  1. We've released Fallout et tu v1.0 today. The Fallout 1 to Fallout 2 engine conversion is now (core-) feature complete. That means, every Fo1 feature that was missing in Fo2 (red dots on worldmap, "Tell me About"-button, and lots of under-the-hood stuff) has been re-implemented by us. The changelog since the last update 1 month ago has become gigantic. Personally I didn't expect we'd be fixing so many issues in such a short time. Most of these are either vanilla Fo1 bugs/issues, or stuff introduced by the Fixt mod. Anyways. If interested, follow this link: https://github.com/rotators/Fo1in2/releases/tag/v1.0.1700 or this link: https://nma-fallout.com/threads/fallout-et-tu-release-v1-0.218045/page-18#post-4360863

  3. there has been something like a half dozen different locations for the state capital o' california. san francisco were capital for 'bout a year when floods wiped out sacramento before even Gromnir were born. for practical reasons which were more important before instant communication and advances in motor travel, were a tendency to make state capitals geographical centered in a state. denver, for example, is an exception to malc observation, but if you look at a map you will notice how denver is also central located w/i the state o' colorado. 'course maps may be misleading as is the case with oregon and nevada. central located is not just a matter o' as-the-crow-flies geocentric but is also a recognition o' where people actual live. try and have centered in nevada would result in a capital situated in otherwise inhospitable making pre 20th century development and travel prohibitive. none o' which provides an excuse for President o' the USA, and a guy who also wanted to own an nfl team at one time, to be unaware the chiefs play in misery... or missouri for those who have never been to the state in question in january. no, is not a big deal, but am kinda surprised the tweet were corrected rather than the wh attempting a mind bending excuse for why the mistake were actual accurate. unrelated, but more relevant to thread, in spite o' the yard short being the most memorable super bowl moment for us when game clock were running, the following remains our favorite super bowl memory. HA! Good Fun!

  4. Pierce the Bell: not worth it in my opinon if you have Arterial Strike and a ranged weapon with decent PEN. For 1 Guile AS will give you more dmg (5% multiplicative because of Power Level and raw DoT vs. 20% additive of PtB), less PEN (+2 vs. +5 of PtB), applies Hobbled for further Sneak Attacks and even Deathblows (vs. no affliction with PtB). Devastating Blow: basically the same. The mechanic usually leads to massive overkill when it's most potent (enemies' health is low) and doesn't do impressive damage when the enemy hasn't low health. Even on bosses I prefer Arterial Strike because the raw DoT on movement can be very useful here as well. With all my ranged builds both abilites could not outperform Crippling Strike which will compete for Guile. In my opinion you're nearly always better of with 2 * Crippling Strike instead of 1 Pierce the Bell or 1 Devastating Blow. So I wouldn't take any of them. Double cost (2 instead of 1 Guile) is just too expensive for what they do. Especially with Hand Mortar/Fire in the Hole I wouldn't use them. Arterial Strike's raw DoT on every enemy in an AoE is just too good. And AR doesn't matter there. Spiritshift: you get two weapons with decent base damage and a lash, yes. Lashes are multiplicative damage bonuses (unlike additive stuff like Sneak Attack etc.). Maybe more importantly maybe (but often overlooked): All forms get decent armor with 0 recovery: 8 base and scales with PL (+1) and every 5th char level (+1). This is very good for dps. Unlike other melee classes who want to wear armor you won't get slowed down - and attack speed is the most impactful variable for dps. Some forms have increased dps, others have higher AR. More specifically: Cat form gets fast claws (only 3 sec. recovery istead of 4). Its Cat Flurry ability boosts dps a lot. Boar gets raw DoT lash on top of elemental lashes (also multiplicative)and health regeneration. If you combine with other regenerative effects he can be quite tanky. Gets +1 engagement which helos with tanking. Bear gets +2 AR (that's pretty huge - better than plate armor without recovery malus). If combined with other AR buffs this can make the Bear very tanky. He also gets +1 engagement which helps with the tanking. He also has a frightening roar while shifted (prevents offensive ability use of enemies) Wolf runs faster (25%) - this can also help with dps since you won't waste much time running around. Since all items except weapon and armor stay active you can stack it with Boots of Speed and/or Long Stride etc. Also has Knock Down. Stag's Carnage is really bad. The +7 defenses are nice but nothing I would write home about. Storm Blight's jumping projectile doesn't stack with Driving Flight and has rel. low base dmg. Fury is interesting because of its passives. I think the Spiritshift form is too weak. So that's what you get when shifting. Actually when combining Spiritshift with either a dps class (e.g. Streetfighter) or a tanky class (e.g. Goldpact Knight) you can get pretty great results. Imagine a gilded Bear with huge AR (Paladin's passives + Gilded Enmity + Bear's fur), attacking with Wildstrike claws and Eternal Flames (+10% burning lash to all your following attacks, including spells) with no recovery penalty. This is sturdy yet does very decent melee damage AND can heal, buff, cast AoE dmage or CC etc. Flanked Cat Streetfighter with Cat Flurry + Wildstrike + Heating Up + Sneak Attacks hits incredibly fast and has high dps while it's not too squishy (can heal itself etc.).

  7. The "plans" last summer basically amounted to "we won't actively prevent the community from trying things, but building a mod framework just isn't something we have the time or resources for, sorry." They've largely kept to that promise. The game assets aren't encrypted, and users are able to tinker within the limits UE4 allows. However, the latest word, per the discord-sphere is: TOW2? Maybe. TOW1/DLC? Probz not.

  9. I've always been a Blizzard fan, but the past year they've been really garbage. I kept off the hate train for a long time, because I've still enjoyed most of their games even if they weren't high watermarks. I enjoyed StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3 and Legion was the most fun I ever had with World of WarCraft. But... Between the disappointing product launches, unkept promises, layoffs, corporate political bootlicking and lackluster announcements... I'm pretty sure it's the first time I haven't pre-ordered a WoW expansion. WarCraft 3 is one of my favorite games of all time yet I didn't purchase its remaster. I don't have battlenet installed anymore, not because of any kind of conscious boycott but as a hardcore Blizzard shill even I've lost my taste for them and I haven't been enjoying their products either. This WoW expansion in particular has been boring. Overwatch has gotten steadily worse as they've added content and the "sequel" looks like a DLC the price of a full game. Then there's been reports of devs anonymously reaching out and opening up about budget cuts forced upon them by the almighty Bobby Kotick. Oh how the mighty have fallen. It makes me sad. Or maybe having a baby changed my perspective more than I realized. I don't have time for grindy nonsense like BFA and Shadowlands needs to prove it's not as pointless before I return. I have no need to lay down cash for a slight upgrade of a game I've played ad nauseum. But probably the Blizzard even turning off their most hardcore fans thing. /rant Also, people remastering games left and right yet no Dungeon Keeper or Black & White. Game industry, get on it dammit. Or at least get B&W on GOG or something.

  10. Coming across multiple issues with the ps4 version. Combat UI is horrible to the point of nearly making the game unplayable with overlapping windows for the action bar and combat text. Movement becomes broken when switching to a custom formation and I can no longer move through narrower areas if my character is moved to the back. Load times are insane! Nearly a minute and a half to load an area that's one room and a single npc making quests or tasks where you need to move in and out of multiple areas repeatedly a chore. I could understand the time if you're loading a larger map for the first time but not consistently. I'm really enjoying the game but some of these issues are sucking the fun right out of it and I'm just curious as to whether or not we'll see fixes for these soon? Thanks in advance for any information. Edit: Also now experiencing multiple crashes at random points, lagging and freezing during combat, PC's being dragged around an entire map to attack enemies and the Take all command not working after ship combat.

  11. Hey, Fantastic game but it is hampered by some nagging issues such as crashes, inconsistent frame rate and the long 30 second to a minute(!) load times transitioning from area to area. Is a patch being considered or made? Thanks in advance

  12. I took Sunny to the vet today for bloodwork. So far she is responding well to the Denemarin. Her cortisol levels are high normal but improved from the diagnosis six months ago. As long as she keeps doing well on the med and I keep her diet strictly controlled (it already was) there is a good chance she can beat expectations and just keep going. I am very relieved. These two mutts mean a lot to me.

  13. I have finished White March Part 1 Expansion of Pillars of Eternity yesterday. I like the surrounding areas more than in vanilla game. I have some weakness for winter themes probably Anyway, I loved it a lot, but somehow, I have been overrun by some monsters There is still one Dragon, which needs to be slain in one cave, but I decided to wait a little bit before fighting him. First encounter ended very quickly, because I was not rested and one his breath attack killed off few of my party members

  14. I can't stop watching this. The elephant is 61 years old and at a sanctuary in Thailand. He had been used for hard labor and is in poor health. He had trouble adapting to life in the sanctuary and the staff found music helps calm him. So one of the keepers plays for him.

  15. oh i just meant that the fury gives you a special spiritshifting from ("elemental") that i would never voluntarily choose for any kind of caster. given that the fury is geared towards offensive-casting, the fact that a Cat-form animist, lifegiver, or ancient could all dump out offensive spells better (ignoring PEN issues) is kind of ironic.

  19. Agreed. Prince nailed that year. Few have come close. J-Lo and Shakira were both nice to look at but it wasn't really my thing. Of course I am always impressed at the effort and rehearsal work that goes into pulling off a performance like that. To say nothing of setting up and tearing down the stage all without damaging the field.

  22. Nationalism... this appeal to the lower brain functions seems to be a universal thing. Maybe it appeals to some inner, tribal instinct in humans? World War I + II says hello. Why work to improve your lot in life when you can go out in a blaze of glory, sacrificing life and limb for the privilege of inflicting atrocities on your fellow man, because something as abstract as a country demands it of you? (that was a trick question, the people that runs the country wants YOU to die for them, but it's an easier sell to the gullible masses who are all flag toting and anthem singing, switching off higher brain functions at the same time).

  23. No not really, just telling it like it is. Let's face it, the worst aspects of both candidates are in fact, white trash! Not in their entirety, just when you crunch them down to their worst. And what do all white trash have in common besides low iqs? They absolutely hate Marxism and leftism of any shape or form. Even the word triggers them, without any sort of understanding or comprehension of it. Which leaves me with little choice but to label them as 'white trash'. They brought it on themselves, I didn't start the fire.

  25. Long loading times are a staple of Obsidian games, in a number of different engines, games like New Vegas, NWN2, PoE, and Deadfire. My theory is that they don't segment enough so there's a lot of unnecessary loading, and they don't cull at all, so the problem keeps getting worse. Modern games also load stuff in the background during gameplay, even things you might not need to store them in RAM, just so it's faster to access, I don't think Obsidian does that. Also games like NWN2, PoE, Deadfire have incredibly small areas, with so many loading screens, gives me nightmares.

  26. Port Maje - around 1m 30s Neketaka - around 2m around 1m every time you change from a location to a world map so... it's ridiculous. you're loading more then you are playing. I have PS4 Pro (regular, no SSD). I finished PoE I on PS4 with a lot of patient (actually, two times as I was for a platinum trophy), but at least it was playable. PoE II freezes every time you change a single item on any character. It was freezing on the first cut scene in Neketaka. I couldn't pick up one crew member in a cave, as two enemies were not counted as enemies and I couldn't finish the event (re-load didn't help, re-loaded two more earlier point and skipped location..). Sometimes cursor is disappearing in the trade menu, and I can't buy anything - at least quitting the game and reloading helps here. Instead of having some useful link on a touch map (usually it's a map), there's a link to tutorials. You won't need tutorials the most part of the game. This option could be customized, but no, it's not. I finished PoE II on GOG on the release date, and I waited so much for PS4 release... But, unfortunately, it's a frustrating nightmare. I'm not sure if I'm going to play it anymore. I'm in Neketaka now, and I'm scared realizing how many times I need to go in or out from buildings and see these load screens...

  30. On a gameplay level, I have one big wish, and that is (assuming RTwP) a strictly pause button. Obsidian expanded upon RTwP with a rich variety of auto-pause triggers. And these are good, but "read my mind" is not among them (I would like it, but without violating my privacy, figure it out). So a situation happens, and you want to pause, but between you finishing the thought and pressing spacebar, an auto-pause triggered, and you unpaused. And now, you wanted the game paused for two reasons - whatever you tried to pause manually for, and whatever trigger caused the autopause - but it's actually running, things are getting worse, you have to pause again, and maybe the same thing will happen again when you do. The strictly pause button can only pause the game. It's not a toggle. If the game is already paused and you press it, nothing happens. I want that button. (It doesn't already exist, right?)

  31. Merged your thread into this one, where the topic is already being discussed. On topic: from what I know, modding MS Store games isn't possible, currently. There were plans to add mod support as of last summer, but I don't know what's the status on that currently.

  32. Yeah, that's what I was confused about. So Biden brags about getting Shokin fired, people interpret that to mean "Biden got prosecutor who was looking into his son fired!!!", but from what I very quickly read, Shokin had been starving the Burisma investigation and nothing about it seemed to be aimed at Hunter Biden himself, so none of that really adds up.

  33. Well, that's entirely subjective. I don't think I'll ever get over my love of Tolkien-esque, fantasy worlds, so I didn't think the Dyrwood was bland at all. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'awaken and watcher are very difficult to understand and pointless.' Your character is a watcher, and I don't see how either PoEI or II could have existed of you weren't awakened and a watcher. Lady Webb's death did carry weight, though. So did Duc Aevar Wolf-Grin's. When Lady Webb dies, you see the real Thaos, the man you've been searching for all along. It fleshes them both out, and I was sad to see her dead. When the Duc dies, it literally starts fires and rampages throughout Defiance Bay, forcing you to flee the city. That's certainly weighty.

  34. Not possible to do it briefly, sorry. What changed: instead of having random afflictions and other CC effects you'll have a rationalized system of inspirations (buffs) and afflictions (debuffs, including CC). They counter each other. So if you become smart (+5 INT inspiration) and then get hit by confusion (-5 INT, friendly fire) both go *pouf*. They all come in three tiers per attribute. So every attribute has three tiers of an affliction as well of three inspirations. INT has smart, acute and brilliant as well as confused, charmed and dominated. Each of those cancel each other out, tier doesn't matter. There are also resistances which you can have. A resistance lowers the affliction you get hit with by 1 tier. Resistance to INT affliction would mean that if a charm hits you you only become confused and so on. Penetration is important. You will have a PEN value for all your damage-dealing attacks. If you can't meet the armor value of your opponent (let's say 8 PEN vs. 8 AR) you will suffer severe dmg loss. Math "behind the curtain" is different when it comes to dmg maluses. Without going into detail a -25% dmg loss goes through some facy operations and "in reality" is much more severe than the number suggests. So avoid underpenetration (-25%, -50%, 75% dmg if PEN is 1,2 or 3 points below AR) at all costs. Same with Grazes. If you meet the enemies' AR then their armor does nothing. So it's not a very granular system but more like "top vs. flop". If you overpenetrate like crazy you can get a 30% dmg bonus. Crits do PEN * 1.5. so a Crit can often lead to overpenetration which will give you overpenetration dmg as well as crit dmg increase. You can multiclass. Or better: dual class. The rules are very straightforward and easy enough to grasp. You basically mix two classes and get all the goodies but they progress more slowly and can't reach the final power levels of single classes which means their abilites can't scale as high and they can't get the last two tiers of abilities. It's pretty balanced. Multiclasses tend to be more front-loaded which makes them fun to play right from the start while single classes shine at high levels and progress faster. in Deadfire classes don't have x/encounter abilities like for example the Rogue or Fighter had in PoE. Instead, they all have resource pools now like the Monk or Cipher had in PoE. Difference is that they can't usually refill that pool. So instead of getting 2 Crippling Strikes per encounter a Rogue gets a pool named "Guile" and he pays his Crippling Strikes with Guile (in this case 1 point per Strike). spellcasters get 2 spell uses per encounter for each spell tier. So no per-rest anymore. you can empower abilities. It's 1/encounter and x/rest. It means you are adding a lot of Power Levels to a spell/attack/whatever active ability. You can also use empower points to refill your resource pool a bit. You get more used per rest with more levels. Low level abilities scale with Power Level (different from char level, but is connected). That means that low level attacks etc. stay being useful throughout the game. Often those are even the best picks since they tend to be cheap but scale beautifully (see said Crippling Strike or Flames of Devotion - payed for with 1 Zeal). Crits only do 25% increased dmg now, not 50%. But as I said they tend to result in overpenetration so there's that. INT's impact on AoE size changed: it now doesn't increase radius but instead increases the actual area. The value per point is increased but still this means that it grows a lot more slowly - and not quadratically like in PoE. Stacking rules are different: active abilities don't stack their effects, passives always stack (they are visually separated in the ability tree). Passive effects on items always stack (unlike PoE). So a ring +1 INT and a helmet with +2 INT will stack. The most important things to grasp: Inspirations/Afflictions, PEN/AR, Stacking, Resource pools/spell uses and Power Levels. And multiclassing of course.

  35. Sure. Though working hard to shake off Obsidian's notorious tag of releasing broken games is a sensible one. I enjoyed playing NV years after release, and with community patch, but I hear it wasn't all smooth sailing. I wouldn't discount such areas as PoEs dungeons though - Fort Deadlight, Roderick's Keep etc. Though, those are areas which are reactive to what wants to do, rather then our character builds, which is slightly less impressive. It might be that Robert Space Industries is sucking dry all the yearly quota of design irresponsibility.

  36. kinda/mostly agree, but am thinking it is a mistake to equate chosen setting with complexity. is nothing 'bout doing a star wars game or even a dress-up barbie game which would preclude or limit complexity. setting and notions 'o type is not gonna handicap the degree o' depth possible in quest design. nevertheless, we agree with larger and more fundamental position that josh were talking o' design o' game, specific quest design, rather than larger and primogenial concerns. thus am of the mind to observe how the tendency in this thread to conjure up questions 'bout the riskiness o' a game based on setting or whatnot is misplaced. oh, and complete aside, the riskiest move concerning kotor2 were not getting their release schedule extension from lucasarts in writing, although "risky" is not the word we would use. pejorative modifying an observation 'bout diminished capacity and/or intellect would be how we would describe the risk o' such an oversight. HA! Good Fun!
