  1. is plenty o' reasons to dislike President bush, but he went against party and gained the ire o' many conservatives by not only caring 'bout a disease which at the time were considered a curse on homosexuals by too many in this country but by sending money to africa with almost no short-term roi prospects. sure, in 2022 we got kinda/sorta bipartisan support for pepfar, but such were most assured not the case at the time. you and Gromnir can do little 'bout the hiv problem which continues to plague too much o' the world, but you may vote for representatives, senators and Presidents who care 'bout the same stuff you do, and those people collective may bring 'bout the changes you believe is appropriate. and sometimes, as in the case o' bush, determined individuals may bring 'bout monumental change. you caring might mean as little as self-educating and then voting for national level government folks who are capable o' making the world a better place, or at least a world a bit less terrible. is a flood in bangladesh which kills hundreds or thousands tomorrow or next year. we have empathy for the dead and those survivors who must rebuild... again. however, unless we know somebody who actual died, is unlikely we weep over the bangladesh deadly floods. at the same time am forced to decide just how concerned we actually are 'bout the dead and future dead in places like bangladesh. how do we change our votes based on candidates who could do something? am honest enough to admit a Presidential candidate's position on infrastructure aid to bangladesh is not a priority. chilloutman is unlikely to be concerned 'bout anything bad happening in south america. *shrug* converse, while the khashoggi murder represents the death o' one reporter we never met, we would/will change vote depending on how our elected officials responded. ... am also gonna recognize how at the time we were ambivalent 'bout bush's efforts to combat hiv in africa. helping were the right thing to do but the help were also representing a whole lotta money and while we ain't a maga proponent am gonna concede we prioritize homeless US veterans over nameless and faceless multitudes in sub-saharan africa. is perhaps unfortunate a US President has more power to help those in africa than he does homeless and/or mental ill in topeka. even so, while pepfar were not a voting priority for us in the early 2000s, am glad bush were more caring o' the suffering o' those in africa than were Gromnir. HA! Good Fun!

  7. You're not joking. It's cheaper to buy in bulk, so I invested in 1000 rounds of 180 grain FMJ: It set me back a buttload of pretty pennies, but at least I'm set for a while.

  8. Resistances from race and passives or equipment doesnt stack (there is no level of resistance), but the chants that provide a resistance to an affliction downgrade to 1 level the current afflictions (and protect like a regular resistance the time the chant is active). The effect (the chant) doesnt stack with itself, so the same chant is going to refresh the older timer on characters, but the same chant when the previous is over will downgrade again the current afflictions. This is especially efficient with the Troubadour modal that stop the linger of phrase.

  9. Not at all the point but I find it very interesting that they still see themselves as moderate or independent when they'll go along with pretty much anything their party does. As to the bigger picture, is there even anything that we can do? I mean, I'm not sure a pro-choice Republican makes out of the primaries in a red state despite Republicans generally being for some access to abortion and we don't vote directly on issues above the state level.

  10. Should probably just pump Athletics for critical self heals. You're going to be in dicey situations occasionally due to your self damage, which by the way feels like it scales faster with levels than your HP does.

  12. For Berserker/Skald it's beneficial to use Killers Frozen Stiff + fast melee attacks. The perfect weapon for a Berserker/Skald is Sun & Moon because it has two attack rolls per strike (so two chances for a crit instead of one per weapon strike). Other fast weapons with high ACC (Rapier, Dagger) are also good. The next best is heavier one handed weapons like swords and sabres etc. So Modwyr+Sasha's does work well. Sasha's + Scordeo's Edge with Blade Cascade & Adaptive in one weapon set (slash) and Modwyr + Watcher's Blade (pierce/slash) or Sun & Moon (pierce/slash & crush) would be even better imo, but that's negligible. If you like Modwyr + Sasha's as your preferred option it's okay. Other good option is a Morning Star because Spirit Frenzy + The Long Night's Drink + Morning Star modal + Brute Force provides a lot Fortitude debuff "on the fly" which grants more crits. Especially Saru Sichr is nice here because it does two hit rolls per attack (one for the physical attack, one for the poison DoT). But it's slower than a dual wielding setup of course. Killers Froze Stiff is a nice invocation for a Skald because it's cheap, very impactful because early hard CC and also provides 25% crit conversion which stacks with Berserker's crit conversion, Bloody Slaughter, Barbaric Smash and whatever crit conversion you get on top of that (Uncanny Luck or whatever). So you not only deliver great CC repeatedly but also increase your chances to get phrases from crits. As phrases go I would prefer Aefyllath (stacks nicely with Modwyr's and Sasha's lashes and lashes are always good). If you manage to extend the linger long enough (need a ton of INT) I personally would add Old Siec because it helps with the Berserker's Self damage. But of course it doesn't really matter which of your Chanters is singing which as long as they are in each other's range. Pallegina as Herald: I would concentrate on stacking passive healing and defenses with her - such as Exalted Endurance + Ancient Memory (+maybe Her Courage later on). Also having the resistance phrases is great. They can remove all sorts of afflictions of you switch to them. One phrase will remove one layer of afflictions until nothing is left. As invocations I think summons are most impactful with her. I would still get a heal-per-kill pet because the Berserker's self damage will reach numbers where it can easily kill you if you don't get any healing - even if you are not attacked. Using the Voidward Ring and other damage reduction gear also helps. Abraham is a great pet because it combines attack speed (or better: less recovery penalty for armor) with healing per kill (only 10, but still good). Killers Frozen Stiff doesn't profit from Berserker's Tenacious, so from time to time it's totally worth it to use Her Revenge or so as alternative invocation. Her Tears Falling Like Rain, too. Make sure that you take a very costly invocation at some point during your level-ups - even if you don't plan to use it. Your max phrase counter is determined by the most expensive invocation. And you want to have the biggest pool size possible. If you stick to the cheap invocations only (which would be the intuitive thing to do) your phrase pool will stay small. But if you only take one expensive invocation it's suddenly way bigger. For example at max level I will retrain and pick my favorite invocations like before and then I will also pick "Ancient Instruments of Death". It's a very good summon and always useful - but for a Skald it's also very expensive - so it gives you a big phrase pool. If you crit a lot and gain phrases more quickly than you want to spend them you can now "charge up" more phrases and then unleash a barrage of up to 3 invocations - for example 3 times Her Revenge in a row - and still have a phrase left. Traps are not worth it (selling them is the best use for them imo unless you want to lure enemies with them - they make a lil' sound when set up). Explosives can be good - if you skill a lot of explosives and pick the right bombs for the right enemies. But honestly I think scrolls and potions are better than explosives overall.

  13. the only interweb cooking site we got bookmarked and check regular is american test kitchen. am mentioning 'cause we saw a video on the atk site which we found interesting... well, at least a minute or so were interesting as tomato water intrigued us not at all. am thinking were 'bout 3:30ish is what were new for us. has to do with tomato jelly, and is not some kinda tomato preserve but is a method to return concentrated tomato flavour back into long simmering tomato dishes. is probable less useful if you use roma tomatoes for your sauce (romas has less jelly and seeds than other tomato varieties) but am suspecting we may use this technique to infuse fresh tomato jelly goodness into sauces when using canned or romas as the base. clarification-- what we meant were if we make sauce from can or am using romas, then we could also squeeze out the jelly from a few fresh and vine-ripened beefsteak tomatoes which we then add to our sauce after a period o' long simmer. ... kinda makes obvious what a food dork/nerd we is that we found a tomato video worth sharing, but so it goes. gonna embrace our truth. HA! Good Fun! ps (late edit) one o' the reasons we add a small 'mount o' worcestershire sauce to our tomato based sauces is 'cause o' the high glutamate levels o' tomatoes. nucleotides functional turbo charge the flavour from glutumates and am not exaggerating as is a 30-40x enhancement. the anchovies in worcestershire, when using small quantities, is gonna go unnoticed in a large pot o' tomato sauce, but the neucleotides make a big difference to the umami quality o' the tomatoes.

  15. Uncle From Another World 3: How The Uncle Becomes An Aunt And Gets A Larger YouTube Audience Not as funny as last week, but still pretty funny. EDIT: Also finished s1 of Spy x Family It was fun, but I wish there would be more focus on Yor, whose assassinations have taken the back seat to Loid's spywork and Anya's school escapades. I think we've had more screentime of the monocle teacher saying elegant than we've had of Yor's double life.

  16. Perhaps a little, yeah? If the word 'racist' is a sticking point, (which I get, because there are different degrees of this stuff and we here in the richer, whiter and culturally similar countries have been ignoring that continent for a while so I guess it's become the norm) I'm happy to rephrase it to 'There is almost certainly a racial component to which other countries our media focusses on.'

  17. Yeah, the English dub was unbearable from the ~10 seconds or so I tried of it in the first episode. Not that I particularly liked the direction of the Japanese* either, but I don't know why so many modern English dubs go with the over-the-top false/artificial style for their direction when you could just...like, not? There's something there that I clearly just don't get.

  19. Well Folks it's been a long time since I added a build so here's one I was messing around with last night when I decided, "What the hell let's play deadfire again, it's been a while". I wanted to really play around with DLC and try to make something out of them. The style drove the build, but it is a fun one. I asked: "How Huana can you go?" Well this is how much. Hit hard and very fast. Make the most out of that blood thirst with high run speed and 3 ways to jump around. You can easily go Fury Shaper instead of Berserker, but make sure to pick tenacious on the monk line if you do. (Slayer’s claw upgrades tenacious to energized). Well means you can take as much time off as you want, as long as you get it approved suitably in advance, and don't take too much as they'll hold that against you when you go over an amount your manager or someone above deems appropriate for workers to take off Recruiter telling me that was a selling point made me laugh.

Picture shows about 30 m high flame from Nord stream 1's compressor station in Russian Karelia, picture is taken from Finland about 20 km away of the compressor station. 30 m flame means about 100 MW power, so they have burn about 10k euros worth gas per hour for past week

  24. That depends. The upside of high INT is more potent healing via Lay on Hands and longer duration on Clarity of Agony, enfeebled, Eternal or Shared Devotion, bigger Aura AoE etc. With maxed RES, Clarity and some -x% hostile effect duration gear the duration of the curse with high INT or with low INT isn't that much of a difference due to the double inversion math that's going on with reductions (malus). You can get to under 2 secs curse duration even with maxed INT. And with 2 MIG the curse won't do a lot of damage so before getting to max "-x% hostile effect duration" you might be able to stack two of them without too much hassle, too. I played several FF combos with maxed INT (and RES) and the curse duration wasn't much of an issue after some levels. Dropping DEX a bit and/or putting on fat armor and/or not using dual wielding but shield instead so that your recovery isn't shorter than the curse can help to not accidentially kill yourself while spamming FF ability. However, dumped MIG and CON is a bit weird. Since Fortitude is the most important defense against later game afflictions this might bite you in the rear at some point. But you can always switch to Duality of Mortal Presence: CON to ramp up the Fortitude I guess and combine it with Crucible of Suffering. Might suffice in a party, even as fronliner.

  25. My journeys continue in the " saga of the Sword Coast " Im deep in the Cloakwood Forest and having Imoen and detect traps is a huge benefit around avoiding spider web traps I also had an epic final battle around my Vienxay mod NPC quest which culminates in the Cloakwood Forest where you confront her former mistress, Luna, a powerful Shadowmage and her apprentices. Very hard to defeat Luna with all her summoning spells and apprentices so I had to be strategic I used Silence 15 Radius on her to stop her casting more spells after the initial spells and then used my Wand of Fear to confuse her summoned elementals and then I ran away and she chased me but her apprentices stayed behind because they were using shadow magic But once I separated Luna from the group I was able to kill her and then I returned to kill the rest I am about to enter the Cloakwood Mines, exciting times

(sorry for the colour, but I am unable to remove it from the copypasta of the source material) “Open-source intelligence (OSINT) analyst Oliver Alexander published an examination of satellite imagery from July 27 showing open graves at the Olenivka prison, noting that July 29 satellite imagery appears to show that the same graves have been covered. Investigative journalism group Bellingcat founder Eliot Higgins stated that lower resolution satellite imagery indicates ground disturbances after July 18 and prior to July 21, suggesting that the Russians may have planned the incident in advance.” https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/russian-offensive-campaign-assessment-july-31

I've been feeling a little tired, but otherwise I'm fine, in spite of having had close contact. Third time (that I know of, at least) I'm directly exposed due to coworkers and family. Antigen test came back negative, so not sure. Might be tired from something else, but it sure feels a little like I'm a little under the weather.

Padme's crotch can survive more than 14000 newtons of force (force, not "The Force") Some geeky person looked up Natalie Portman's weight (53.5kg, yes this all scientific stuff, hence metric!), calculated the height of the pillar and according to lore, the planets gravity is 90% of Earths... so 8.82 meter per second. Normal human bones gets destroyed when exposed to 4000 Newtons
