No one knows, and no one cares (left it on the default). He hasn't get laid since his times at the Bard college many moons ago, and probably won't get laid on this adventure either. I don't know, I found it greatly disturbing to scroll through my cartoon's halfing selection of genitalias. In cyberpunk it didn't exactly felt great, but at least felt somewhat appropriate to the setting. Here it is just weird. edit. Actually, in the backstory I made up, there is a rich dwarf woman that has been his patron over the years - that's more or less what I thought of when was creating his guardian and the form it could take. But I don't know how appropriate it will be with what the guardinan will be on the game, nor what was the exact nature or relation ship between Andreas and the nobledwarfwoman. For now I am thinking of it as a more pragmatic one, from Andreas side at least. Tim Cain's approved reviewed posted a nice, non-spoiler review for BG34 points

I absolutely hate the flying squid ship vs demons intro. Ease me into the story, take me to dinner before you f me basically. I'm taking notes this time, because I need to be able to explain with words why I don't like larian games. Still super early on tho2 points

Finished the game. I think I encountered 5 recruitable mercs but I only picked up 4 of them and I'm not sure why I did the last one except to see if I could. Will probably wait at least 15 minutes before starting again.2 points

Not sure it helps, but apparently it requires "only" 122 gb, instead of 150 gb. That depends. Are you playing as the Dark Urge? It's even worse in the Portuguese version. I always play in English, but I saw a video on YT and they translated it to something like Umbrasoul and I think it sounds terrible. In the video I watched, the YouTuber's reaction was priceless. He definitely didn't have any idea that would be in the game.2 points

Manage to play a bit yesterday - I encountered nasty "syncing saves" bug, which meant I couldn't save the game (double check immediately after starting the game folks!). I went through the whole tutorial area, before I realised it. Fortunately it is shorter in EA, and aside from character creator, it wasn't a big waste of time. I think it might have something to do with old EA saves - I did go through the effort of erasing everything before installing 1.0, but it didn't help for some reason. Erased save folder once again, and it's been all good for now. Say hi to Andreas le Vilour, an aging, burned out bard, stuck entertaining rich folks in Baldur's Gate instead of pursuing research and true mastery of his craft. His long years of creative vegetation has been interupted when he was abducted by Findflayers on his way to an out of town gig, and infested with a tadpole. So far impressions are positive. No big improvements over EA, but it's all much more polished and enjoyable to play. Companion introduction got a big or a lot of uplift - actual narrative differences are a bit better, but I think Larian did a good job making those characters feel more natural and fit better. I have always enjoyed my BG3 playthroughs that early in their run time, so we will see how things will progress. Edit. Ahh complaints. In spite of hope that dataminig gave us, shields STILL don't deplay on character's backs. How annoying. Also character creation, while it received a visual uplift is still pretty bad. One of the main issues was lack of any information about character progression - what will your character actually do in the game - or even what subclasses are available, if you pick a class that doesn't automatically pick on on lvl1. I optimistically assumed that new "details" button will be just that, however, what it does is display proficiencies that come with that class.... which is already displayed on the main screen anyway. WTF Larian. How is that helpful to anyone.2 points

you know, I've never really understood the 'pixely ultra-sharp painted on hair that somehow manages to look like a bizarre particle effect directly attached to my character's head/face' visual style for hair in modern 3d games2 points

maybe they should spend a little less time making 16K textures that take up a hundred plus gigabytes and more time on having animations that don't make characters look like animatronics but at least they (presumably) finished the game, unlike the majority of early access scams2 points

Judgement Aura now indeed becomes a permanent buff with that mythic ability for limitless judgments and the mod that allows using Judgment out of combat, which would make the Judge a better bard than a bard in some ways. Yeah, after the 1st run I'd reccomend going crazy with mods and stuff to do wild stuff, but different strokes and all that. A playthrough with lots of cheating fits the Trickster very well. Trickster is more fun to play while the story is a letdown of fetch quests for a pervert who got dumped. But it has a very funny interaction with Legend's story in that you leave the council in the black lodge waiting for you to show up again. I keep getting bit by rerolling Lich and have decided to play while I wait for the next (2?)DLC to drop and can give a Reanimator/Shadowcaster gestalt a test to see if I like it. After that I want to do Angel, Demon, Azata (again), Aeon>Devil, Trickster>Legend.2 points

It's just weird to start a story with something that feels like a climax. I had a similar problem with pathfinder WOTR. Dragon people vs demons within the first 5 minutes, then you slow things right down... I dunno, feels like bad story telling.1 point

In my previous post, I actually intended to say "I seriously hope it's a fake/assumed name, or maybe even some kind of title - she's a priestess of Shar and they're a pretty silly bunch, right?", but somehow it got forgotten. Well, if that's the case, I suppose that's fine. Yeah, I'm a big proponent of starting off simple myself. No way to make me lose interest in something faster than hitting me with another lousy "end of the world"-type plot right off the bat. You can have an end of the world plot, whatever, fine, but c'mon, at least try to build to it.1 point

I've been using a mod that helps with this. Makes all weapons do more damage, including to you, and lowers the health of some of the worst offenders. I die more often when things go bad but I feel like I'm cheating already just by knowing my hit chance, it really does change how I approach each encounter. Besides my merc and some of the recruitable ones my best have been Fox, Barry, and Livewire from my starting team. My biggest complaint is performance.1 point

I prefer BM over Evoker because I hate losing access to spells, especially Chillfog and Combusting Wounds, two of my favorite spells. The flexibility of being able to cast whatever you want whenever you want, plus the +1 PL from blood sacrifice and the constant regeneration, outweighs the +2 PL for evocation only and the small chance of repeat casting those spell, IMO. Also, I don't like resting, so I never empower spells unless I'm playing a chanter, so BM takes away an option I'm not inclined to use anyway. As for your party, if you're not fixed on the SC idea I'd recommend taking Fassina as a sorcerer, so you can add nice druid healing spells to your party. Then take a SC priest and SC cipher as your final two.1 point

Playing Born Punk, was cheap so decided to waste money on it. Decent enough game, is a modern one so isn't hard although I did get stuck on a musical puzle (because those are fun) and apparently there's a maze later which is disappointing. The android that talks like some white gangsta rap listener was grating, but I think I've left that character behind in the plot for now1 point

I saw them in Nashville in 1991. Exact same experience. The cannons were awesome!! And for the opener, which I believe was Thunderstruck, we could hear the music but not see the band on stage. Then we all turn around and there's Angus jamming away and coming down from the rafters on a little platform in the back of the hall. He then runs through the crowd to get to the stage. Hehe. Just perfect.1 point

Definitely better, but...yeah, still not awesome. As the premiere hater of modern 3D graphics here on the Obsidian forums, I absolutely do not care about fidelity - I would just prefer games to have cohesive, attractive, and/or unique visual styles that manage to avoid patently obvious visual bugbears and anything approaching the uncanny valley effect. I really hate looking at games that came out in the late 90s and early to mid 2000s and completely unironically thinking "these graphics bother me less than roughly 98% of what releases today". That should not happen, but something is wrong with my brain and it does...all the danged time, and character faces/hair is persistently one of the worst offenders these days. I will say for BG3, I think it was a great idea in allowing the player to hijack one of the main NPCs and just play as them. That's something I've often wanted for a number of games, including the original Baldur's Gate - being able to make Imoen the main character would've been awesome (even if it had lead to more limited/in-character dialogue options). Though I'm not really sure about this particular cast of characters - I'd probably play as either Shadowheart (...even though that's a truly advanced level of stupid name for a character) or maybe the Githyanki lady. I think both of them are evil(?), which also seems like a plus.1 point

I did just watch somebody else's "all hairstyles" video, and it does look like they generally rendered better there. I'd personally say character graphics should probably have extremely high priority and use higher level of detail relative to the rest of the game even when using low quality settings to avoid bizarre-looking characters like that, but that's just me.1 point
-
Yes, it does seem a bit off. I suspect it's because of the settings (medium/low for textures/details) or the HDD and the hair looks better on high/ultra/SSD.1 point

Thank you, but I haven't defeated Malenia yet, just ran out of time yesterday. The Assassin could reliably get the boss to the second phase if I kept the spirit alive, but not much farther. The fully-upgraded tower shield and moving backwards mostly protected from Vergil's move (not sure how it's called, Waterflow Dance?) if I had enough stamina, while running under the boss protected from the Scarlet Rot Flower jump. So I am going to look up the guides, try to level up more, and try again. On another note, the only other DS boss with similarly aggressive regeneration was Lud/Zallen from DS2 - the surviving tiger went berserk after the first one was defeated. Though, the tigers also were perfectly beatable solo - the bosses' HP boost from the summons and their general inability to survive long enough made them harmful.1 point

The textures don't load in time and the loading in general is slow. I've just checked the settings and created a character (well, several). The issues from EA are still present - no full highlights or GUI scaling, the heads are presets, the additional body types available for humans and elves only. But you can choose between 6 options for genitals, which are, fortunately, not bound to the race or the body types, unlike heads. The masc heads for elves are not exactly aesthetically pleasing. Edit. Also, no full custom party without MP/multiple instances and no saving/exporting the PCs either. And no full level up preview during character creation. I'm unlikely to play Larian's D&D game now, but the character creator was amusing even if lacking. Edit2. If you purchased the EA version, there are the artbook and the OST in the game's folder.1 point

https://mothership.sg/2023/08/modi-brics-no-show/ Interesting link with the real fractures within BRICS, Modi may not be attending the summit in person because of the following ( our president has asked him after this to attend in person ) "Modi’s potential absence comes after India altered July’s Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, which also included China and Russia, to a virtual format without giving an official reason " "According to the Reuters report, New Delhi is experiencing growing reservations about being part of China-dominated organisations like BRICS and SCO, given Indian’s increasing relations with Western powers" Indian-China relations have worsened since a border clash in the Himalayas three years ago left 20 Indian soldiers and 4 Chinese soldiers dead " Im not surprised, BRICS is basically a Chinese dominant union and India has its own reservations around China1 point

according to pathfinder 2e rulez, only half the balor damage from its death throe is subject to fire resistance/immunity. there is some funny math involved as a few balor is not doing 16d10, but somehow their death throe is based on caster level, and as already noted in another post, owlcat decided cl = hd. as most wotr foes get kinda comical hd bloat... *shrug* the balor you need watch out for is the one who does electricity damage, 'cause again, the beastie is doing damage based on a serious inflated caster level and 1/2 the damage the sparky balor does is listed as almost irresistible divine damage. angels may choose a halo effect which allows some resistance to divine damage, but the sparky balor is gonna overwhelm even that protection. beware the sparky balor. Damn, I'm just behind recommended with an AMD r5 2600x. I do have a 2070 so I'm ahead there. Looks like I'll head back to the Forgotten Realms.....in 6 months to a year. Maybe they should double down on animatronic animations and make Willie's Wonderland into a vidyagame.1 point

I caught AC/DC in concert ~1988 in Vegas for their Heatseeker tour. Probably the best concert Iv been to. I love that the closing song is (still?) For Those About To Rock and these huge cannons came out of the stage and fired...I could feel the pressure waves hit me. Stop making me tempted to try building stuff lmao. I've done some testing and at least with my modded game (which has several "fixes" to make it inline with pnp as well as additions), charging specific things besides the Fabled Hero's Lance don't apply on subsequent attacks when pouncing. So if we want the crazy damage we're looking at stacking up stuff for that single charge, for my modded game I'd float a full Gendarme worshipping Gorum using Greatswords and Vital Strike as the best way to do this. One of the things added is Gorum's Divine Fighting Technique, which applies Vital Strike on a charge. Stacked together you're adding x4 the damage roll from Gendarme and Spirited Charge along with the Greater Mythic Vital Strike. Using this with Bloody Red Cleaver outcompetes the Fabled Hero's Lance by a bit on the initial hit, and the 6d6 (the greatsword beats the lance by 2d6 using enlarge shenanigans) from subsequent attacks doesn't make up for it. Mythic paths will obviously complicate things and all that, but it was a fun thot experiment to play with it. Again this is all with mods so it may not be applicable to any vanilla builds, but I highly reccomend Tabletop Tweaks to everyone who has played the game or wants to play it.1 point

Finally completed my first (Angel) run through the game yesterday. Successfully completed the full secret ending. I liked the story very much. Sure, their writing could use some work, perhaps even a lot of work, but the story itself I found to be both interesting and compelling. It was a good story. I also liked most of our companions and generated the best endings for all of them except of course Camellia and Wenduag. And even those two ended up only with incomplete endings and not "bad" endings. And even the NPCs with ending slides all came out really well. I found the crusade management side of the game to be quite fine when using the lowest difficulty setting. It was even fun to build up my armies and then go around smashing demon armies. And with respect to spellcasting and buffing, those late-game feats that extend the duration of spells to 24 hours are *perfect*. I made sure all my casters got those feats, and once they were in place buffing became a breeze. Just one round of buffing casting was sufficient all the way to the next resting. All in all a fun, great experience with the game. I more than got my money's worth, including money spent on the two DLC season passes. Looking forward to Azata, Aeon, and Legend runs in the future.1 point

I'd say, yes. My issue with it that dispositions are not bound to factions/NPCs (Tyranny didn't have dispositions at all, only reputations with factions/characters). As it is, they look too similar to D&D alignments, where you tried to guess what the developers thought the dialogue options meant. Is it a lawfully good (well?) to choose to fight bandits (thus preventing them from attacking anyone else) or is it more LG-ly to convince them to let you pass without violence? (From an encounter in PoEII, by the way. At least one option to attack was disposition-neutral). Yeah, I actually really liked how the disposition system was handled in Tyranny (Now if only the companions didn't make me want to chuck most of them off of the Spire. Especially Kills-in-Shadow). I'm looking at playing a Paladin now so that I can have a bit more of a focused experience with the disposition system. Play a Templar so then you have four dis/favored dispositions. I'm currently playing a Bleak Walker Priest of Magran, which is Aggressive/Clever/Cruel with Passionate/Benevolent/Diplomatic as negatives. The in game description says that Bleak Walkers generally are not sadists, they just employ cruelty as a tool to force conflict to end. If paired with a priest of Magran, perhaps with a bit of Durance added in, the character can see themselves as a forge to put people to the test. For example, the character wouldn't necessarily decide to brutally murder the Bardatto's and/or the Valera's unless they advanced the plot far enough to get to that point; they could instead, try to get a deal going between the families, perhaps with a bit of minor head canon going on. With a high enough resolve there's even an option following the intimidates "ENOUGH" that goes "I think you are forgetting who I am. I went out of my way to arrange this meeting. State. Your. Terms." which accomplishes the same as the diplomatic response, with it being diplomatic. It also fits with something a Bleak Walker would say without it being a class response, I'd actually argue that forcing the two to compromise based on being a Bleak Walker should be an actual dialogue choice in it's own right. This character can also be Stoic and Rational as well. I find Stoic kind of goes with a Bleak Walker given the orders preference for never giving up on a job regardless of the employer changing their minds, a la the White March Part 2. Shady and Honest is a bit situational as there are times that are best served by either of them. This turned into a mini rant about why Bleak Walkers don't have to be Chaotic Evil, so I hope it gets the point across on dispositions. I have no issue with disposition points being spread out, but the game doesn't and can't recognize the details of why such a disposition spread exists.1 point
