  1. Tales of Destiny Director's Cut fan translation group Life Bottle Production, got their trailer for BETA of their project. Patch is still missing very few menus well hidden in the original files and some synopsis, but everything else should be at 100% now. So if you love jRPG history, and was sad, that this game was never oficialy translated to English, and all of the fan translation efforts ended up cancelled, you have now chance to finally play it in English I am proud, that I was part of the effort in the beginning of the project, while I still had some time to make Arte and Enemy matching with official Bamco Translations So in the final patch, you might find me in the credits as well

  2. It's not. Not even close. There are a lot of red flags in this story. The university claims it was not the reason. But ok, let's ignore that part of this. This teacher said the n-word multiple times over zoom. That is categorically dumb. There wasn't a better way to teach the book? That didn't seem like a bad idea at the time? How much time do college professors spend reading from text? They aren't banning books. They aren't censoring Mark Twain (despite a good century of attempts.) They fired a teacher who seemed to lack common sense. I'm exhausted teaching over zoom because I am constantly thinking about the stakes. It is no longer me with a small group of kids that I've built a community with over the year. It is an open mike to the world and I have very little idea how it is affecting those who are tuned in. It is a very uncontrolled environment, and so I know I have to be even more carefully than I am in a typical year. Thank you for attending my TED talk.

  3. Most dogs are lactose intolerant, giving them dairy products will result in the same symptoms people with actual lactose intolerance have, i.e. flatulence, diarrhea and in really bad cases vomiting. Giving your dog a cheesy treat or two will not be harmful (well, except for the dog farts you will have fun with afterwards). Chocolate on the other hand contains theobromine (a stimulant found in cocoa beans) which dogs cannot metabolise. Depending on the amount of chocolate your dog ingests, symptoms can range from vomiting and diarrhea to restlessness and seizures - in extreme cases even death. So, don't give your dogs chocolate. Like, ever. And keep them the hell away from cocoa powder, that stuff has like twenty times as much theobromine as chocolate.

  4. I also watched the LD&R Vol. 2. Or tried to, I kept struggling to stay awake, honestly. None of the episodes gave me any sort of "wtf" or moments that make you go "hmmmmm." (good or bad) They were all just bland. I wasn't looking specifically for bizarre violence/titillation or weirdness simply for the sake of weirdness, if that makes sense, but none of the eight minisodes were compelling or intriguing. Mind, it's not that they were bad or anything ... but if something is going to be attention grabbing/memorable in 10 minutes, imo it has to have something that grabs your brain or eyes and shakes up expectations a little bit. Technically the animation of some was very well done. I did like the one re: the home robot vacuum unit because it made me humorously snort a bit. The one with the malfunctioning spaceship/home robot was ok but felt too random/pointless (might be a nice intro to a full length movie tho). The "giant on the beach" one was ... well I kept waiting for something interesting to occur but it never does so it just became a dull narration of ... humanities sometimes inhumane/uncaring/forgetful nature? I'm not sure? It's not like I loved all episodes from Vol1 equally - for me Vol1 was fairly uneven overall - but Vol1 did have some that were quite interesting/creative/fun or at least a 'wtf am I seeing' compelling kind of thing going on that Vol2 lacks. Perhaps having only 8 episodes is just too limiting too, because everyone has different tastes (I didn't care at all about the "whales" one, for example) and far fewer shorts = fewer chances that at least a few or several of them will hit for you personally, leading to a better overall impression.

  7. I love the look of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Ive never owned one but years ago when I lived in FL my neighbor had one. Beautiful friendly dog, but it would always approach me from behind. I asked him about it once, and I dont know if its true, but he said that the breed was originally bred to hunt lions so they instinctually did that. Always made me a little nervous when I would walk by their house to go to the pier.

  9. It's from the same devs who made Tower of Time, and honestly, it looks like it's going to be really interesting. It was on my radar because it was originally supposed to be turn-based (they apparently changed their minds on that early in development) but it still seems to be going in a good direction. Tower of Time was really good gameplay wise, but was a bit threadbare on the story, while this looks like it's more story focused (although there's supposed to be random generated world events or somesuch.) Still, it seems like the company actually cares about the games they're making, not just making money, so here's hoping it turns out good.

  10. Apparently you not suppose to feed dogs food like cheese or chocolate ? At my dads house he has always only had 2 types of dogs, Jack Russells and Rhodesian Ridgebacks and the Jacks eat everything and anything ....despite being told we are not suppose to feed them snacks I can never say no to them because they so cute Here is a photo of 2 of the dogs in winter in their best spot to rest

  13. told the gardeners to take the photinias down to gutter height. am at a point in life where am content with the management end o' things. had to keep the dogs in the house so they would not bother the gardeners. course the canines all went nuts each time they heard an unfamiliar noise. solution: showing the pups the smoked gouda we had. felt bad teasing 'em with the cheese, so they each received a tiny fragment. we all enjoyed cheese and not pruning photinias down to a reasonable 10'. HA! Good Fun!

  15. Steel garrote/blood mage is the way to go with an arcane knight IMO. On the wizard side, you have plenty of spells that can cause afflictions, which enable you to get the passive healing through autoattacks or Flames of Devotion. The great healing can totally offset the cost of blood sacrifice.

  17. Yes that is true, they assisted with lion hunting in packs and would disorientate the lion but didnt do the actually killing historically because a lion would normally kill a Rhodesian Ridgeback in a one on one fight but they are very good hunting dogs when trained or raised like that My dad has had 4 of these dogs in the last 25 years. Monty, Bentley, Wilson and Winston ( bet you cant guess what European country he identifies with ) and only Monty was a effective guard dog and protector ....but he really was a proper guard dog. That is Bentley in the photo and to be honest somehow the Jack Russell intimidates him So all the other dogs turned out to be very timid and quite prone to get nervous quickly...but they are lovely dogs and very affectionate

  19. Finished it right now. It was ok. The 8 episodes thing was a bit of a bummer for sure. The episodes itself.. well, at least there was not another "few fighting against waves of enemies"-story again. Not sure what to think of the 8 episodes other than "it was ok" .. It didn't really make me think about stuff, I guess. 2 episodes with failing autonomous robots .. could probably have cut one of them. The one with the whales is probably the best episode. /Edit: Kinda feels like season 2 was supposed to have 16 episodes, but they decided to split it up into Vol. 2 and 3 for some reason.

Judging from the boxes he bought this set (maybe a few of the sets...): https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Sharp-Diamond-Sharpening-Stone/dp/B01FPP46W2 As well as a Trend double-sided one (180/600) ... wouldn't surprise me if this one was recommended in some YT video, haha ... I also saw him using very fine grades of sheet sandpaper - I don't know why, probably he was just curious.

  25. I've been browsing through job postings (not for myself). I'm kind if used to HR departments putting up the most insane job postings, but... just came across a really ridiculous one, demanding perfect German and English at least on a CEFR B2 level. So what's CEFR B2? Well: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. Cambridge Assessment lists roughly five to six hundred hours of cumulative study required to reach B2 proficiency. Guess what the job is? Yeah. GL, HF with that posting. You guys must be drowning in applications.

  27. I've been playing this build solo, and have made it to lvl 10 so far. Once you reach lvl 4 and get the Moon's Well you can cruise, since you can out heal almost all damage, while dishing out serious damage with spells. Fortunately, you can reach lvl 4 with almost no fighting just by doing the quests in Port Maje. That said, I agree with Boeroer that an Arcane Knight or Herald would be easier for a first time soloing.

  28. I asked hubby to clarify a bit and my mistake ... he said he "probably" wouldn't use it to hold sharpening stones, he just wanted a permanent clamp. eg, he got long-term side-tracked and I misunderstood his verbal babblings. I guess it's one of those "wood working bench vises". Larger than the typical table-surface mounted clamps. Hence, undertable mount. I don't know why he's making 3000000 wood support pieces/making it seem so complicated but that's hubby. I learned not to ask for reasons on anything he does long ago. I figure it's safer. ... hubby likes the journey more than the destination. Thus he will spend weeks/months trying to be a master blade sharpener, get semi-decent at it, then will probably ... never sharpen a knife again. Like how he had a ball making those 3D printers (vs. buying one to just plug in), but doesn't care about actually printing, so now they're sitting on a shelf somewhere. He got into computers for the same reason. "How do PC's work? I must study electricity/physics/whatever and make my own! ... what? Actually using computers? Pfft, boring, I'll be in my secret lab."

  29. Unorthodox opinion on the wealth accumulation. https://www.zerohedge.com/personal-finance/praise-1-they-provide-improving-standards-living-99-percent While in principle I agree that this worked in the past, as wealth was built from investments, now it does not and will not work that well going forward, due to which investments return the most profit in the reality of free money provided by FED and tech leap displacing simple jobs and offshoring more complex jobs.

  30. As much as I like the general idea and realisation of this build here (because the synergies are neat und fun and it looks awesome in action) I don't think it's that easy in the early game. At least without Berath's Blessings (start at lvl. 4). Imo if you want to play solo like you would play with a party (and are not superexperienced and also don't have a lot of metaknowledge): pick an Arcane Knight (with Bloodmage). The Paladin subclass doesn't matter that much I'd say. I like Steel Garrote because you can drain a lot of health with Concelhaut's Parasitic Staff (stacks with the Steel Garrote's passive) which is nice for Blood Sacrifice and spares you Zeal (no need to use Lay on Hands). You can later even use the Concelhaut's Draining Touch trick* to have an awesome draining weapon with build-in affliction + shield (but that's a bit exploit-ish so maybe not your cup of tea). Shieldbearer and Bleak Walker don't add much though for a solo run imo so maybe don't pick those. The Arcane Knight can have high defenses right from the start (Faith and Conviction + Mirrored Images and also Quarterstaff modal, later Mirrored Images, Arcan Veil and so on), high AR (Spirit Shield + passives), good healing (Lay on Hands) and tons of tools for any situation really, so very versatile. On top of that you'll have a cool summon at some point, too (Essential Phantom). And as soon as you get Wall of Draining you'll be a demigod because stuff like Lay on Hands and all buffs won't run out. The only Achilles' heel is hostile Arcane Dampeners. Some enemies like to cast this as soon as they see you. You can prevent getting hit with it with a very high Will defense (usually the case bc. you want high INT and RES anyway) but also by using Arkemy's Brilliant Departure at the right time and so on. Herald is also a very solid pick and can be played in several ways. More on the summoning side which is always powerful and at the same time sturdy as heck as well. Very versatile, too.

  32. If you use a no rest run you can get +10 acc, +50% healing done - get a few more bonuses, that is really good, helps a lot. If you rest, you can use per rest abilities (summon drake (dragon pendant), and quite a bit more). (a ranger can stack +acc and damage or deflection against his chosen race each time he rests, in a no rest run you can get it against one enemy type, in a rest run against the type you need) Both are strong, however higher stats are always good, per rest abilities... there are good ones, but its not great in every situation (okay, for a solo run to summon a drake every fight is a great fight opener) There are a few ways to fight: 1) endless dots and run 2) summon stuff that tanks 3) tank yourself 4) run around and make sure the enemies don't deal more damage than you can sustain 5) kill stuff fast 1) isn't mentioned in your post, but i wouldn't call it normal, however its the easiest way to win POE2, you use the "you die" button, after that the "i don't get attacked" button, after that you wait until the enemies are dead - rinse and repeat, no counter play, just a few encounters where you can't hide (withdraw scrolls with enough item slots?), as Boeror said. 2) that's one of the easiest ways to fight "normally" 3) no rest run helps a lot, i play characters that tank against anything the game throws at them and survive - but thats with +50% healing done in sustain tanks, maybe there are enough usefull per rest abilities (summon drake and kill a few enemies at the start of the fight could do the trick...), but thats probably possible with a lot fewer builds. 4) no rest would help a lot, however this can be done with many different characters, if you are (much) faster than the melee enemies and have high dex they are useless (until you fail your pathing), but that's not a normal playstyle. 5) i haven't tried this approach in a long time, you can have fun in many encounters only to get obliterated in the next one with no chance, i don't know if its even possible to play this way in POE2 (did it in POE1... but the encounters are way different)

  33. Ah right. Sorry, I mixed that up. I was able to finish Hauani O Whe with such an Assassin/Paladin and was using Marux Amanth. I don't recall every detail but at lvl 20 you can be rel. sturdy with this (if you want) and Marux Amanth helped to quicken the process and gave me back a bit of resources I guess. The first stage (killing the mountainous ooze) is easy because it doesn't move around and just dies from the DoTs. But I remember that the gigantic oozes wandered around a lot (patrolling) when I was invisible so it wasn't easy to wait out until their health was lowish enough to rush in and prevent the merging. I used Bounding Boots to move around and kite but being able to come back very quickly for an interrupt if needed. I used a ton of scrolls of Thrust of Tattered Veils (auto-hit, always interrupt, cheap, only 1 Arcana needed) and abused Lethandria's Devotion (switch weapon sets to heal up) to spare Zeal. The tons of smaller oozes provided enough Zeal via Virtuous Triumph to be able to use Brand Enemy lots of times. It was very tedious though. Using Sacred Immolation for killing smaller oozes is no problem though if you are willing to abuse Lethandria's Devotion. Obviously that's not exploit-free anymore. I personally would just skip megabosses with a "normal" or exploit-free solo playthrough.

  35. For the next version of the patch, I'm planning to rework a bit Unbending (Unless CP does it first, since I know they planned to do it anyway ; CP has priority over this kind of stuff) so it provides a fixed % of damages received, most likely only buffed by Healing Received bonuses. Currently Unbending has an easy time healing for about 150% damages due to incoming attacks triggering additional ticks (and Unbending Trunk feels redundant). I'm aiming for 40% for Unbending/Shield and 60% for Unbending Trunk (so 60%/90% with Mercy Chant). I have to check how it works exactly. As a consequence, I felt that Fighters could get a buff. MC Fighters will be fine anyway so I'm mostly concerned about SC. Toughened Fury has a really weird design. Receiving Crit is not the way of a class with such high defenses. So instead of 25% +1 discipline on Crit, I plan to go with 10% +1 discipline on damaged. EDIT : I will tune it down to 8% +1 discipline on damaged. 10% feels a bit too strong. Critical Defenses had a poor synergy with it. Even with the change above, I plan to adjust it to 50% Crit to Hit. Why ? To give SC fighter a distinct edge for defense. Crit resistance is critical with high AR cause Crit PEN bonuses basically make them ignore AR. This passive will probably be "above the curve" but I think it's nice for a class to have a few ability above the curve. This has to be limited to SC though. These are the main "generalist" buff, but I also think SC fighter needs a buff to their Tanking features. Take the Hit is meh. Even with my change which makes it almost instant, I fear that spending ressources just to redirect damages isn't going to be good, especially for a Tier 9. Therefore I plan to make it free. You won't use it every time but it will be there when you need to protect your allies. Unrelentless could be buffed to +5 discipline. Yes, this is huge but the ability is Tier 9 and situational (you'll need to get a wound to get back ressources). The 2 latest changes would work well together to make SC Unbroken nice to play. With these changes, I hope fighters could be the enduring tanks they are meant to be. But tell me if something feels really broken. Edit : also since I have already made many changes and points for tiers 8-9 abilities are limited, picking high tier abilities will require even more careful choices (toughened Fury will probably stay a must pick though). And I think this is good !

  36. Now that Larva can be found underground masquerading as Grubs, whenever you get the "Kill 5 Larva" quest, you are not credited for the ones that come out of the ground. I have experienced this a lot lately as it seems to be one of the quests that likes to repeat for me. Also As I've seen in another post there are an abundant amount of Weevils around until you receive the "Kill 5 Weevils" quest and then there are virtually none around anywhere.

  37. That's totally fine imo. With a lot of games (with a story) it's what I do, too. What actually keeps me playing PoE and Deadfire is this forum. So many ideas get discussed that at some point I want to dive in again and try something new. Often I don't finish the run then though but lose interest before (once I validated that something I thought about works - or doesn't). Sometimes I manage to finish though. I don't do Megabosses most of the times - it's just too tedious nowadays.

Fresh stuff such as Specialist Wizard rework, Drug Crash vs Arcane Dampener less dumb, Potion of Enlightenment by @Noqn (also exists as a standalone mod), Psychic backlash limited to once per 60s instead of per encounter, various improvements The changes are easy to spot thanks to the <Version 1.4.2> tag in the mod description.
