  8. I figure I might as well make one of my last meals, before The Covid kills us all, a good one: From a BBQ place 150 yards from my company's terminal in Florida. The sausage was good, the ribs were terrific. The best part is that it fits my carnivore diet, on the off chance I survive and wander the desolate streets of what was once civilization.

  9. I've been playing "The Council", adventure game kind of like Telltale, only not really, because, a) no pretty artsy style, b) choices actually matter and lead to noticeable story branching, I got vastly different results from two playthroughs and from what I saw there's ton of ending variants. Oh, and there is skill system like in RPGs. Always nice to get better at breaking and entering. Pros -- story and characters, con -- backtracking. Ouch so much of it. Character-based game, I understand, blah blah, still, to be confined to several rooms for entirety of the game is a little too meta right now. Looking forward to their next game, apparently based on VtM. Gonna be good, given how much abuse can be inflicted on the poor protagonist of "The Council", the studio know their gore and morbidity.

  13. I may be getting carried away. In anticipation of playing X4 when I get home, I ordered a new flightstick. My Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X is pretty beat up (I've had it for many many years), the stick... errm.. sticks when twisting the z-axis, the deadzone feels too big no matter how I adjust it, and a couple of the buttons work only when they feel like it. With that in mind, I ordered a Thrustmaster T.1600M HOTAS. I was torn between that and a X52. Were the X52s still made by Saitek, I may have been more invlined to get one, but they got bought out by Mad Catz a few years back and I live by the mantra "Mad Catz = Garbage". These days I believe Logitech makes the X52s, so maybe the quality has bounced back, but I decided to go with the T.1600M since it uses the same stick components as the top of the line (and ludicrously expensive) Warthog (albeit without the awesome metal casing) so it has the same surgical precision. Also, way more buttons than my T-Flight and a buttload of 4-way hats. All in all, it should be a significant upgrade. I'm pretty excited to start building my galactic empire.

  16. Yes...all part of our übermensch-plan. No one can withstand our blonde blue-eyed nation!! You make it seem like there's this big conspiracy to recruit future "Norwegians", but it's more about people not doing their job properly. There's nothing wrong with the guidelines, or the idea behind Barnevernet - it's just that way too many of the people who work there lack the relevant skills and education to do so. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if barnevernet were more lenient with African immigrants. I often meet attitudes of "they don't know any better, we need to help them" in my line of work when it comes to African parents, while more is expected of our Eastern european immigrants. Maybe that could be how that "we only kidnap Norwegian-looking children" story originated. In any case, conspiracy theories like that are silly.

  18. Yet people keep voting for Democrats and Republicans and wonder why we don't have better government. Stop voting for parties with entrenched corruption and things may improve a little bit. Edit: To expand on that, I don't think all out Revolution is the answer, there's been enough Revolutions in the modern era, and all have produced lukewarm results. Voting 3rd parties, at least in America, would be seen as Evolutionary rather than Revolutionary, and I'm more than content with that. If a successful 3rd party comes around, it would force the other 2 parties to compete, thereby improving things adequately.

  19. I can fix all that right now! People get mad when their tax dollars go to support people who entered the country illegally right? Simple solution: no more taxes. If you don't tax no one's hard earned is wasted giving anyone else a "free ride" or whatever it was they were getting. And without taxes there is no refugee camps, or ICE rounding people up. See how easy that was? I just LOVE when the thorniest problems have simple solutions!

  20. I was gifted a bottle of hot sauce (...same person). Dragon in the Clouds by Hot Ones. One: it's really hot. Two: it tastes like trash (super bright and fruity, which I don't really like for hot sauces). I made some fried rice with yesterday and I've had heart burn since - must've really screwed up the chemical balance of my stomach or something for it to persist this long. Nearly ruined the rice with it flavor-wise, too. I asked the person if they would take it back - turns out they got two bottles of it and have barely used the one they opened, hence why they gave it to me. Threw it directly into the garbage after I learned that. I like spicy food, but I can do without that, thanks.

  21. I can understand the frustration. It was the opposite for my girlfriend and myself. We've had multi-monitor setups for years at home and only had dual monitor setups in the office for about 5 years in our current jobs. For us, it was a breeze to set up a work laptop to act as a CPU and hook up keyboard, mouse and dual monitors to simulate a work PC without having to take desktop computers and monitors from the office. I'm really loving working from home. Being able to wear shorts and a t-shirt while working and taking breaks whenever we want without someone looking on. Also, we can finish our work within a few hours and do other personal stuff instead of having to sit in an office for a full day where sometimes there may be a lull in the work and twiddling your thumbs, waiting to go home.

  24. I tried playing Dreadfire. It gave me the option of importing a savegame (not going to happen as I'd have to suffer through PoE1 (where I am probably near the end - I have to decide which god's help to accept before jumping in a hole?)). It said I could also create a custom world state through the Options menu. At that point there was no way of getting to that menu without finishing character creation. I felt this was extremely irritating: being forced to Alt-F4 because you want to choose an option the game informs you that you have for that specific choice. Devs should be forced to play their own games. There probably is a circle in hell where exactly that happens.

  25. The good thing is that once people see you actually follow through with a few conversions they thought silly, they start showing that grudging hobby respect because silly as they may have thought it would be, you did pull it off (though I have yet to make teddy bear marines)

  26. Yeah, a number of friendly local game stores weren't sure if they should remove the "friendly" from their description when they saw that Though I also had one person for years try to convince me to convert an army based on that.

  29. Bah, camera is too centered on him, so unless one has a major crush on Reedus (I don't) it's still too limited. Not replaying those funky combat chapters or those movie-long cutscenes to try there - plus those would be really spoilery. That's enough of that.

  30. Ok, changed my mind on image quality. Once you figure out how their aperture, focus length and other settings work it's not bad actually. At least on the PS4-Pro/4k. Going to take creativity to get cool shots that don't feel completely Sam/Reedus-centric. You can remove him from a shot but I mean I'm terrible at "scenic" stuff, pfft. Anyway, it's not a 1000's of shots game like FFXV (combat animations are few and repetitive) but I suppose I'll use it a tad more than I thought I might.

  35. Avadon: The Black Fortress. It might not be the prettiest RPG I've played, but I do like its writing. (Spoilers for the end-game). God Eater 3. The final DLC has been released. Regalia Balmung. The Crimson Ashlands. These missions seem harder with AI-partners, because they cannot adapt to the conditions and requirements (at the upper right corner - the party can cause damage only when AT is active).

  37. our baked beans is heavy on the jalapeno. the recipe is also heavy on bacon-- 1lb bacon:1lb beans. as healthful as is beans, with bacon, molasses and brown sugar making major contributions, our baked bean recipe deserves a surgeon general warning label. beans need soak overnight and then takes 'bout 6ish hours at 250 to fully bake, so is not a 5PM decision for a 6PM meal kinda thing. positive side: 'tween the plentiful bacon and jalapeno, the house smells delicious whilst cooking continues. is one o' our more popular potluck offerings. maybe not quite on par with our mac and cheese, but is in the tight group o' potential second bests. am assuming folks have an overabundance o' legumes n' such at the moment, so later we might post recipe... gonna head to store for 6AM opening. HA! Good Fun!
