  1. *sigh* statement is manifest untrue. is more than a little evidence o' collusion. oh, and collusion and conspiracy ain't synonymous, so don't go there. if this were a corporate collusion case, then maybe you bring up synonymous, but ain't. as we have noted multiple times, the folks who understandably parrot barr summary 'o no collusion and no obstruction are making a terrible mistake. Fed Judge: ‘Difficult to Reconcile’ Mueller Report with AG Barr’s Statements knowing meeting with and encouraging a foreign power to provide dirt on a political rival is behaviours consistent with collusion, but mueller found insufficient for criminal conspiracy charge. find where in mueller report trump were cleared o' "collusion." we will wait. too many people with a lewandowski understanding o' the mueller report, a problem which we actual sympathize with as report is ponderous and dense and legal technical. no recommendation o' criminal conspiracy charges is different... and is the nightmare expressed by more than a few commentators after release o' mueller report. if trump, who mueller found to be unreliable and deceptive, were not subject to any kinda prosecution for his dealing with russia, then what happens in the future? with bar set so high for criminalization o' conspiracy, what stops a candidate from dealing with foreign powers to gain advantage over political rivals... other than conscience? as long as a candidate didn't active and repeated plan and coordinate with the foreign power, they is able to meet with and collude with russia or ukraine or whomever? is ok to let foreign power know you will meet with 'em to get dirt. is ok to meet and accept what you believe or hope is such dirt. IF accusations 'bout trump and ukraine is true, which is not the immediate relevant issue btw, then is kinda bizarre, but believable. the stuff russians got prosecuted for and mueller kept trying to warn Congress 'bout to no avail is what trump did. day after end o' mueller investigation, trump active leverages US taxpayer monies appropriated by Congress in an effort to get a foreign power to investigate a political rival? what? and same day news breaks suggesting the subject o' whistleblower is trump and relates to using money to encourage a foreign leader to pursue an investigation o' a political rival, the doj makes a bizarre claim in fed court: the President, and by necessity anybody tangential related to the President or his business and/personal activities, is not subject to criminal process for as long as the President remains in office. what? btw, not prosecute is hardly same as prove a defendant didn't do that which he/she is accused. we mentioned the ben roethlisberger situation recent in the nfl thread. da in announcing no prosecution made as clear as possible his belief ben were a bad guy who did a terrible thing... which is what mueller tried to do in his report and even during his evasive testimony. one thing mueller did make clear, which nobody wanted to listen to or focus 'pon, not even democrats, were that the trump campaign were deceptive and irresponsible in their dealings with russians, and that mueller were much concerned 'bout how candidates would deal with foreign powers in future elections. sadly, what trump no doubt learned from mueller situation is that he is functionally untouchable save by impeachment, which dem leadership has been reluctant to pursue. oh, and 'cause am getting figurative hoarse from repeating, the biden stuff and ukraine calls and all the other guesses and demands for transcripts and whatnot is all freaking side issues. there is a credible and urgent whistleblower complaint which is being withheld by the dni 'cause o' urging from somebody not in dni chain of command. how is this fact quickly becoming tangential? have heard people suggest the reason nixon left office were smoking gun evidence. that ain't history. after tapes were successful subpoenaed and made public, 'cause a President can't avoid all criminal process (duh,) only 1/3 o' americans were in favor o' continuing impeachment. reason nixon actual ended Presidency is his efforts to obstruct Congress. republicans final came to realization that nixon efforts to impede investigation and to undermine Congress were a breaking point beyond which they could not tolerate. Americans were angered by stonewalling more than they were bothered by the break-in. nixon were a far better President than trump, and more successful, but his efforts to trample the Constitution were a bridge too far for Congress. thank goodness enough republicans shook off partisan politics to do what were right for the country. HA! Good Fun!

  2. After 3 years long break, I have finaly finished my Grand Campaign of Crusader Kings Complete from GOG. In 2015, I have started as one of the smallest counties in Kingdom of Hungary, as a Count of Gemer. Due to carefull planning of marriages, I have became 31 years later the new Duke of Nyitra, and 6 more years later in 1105, the almighty King of Hungary. After that, I have slowly expanded my realm to the east and south, with occasional special marriages, to get the possibility for my children to inherit other Counties and Dukedoms. 347 years later, after I've defeated Golden Horde, Bulgars and other heathens, and had few struggles with infidels of Byzantium, I had became King of another 7 countries. I've became King of Hungary, Bohemia, Khazaria, Burgundy, Croatia, Georgia, Sicily and Rus. My kingdom had 102 direct vassals and 197 counts, dukes, bishops, and archbishops under my command. Some of them rebelious some of them loyal, but the Kingdom overcame few of their revolts and had a potential to grow more but the end of the game in 1452 came faster than I thought

  4. transcript from Helsinki was altered, by WH; press conference video of Acosta was doctored, by WH; little reason to expect complete transcription with Zelensky contents of complaint are all that matter; if 'multiple acts' are indeed documented, falsifying the Ukraine call transcript may be one ...

  7. The supposed deranged teenager, as Skarpie called her, is a teenager with aspergers. She is also not pushing a specific agenda, but rather imploring people to listen to the vast majority of scientists on the issues. But hey, gotta dig around until you find a few folks who reinforce your chosen narrative, I suppose.

  12. Trump is accused of colluding with a foreign government. It is later proven he didn't. How does he celebrate being absolved of the accusation? By colluding with a (different) foreign government. The only thing that makes this more bizarre is the accusing party used opposition research compiled by a member of a foreign intelligence service. You see what I mean about the whole thing being a sewer infested by s--t covered rats? All the rats are trying to tell you the other rats stink. But all you smell is s--t no matter what.

  13. My difficulties with the IRS are now resolved. That is a bunch of f-----s you do NOT want to deal with. They seem to take a perverse pride in causing misery. I'd wager part of their training program includes torturing kittens to death slowly. Fortunately for me the settlement was favorable for me. Well, thanks to the tax lawyer I retained. Of course knock off what I had to pay her and it wasn't as good. Still better though. However since it was a dumb f--k lawyer who knew s--t all about tax law but still gives advice about it that got me into the mess I'm still down on the whole profession. No offense to Gromnir, Enoch, or Nep. A word of advice to my fellow Americans out there. Do not defer your taxes. Even if you think you can. Even if the law says you can. Just don't do it. Pay the sonsofbitches what you owe them every year. Hell even if you think it's wrong pay the f-----s anyway. They are like the f-----g mafia. It's cheaper to just give them what the f--k they want up front and get rid of them. Plus once that stinking camel gets it's nose under the tent it will assuredly start nosing into other things that had nothing to do with the original kerfuffle. Sorry for the rant. Writing checks to the goddamned government makes my chest hurt.

  15. Exactly what I thought when I heard NBC was rebooting Battlestar Galactica. They will only f--k it up. The 2004 was not perfect but it was really, really good. When it comes to remakes it's a definite turn off to me. Unless the remake is going to be more faithful to the source material than the original. If a remake of TPB is closer to Goldman's book than the 1980's version then I'll watch. The Cohen Brothers remake of True Grit comes to mind as a "good" reboot because it was more in line with the Charles Portis novel. Denis Villenuve's Dune remake promises to be the same from everything I've read.

  16. Yhh, my Kingmaker playthrough is currently stuck right after getting the title to the land. So far, it has been just to grindy to be enjoyable. I would invest an evening, and all I would do, is fight the same enemy composition over and over again. I did return to Dark Souls 2, after bouncing of it hard when I jumped into it right after DS1. Maybe once I feel a thirst for a isometric RPG Kingmaker will have more appeal. Deadfire sated my apetite... until Disco Elysium comes out that is. That one looks interesting.

  18. Agreed. It does the job, and has a pretty comprehensive roadmap for the future. While it may not be as feature-complete as other storefronts, I still haven't encountered the "truckload of cons" that has been claimed. Much of the hate seems based on how the storefront worked well over a year ago, or a handful of rumors that the launcher is secretly spyware for one reason or another. Nintendo's eShop also doesn't have a shopping cart, consumer reviews, hassle-free returns, or community forums, yet it barely gets any of the grief that EGS does.

  19. That's just an opinion. They are giving out free games like candy. I got the entire Batman Arkham and Lego Batman collection the other day when I did my once a month log in. Someday I may even play them. It's just a game launcher. It plays games. Just like every other launcher.

  20. I've enjoyed both quite a bit. I haven't had much chance to play Deadfire or visit the forums since I started the game about a week ago, so I'm still only into the second area of the first real city, but I'm liking it a lot. More than the first one, to be honest. I enjoyed Kingmaker also, and I'm part of a rather large Pathfinder tabletop group. I like the background and... ethos? of the Pillars setting more, but I appreciate the familiarity of the Pathfinder setting. I really got a lot of fun out of the kingdom building of Kingmaker at first, but it got to be a hassle in the end. So much was tied into it, though, that it's hard to toggle it off, so I muddled through until I got irritated and stopped playing. I think I'd just finished taking over some bards kingdom a while before I stopped. I'm really digging the ship element of Deadfire much more than I expected. I haven't had hardly play time with it, but the little I have is intriguing.

  21. They have multiple unannounced projects. Brandon Adler is a project director Adam Brennecke is a project director Matthew Perez is a project director Josh Sawyer is a project director Not to mention Sawyer's project code name is Missouri, and Outer Worlds is Indiana. That's a lot of states between those two.

  23. I wonder if Volo is celebrating the Danny Dimes Era or upset that the G-Men won without Eli? Either way, sucks about Saquon Barkley, that dude is spectacular and I hated seeing him get hurt. To switch gears, there was some atrocious play calling yesterday. The Bucs having the ball in chip shot game winning field goal range then PURPOSELY taking a delay of game penalty to move the ball back 5 yards when their next play was a kneel down to move the ball back another 2 yards and to center the ball on the field. But that doesn't even compare to the Browns running a draw on 4th & 9 when the game was still well within reach. I can't even wrap my head around that play call. That may be the single worst play call in the history of the NFL.

  24. Ye i agree Boeroer. i find POE 1 and 2 more accessible than d&d / pathfinder. i never played tabletop d&d so playing a game based on pathfinder to me seems really convoluted compared to POE. I played pathfinder a for a little while and it makes me appreciate POEs straight forward attributes, more balanced systems, and commitment to no trap builds.

  25. Pong, First video game I ever played. Asteroids and Warlords on the Atari 2600. One of my uncles had a 2600 and we played four player Warlords a lot when we visited. Adventure on the Atari 2600 - beat it and found the "secret" by myself. Quite chuffed over that at the time. There was a proliferation of local arcade in shopping centers that had video games; remember playing Crazy Climber and some of the off-brand Pac-Man titles that I think were technically bootleg mods and Mr. Do's Castle. Spy vs Spy on the Commodore 64, playing against my brothers with the winner being able to keep playing and losers switching. Phantasie as the first RPG I tried playing that I had some success on (had tried Ultima but wasn't good at it). Loved that I could have monsters in my party! I remember the first time I solved a particular puzzle in Time of Lore that had vexed me regarding needing a weapon to advance and the relief I'd felt after hours of trying to solve the puzzle. I remember playing Bruce Lee and my brother vowing to play the Green Yama to help me beat the game and then always double crossing me (until I got good enough to deal with it and still beat the game). I remember my mom and dad coming into an arcade (rare!) to watch my brothers and I try to beat Dragon's Lair (and later Space Ace) on the large TV screens they had set up so other people could watch the game as it was being played (crowds gathered around it just to watch). I remember when the Street Fighter II Championship Edition came out having a series of tied matches with an opponent using M. Bison where I finally lost because I butterfingerd the attack that would have tied us the last time (and got me the win). I broke the reset button on my SNES because when SFII came out I kept messing up the code to unlock the bosses and kept reseting until I got it right. Playing Golden Axe in a small pub in the UK. Had a Shining Force II game where I'd gotten every character to level 99(!) by retreating in the last battle repeatedly to build up each team member. Also participated in building a FAQ for rec.arts.games for SF II, my first experience with trying to connect to game fans online. Being shocked at how poor the translation for Breath of Fire II was (to the point that I'm still not exactly sure what happened in it at the end). Console war fights on rec.arts.games and the fights with Working Designs/Victor Ireland over their translations (particularly their use of humour and pop-culture references that were very different from the actual Japanese games). Fallout, BG and IWD brining me to the old Interplay threaded forums before Black Isle started their message board...

  29. I didn't test everything, but as long as you can find a spot out of the enemies sight you will be able to restealth and repeat the procedure until you kill all of them. The Splintered Reef is however more tricky because there are many enemies immune to pierce. If you play in normal mode you can use repeatedly Thunderous Report from Kitchen Stove. With Berath's challenge activated you will need the Hand Mortar or the Arcane Blaster to kill them. Auranic is no different, however it will take a little bit to destroy the obelisks because you have to use the Arcane Blaster vs them. The only dangerous obelisk is the terror one, but the Fearless ability will ensure you will be affected by fear at best which won't prevent you from using Smoke Veil. The most tedious is Belranga because if you kill the spiders without her seeing you she doesn't get angry and her defenses won't go down. Each time you shoot her the spiders have to check near her and they become stuck from time to time preventing the combat from ending and you have to use Smoke Veil again. Of course you have always the possibility to use Gouging Strike + Lover's Kiss on her, then wait until she's dead... Like I said previously, only Hauani can't be killed reliably because destroying it won't prevent the split every time.

  30. we wouldn't be bothered by a film which draws heavily 'pon Princess Bride, but is not a remake. release a film in 2020 or beyond which clear is homage to princess bride is fine, 'cause am understanding how as much as we love the film, is not fitting with many current notions o' gender and class roles. we got nothing 'gainst making a movie where a buttercup (not named buttercup 'course... buttercup is the name a pre-teen girl gives their horse in a book circa 1950) needs save her westley and she is perhaps deaf or dyslexic or something. large % o' movie has folks insisting not-buttercup will fail 'cause she is a girl (even after they see her do stuff which would require superhuman ability) but not-buttercup ignores 'em all and ends up saving the day and kissing the girl. have knockoff version include characters which is obvious homage to the goldman book/movie? didn't mind sir alec guinness playing merlin in star wars. homage is fine. need more characters o' color and a few more female characters would be welcome. am not certain how to do a homage to carol kane w/o having carol kane, but we leave that aside. if somebody wants to do a film for 2020s that millennial moms will be proud to show their daughters and will recall the whimsy o' princess bride, then sign us up as a supporter. we can be as grimdark as the next guy, but we adored the princess bride book and movie. somebody manages to do movie with similar fun and equal dialogue, then am 100% in favor. if is simply a remake with a few minor changes to make acceptable to 2020 audience, then am adamant opposed. do something new or don't do at all, 'cause original don't need the inevitable "improvements" it would receive. HA! Good Fun!

  32. @Malcador Not at all: election season is coming and the impeachment process is long, and there are so many different angles to come at it between allegations of money laundering, emoluments, obstruction of justice, anything that remotely looks like collusion (like this latest incident), general behavior unfitting of the office... Clinton's impeachment died in the Senate, but helped on some level lead the way to the barest of victories by Bush a couple of years later. Democrats desperately need the presidency in 2020 or risk losing any semblance of control of the Supreme Court for a generation or two - they're going to pull out all the stops here. Getting impeached in the House will also thankfully be recorded in our history books, regardless of the Senate process, and based on the madness we've had to endure over the past 2 and a half years, I'm thinking that that is a good thing.
