  1. Good lord, I just got done talking about the AAA gaming industry being a snake eating its own tail, and there we go again... Admittedly, there's no way Microsoft is as bad managerial-wise as Activision, but still. Someone should buy the toxic sludge that is Ubisoft so they can stop making the world's worst AAA games - that'd be doing all of us a favor, at least.

  2. Guys, I need one of these. It's $300 and the waiting list to get it shipped is super long, and there isn't much "point" to it I suppose. But I need one of these. Edit: Oh! Oh! And you can get outfits for it. The company only has a couple I think but I hear you can just get tiny cat-hats and use those if you want. I so want one!

  3. Refreshing Finale return 3 phrases and 1 empower point when a phrase is empowered, and for this side, Encore refresh all the amount of phrases ; that work only with invocations. But regular chanter's invocations are "instants" spells, triggering some other spells directely in the case of Her revenge. Tekehu have acces to The Ranga Meted Out the Fury of the Gods (Avenging Storm), wich trigger the spell for each weapon attack. Like for the Least Unstable Coil, each time the spell proc, each time the spell is empowered. That mean while The Ranga is empowered, each attack give 3 phrases and 1 empower point for Refreshing Finale, and restore all the phrases for Encore. Without the CP version of the spell (or maybe is just for avenging storm), staying in the middle of the battlefield and "tanking" grant for Tekehu a "permanent" 7 phrases, or, for safety reasons, just attacking with a blunderbust or mortar (in the other hand with Sasha's Singing Smitar) after casting a spell restore all the phrases.

  4. big difference is that every bolt from avenging storm would restore phrases (3 or all). for longer fights, tekehu just becomes a super-machine, whereas revenge is a one-shot. too bad he doesn't get summons.

  7. This has so much potential, can you imagine integrating your Microsoft account with battle.net? Read mails, chat with friends, coordinate playtime with colleagues. Host video and voice chat in World of Warcraft with its newly built in Teams integration, and show your allegiance by buying Windows 11: Alliance or Windows 11: Horde! edit: Goldshire Inn virtual meeting room?

  9. Oof, coming in sideways would definitely affect me. The first game I remember really making me sick was Descent in 1995. Strangely, I used to be able to stomach the likes of Doom / Hexen / Heretic / RotT / Duke Nukem but now not so much. Even FO:NV hit me after an hour or so. The cause? Well, theres a lot of damage between my ears, so who knows?

  10. To be (unnecessarily) clear, I have 11TB of internal disk space and, uh ... 6TB of external storage space. The 5TB is the amount I'd have to sift through in order to try and "organize" it. Organizing to me these days largely means trying to delete a bunch of stuff, but that means I have to look at every single file and figure out if I want to keep it or not. I know there's lots of stuff I don't care about anymore, and it drives me crazy to waste space, but it drives me even crazier spending hours opening files/making decisions for days. Pffft. Sifting through an old box of physical form photos to organize/toss? Kinda fun. Staring at a monitor opening/looking at files until I'm blind? Not so much. -- Edit: I'd like more storage but what I want is more internal SSD storage now, not HDD. 4TB ssd's are pricey. I suppose if the tech had been around in the early 90's, I might've created some huge digital movie/TV collection. I sure did like to VHS record (and buy) movies back then. These days I just don't care/only stream, and anything I like enough (rare) I just buy the bluray and play it from disc. I have no need for digital versions or digital portability. Although I do have a lot of videos from YouTube on one external... Game videos on the other hand ... yeah. Those 4k game videos are enormous, like 4-5GB for 30-40 seconds. It gets redonkulous. Aye. I get more like that all the time. For me it's time and energy. Even if I have the time, I don't have the energy (mentally or physically) for a lot of things I used to think were so vital to my existence. I just want to eat good food, take naps, giggle occasionally, and have a stable emotional contentment. That's it.

  11. Yeah Witcher S2 was a big step up from S1 in pretty much every respect. Dunno how much of a budget bump they got, but it also looked very much like a premium product, which at times it decidedly didn't in S1. The quality was enough that I could hand wave away some of the concerns with plot contrivance... The comparison to Wheel of Time is also pretty stark. Both had covid troubles, both took significant liberties with the source material and the like but Witcher was a quality product and WoT was a cheap looking badly written incoherent mess.

  13. Guys, forgive me, I'm tired. My brain tranformed "phrases" into "empower points" everytime I read it - and I totally missed the point OP and the following posters were making from the start. Jeez! Since it's about phrases all of a sudden : Iirc @Elric Galadreported this behaviour of empowered Avenging Storm + Tekehu some months ago. I think he got it from a reddit user or so?

  14. Well of course when there's finally some momentum up to get rid of Bobby Kotick as CEO he goes and sells the company to Microsoft with no doubt a solid chunk of cash going to him above and beyond the value of his shares. Looking forward to Obsidian's Call of Duty RPG. Guess at some point they're going to run into regulatory problems with buying up companies though, especially in the EU. Actiblizz may be on a pretty obvious downslope, but it's still got as big chunk of the market.

  20. Thankfully, I don't get that crazy about my non-storage drives. My C drive is a bit of a disaster (by my standards anyways), but I view C drives as being temporary, and therefore not worth worrying about. Eventually, it'll be reformatted sooner or later anyways, so why be concerned with it at all? My storage drives, on the other hand, are meant for permanent (possibly life-long!) storage, and so that's what I put my effort into - anything that's temporary means it doesn't matter, anything that's permanent means it does. At the very least, it's a good distinction so I never go too crazy with some of my obsessive compulsive behavior, . There's a limit to my insanity!

  21. We have a 7ft multi-level cat tree in the living room next to the back slider and our cats love it. They dont use the two "cat houses" on the bottom level but the scratching posts and flat lounging areas are a big hit. I think the height makes them feel superior too.

  22. I appreciate the sentiment. I used to be really similar in terms of organization of my hard disks, I had neat partitions dedicated to certain things, some with backups, some without. Always enough hard disk space. I also was much like LC and complained whenever Microsoft updated something and introduced a new tool or whatever, spent all the time in the world removing it again, editing the registry if necessary, and set up my own personal LFS so it only has what I want. At some point, I just stopped bothering. If something new shows up after a reboot because update #123121 something installed a new image viewing tool I'm never going to use, then... whatever, really. If there's chaos on my hard disk, then yeah, that's just fine with me. In the same way, in this day and age, if I try some game or software and it doesn't work out of the box, then it doesn't work, end of story. All the enthusiasm evaporated. If anyone told me 25 years ago that I'd eventually sit in front of 10 year old hardware I'd have laughed them off, yet here I am, writing this post on my trust old computer powered by a second generation i5. My last hardware upgrade was going from a 560 Ti to a 970 GTX... and I had the card for three months before I could muster the energy and motivation to actually install it. I'm also pretty sure I mentioned that before.

  24. Yes, for wrestling it is. Also just referred to as heat. In the older days of wrestling, heels could generate enough heat that they'd get attacked by spectators. My dad knew a guy who worked at a local tv station, so he got in behind the scenes and got to see Freddie Blassie in his prime work the crowd such that security kept having to keep people from attacking him.

  27. Yes I discovered it back when his mod also had a "Fast Empower" ability instead of Lasting Empower that removed all recovery from empowered attacks, which led to Tekehu being even more crazy since he also had a Blade Cascade effect on top of what is described here.

  30. This is an overreaction but its because of this irrational and real concern with revisionist history and attempts to teach CRT in schools in some states. And before someone says " but its not being taught in schools, stop fearmongering BruceVC" Thats only because its been blocked and prohibited in several states or it would be taught

  32. That depend, switch to Effort while the Storm persist mean you loose the refreshing effect at each proc, the "ascendant" phase, until you switch again for Sasha's Smitar! You can unlock the subclass with that : https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/179

  35. My negativity is aimed at things in general and not anything specific. Things can always be worse, hopefully it's not, but it always can be. I'm totally fine with MS taking over a large chunk of gaming and this particular acquisition doesn't affect me at all since I don't play their games. I did like Malc's suggestion though.

  39. I am still ... making maps in 7 Days to Die. First it was huge Cities. Then I switched to mini-cities, but oodles of them everywhere. Then I tried to change hills, plains and mts. parameters but I can't seem to force the game to create maps that don't have giant sections of flatland. Then after every map I have to comb the POI .xml to see if it randomly generated most of the specific buildings one would want in a single map (gotta have at least one of certain Tier5 buildings!). If I sorta like one, I then have to recolor the biome map so stuff I want is in the "right" biome/s. At any rate, 100's and 100's of maps later I still have yet to make the perfect map, even considering the limitations of the default generator. ...someone smarter than me make a new version-update of a 3rd party map generator again, before I go insane, please.

  40. Holidays means family gaming time as I go back to my parents' house for a couple of weeks. During that that I played Unpacking with my sister, taking turns to unpack each room. It's a decent enough game, cute but perhaps not as zen as others may see it. However it has way too many books. That's not a joke complaint. A lot of the game is just robotically unpacking books out of boxes and putting them on a shelf. Makes it feel like filler, especially as the low-res pixel art means most of the books are nameless, title-less and look completely generic instead of telling a story about the protagonist which you'd think the intent would be. You might say that this kind of thing is the point of the game, but differences can be subtle: organising a bunch of colourful panties into an aesthetically pleasing grid arrangement in a drawer is far more engaging than placing nameless books in arbitrary order on a shelf. Other than that I've played a random grab bag of things on the Xbox Sex. A little bit of Sherlock Holmes Crime and Punishment, co-operatively. A little Overcooked in 3-player mode (which is unbalanced in some levels that have a 50:50 geometry split). A little FIFA with the 10 hour trial thing that comes with EA on Game Pass. And sampled a couple other Game Pass titles: a little of The Pedestrian, which isn't a terrible puzzler but has an irritating interface. And Rain on Your Parade, which was just boring. Katamari Damacy Reroll which might have potential but is kinda obnoxiously loud (both in a literal and figurative sense). Oh, and Moonglow Bay, which crashed shortly after the tutorial ended and didn't autosave, and which apparently does not allow you to skip the tutorial. Ugh. Anyway, back home now for the past week but haven't really been bothered to play anything but a couple of quick AoE2 games. I half feel like doing some trucking, but a recent patch kinda broke the default force feedback settings and I can't be bothered dialling it in manually.

  42. That's why I said that an unusual shape of sale curve is something to consider. But we don't have full data. Poor Josh. He led what I consider a Masterpiece, didn't loose money (we're not speaking about Heaven's Gate or PS:T here) and still suffer from it. In a synthesis, I still believe that something about Marketing / calendar failed completely, but the game was still too good to actually fail.
