  1. I don't understand why it doesn't cover childless women. I mean, if it is an all hands on deck emergency, why is it just the men? My wife is a better shot than I am. If it is about families, why aren't single dads exempt?

  4. That is absolutely understandable. But as Wali goes, he has required army experience to be a valid asset in defense of Ukraine. And not all people went to Ukraine to fight Russia. I've seen many volunteers who went there to volunteer as Medics close to front lines, to help civilians.

Another big blow to Russian "special operations" Allegedly their biggest tank manufacturer, who is also a biggest tank manufacturer in the world, has become victim of western "special economic operations" and had to stop manufacturing tanks, due to lack of tech parts required to build them. https://defence--ua-com.translate.goog/news/jedinij_u_rf_virobnik_tankiv_uralvagonzavod_zupiniv_robotu_cherez_brak_komplektujuchih-6556.html?fbclid=IwAR09GfZH-VnHWXiTGEgQQaDHXhxAseotNG46Tg8NrZpZvRY14Gtlfwwdw7s&_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

  8. We use a software tool call TAP to plan site builds and radio deployment of private 5G networks. My job is to optimize performance on completed project sites. Mainly indoors or on premises outdoors. More and more I'm finding that TAP has been causing some... miscalculations in propagation distance. the thing about 5G is it's utilizing channels in the EHF band. So wavelength is really, really, short. Less than a centimeter. As wavelength is directly proportional to propagation distance where power is constant distance from radios to handsets is a big deal. Well, the finished projects have blind spots and when I load them in TAP there shouldn't be. So I stopped using TAP, broke out the ol' faithful TI-36X (29 years old it's still the best calculator I've ever used) and channeled my inner Friis and calculated free space path loss and coverage arc. TAP was wrong. Every single time wrong. I know a lot of my colleagues think I'm a grouchy old man who does not trust computers. Not that it isn't true. But the best computer is the one between your ears!

  13. I like the deal for the Chiefs as well (the value of which is a little better than what the Packers got for Davante Adams, which is surprising to me given that the Packers had very little leverage given that whole situation), but the Chiefs don't have anyone in waiting that can really be even 75% of what he gave them, which is why I would say it's a year too early. Still, Mahomes' career with the Chiefs figures to be long and he'll be able to weather situations like this, so "one year too early" is infinitely superior to "one year too late"...whereas the Dolphins are presumably hoping Tua looks like a better version of the guy we saw win 8 out of his last 9 games the previous season to be able to take advantage of that rookie contract. He's getting too old for a team that's had a losing record the last 4 years with no real prospect of changing it in the near future (especially repeatedly going 7-9/10 like they have been...), and they seemed to have prioritized sending him where he wanted to go rather than trying to max out compensation.

  16. For short term it may help prevent ruble from crashing, but it means that Russia loses it main source of foreign currency, which would mean that their economy has higher risk to crash if they in any point lose their energy export. It also increase volatility of their foreign trade as they have less foreign currency to use in case ruble's value drops in some point.

Good thing the world still have great humanitarians, like Belarus' Lukashenko (sp?), offering political asylum to persecuted Americans from the fascist dictatorship that is the US... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-60843262 A California man suspected of taking part in the US Capitol riots last year has been granted asylum in Belarus. Evan Neumann fled the US after being charged in connection with the riots. The 48-year-old first settled in Ukraine, before reaching Belarus where he asked for asylum - claiming he faced "political persecution" in the US.

  20. Shadow Step has an interesting property : the paralysis part is applied on next weapon Hit (Miss and Graze don't count). As long as no attack Hits the Paralysis charge isn't spent and last forever. Also, the paralysis is applied without a roll. Basically, you're pretty much guaranteed to get something paralysed at some point (Ok, without mod, it's probably not worth it for 3 Guiles, but still...)

  21. In a way, you do have a point, but that's not all there is to it. For instance, when the Soviet Union attacked Finland in 1939, Christopher Lee (of Saruman and Dracula fame) was one of the people who went to Finland and tried to get to the front. They were kept away from the fighting and sent home after about two weeks, probably for a good reason. It's not as if they knew what they were doing. You can read about this in his autobiography.

  24. Hah! I installed a nude mod and hair mods for Dragon Age: Origins. The hair mod had an obvious effect. The nude mod I had because it had great skin texture on the character's face when taking screenshots. I had completely forgotten about the "nude" part. Then I went back to Ostagar and found the crucified King. Who suddenly was nude

  25. Amazing, thanks for this @Haplok! I think I'm going to have to give this one a go. It looks like a wonderful combination of burst damage, sustained damage, control and mobility. Exactly what I'm looking for... AND makes good use of some very fun looking weapons in Seekers Fang and Gravecalling. Never too wild about guns, but I'm excited that they only seem to be part of the puzzle here. I am going to give the Forbidden Fist route a try as well. It could easily 'blunt' my edges, or help round the build out - we'll see. Logically, this is a character that wants to get in, crush a squishy and avoid getting hit while dishing out the chaos... but FF looks like it helps round things out a bit in terms of resilience and, as you point out, some interesting options for the curse. The Assassin/Bloodmage combo discussed has also piqued my interest too, as it appears to offer pretty much the same selling points listed above. Really, the variety offered by Wizard spells should really have made the decision for me... but for whatever reason I just can't look past ciphers at the moment. Yes, their spells seem to be far less flashy, you get far fewer to play with, and they playstyle is as limiting as it is engaging... but I keep coming back. I think flavour is a big part of it, for better or worse.

  29. Playing Elex 2 right now (along with short bursts of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion and Far Cry 6.. that's a combined 500 hours right there!). I'm biased as hell since I'm a huge fan of Piranha Bytes ever since Gothic at the beginning of time, but I must say that Elex 2 is a return to form for Piranha Bytes in my opinion. Elex was.. ok. It introduced a new setting, a new main character and it was a good try at something new for the team (mix of tech and magic). It just ended up being so bland. The gameworld was colourless and repetitive, the enemies were the same as previous games except less colourful and the story was.. let's call it un-memorable (better than forgettable, shut up). Elex 2 started off horribly for me. The writing/editing in the first few minues was so bad I honestly didn't understand what was going on (I had forgotten a lot of Elex's story) and the starting area looked even blander than I remembered from Elex. But since I had pre-ordered (don't judge!) at almost full price, I pressed on. I fought a few weird creatures, climbed a few towers with my jetpack and lo and behold, slowly but surely I started getting that Piranha Bytes feeling back again. After a while I even started finding quests that were well written and the game started making sense. Not only that, some of the quests were actually interesting enough for me to want to solve them for reasons other than the reward at the end (not always a given, unfortunately)! The world feels much more varied this time around, the characters feel more fleshed out (and the dialogue is so encompassing, it feels like the characters have something to say about every scene, no matter which companion you happen to travel with) and the combat feels much better now (especially ranged). I do, however, also feel that they might have eased up on the difficulty level a tad bit too much. I can understand why they did it (judging by the feedback from the first game) but I think they might have overshot it. The main thing though is that this feels like a proper Piranha Bytes game again: open world, no hand holding, secrets around every corner, no quest markers/map icons/Ubi towers or any of that crap, just pure unadulterated violent exploration. I love it. I should probably mention that the jetpack is brilliant this time around and you'll actually get to use it to its full capacity for some of the game's more hidden stuff. Farting about around decaying skyscrapers is awesome. I've maxed out my character now and just entered chapter 3 so the game is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth. I'll probably stop running around so much and concentrate more on the actual story quests from now on. But it has definitely already given me my money's worth. Also, and this is definitely worth mentioning, I haven't had a single crash for over 90 hours! I haven't even encountered any bugs! That is amazing and such a gigantic change from, for example, the release of Gothic 3 (if anyone remembers that disaster). KUDOS TO YOU, PIRANHA BYTES!

  30. Finished Fringe. I kind forgot it's flaws, in that it suffered from the detective and the buddy formula, but it grew out of that as the series progressed. All in all it holds up well.

  34. Essentially what the title says- once the upper portions of the back yard are more fleshed out and it becomes even more necessary to travel to various parts of the back yard quickly in order to continue having enough of all the resources you need, a pulley operated elevator could be added. Locking an acorn top elevator that's operated via pulley system behind the woodpile chip or some other yet-to-be-added burgl chip to make the upper portions still intimidating and challenging to conquer would be a good way to reward players with a "soft fast travel" that works both ways unlike the ziplines which are 1 way only could be a desireable reward for players, even if it's the very last area of the game that rewards you with them. As it stands now, having my base near the woodpile is great but it's a challenge to return from excursions that would be alleviated only somewhat by a pulley elevator- but enough to actually feel rewarding without subtracting from the absolutely wonderful experience of running through the back yard and dodging bugs.

And then did Tyolus say to the people of the low plains: 'Seek not the wickedness amongst your neighbors, lest it find purchase in your own house'. So basically that's just us in the thread then? Minus the rabble who still refuses to watch Sailor Moon, of course.
