Nuclear weapons experts have been saying this about Russia's nukes for quite some time, and including back in the Soviet days. But ultimately, even if 99 out of a hundred of Russia's nukes "fail" for whatever reason, what does that matter if one works? This is why it was believed the Soviets built up such a huge arsenal, and had dozens of warheads targetted on each US nuke asset, because they themselves did not trust the techinal efficacy of their own systems. But, relatedly, one awesome silver lining to this war on the US/NATO side is that our battlefield intelligence systems have proven to be excellent, both technically and operationally, specifically US/NATO electronic and signals intelligence, warfare, and countermeasures capabilities.3 points

I bought Grounded on Steam pretty early on, but I haven't really played it. It looks like something you need to play with friends. I usually game to avoid people.3 points

I'm in the same boat, I'll probably give this a look at some point, but only because it's made by Obsidian and on Game Pass. The only survival games that ever held my interest for any period of time were Conan Exiles and Valheim. I recently tried Subnautica because it was on Game Pass and I recall several people really liking it. There was an initial "ooh pretty flaura" phase, but once that wore off I was just bored and put off by how unintuitive the base building mechanics were. Quit and uninstall, problem solved. As far as Obs games go, I'm more excited for Pentiment than Grounded. I'd put Avowed over both of them, but, until proven otherwise, I've written that game off as vaporware.3 points

Lets face it. Iran needs a regime change. Currently as backwards and oppressive as the Saudis. A concern is if they end up with something like the Shah again... or a similar puppet dictator that is all about appeasing foreign investors at the cost of his own people, as that is what led to Khomeini in the first place.3 points

Arc A770 priced at 329USD, launch Oct 12. If it actually performed like a 3060Ti that would be at least a decent price. But it will probably perform a lot more like a 3060, and worse in dx11. Also some Intel benchmarking for their upcoming processors. Fairly clear the 5950x is not actually AMD's premier gaming chip but I guess 'performs ~the same as or worse than a 5800x3d in 5 out of 9 tests' is not the best marketing. Plus mark though for starting the y axis at 0 instead of 0.90 like nVidia would have.3 points

As SC Stormspeaker chanter, Tekehu have acces to The Ranga (Avenging Storm), and with some equipments he become the most eloquent chanter. 🗲 Tekehu 🗲 Stats of Tekehu : 12-10-14-10-17-15 The equipment needed : Acina's Tricorn (+5acc with ranged attack, work for most of the spells including AS) Footprint's of Ahu Taka (+2dex, +10% healing done) Ring of the Marksman (+4acc to corrupted Beauty) Kuaru's Price (+1per & +1int) Firethrower's Gloves (+2dex ) The Giftbearer's Cloth (especially with an imported Sasha's sabre to get 2 Sabres) Torc of the Falcon's Eyes (+2per) Least Unstable Coil Blightheart Sasha's Singing Scimitar (Encore & Shocking Prelude(universal lash) ) & The Weyc's Wand Sasha's Singing Scimitar (imported, Refreshing Finale) Robes of the Weyc * In first time, killing an enemy with Blightheart trigger Corrupted Beauty in AoE around Tekehu, that can be prolonged, and because it is not restricted to combat that can be cheesed with Strand of Favor to a permanent effect. Once Corrupted Beauty is active, empowering The Ranga with the second weapon set cause to Tekehu to have, when there is at less 1 enemy at melee range (Corrupted Beauty is 1.8m radius), every 3s: The Ranga in AoE (corrupted Beauty), then : Brilliant for allies in AoE (Robe of the Weyc) Current recovery skipped (The Weyc's Wand) Refreshed +3PL (The Weyc's Wand) New Chant (Robe of the Weyc) +7 phrases (Encore) +14% action speed bonus and universal shock lash (applied to the ranga) (shocking prelude) tier- 3 inspiration(s) refreshed (depending of how many enemy are at range), then : AoE interrupt (corrupted Beauty & the Ranga, Chants, when crit) and Tekehu Stats are now : 17-15-24-18-23-20 , with +5acc (tricorn) and +4acc (3PL and brilliant) for most of spells and +9acc for Corrupted Beauty. With Each kill Fed His Fury (+5 to Might, resolve and constitution, stack with the Lesat Unstable Coil inspirations) the stats are : 22-20-24-18-23-25. That mean every 3s, Tekehu can cast His Heart Did Fill for long fight, or everything else (including The Ranga when his duration is almost over, and the spell is still Empowered). Once per combat, switching to the third set (Sasha's Scimitar with Refreshing Finale) for a Corrupted Beauty pulse allow to use Tekehu as Lord of the Storm in any fight. * Boras as Watcher Pet help a lot (+5acc with spells for party). Immunities provided by Captain's Banquet prevent interrupt and the loosing of PL, ect. Ocean's Song at Tikawara transform The Ranga into Interrupting Attack (at less on graze). The potion of Spacial Alacrity work, like Alcina's Tricorn, for most of spells and compensate Dex and Per. Of course the Weyc's items and the Least unstable Coil are great with a lot of characters (SC Druid or SC Priest on the top of the list for me) but to get 7phrases per 3s for a chanter is really strong.2 points

Oh Absolutely. I think Pentiment looks great. I am not giving up on Avowed just yet, but I also haven't seen anything to get my expectations high. A vague CGI trailer told me nothing of substance.2 points

Old stocks have limit, so at some point they will run out, but situation is not better on Russian side. As in most intensive days of their invasion, Russian artillery shoot more ammunition than Russia produces has typically produced in two years. So even though Russia has vast storages they don't have capacity to use such force for long especially when Ukraine targets their ammunition storages. So as war continues there will be inevitably a point where new weapons and ammunition needs to be produced and peace time production capacity needs to be increased if participants want to keep same intensity2 points

That is working like you suspect, with a lot of weapon sets very potent for the ability. As melee weapon for these kind of attack (full-attack-in-AoE) I personally like Frostfall as melee weapon (the +20% hostile effect duration AoE -Dispersed Suffering- trigger with any weapon kill, and Encroaching Frost (10% chance to freeze for 4s on crit) work on any Frostfall attack (including Dispersed Suffering).2 points

Most of them, it appears. Everything is of course subject to change. EDIT: A bit of fun in the middle of all this dreadful warfare. Here's some prime loot the Russians have managed to get. It's not a Holy Avenger +5, it's not the Staff of the Magi and not even a Bag of Holding for puttin' Putin in, but it's wicked cool nevertheless.2 points

@Darkpriest I understand your worries, but Thankfully, not being able to afford to give much more ‘aid’ did not stop the allies from providing the aid to Soviet Union against Hitler, else many Slavs on this board would not be commenting on this board these days So far, the West got the memo… Doing nothing would in the end cost us much more. The extremists, nationalists and neonazis would rise to power anyway, just with much bigger flow of money to fund their collaboration from Russia… Our family lived under their boots for 41 years, and we do not want to experience forced evictions and jailing on daily basis again2 points

Interesting take on the nuclear question in the war. I wonder what @kanisatha makes of this. This was particularly interesting: "I believe Putin’s tactical nuclear weapons are unusable. Even if their vehicles do work, the minute they turn their engines on to move they will be picked up by US and NATO intelligence." I would have thought that Russia was extremely keen to keep its weapons in prime condition, but that was before the war. The war has demonstrated how poorly managed most things are; it's actually been very hard to believe the stuff you see, when it comes to poor management. However, we obviously have no proof that what this guy says is correct (when it comes to the vehicles working or not). https://edition.cnn.com/2022/09/28/opinions/how-close-putin-nuclear-war-de-bretton-gordon/index.html2 points

yeah, am guessing the lack o' boyband protags and high-heeled bewb maidens with oversized weapons were too much o' a hurdle after all... the wotr aesthetic is the problem as 'posed to the feature itself. it is the "fugly" quality o' wotr which doth offend. that said, image #3 is most certain what many want. if today were in fact the late seventies or early eighties, those weird additions to image #3 would be puffy stickers affixed to a denim 3-ring binder or a trapper keeper. but in the 80s it were mostly junior high kids indulging in this kinda need to share a favorite image... and then affix decals. am not sure if photo mode is progress, but nobody is getting hurt, so no biggie, eh? in any event, based on past experience and the lack o' new features forthcoming for the enhanced edition, am highly recommending that if you and @Gorthhave any plans to respec characters, do it now before the enhanced edition update. large updates tend to interfere with respec and they most certain cripple mods if you are using such. whatever is your build situation today could be your builds for the near future. then again, maybe this time respec is unaffected... but am always erring on the side o' caution. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Yeah...the topic that is joked over forever, but it's still true. I'm not nearly as bad as I used to be, but still, with many such games the first thing I'll do is see if there's some inventory mods "just in case".1 point

No, it isn't, because as those twitter examples showcase, they would be blurry, fugly images and most likely I would consider pics of the "natural" form of the game (top down) to be more artistically interesting or appealing. I was taking tons of screenies long before photo modes ever existed, ofc. I remember cramming chrs in corners, facing walls and swiveling "camera", crouching, standing on my head, so to speak, standing in weird places trying to get better angles for shots, mods to remove GUI, back then. The main thing about such modes - well, to me anyway - is when/if they let you pause mid-game and swing around/alter camera angles, close-ups, especially of combat/action. That's the main appeal. If a photo mode is disabled during combat, or angle-change is extremely limited, to me it's 95% useless vs. just taking normal screenshots. To be able to take pics that not everyone has taken 100000 times (like those common shots from a cutscene everyone and their mother has to post). Don't need photo mode to show off a color filter/other effect superimposed over a common scene. Could do that in photoshop. Oh and btw, Stray had/has no photomode. I didn't think it needed one (some really wanted it but...) - many games really don't - it was just a game that lent itself to nice screenies, and I went back to shoving the chr. into corners for angles. EDIT - that said, I do understand on/for consoles, or people not graphic-program savvy even in minor ability, there's more appeal. And that potential for taking a pic that feels more "unique" is probably the broader appeal of a photo-mode for many.1 point

I really enjoyed your previous changes to Assassinate and Backstab, so very curious to see how this one plays out. I assume that Red Hand or two pistols/blunderbusses could apply stun to 2 targets, if fast enough. Maybe with driving flight pushing it to up to 4 different stuns from one invisibility/stealth. Looking forward to playing around with this!1 point

The biggest flaw of Banished is that (at the time) high populations would cause the game to lag to a crawl. I think I remember that at mega populations something could go wrong with the food or AI-hunger/get food system too (didn't matter how much food you produced), causing starvation. The food spoilage thing in Farthest Frontier is why I hesitated to buy/try it. I mean I'm sure when I'm bored in the winter or something, but that mechanic isn't something I'm going to like at all. I don't even like the "disasters", I typically turn them off if allowed. Per usual - I want to design and build re: efficiency, not manage random disasters. Pfft.1 point

Minor remark : Strand of Favor abuse and similar effect don't work with BPM. Minor question : have you tried using Potion of Enlightenment component of BPM ? This potion is very expensive for every fights. But it provides +1 ressource every 30s, so I expect it would affect balance between classes a lot. Anyway, thank you for every element of visibility you give to my mod. It's really rewarding to see people using it and liking it.1 point

Talking about Matt Mercer.. i think he did a great job with Eder and Aloth. I couldn't recognize they were both voiced by the same person. But if not mistaken there are other game world NPCs that he voiced as well? For example Wymund. I can spot his voice and there's similarity in it which put me off a little.1 point
