  1. This may be the highest price tag I have seen on an early access game. Are they certain they know EA stands for early access in this instance and not EA?

  7. DLSS 2.1 is insane, not necessarily useful to anyone outside of 8K, but damn interesting what it can do to 240p content. If I was on a budget, with a 3060, I might consider 1080p -> 2160p DLSS ultra performance as a viable option over 1440p. I can't really see any benefit to DSR super sampling combined with DLSS ultra performance compared to just using balanced and quality DLSS, it's just a obsolete better than TAA solution.

  11. Well, if you can prove a conspiracy theory it isn't one But the chart seemed more than ends rather than the means, so there'd be redundancy as the lizard people use it to enslave humanity through Christianity while The Illuminati uses Islam. A security flaw in a hi-tech chastity belt for men made it possible for hackers to remotely lock all the devices in use simultaneously.

  13. You know how in most rpg's you're trying to save the town, planet, or the world, or something? Are there any where you're the evil guy destroying them instead and you have to thwart the goodies? And not in the "your chr. can make Evil path choices". Like Dungeon Keeper/Evil Genius but more rpg or something.

  14. I would counter this by saying its the biggest conspiracy theory ever loosed on mankind. Specifically engineered to control masses and cause tribalism without a single shred of hard evidence. Imo. "Real" and "conspiracy" are in the eye of the beholder wrt religion...unless you can point me in the direction of any proof whatsoever? Ill give you until the end of time to provide a link. Isnt it though? Maybe not so shadowy, but religion is used every single day to control humanity. Dont we see real life religious strife to this very day?

  15. Arguably "Fallout" was already pretty damaged after Fallout 4, which was a mess in all respects. The fact that Fallout 76 was so much worse that it made people mostly forget about Fallout 4 is, well, impressive. Fallout 4 had the whole paid DLC controversy (combined with other mod-unfriendly behaviour, like disabling achievements in modded games. Bit nasty since the unofficial patch is almost mandatory) which severely damaged the modding community for Bethesda games (effects of that entire fiasco could, and still can, be felt even in Skyrim modding). Technically the game is just barely holding together (it's bad, even for a Bethesda game). And what passes for a story, well, let's not even go there. Still, having Obsidian make a Fallout might result in people being much more likely to give that franchise a second chance given how well received New Vegas was (once it got patched into a state that people could actually play it). Not to mention the generally positive reception of The Outer Worlds. At this point having another studio with Fallout cred handle the franchise might be the "reset" that's needed. BioWare is going to have a much harder time with Mass Effect in my estimation at least, because not just the Mass Effect "brand" has been tarnished (don't forget the ME3 ending controversy either, it's not just Andromeda), but BioWare has also driven its own brand into the ground on almost every occasion it's had to do so. The fact that the studio is owned by EA doesn't do it any favours either (strange are the days when MS is viewed in such a positive light, comparatively, heh)

  16. I think Fallout after '76' is in the same boat as say Mass Effect after 'Andromeda'. It's going to be a very steep uphill battle to change public perception.

  17. I agree, but it's also how people post about it. Some of the posts and comments about the new patch are quite childish and, not sure how obsidian handles these, but from other game testing experiences, the devs tend to ignore them. We're all frustrated with these recent bugs, i get that, but if people want their posts taken seriously they should step back a few calm down and then post about the bugs. Also send them an email with the info they request, the more data they can get from us the faster their investigation may go and the faster we may see a patch.

  18. it might have been worth continuing on this party into late game and DLC. DLC can sometimes crush parties you might be doing well with; base game difficulty scaling sort of peaks at 12-14 with possible limited exception with nemnok and the fampyr island. even with the patch tweaks for balancing, base game difficulty mostly just means more health without any appreciable harder challenge after a certain point. meanwhile a FS-end-game oracle can facetank a couple empowered evoker missile salvos (and you actually probably just screwed yourself since you triggered a lot of enemy spawns in the process). ironically, aside from spamming missile salvos end game, I personally don't find evoking spells particularly powerful on potd upscaling. Frankly, Slicken is OP and is a transmutation spell. maybe you're just used to using evoking spells a lot so it "feels" powerful through familiarity? (shadowflame, crushing doom, and missile salvo are all very good evocation spells, but that's a small subset) I always use some of the Fires for some extra challenge. I only tried once and don't plan on ever using Eothas/Abydon and I will never again switch on The Ultimate and only ever use Magran for turn-based mode, but I always end up mixing some subset of the others. Ondra is very nearly always on for me, because it makes exploration a bit less mindless and makes it harder to use early ship bounties as a "free" xp bump [which means it's harder to outlevel earlier quests and encounters, at least initially]. Galawain is a solid choice for challenge - it can really wildly change up some fights (I had a run become extremely difficult in BoW because every "scourge" gained Unstoppable; I had a Belranga fight become quite a challenge because an entire cohort of spiderlings gained Bullish). I also like Skaen as a subtle party-nerf (you basically have to give up a weapon slot for a torch if you want to improve your stealthing or avoid getting hit by things you can't see, and even then you'll still find situations where enemies will be able to attack you from out of your line of sight). Those are my top three, but I mix and match the rest for a given run. Rymrgand can seem tedious by its description - but I didn't find it so - you basically just stock up on some foods when you would shop elsewhere. What it really means is that it's much harder to get good resting bonuses when you're out and about, and you end up leaning more on alcohol or limiting your rests away from an inn.

  19. yep you're the only one in the world that has ever seen that movie, and had that idea here in the forums already. You can't befriend insects, they have such a simple brain it's not possible. Best you could do is lead it around with food on stick (like riding the pig in minecraft) but if something else came along that was more interesting, or a danger, the food on the stick would be ignored.

  20. I just don't use consumables (except basic food when resting and unguents for the occasional hard skillcheck) when playing with a party. It's not because I want a bigger challenge but because I don't need them at all and using them is the bigger incovenience compared to not enjoying their bonuses. I usually only retrain when I messed up something. I don't even retrain when playing solo. I also don't use scrolls and figurines solo but I will use potions.

  21. Only minor stuff for me : - No planned respec. - No stat dump (not below 6, rarely below - My own mod Nerfs (it kills all gamebreaking combos) I would also like to define some home rules to prevent myself from fully minmaxing companion. (Such as "rolling" semi-random stats and imposing one of the class)

  22. Best Yet .... How About a Base Blueprints Gallery The Ability to scan your base ... and upload it to The Player Base Gallery Then other players could browse the Gallery ... download blueprints for your creations .... and build them on their own Many people have posted that they are not creative base builders ... I've had people invite me to their games, just so that I can build them a base ... obviously I can't do that for 50 or more different people .. no matter how much they liked my buildings ... BUT, if they could download my blueprints .... and it just told them to add this much clay, pebblet, stem, grass, rope, sprigs, clover ... and whatever it needed ... and they could build it themselves .... LOTS of players would LOVE that and there are TONS of creative players out there building all sorts of interesting things a Blueprints Gallery would bring a new level of interactivity to the community, allowing us to share our works with each other DIRECTLY and not just through pictures in the forums and on Reddit ...

  24. Technically I suppose this isn't news, but I searched the forums and only found one post about it (and the gameplay is new-ish) but I just saw this for the first time yesterday, a new game from the Tower of Time people, and I thought it looked pretty cool.

  25. I'd like to see this as well. Also could be a cool BURG.L quest type "Rebuild" that gives you a location to go to with a half destroyed structure that was made by a survivor some time ago. There would be a blueprint to find first then you go rebuild it and find some hidden loot or something.

  26. The game has a hidden score system for grading which faction is the strongest. Certain quests will raise or lower the strength rating of certain factions depending on the context, these are usually related to the faction questlines. The game also tracks how many NPCs you kill and which faction they belong to. Each time you do this, you lower the strength rating of the corresponding faction with named NPCs being worth more points than unnamed NPCs and elite unnamed NPCs being worth more than trash mob NPCs. This includes bounty quests. Also, keep in mind that I don't know the full list of actions that change a faction's strength score and there could also be other factors in play that I'm not aware of. If there is a specific faction you want to fight at the end, do their quests all the way up until the cut off point (which varies for each questline) before sailing to Ukaizo with the faction you want to side with. Also be absolutely sure that you DO NOT get into any unnecessary confrontations with members of the faction you want to face. Try and talk your way out of fights and don't attack the ships of your target faction, not even for bounty quests. The system is a bit backwards in that attacking the faction you don't like throughout the game will make them less likely to be your rival in the end. The logic being that they therefore have less manpower and resources to spend on the massive push to try and claim Ukaizo, but still. If all else fails, you can edit a faction's strength rating with console commands by changing the global variables (n_Faction_Strength_RDC n_Faction_Strength_VTC n_Faction_Strength_Huana or n_Faction_Strength_Principi) but be warned that activating console commands WILL DISABLE ACHIEVEMENTS FROM THAT POINT ONWARDS IN YOUR PLAYTHROUGH.

  28. Thats a good video by the way, I havent seen the new Blade Runner So I always RP and imagine my character and the party on this epic quest, similar to AD&D/D&D traditional RP so the game is just an important framework when I think of the choices and decide on the way forward as the adventure unfolds Now for me if I am on this quest to literally save the world , face death at every corner and spend months sometimes camped in the wilderness I would definitely connect and build real relationships with my companions on different levels. You then add the unparalleled beauty and seductive allure of party members like Isabella, Viconia and Morrigen to that relationship mix and Romance is not just likely its expected. Its immersive if you think about what you would be doing during those longs nights around the campfire or tavern after much revelry and drunken debauchery

  29. I think it usually does the complete opposite - making companions feel less like people and more like less convincing Joy. If let’s say complete strangers are kidnapped together and are consumed by parasites dating is probably not in their mind. It is also hilarious how everyone PC recruits is available. PoE1 are some of the more believable, relatable and “immersive” companions I have experience precisely because they feel like they have their own life - our paths just intersect.

  31. You'd only have to fire them, not build them. Debonaire/Beguiler with single handed pistol (+modal) is not bad. Scordeo's Trophy with Opening Barrage and Critial Shot, Eccea's Arcane Blaster for backup. Charm enemies and get 100% crit conversion against them (also for Disintegrate). If you shoot charmed enemies you won't get focus, but the crit dmg from Scordeo's is usually very nice. It's also very nice to later use Ringleader ad shoot some of the charmed enemies while the dominated one attacks them afterwards. Rogue/Sharpshooter with Red Hand. Assassin/Bleak Walker with Dragon's Dowry, Ring of Focused Flames and Ring of the Marksman. Ascendant or Ascendant/Helwalker with Kitchen Stove's (Thunderous Report). Usually instant ascension after Thunderous Report. Shared Nightmare also embiggens the cone of Thunderous Report - as does Healker's Duality of Mortal Presence (INT) Bloodmage/Bleak Walker with Blightheart. Eternal Devotion and the Blightheart corrosion lash not only stack on gunshopts but also on spells which is awesome. All buffs includng heals can be prolonged (endlessly as long as enemies are there) via Wall of Draining. Bloodmage/Black Jacket with 4 weapon sets full of blunderbusses. Cast Combusting Wounds and then unload all blunderbusses on enemies.

  32. Can someone explain to me the popularity of Panda Express? Local chinese food restaurants are ubiquitous, you can't walk two blocks anywhere in the US without running into one. They are dirt cheap, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to prepare, and there's a 95% chance that it will be better tasting than Panda Express. Why would anyone EVER go to Panda Express rather than Dragon Wok, or whatever? Do Americans really crave below average orange chicken? What am I missing?

  33. I went to the movies yesterday and while I was queuing (wearing mask, keeping distances) the guy behind me struck up conversation. Which basically ended with him explaining to me that he is 27 years old, hasn't worked a day in his life and currently is just lazying about, waiting for his grandmother to die so he can rent out her apartment. But he really thinks young people should pay more attention at school, because waiting for your grandmother to die is boring. And oh, is that a poster of James Dean? He died in a car crash. A Porsche. It was a Porsche right? Of course it was a Porsche - Porsches are cursed after all. Obviously they are cursed, James Dean died in one!
