film not a lotta down sides to Cal, but am sad to share that berkeley is not all that safe so am highly recommending on-campus housing. murder is low in berkeley, but violent crime in general is disturbing high and over the decades female students in particular has been disproportionate targeted w/o real efforts by UC or local police to fix the problems. am suspecting a considerable number o' assaults o' female students has gone unreported. am not trying to scare you unnecessarily, but am admitting we would personal be concerned to send a daughter to berkeley. while it should be obvious, avoid being alone at night is probable the best advice we may offer. on the positive side, even back in the 80s/90s, the Cal student body were extreme open-minded 'bout lgbt. HA! Good Fun!4 points

I went over my daughter's PSAT scores with her today. She has pretty serious dyslexia, and they didn't really do any accommodations for the PSAT, so she ended up with a 730 (out of 1600). It can be tough to be both supportive and honest in moments like that. She asked if that was a good score, and I said it is definitely a score. I told her she is probably going to need to get it up to 900 to get into San Francisco State. She asked what she needed to do if she wants to get into Berkeley. I told her she is going to need to sue someone. I couldn't help myself. Thankfully they actually dropped the SAT requirements for State Schools, so she doesn't really need to worry about it. She just needs to keep her GPA up and keep doing all of the extracurricular stuff she tends to thrive in.3 points

I did like the multi-language aspect of the series. People trying to communicate without everybody speaking the same language, having to rely on bilingual individuals to pass messages along, between the different language groups. The Danes understanding German and speaking a bit of English, the English lady also speaking whatever language (Mandarin?) the two girls from China speaks, the French adamantly refusing to speak anything other than French. One of the Spanish guys translating between his countryman and the other groups etc. Poor Olek can't really communicate with anyone. Edit: The Scandinavians just speak each their language, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian, having no problem understanding each other.2 points

Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight. I've just defeated the first boss and the game seems to be an action/metroidvania, though it has been rather minimalistic - few enemy types, easy platforming, no puzzles, checkpoint-based saving system. Also the contact damage. On the other hand, the pixel art and animations look good, there is no VA (except for the MC's death screen/m), the controls are rebindable, equipment provides some bonuses. The story follows a priestess who uses a (magical?) leaf for combat and is looking for the queen, judging by the intro dialogue, so it should be straightforward enough.2 points

Goal number 27 achieved After a few days of chilling in the main game, I have started and finished the storyline of Final Fantasy XV – Episode Ignis DLC on my PS4. This DLC was so far the weakest from the three character DLCs. It took me 4 hours, but I wished few times, that it would end sooner. The combat mechanics felt lackluster, and for the counterattacking, you need even better reflexes, than for Gladiolus. Which sucks for an old guy with slow reflexes. I am not looking forward to the DLC challenges at all.2 points

Probably a strict diet, a personal trainer, and steroids. We're probably talking about 2 hours a day 6 days a week for excercise, between that and time on set he probably does cram in the vidya after shooting.1 point

Supposedly a leak by someone working on the Witcher set. Guess they don't like gamers and he didn't like the direction of the show.1 point

Open an InPrivate window in Edge, accept all cookies (or just the social media one) and then post from there. Downside: you need to log in and accept the cookies every time you open the window. Upside: should fix the issues, for the time being, and allows for social media tracking...1 point

I have an Eyepatch at this place in the list (between the Torch+ and the Sprig Fence), but the same "???" is the latest element in this list (PC). And towards the end of the Natural Resource list, there are three similar items (but with four "?"). And I also couldn't find on Google what it could be.1 point

I'm not paying for her to go lick banana slugs in the Santa Cruz mountains. Actually I have no idea how I'm going to pay for any of this. But San Francisco State has the film production programs she wants, so I can figure that one out. Cal would require a decent Field Hockey scholarship, and she would best fit an engineering program there, given her construction aptitude. I do love the Cal campus though.1 point

we got an understandable bias in favor o' Cal, but if we had a crumb snatcher who were thinking o' attending a nor cal school, and they couldn't manage stanford, we would likely do what we could to subtle encourage consideration o' uc santa cruz. might still be a bridge too far, but acceptance is not quite as challenging as is berkeley. HA! Good Fun! ps am not poor, but am nevertheless shocked whenever we look at housing and tuition costs for US college students. UC is extreme cheap compared to similar quality alternatives, but is nevertheless distressing expensive and even back in the mid-late 80s we wouldn't have been able to pay as an out-o-state student w/o the benefit o' scholarships. two years o' jc could result in a major cost savings? after two years o' lower division nonsense, you are also far more likely to know what your major is gonna be.1 point

I remember listening to this album a lot maybe ten years ago, the again when Peaky Blinders came out and they used Red Right Hand to great effect. It's been a while, but when listening to Booth and the Bad Angel this was recommended. The best I can describe it if both entrancing and disturbing, the kind of song you enjoy but wish you didn't, similar to the films of David Cronberg.1 point

That doesn't look like anything to me. Anyways, my fond memories for Scooby-Doo are memories and I haven't really seen anything Scooby-Doo in a while. Maybe I watched the recent movie that had it's sequel euthanized by the new WB reality TV man who wants to make everything about 1000 pound people, but if I did then I don't remember it. Maybe Scooby-Doo wouldn't hold up for me, maybe I'd just hate the newer stuff. I don't know.1 point

That was done by every army that was winning and in enemy territory. Part and parcel of wars. Any war is a stupid idea.1 point

You famously cynical, why ? But Im sure its both, its both a real Ukrainian concern and its fear mongering to ensure Western\US aid doesnt stop And I dont blame the Ukrainians because there war effort is largely dependant on continuous military aid1 point

Russia does not have dedicated anti-air counter force, so their result maybe even less impressive as their HIMARS hunting. As anti-air platforms are usually in deep in enemy territory (especially long range systems like patriot) where only air force is able to operate with some efficiently and anti-air systems are designed to counter and destroy air force units. So it is quite suicidal job for anyone doing it.1 point

@ChaospreadI don't have that problem, but I read it helps if you use <shift>+<enter> instead of just <enter> to end a paraphraph - maybe worth a try.1 point

Some thoughts on High On Life. It's a first person shooter. The gimmick is talking weapons, primarily your gun, but you get a talking knife too. Once the talking weapon gimmick is no longer novel, you're left with a fairly plain shooter. It's not bad, by any means, and it's very colorful and kinda goofy, but, well, it's a shooter. You can lasso things to swing across gaps and also to hang from rails, sort of like in BInfinite, but beyond that it's a regular ol' shooter.1 point

Fellow GOG I presume. If I remember correctly from PoE2 days, GOG patches tend to be bigger - something about inability to download modifications for files, and a lot of content needs to be re downloaded and replaced entirely. I hope they will manage to clean BG3 a lot in those months left. I has a lot of potential, but is also so very messy. Played for a bit and am a bit disappointed with current implementation of reactions - mainly because it applies to enemy selected skills. As a feature it works well - allowing for both control and automation. But at least for now reactions that don’t consume per rest resource are kept as they were, and I am not sure, if it is intended to stay that way, or just a transition phase.1 point

Well, occasionally I still play that game. One of these days I'm even going to finish Act 2 with the Sisters. The other day I was able to get a match where I managed to complete the objectives, and, in fact, smack down every single enemy as they passed all the rout checks. I think that was a first for me, and I do have quite a few hours in this game...1 point

We got 4 super spider venom from 3 Black Widows but had to kill 10 in total, so that’s 7 Black Widows with no super spider venom drops at all. Instead of lowering the crafting cost of the items that require the super spider venom, my suggestion would be to lower the drop amount to 1-2 instead of 0-4 and increase the drop probability to 50%.1 point

This would have made the whole world much less believable. Got a bow fan proving my point right here. Yeah a world where guns have relegated archery to a status and hobby symbol. SOOOOO unbelievable. I don't think you have a clue how bows and guns - those guns - actually work. It took some time and advancement before guns overtook bows, since the latter packed mroe power with greater range. Hell, by your logic, we should remove swords, because guns!1 point
