  4. we get reflexive pushback from a few posters. whatever. however, one o' the wackier instances we recall were the resistance we got when we observed how following any police shooting or police incident where a person were serious injured, there were no harm in waiting a bit for facts to emerge. frequent the facts change, but once the narrative is established, people find it difficult to change their conclusions. is always best to wait. even if the outrage feels complete justified, eyewitness accounts and even video may be misleading. and no, am not suggesting wait for months or years. were never the claim. however, it takes more than a few hours or days to investigate many tragedies and is hardly a suprise when new video emerges which severe undercuts assumptions arrived at 'cause o' earlier eyewitness testimony or shaky iphone video recordings. if people feel outrage, their outrage will be no less valid or impactful if they wait for a week. wait for investigations and still feel outrage? good for you; is your right as an american to be outraged whether that outrage is justified or not. nevertheless, am not seeing a downside to waiting for facts, waiting for proverbial smoke to clear. how many celebs and pundits insta jumped to jussie smollett defense? some o' those supporters reversed course when new facts emerged, but others refused to do so 'cause doing so undermined the more important and overreaching narrative. HA! Good Fun!

  9. have been pulled over multiple times. first time evar were a speeding thing where we were going 52 in a 45mph zone. were a legit stop but we were kinda annoyed. cop came to window, which we needed manual roll down 'cause we were driving a 78 cherokee jeep. we asked cop for a double-cheeseburger, onion rings and a large dr. pepper. cop actual smiled a bit, but we still got a ticket. daytime. suburban neighborhood. no problems. other times were a bit more scary and worst were not being pulled over while driving but cops stopping us as we walked through a nice neighborhood in the bay area at 2am. we became agitated 'cause cops were demanding info they were not privy to as a mater o' law and but for a soopercop's partner stepping in to intervene, am thinking we woulda' been arrested... and as we were a scholarship athlete at Cal at the time, things coulda' gone very bad for us. learned a valuable lesson that day and realized being right were less consequential than being cautious. no more smarty responses from Gromnir when dealing with cops. had a distinct uptick in stoopid traffic stops after we got the bmw x5. our driving behavior didn't change, but somehow a minority male driving a so-called luxury (piece o' crap) suv at 3am (when we typical went to our gym) often with our hoodie up 'cause o' damp post workout hair, attracted police attention. we followed all instructions, no matter how ridiculous, to letter and made no jokes and were as polite as human possible. HA! Good Fun!

  13. Figured out why the gog version of Dungeon Keeper 1 felt laggy when using the alt+r higher res. option. Running the higher res means you have to adjust the dosbox cycles. So hitting ctrl+F12 4 or 6 times does it. Now it's nice and smooth like I remember. Yay! Maybe I can play the tunneler levels now without fear of being mouse-lagged to my doom.

  14. The problem with Kingmaker is that is too long and there isn't much variety, most of the game are forests and meadows, few dungeons and lot of slow-paced hours in-between. WOTR fixes this, pacing is very intense with few moments to relax and there is a lot more of scenery variety, such as cities, castles, etc. along with the typical wilderness forests. Not to mention interiors are incredibly detailed now and a pleasure to go through, lot of different rooms filled with objects and assets as opposed to very barren and copy-pasted Kingmaker dungeons\interiors I am always opposed to 3d because it gives a very flat feeling compared to the more detailed 2d (see NWN or DAO vs Pillars), but WOTC is the first 3D Crpg which is as much detailed as a 2d one. example: Also the game will be shorter than Kingmaker with an estimated 80 hs, so more quality over quantity

  23. The variable weapon choice is very nice, especially considering how some feats and classes rely on certain weapons to work and the potential lack of good weapons. Sounds like there is progression with Finnean as well, I wonder if it will be like Soulbound or have a selection of upgrades at intervals. Guess I have a reason to give the beta another spin. I think Enserric was limited to the basic martial swords and a dagger. And you could easily block more enchantment because he had too many abilities compared to regular weapons.

  26. I don't think the gun control measures are making the difference here. What I see as bonkers is that looking at the police force in other countries the police force is the same in all of the country. No matter if it's a small village, big city, highway, jail, you name it they are all part of the same police force that on the highest levels answer to appropriate ministry (like Ministry of Internal Affairs in Poland) and then to Prime minister or President (depends on the country) whichever is the head of Government in said country. What that does is you know that this officer had the same standards of entering the force, he follows the same laws and procedures as all the other cops you can encounter. This means the standard is uphold across the country and that every police officer is accountable for his actions and you can make complaint to a higher power even if his local superiors don't take your complaint into account. If I understand correctly, that is not the case in US. Basically every sheriff, precinct, city police is somewhat of an lonely island with their own rules, protocols and habits. They work more like the municipal force, which, for example, Poland and other western countries also have but municipal don't have the same power, equipment etc. and they don't deal with serious issues. Municipal is relegated to basic things like fining people for littering or parking tickets. For example Mayor of LA can dictate to LAPD chief something, which cannot occur in other countries because even though there is a police chief in a city he follows different chain of commands that is separate from local government. That's what I see as bonkers in the way police is organized in US in comparison to other western countries. Also some stupid things like qualified immunity or that the court (SC? I don't remember) ruled that police is not obligated to serve and protect strike me as bonkers.

  27. well you start from the effect duration description in seconds, usually it is at least 3 sec. Then you can in theory calculate 5% increase per point of intelligence > 10, but not really needed. if you don't have Wael challenge enabled it should be already visible in the tooltip. then in that table you look for the row having about that duration in seconds e.g. assuming I have a 3sec positive effect and 16 INT, it would be something like 3 + 30% = 3.9 sec, so about line 14 then you look for the desired duration e.g. to prolong for about 80 days max challenge duration it would need in theory about line 134 - 14 (the starting time line) --> at least 120 swaps about the swapping time, there are a couple ways to do it that I found working well first one is to select an alternative object to swap e.g. strand of favor - another necklace, and single click while hovering over the (e.g. neck) slot. This is slow but the most important thing is to count the swaps so you would not be able to do it super fast anyway on the ultimate challenge (and this is what people playing the challenge usually do). second one is to put the alternative object in the player personal objects area and double click it, it is faster but harder to count. this option can be used e.g. with a mouse macro to do it really super fast and easily if you are not doing the ultimate/not using wael/on a test playthrough as you can just start the macro, wait a minute and stop it when you see duration: infinite (it works more or less like swapping the Lethandria shield from AI script)

  29. Most western countries have more stringent gun control measures than in the USA, so policing here is inevitably different. I wouldn't say it's "bonkers"; it's at least partly a response to the threat model. That being said, I don't think it would be harmful for the USA police departments to take a good long look at how they are enforcing the law and see if elements of foreign approaches would be beneficial in terms of reducing gun deaths.

  32. A revised table about number of item swappings needed to prolong effects for X days, based on hopefully more correct formula: 1 in game day = 27 hours, game real time speed = 24x so 1 sec = 24/(3600*27) = 1/4050 days APPLY EFFECT SWAPS TIMES TO ACHIEVE DURATION IN real time SECONDS and in game DAYS e.g. starting form 3 real time sec effect duration, you would need about 134 - 11 = 123 swaps to reach 80 in game days effect duration, starting form 30 real time sec effect duration, you would need about 134 - 36 = 98 swaps to reach 80 in game days effect duration... 33. for a number of years we were paying ~$800 per month for our sister's meds. she had lupus, which became other problems. she also had some emotional problems stemming in large part from an assault when she were a student at Cal. took meds for the mental health issues, but those weren't what was costing most o' the $800. if it makes skarp_one feel better, after her attack incident, she tended to vote republican, or perhaps she voted republican 'cause that is what Gromnir were doing at the time. whatever. however, the reason her meds were so expensive were in part 'cause we were supporting her. we couldn't get her onto our personal insurance plan for various reasons, but we coulda' finagled so she were medi-cal eligible (and most o' her meds woulda' been free) but while her medical care woulda' been not terrible... well, that is the best we can say. we supported and so she weren't ssi and medi-cal eligible. our meds, save one, has copays o' $10, but we checked and on average we would be paying $15 for each even if we had no insurance 'cause they is not particular expensive. is one exception. costs us $80 but is not a monthly med. would cost us far more than $80 if we had to pay brand name price with no generic option. considering our med issues, we don't spend much on meds... yet. a couple years past we did have surgery and a single overnight stay post-op. were real surgery--not cosmetic. needed anesthesia. weren't life saving though. something to keep us able to walk and maintain bladder control, so kinda necessary from our pov. our insurance were billed $350k. we paid $25 out of pocket. in 2021, if you are a day gig worker in the US, chances are you still need decide 'tween rent, food, transportation, utilities and health insurance. at least one from that list is gonna be a loser. guess which most choose. accident happens or you suffer a burst appendix or whatever... get a $350k bill and then what? HA! Good Fun!

HA! Good Fun!

  36. With deflection (as with any defense) you have increasing returns: every additional point has more impact than the one before. Because of that I would max RES and get all the deflection bonuses I could get. Soulblade/Trickster can stack Borrowed Instincts and Mirrored Images, but you should also try to debuff enemies' accuracy. Psychovampiric Shield: also good. MIG isn't that important because Trickster/Cipher already gets enough dmg bonuses. You could leave it at 10 imo. INT, RES and then PER and DEX would be my priorities.
