This is a delightful conversation, I truly hope the subtitles are genuine. The position of some / many / most (whatever it is) Russians is so untenable that it must take an awful lot of cognitive dissonance to maintain.5 points

Everything Everywhere All At Once I laughed out loud throughout the film. It's an utterly bizarre film in a great imaginative way. And very touching.5 points

It really doesn't help that I don't care much for schmaltzy Hollywood junk, and both of those films that I've seen were just that. Not to say that they're terrible because of it, but...ergh, it's just not for me, and it's going to heavily limit how much I enjoy them. Maybe Taxi Driver is the exception and worth a watch, I don't know. In my experience, if it feels like you strongly dislike the style of a particular director, you should probably stop trying to watch their stuff....because while a given film may do more or less to appeal to you with its premise, themes, and characters, if you dislike the director's style, that's typically just not going to change too much from film to film. Also, I am definitely not going to watch any of the ones starring Leonardo DiCaprio - that ship has already sailed and I have had more than enough of Leonardo DiCaprio for one lifetime, thank you very much.2 points

Czechia’s Lower Senate (not sure if correct translation) has voted for recognizing Russia as Terrorist state. Not sure what else needs to be passed, to make it official. Maybe @Chilloutmancould explain? that would be state nr. 52 points

Give me a mod where I play as Gun Jesus and I'm in. You think that's sacrilegious, there sre several MegaTen games that include YHVH and the Tetragrammaton is generally not portrayed in a positive light... I guess that depends on where you sit on the order/chaos spectrum.2 points

Early going, but I'm really enjoying this game so far. The art style is fantastic. I purposely avoided most information on the game to go into it blind. I'm not sure where the story is going to go, but I went with Rapscallion, Occultism, and Rhetoric with an aim to do some blasphemous scheming if the opportunity presents itself. I'm not going to openly defy the church, but I won't let them push me around either and I'm not above undermining them from the shadows. What could possibly go wrong? Edit: I managed to convince Sister Illuminata to let me keep the condemned French book because I was eager to help her and I am a skilled orator. I don't know what the book is because I chose Italian as my travels choice, hence I can't read French, but I feel devilish for convincing a nun to turn a blind eye to her duty.1 point

that's the point. chances are many players would replay *add whatever unspecified span of time you deem appropriate* worth o' the game to fix their "mistake" with sosiel. is not a practical solution. choice and consequences has little value if gamers think they got treated unfair by the developers and resort to a mod to fix the perceived problem. yeah, more than a few players will reflexive mod out any bad selection, but for crpgs am suspecting many players is gonna try and attempt to adhere to whatever is their personal notion o' fair, as meaningless as is such a concept in a single-player game. HA! Good Fun!1 point

spoiler: dunno. the quest didn't make much difference to us as am admitted only slight more invested in the wotr companions than we were regarding bg1 companions. am admitting there is for Gromnir a kinda knee-jerk displeasure in achieving an avoidable bad ending which were in no way foreseeable as potential wrong, but as long as sosiel stayed in the party and served his purpose, then we cared little for his pain. truth is we treat the wotr companions as if they is the galley slaves in ben-hur even if we pretend to be friends with them. row well and live, 41... or ember or sosiel or... She was convicted of murder once she stopped being happy with killing peasants and moved on to lesser gentry (or, alternatively, she was the victim of a conspiracy by people who wanted her wealth and/or were not happy with a woman being this influencial in the 16th century). Being one of the wealthiest artistocrats of her time, with extensive holdings and the kingdom deeply in her debt, we can speculate what her opinion on letting peasants decide anything would have been, but it is reasonably to assume it would have been a hearty laugh, and whoever came up with the idea would have been named court jester. She also inherited most of her wealth. Take all that the way you want, but:1 point

Yeah, I've only seen The Gangs of New York and I'm pretty whatever about it. Now I'm sure that I would enjoy probably at least a couple of these, but the only one I read that interested me was Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. (e): Oops, I've actually seen The Aviator as well...but doesn't change much: I was pretty whatever about that one as well. Maybe if Leonardo DiCaprio hadn't been the lead...1 point

I don't know how many hoods they will have. The Hood is a pretty obscure character. Plus hoods are more of a DC gimmick.1 point

yeah, but keep in mind that all happened in 1890. scoff if you will, but isn't the pizzagate and seth rich folks dedicated to the notion powerful democrats, with the help o' george soros, is draining the blood o' children to achieve immortality and become the kwisatz haderach... or something like that? have never quite been able to figure out all that q and seth rich silliness, but those beliefs is a decent litmus test for stoopid and/or those easily manipulated. regardless, if you is a part o' the not insignificant % o' critical thinking challenged persons who has been voting republican o' late, then chances are you believe nancy pelosi is an american elizabeth báthory, so don't pretend as if our 1890 quip is beyond the pale. however, am gonna concede 2022 nancy does look a bit like ida lowry. is nothing wrong with being or looking old, though women do suffer from an unfortunate cultural double-standard. am not a woman, so... This is mainly for @Gorth, to whom I earlier said that there's a for-ethical-reasons-never-to-be-undertaken study to be made on the effects of warfare on people's sexual behaviors (i.e. their increased appetite for sexual crime). It just so happens that my current work project focuses on some rather grisly topics, one of which is violent conflict and its repercussions on individuals and societies. This has taught me a new concept, that of appetitive aggression, and while it's not precisely what Gorth and I earlier touched upon, it's close enough to be worth mentioning, in my view. So Gorth, here you go: https://researchoutreach.org/articles/fascination-with-violence-appetitive-aggression-males-females/ I believe this topic is pertinent to current Russia and its near-extreme brutality as demonstrated by its ill-disciplined soldiers hell-bent on rape and destruction. I do not mean to imply that this explains everything, but surely there's something in this.1 point

Josh wrote on Twitter that they got some bug reports & feedback and that they would fix some things. Number 1 on the list was a slider to turn down/off the scribbling sound. There you go!1 point

I have also only finished NV once. Went independent. Absolutely loved how even though I tried to do the "right thing" I had a ton of negative slides. It's something that was disappointing with TOW. Every choice I made had a positive impact in the ending slides. Which is fine I guess, but I loved the realism of unintended consequences1 point

Enjoying it as well, though only finished the first day. Went with workoholic Flanders. I find it rather natural that artist wouldn't want to anger church, as they tended (and still tend) to be major source of work. He has some ideas, but is careful when and to whom he voices them. The game already passed a very important quality test:1 point

I can't add any other trick or suggestion about tactics, people before me say just all. Instead I want point about melee ranger plus pet and chanter as tanks. Chanter are ok, good defence, good abilities (CC and mlaus chants) in frontline and can do other actions while tanking... but ranger is almost "meh" as tanks, ok in normal he can goes, but pet often dies and you suffer penalties from that... he can be better as off tank maybe, by the way, I prefer him as ranged damage dealer by the way, with pet as a "bodyguard". I think paladin are good tanks if you don't want fighters, very sturdy, they can tank dragon also, better of any class with their very high defence score.1 point

Fallout 3 has the same problem I have with Oblivion. Aggressively terrible level scaling. At high levels of Fallout 3, you can't go for a jaunty stroll without running into a constant stream of Deathclaws and Albino Radscorpions. All sorts of enemies that ignore armor. It was not fun running around in power armor and getting 3 shot like I was naked by some enemy with a standard rifle because their name had Master in it. I not only like it less than New Vegas, I hold hate in my heart for it.1 point

Great positioning and the unstealthing trick @Boeroermentioned are incredibly effective early game. Late Game you get the additional option of using Mindweb (if you have a cipher) and turning your entire party into the tank. Back in the day I did a trio run (pala, GM, Kana) and I could even senselessly respec Kana and GM making them as offensive as possible for no other reason than having mindweb defenses on them anyway.1 point

Right! Very good point. In PoE characters can't get pushed out of the way without using certain abilities. In Deadfire you can push other characters a little by simply walking into them. This is not possible in PoE so a character standing in a chokepoint is a great way to tank without any engagement and to make sure enemies can't reach your backline.1 point
-
Also the base game is fairly generous with choke points - at least in dungeons - so if you make good use of those, the enemy doesn't really have the option to hit anyone else.1 point
-
Hello and welcome! To prevent the backline from getting rushed it helps to Only unstealth the tank and present him as the only target at the start of battle. Only if the melee enemies settled in on the tank you reveal your other party members. Give your backline better protection. Enemy AI favors certain attributes: enemy Barbs prioritize low deflection, Rogues go for low DR and low endurance and so on. Add engagment slots as you said (but you are right that it may take some levels until you are there). Use stuff like charm and other "hard" CC a lot. Don't use one main tank but several sturdy frontliners instead - three reasonably sturdy melee guys should do the trick. In general the first one is the most important imo. You cannot always decide to go into combat in stealth mode, but most of the time you can.1 point
