Mmm I'm not the most super informed but in brief probably the environmental related and foreign policy stances would be the biggest ones. Not that I think anything changes much in the long term since every President undoes "something" as well as doing "something". Most US elections are a lot of fanfare about nothing, in a way. It's just some years there are better choices for human's endless hopes. Not issues related: Call me age-ist if you want, but I'm personally tired of old farts running for office, especially 1st term's. I'd prefer people 62 and under.3 points

Been mucking around with an alt in Final Fantasy XIV. Playing through the early game again really underlines how "heavy" the story becomes later. In Conan Exiles I've mostly been playing the new DLC map, Isle of Siptah. I'm still not quite sure how I feel about it. the entire map feels PvP focused, every resource is centralized in some way to maximize the chance you'll run into other players, but it is a new map, with new story to uncover Wild Surges only spawn low tier Thralls, T2 crafters are as rare from Wild Surges as T4 spawns are in the Exiled Lands oh yes, Surges are the only real way to get Thralls there's no Purge, so there's really no reason to build a defensible base in PvE (then again, the Purge is so buggy that even a defensible base doesn't help if they just spawn inside. So yeah, just ditching it was easier than fixing it, I guess) to get better thralls you have to grind a whole bunch of new resources to spawn a "greater" Surge, which only gives you a chance at better Thralls. A very low chance, if the CE forums are to be believed, and there's then even the chance that you'll get non-humanoids spawned too, which are entirely useless. there's basically nothing to do on the island until you get high enough level (45+) the various combat and healing nerfs that came with the expansion have made boss fights, and the early game, really painful (combined with the terrible hit detection and dodgy server code...well, combat's not the game's best side, imho) various crafting materials drop that you cannot use since the recipes appear missing from Siptah (but maybe just haven't found them yet) Since the last mod I needed updated for my Exiled Lands save has now been updated I might just go back to playingbuilding there for now. Still got a humongous pyramid to complete, after all2 points

The worst presidential debate of all time In 118 days one of those two fools will be President of the United States. God help us all. Anyone still think I'm crazy for wanting a small, weak central government? It certainly minimizes the damage that can be done by fools!2 points

Now that I think of it, the Pawns in Dragons Dogma. It'd be one thing if they were just blank slates, but not being able to get hybrid classes really sucks. I have 250 hr in Kingmaker, of which at least 100 (in all likelihood 200) is having the game running while I do other things. The game is ok, but the love some folks have for it is headscratching. It's really weird to see people who hate turn-based games praise it, given that it's built on a turn-based ruleset jammed into a real time chasis. I think Deadfire is better in every way, but I guess my taste is weird.2 points

I was looking for help on the Changeling's Dance fight in SSS for a solo Monk, but couldn't really find any here. Finally figured out how to do it after numerous tries, albeit with a strategy that only works roughly 1 in 8 times (but still better than impossible!) and a lot of luck. Wanted to share my experience. The Situation/Refresher: This is the fight in SSS where you're forced into the body of a construct and lose all active abilities. You gain an AOE fire aura and interrupting attack (with some AOE). As a part of the transformation, you also keep the following abilities: Passives (including Iron/Turning Wheel for Monks) Pet Bonuses Food and Drug Effects Attributes Bonuses (including Outlast Respite, Prostitutes, etc) The enemies party consists of a Rogue, Cipher, Monk, Fighter, and Ranger (with Animal Companion). Strategy Overview: Eliminate the enemy's source of infinite damage (Rogue, via Gouging Strike) and range threats (Ranger and Cipher), and then rely on drug/pet HP regeneration, armor and superior speed to outlast the opposition. Take advantage of the Monk's disengagement bonuses to avoid flanking and reposition to maximize AOE. Equipment and Skill Set-up: Abilities: All points put into Passives + Iron Wheel (+2.5 armor - for this fight, I prefer this over Turning Wheel) Skill: Max Alchemy (for Drugs duration) Pet: The Giftwrapper (+1 armor, HP regen) Food: Hylea's Bounty (+10 Def, +25% HP) - Both the HP and Defense was huge. Not sure if I could have done it without this. Might give other food a try later to test. Drug: White Leaf (HP Regen, plus concentration and will) Other Bonuses: Konstanten's Boon, Alchemic Trio (Outcast Respite), Berath's Blessings On first review, Monks don't have the beefiest passives, but they do have an above average stride bonus (+25%) and a nice disengagement defense (+32). With Iron Wheel and Pet bonus, you also have 16.5 base armor in the Construct form. Given these bonuses, a key defensive tactic I used was to eat a disengagement to avoid a potentially devastating special attack - i.e. Sunder Armor from the Fighter. With a base 10 CON, I was able to have a starting 478 HP for the fight (unfortunately the Iron Wheel CON doesn't help since it seems to just boost your max health). Full Breakdown: The key to winning the fight is to kill the Rogue before she can land a Gouging Strike - since that eliminates our ability to outlast. This is really where the 1 in 8 chance part kicks in. Since she's using a gun, you can't use the disengage tactic to avoid her hit. You can only hope for an interrupt, a miss. or her not using it at all. If you're lucky, Heartbeat Drumming triggers and you'll have a good time. Once she's low on HP, she starts spamming escape - during this time I usually focus on the next lowest HP enemy or the Ranger, and then refocus her when she reappears. While focusing on the Rogue, reposition (eat the disengages) so that you can avoid being flanked, getting hit by sunder armor, and catching - ideally - all of them in your AOEs. The second biggest threat is actually the Fighter, but it's not profitable to focus him down early (you want to wait out the Constant Recovery). The biggest thing to worry about is Sunder Armor. Fortunately, you can see it coming, and can eat a disengage to run out of range. This is where Iron Wheel is incredibly useful - if it does land, the extra armor means you don't immediately die to a series of over penetration. His charge stun is also very annoying (but not always fatal). The Monk and Cipher are usually near death by the time the Rogue goes down. The Ranger is technically a higher priority due to his ranged damage, but occasionally I focus those two down to get them off the map. The Monk can be quite damaging due to his bludgeoning damage type. Once the ranged threats are down, you can actually run around infinitely (due to your superior speed) and regenerate health while the remaining enemies chase you unsuccessfully. For me, most of the time it's the Wolf and Fighter that's left. The Whiteleaf's 400s duration should be more than enough, but even if it runs out, you can still rely on the Pet's HP Regen (which is infinite). If you want to be cheeky, you can actually run just slightly ahead of the enemy and burn them with the Fire Aura without getting attacked. Seems to work well on the Fighter but the Wolf dodges everything. I was using a Helwalker ( 9, 10, 11, 16, 16, 13 ) for this solo run. It's likely easier with base class and Nalpazca since they don't take the extra damage. Not sure about Forbidden Fist and Shatter Pillar due to slower wound generation (which we need for valuable armor). Going to do a high resolve Forbidden Fist run soon so I'll see... Videos (Trying to Embed - hopefully this works): #1 This run was decently smooth, I only had to rely on the HP Regen cheese #2 - It went very smoothly this time I have a couple of other runs recorded, but didn't upload those as I stupidly forgot to show difficulty/builds, etc. There was one attempt where I regenerated from 2 hp back to 100 to finish the fight...1 point

I haven't seen anyone upgrade Squid's Grasp into Certain Mutiny over the mutually exclusive Attempted Parley. Here's a fun way to trigger it consistently: Make a Berserker Witch. Equip any party member with Squid's Grasp (upgraded with Certain Mutiny). Confuse the Witch with Frenzy. Have the Witch cast Puppet Master on themself (possible thanks to Confusion). The wielder of Squid's Grasp will get two Tier 3 Inspirations, and the Witch will no longer cause friendly fire since Dominate overrides the Confusion from Frenzy! It's also doable just with Charm, but that would disable the target's Abilities. If that's acceptable, the best option would be a Debonaire's charm which also generates up to three Body Inspiration on the target.1 point

Yeah, Isle of Siptah for Conan felt a bit empty. I think it is the lack of all those enemy camps everywhere. I set it side for a bit. I know the base game doesn't have a ton of story, but I do feel like I stumble across more letters and stuff.1 point

Dominated is much better since you still can use all abilities. When charmed, you can only autoattack, as you note.1 point

@Ivanfyodorovich Yeah, sea battles in Deadfire are unpredictable due to RNG and depend little on your skills. Personally I'm trying to avoid them as much as possible in no-reload. My current run with Cipher(Ascendant)/Druid(Lifegiver) is pretty smooth and fun and I think I'll be ready to full saga no-reload with him after finishing this run. Stay tuned!1 point

My oak tree wolf spiders are stuck in the ground. I saw the legs sticking out when you get to close but that was only once. Besids that the wolf spider on the north west side of the oak tree under the leaves is not respawning.1 point

I didn't think I'd have much of an opinion on this, but Berath's portfolio isn't *anything* death-related, it tends to be death in terms of stoic inevitability and cyclic death (the reps are rational and stoic), and prayers to Berath may be to merely delay the inevitable. While it's hard to express that exactly with spells, I feel like we lose a bit of flavor by getting rid of the stoic-seeming Holy Meditation and the delaying Salvation of Time. Adding Death Ring at the expense of either of them would make Berath more like Rymrgand (Vatnir gets Death Ring) and make Berath feel more "primal" and less reserved. As for Wael's tweak - while I think Iconic Projection is kind of a weird choice in vanilla (but I mean Wael is inscrutable so who knows), I think bumping all the spells up and adding capricious hex would make Wael too good as a subclass, highlighting its strength as an add-in for glass cannon builds or being a glass cannon itself. Earlier access to Mirror Image, and earlier access to multiple casts of Mirror Image is very good. Uniquely, priests also get a pair of slippers that grants +1 to tier two spell casts, which would give Wael a huge boost if they get Mirror Image at tier two. Instead of moving all the spells up, I would instead recommend simply changing the tier two bonus spell. As an idea: "Bewildering Spectacle" seems like a subtle enough effect (with a very Wael-y name), though this might dilute the wizard too much. Maybe even just changing it to another priest spell? Not a lot of very compelling/in-theme picks at tier two though. edit - Woedica's Fealty is a dominate ability, no? From a systems perspective I disagree with this choice. Ciphers are supposed to be the dominators, and letting priests do that dilutes the cipher too much IMO. edit 2 - for similar systems reasons, I'm not wild about Smoke Veil for skaen. As it stands in vanilla, Skaen basically has 12 guile worth of rogue abilities. Smoke Veil would be another 4. At the level that it is proposed, it would also be accessible for multiclassing. I think it dilutes rogue too much. (And also excacerbates a rogue/skaen oddity - a single self-empower would restore an enormous amount of effective guile)1 point

For a solo wizard, what about Bekarna's Mercurial Madness on yourself? Couldn't try since I didn't get that grimoire yet, but it says "target", not "foe" so I was wondering if you can cast it on yourself.1 point

Well I’m definitely going to be watching. I hate them both, don’t give a damn which one wins the election, and which one goes home in ignomy. They are both trash. But watching an absent minded and doddering old man argue politics with a know nothing blow hard, especially when neither of them has a clue what they’re talking about, sounds like entertainment to me. Do you know the worst part? I’m not even sure which one of them is which!1 point

What you have missed: Drudanae is now called HoonDing and mostly only posts screenshots. Usually without comments, though the screenshots often include text. A number of people have kids now. I don't really post Mordheim screenshots anymore. You can now win the internet here on the forum: it counts the likes and other reactions you get throughout the day and whoever gets the most for that day wins. Or Raithe wins. Usually Raithe wins. Keyrock still plays games nobody else even knew existed. A number of people play Conan Exiles and the screenshot thread will every now and then be filled with impressive feats of digital desert architecture. And scantily clad characters taking it all in because a) it is hot there and b) they spend all their money to pay for construction materials and the cost of steel and concrete went up again because the oil price went up and that left them without money for a coat.1 point

I do keep meaning to do a re-run of ME Andromeda at some point. Ah well. I have now managed to spend slightly over 70 hours in Conan Exiles exploring and building. Worked out that for an engagement value of £1 an hour, it was value to pick up the DLC's and have all the added aesthetics for my building shenanigans.1 point
