests on near the Haze. As of this writing, no bombardier beetle respawn has occurred for 60+ in-game days at locations (4) and (5). A Comment on Ladybugs Ladybugs will respawn for me on the release of a patch usually, but the August Update patch still placed a ladybug under the world (or possibly failed to remove it as it said it would) such that I had to kill it using the now consumable gas arrows. I am currently waiting to see if doing so fixes the lack of respawn for them, but after 4 in-game days, I have not seen any. The location itself was interesting: from the surface, the ladybug appeared to be underground in a randomly raised area of dirt near the southern-most laser with the "mite cave" as part of the story mission; however, once I went into the cave, I realized that the ladybug seemed to be spawned directly above the rocky "light shaft" location near the end of the cave. It must have been spawned stuck between the ceiling of the tunnel entity and the floor of the main map. I checked this by noting my location on the map both inside and out of the cave system where I heard and killed the ladybug with the gas. From what I've gathered, it seems that ladybugs (and possibly other creatures) are spawned in "batches". Spawn three in, once all three are killed, spawn another three. If this is the case, I would strongly recommend reworking the respawn system. Having to hunt down the last creature to ensure a respawn, especially if they are still able to spawn stuck in entities, is a real pain. It may be better to set a maximum spawn count for them, and a regular spawn check interval. On check, it looks at the number in existence, and if it's less than the max, spawn more in to that number. With that check, it should look at the existing entities and see if their current position has changed significantly from their spawned in location. If not, it likely indicates a stuck entity. Force kill it and spawn another in its place elsewhere.
