The Waylanders. Replaying it as a Mourian Ranger, as I was often switching to a ranged character during the first playthrough. The differences so far include that none of the companions wants to talk to me after completing their loyalty quests (2 left, so it might change later), but I was able to recruit the last companion, whom I had missed (the cut-scene had not triggered) on the previous playthrough. It might have something to do with the order of completion of the main quests, but not sure. Also, my lore-wise immortal ranger has been repeatedly called a mortal, which suggests that the story was written with a human MC in mind. On the other hand, after gaining the title of Mil Espaine, the MC is only Mil Espaine (whatever that it, the Wikipedia article and the in-game encyclopedia did not help me to figure it out).2 points

4th of July has become my least favorite holiday over the last few years because of both this phenomenon and because so many of the people who most fervently celebrate it seeming to be less than my ideal kind of people. To all of those who are decent and sane still trying to hold the fort down, I salute you...but it might be a lost cause at this point.2 points

Oh and another interesting news from yesterday. Defense Politics Asia has reported, that UA army captured Snihurivka in Kherson Oblast. As of this morning, UA side did not confirm this, but that could be contributed to still ongoing embargo on Kherson Front reports. If this report by DPA is indeed correct, that would be very interesting news as well, probably one of the most interesting from whole battlefield in last few days maybe weeks. Snihurivka was also captured by Russians on April 3rd, and since then, they turned it into most fortified city in Kherson oblast, as it is very important logistic node for RU GLOCs inside Kherson Oblast and for possible future RU offensive against Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts. This would also mean that the first line of Russian defense line on Southern Front was breach at another, this time very significant place.2 points

Though your statement is in complete contrast over what the leaders said during the last weeks NATO talks in Madrid Also if you are used to linking some of, let me say interesting" ZH articles, allow me to make a counter with this video analysis, which is talking about how the West is going to "weaponize" recession against Russia, so if that analysis is plausible, then the most powerful Western countries have already prepared countermeasures for the economic hardship which will hit our economies in the next few months, because it will definitely ruin Russia, which is the end goal. I bet China is already celebrating to get their hand on cheap Siberia assets, and probably preparing grab for Manchuria, which they lost to Russia after the Boxer Rebellion2 points

The interesting thing is, That I have not seen a report of Iskander missile being fired in more than a month... Anyway a little bit of info which hit me during last few days about Lysychansk situation. Both RU and UA sources claimed, that a month ago, there was 15000+ UA soldiers. Short while before retreating from Severodonetsk, Hirske and Zolote, UA units got the order for controlled retreat from area. From Zolote, they retreated swiftly and with almost no issues. Unfortunately for them, a pocket of soldiers who covered they retreat, was created in Hirske, which lead to big number of PoW, after it's capture (I have not find how big the number was). The interesting thing is, that it looks like, that UA started with retreat of heavy machinery, which is pretty well documented by both UA and RU sources. There were some casualties of the machinery. UA sources says that it was not very significant, RU sources says that more than 700 pieces of heavy machinerey were captured or destroyed. The thing is, not a single photo of caputred or destroyed machines have been released so far to back up these RU claims, which I find it strange, because as soon as first soldier arrived in center of Lysychansk, there was constant flood of photos released. Therefore, my conslusion is, that the UA reports are more plausible. So after a month of controlled retreat from the last places of Luhansk Oblast, the city of Lysychansk has fallen, with sources from UA claiming, that around 500 soldiers were unable to escape, and RU claiming that more than 2000 are still trapped there. Another interesting thing is, that after the fall of Lysychansk, there are now almost no PoW reported by RU sources. It is statistically impossible to have almost no PoWs from the pool of 2000 soldiers trapped, therefore I am again more inclined to believe to reports from UA side. So my conclusion from the whole Luhansk cauldron is, that despite the Russia celebrating the victory in whole Luhansk Oblast already, it came at an ridiculous cost on their side, while UA was able to retreat at least 10000 soldiers alive (even the number around 12000 is still pretty plausible) out of the cauldron with almost intact heavy machinery... That is indeed a prime example of Pyrrhic victory for Russia, as there are educated guesses that RU had in this fight approx 5 times as much casualties than UA. My guess pulled out of my ass according to info, which I got from various sources is that UA could have approx 2k casualties, which would mean minimum of 10k casualties on RU side (during last month of this siege, the number of confirmed RU losses in senior officer ranks has increased by around 200, possibly even more). The other interesting thing is, that UA is now in the east using pretty much the same tactic, as RU used to defeat Napoleon. Exhaust as much of enemy forces in fortified strongholds, then run away safely and repeat. Also speaking of RU "victory in Luhansk, UA aremy still holds ground in Bilohorivka, the infamous village, where the UA army destroyed whole RU BTG, during river crossing, and yesterday, 4 more RU army ammunition warehouses have been blown up deep in the occupied LNR/DNR territory2 points

Ah Concelhaut's Crushing Doom is a good example, I didn't realize enemies having unique spells was not that unusual, maybe I got tunnel vision since I only had access to minor imprint1 point

It could be that Ikorno knew the spell. When you steal spells from a companion like Aloth or a hireling, you can steal either spells that they know inherently (from leveling up) or spells in the grimoire they have equipped. If you steal spells from the weather mages on slaver ships, for example, you can get several spells from them that aren't in their grimoires. As soon as I hit lvl 7 or 10 when playing a mage, I head toward Crookspur to battle slaver ships to steal spells from the mages on them. Thanks for the hotkey tip; I didn't know that.1 point

Oh no, don't worry, I have the soundtracks and the movie for Whisper of the Heart, . (e): Ninja-ed by majestic. A friend of mine actually described watching Princess Mononoke as being like playing a video game - with the viewer being Ashitaka, the protagonist. It's a weird comparison, but it somehow makes sense and is kind of along the same lines as how I felt. Angel's Egg:1 point

I don't know why, but I just had 2 mages both get the unique Ninagauth's Death Ray from Ikorno (bounty), who obviously shouldn't and doesn't have that spell. I think I also stole some spell that wasn't in the grimoire from low level enemies, notably that guy who attacks you after you trade with Dunnage's tavern owner. Can somebody explain it technically? also if a mage steals a spell he knows/has in grimoire, after save/load the spell will be hidden, only the normal version can be cast. A workaround is to assign a hotkey to the stolen spell before any s/l, while it's still next to other unlimited ones, then after s/l the unlimited version will be in the hotkeys row. Useful to allow Aloth to cast minor missles, since it's not bad but Aloth has it at lv1.1 point

風の谷のナウシカ Well, that was a good deal better than もののけ姫, but that is not much of a surprise. Princess Mononoke's animation was more sophisticated, although it's hard to find a lot of faults with the animation in this film. I watched it on Netflix where there's most likely some quality loss of a blu ray version, particularily sometimes the colors of our little protagonist's pants are severely off. They change from white to a pink tinge to sometimes looking a whole lot like the color of Nausicaä's face, which is a little weird. Nausicaä is a figure of Greek myth, which I guess inspired parts of the film. There's one particular part that meta knowledge ruined the impact of: Anyway, much like Princess Mononoke, I feel as if this film could easily lose 15 or even 20 minutes and make for a tighter watching experience, there are a few sequences that are basically the animated equivalent of special effects for the sake of having special effects. I can't fault the artists for that, but I really wish they'd cut that out. Grave of the Fireflies and Whisper of the Heart don't have any scenes that seem to be as, well, let's call them filled with artistic self-indulgence, and are all the better for it. However, that is also probably because neither of the films lend themselves to having sequences that are just there to show off impressive animation. Anyway, the film was good. As usual, post apocalyptic settings, even if they're as interesting as this one, isn't what I usually look for in films, and Nausicaä herself is quite likeable and a better character than Ashitaka, but at times she has the same issues. What she does, though, is have a much, much better personal motivation and reason for being like that, and that integrates her a lot better into the world. Solid. Also, not really related but still hilarious, when you might end up regretting a tattoo: Dude, next time pick someone you can trust. I generally don't have a problem with that, or protagonists or antagonists that are just metaphors instead of real characters, the problem for me with Princess Mononoke in particular is that the film is not overly interesting to begin with and, unlike with Nausicaä, none of the factions or characters really appealed to me. Hence that falls completely on its face, and it kind of ruins the setup which I thought was not a terrible idea, just badly executed - at least while rewatching the film. Now after having watched Nausicaä, it feels almost entirely redundant. Nausicaä is similar and better in every way. Except maybe the usage of colors, but that's subjective. Then there's probably half an hour of runtime that could be cut without changing the impact of meaning of the film, some of these scenes drag on and on with no clear purpose. Meandering isn't a particularily desirable trait to have for a movie with a 130 minute runtime. Aside from that, no, I have not played Half-Life 2 and I'm not very likely to ever do that. For a number of reasons, the strongest of which is a dislike for Valve, and the fact that it apparently ends on a stupid cliffhanger that's never going to be resolved. Screw that.1 point

our daily battle with the deer continues. the deer are winning. is a picture after we managed to chase the deer from our yard this am. the redwoods and fir is Gromnir property. is our neighbor's propane tank-- neighbor is on what is referred to as a circle lot and we had already landscaped the majority o' common area before he built, so our large lot is effective even larger than it appears to be on paper. these deer get into the fenced portion o' our yard and destroy, destroy, destroy. worst o' all, am much concerned 'bout our dogs who have free access to our backyard via a doggie door. the delicate looking deer hooves are capable o' caving in the skull o' even a large and ferocious canine in the blink o' an eye and our little yappers instinctive will bark and run at the deer. the possibility for a tragic ending is high. more first world problems, but am genuine concerned for our ankle biters as the deer literal come up onto our patio to eat potted plants. I don't have any sort of hard ban on any of these companies, but in practice, I rarely if ever buy games from them. In the case of Ubisoft, with the exception of stuff like Rabbids or those dancing games, all their major franchises are essentially the same. They're not bad, but if I played all of them I would get super burned out. My solution is to pick 1 to play every 3 or 4 years. Activision/Blizzard hasn't made a game I've had any interest in whatsoever in decades. Similar story with EA, ever since Bioware stopped being the RPG company we once knew and loved and became just another cog in the EA machine, churning out uninspired, formulaic games, I've not had any interest in any of their games. Heck, EA Play comes bundled with Game Pass Ultimate, so I have access to dozens and dozens of EA games at no additional cost right now. I have exactly zero installed. If any of these companies were to put out a game I desperately want to play, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it. I'm not holding my breath.1 point

the new ohio abortion ban which went into effect on wednesday does not have a rape exception. when the ohio bill were being debated, the hypothetical thirteen-year-old (admitted not ten, but would that make a difference?) victim o' rape were specific addressed and supporters o' the bill observed how the unborn child in such a case were innocent and deserved protection. the people o' ohio and mississippi and indiana and more states every day all has decided your ten-year-old's suffering is tragic, but that the murder o' an unborn child is a sin too great and as such the life o' the unborn outweighs the pain o' the ten year-old rape victim. people reached that conclusion. people passed jim crow laws in the south. people passed the espionage act in the early 1900s and the patriot act in the early 2000s. one o' these days gd is gonna have an epiphany... or not. is weird 'cause am certain gd has seen first hand just how terrible people will be to each other if they believe they have a reason for their actions or if they is frightened or if... whatever. heck, in spite o' statistics which show unequivocable that carry a firearm endangers others around him as well as himself, gd nevertheless carries a concealed gun with him everywhere, and it ain't 'cause he needs protection from politicians he may meet at the local feed store. he recent spoke to a divorce lawyer who shared horror stories of people doing evil to each other for the most petty o' reasons. people. were no mystery the kinda pre roe nightmares pregnant women faced and we all knew what were coming if the Court overturned, 'cause the Court didn't make abortions illegal, but it did leave the problems up to the states and their individual representative democracies to come up with solutions. we all knew what were coming but somehow now gd is enraged? freaking muslim ban all over again. people are petty and selfish and violent. not all people is monstrous, at least not all of the time, but if they were even bad only 1% o' the time you would need recognize and take efforts to minimize the evil men do, yes? the founders recognized such and took efforts to put limits on the predictable excesses and transgressions o' the people. we got the Constitution to preserve representative democracy and simultaneous to place systemic and explicit checks on a majority which inevitable abandons wisdom in favour o' greed, fear, and intolerance. the tyranny o' the majority is what leads to ohio's new abortion law. unfortunate, not enough people cared 'bout your pre-teen rape victim in spite o' fact we knew her and others like her were gonna suffer. ohio didn't do anything sneaky. the people o' ohio broadcast what they were doing and americans sat torpid and waited for the Court to fix or break. stoopid people. ordinary and predictably stoopid people.1 point

To get the most of of the Arcane Archer variant (I mean circumventing the frustrating omittance of the second and third imbue projectile) I personally would use Watershaper's Focus from stealth to open combat. First use Imbue: Web once the enemies got lured to a spot or gathered around the tank. Then later def. Imbue: Pull of Eora. That way you will not drop only two Pulls (initial + Driving Flight) but three (init. + DF + Watershaper's Focus build-in jump). It's very hard for enemies to escape three parallel pulls that were applied with sky-high ACC. Also there will be three times the Blast damage of the rod which very often triggers its enchantment "Ondra's Wrath" which might ascend you right at the spot. Because you shoot this one from stealth you will have nearly no recovery (stealth offers a -85% recovery time bonus). You can then switch to Frostseeker. Sure, there will be switching recovery, but I think it's absolutely worth it. Because of that I was thinking about an Arcane Archer/Black Jacket with 0 switching recovery and four weapon slots (Frostseeker/Watershaper's Focus/Spearcaster/Essence Interrupter) to cover all resistances/immunites of enemies and be able to interrupt at the spot. Penetrating Strike and Disciplined Strikes would be nice to have for Frostseeker. And you wouldn't need to cast a bunch of debuffs/buffs like the Ascendant would. But I think Ascendant is more up your alley if you want to focus on Frostseeker. By the way: since you are scaling Arcane anyway it would be a crime to use Frostseeker and not use scrolls of Avenging Storm from time to time. It's just too good. Speaking of Cipher again: Biting Whip is pretty bad in the vanilla game - I mean compared to Draining Whip. If you install the Community Patch you will have a more balanced Biting Whip ability. That mod also fixes an annoying bug of the Arcane Archer: all his damaging Imbue shots (Missiles, Fireball and Death Ring) won't scale their PEN - so they become rather bad at higher levels because they can't penetrate anymore. The mod makes it so that the PEN of imbue shots scales with your Arcana skill. This helps to keep them viable until the end. And on top you'll get unique passive icons for every class in the game as sugar coating. Even if Black Jacket isn't your thing I would still encourage you to try Spearcaster at some point just to see how it is with an Archane Archer. It's Rune Shot enchantments gets bonus ACC from the Arcana skill and it stacks with the Arcana-induced bonus of the imbue shots, giving you absurd amounts of ACC (with an Imbue or Accurate Wounding Shot). It can be very good against enemies you want to interrupt very reliably with the modal. You don't need to commit yourself to it, just try it out some time.1 point
