I don't believe in souls, afterlife/reincarnation, etc, so no, I don't believe in paranormal. That's just my choice tho. People believe what makes them feel most comfortable within their own headspace. Heck, for we all we know, one's belief and desire is what somehow cosmically dictates what one will encounter upon death. And thus my mom will be waiting thru eternity for me to show up. Sorry, mom. Edit: for some reason this makes me think of Firefly/Serenity and "I'm a leaf on the wind."3 points

I was semi serious https://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/stories/s709110.htm German tourist killed by crocodile in Kakadu https://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/2017/03/21/teenager-mauled-by-crocodile-tried-to-impress-backpacker-who-th_a_21903819/ When 18-year-old Lee De Paauw jumped into crocodile-infested waters in far-north Queensland on Sunday morning, he was convinced he would walk away with his bravado and the girl he was trying to impress. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/australiaandthepacific/australia/1411154/14ft-crocodile-kills-backpacker.html 14 foot crocodile kills backpacker (paywall, don't visit) https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/nov/28/british-tourists-film-moment-crocodile-lunged-out-of-australian-creek-at-them A crocodile attack that left a British tourist with a leg wound has been captured on camera in Australia. In the footage, posted to Facebook by Ally Bullifent, a crocodile can be seen jumping out of the water towards the women as they scream. You bloody racist! I'm sure those tribes are human too.... As for the Coelacanth, that one is indeed an oddity. Nobody doubts it's existence either, because hard evidence was produced (fresh corpses, not just 60 million year old fossils) Edit: I should say, nobody has good reasons to doubt its existence...2 points

Maybe they reproduce by budding clones, like some aphids. And eat mud and algae. And have very very tiny appetites from doing nothing but lying in said mud playing video games while avoiding sonar and giggling.2 points

Believe? No, not really. Again, not quite the same as believing there is none. There just hasn't been any hard proof presented and I suspect people sometimes work themselves into some kind of self induced (mass) hysteria, seeing things, because of the way brains compensates for what they expected to see and are not seeing and then fills in the gaps for them. It's a mechanism that is so strong, that people truly believe they saw "something", because it's real in their brains, having generated the same input as if their sensory nerves had registered it. They could pass a lie detector test too, because to them it *is* real.2 points

I saw an episode once of something I suspect would have been a "ghost hunter" kind of show. It was cringe worthy. People running around with shaky-cams trying to recreate the Blair Witch Project atmosphere, using narrators with ominous voices and jarring background music to create a sense of drama where none was. Vampire Bloodlines: The Masquerade made a much better job of creating a creepy atmosphere. Anyone remember that quest? Edit: Not the haunted house (best quest ever), but the ghost hunters setting up shop in an old decrepit building, preparing to shoot an episode... I'm an agnostic in this regard too. I don't believe the ratings dependent TV shows for a second, but wont rule out either that there may be things we can't see in spectrum human sensory organs can perceive. I feel the same way about religion. Don't believe the word coming out of the mouth of a priest (any religion) for a second, but that doesn't mean The Big Bang is an all encompassing theory.2 points

The global.gamedatabundle will let you tweak the numbers, open it up and search for GlobalGameSettingsGameData. There's entries in there such as AttributeHealthMultiplier, AttributeAccuracyAdjustment, etc. I don't think you can change what each stat does though, just alter the values of what they currently do2 points

First of all, I know lots of people skip over this and Josh himself said the company should have concentrated on boarding as the only way to interact on ships. Even the mighty Sid Meier had trouble making ship-to-ship combat good. So with that in mind, let's just try to make the ship game in Deadfire slightly better. Just a smidge. Here... I made this spreadsheet.... That's where I'd like your help. I was wondering, if you could tweak the ship/cannon numbers ... What would you do? Preferably, I'd like to be able to compete with any vessel. As it stands, a broadside from a large vessel with double-bronzers will completely wipe you out. Perhaps chance to be hit should be lower for the little guys? Look at all those guns! How many do players actually use? Two or three? to be fair, wil were just a kid at the time. dunno 'bout you but the twenty years 'tween when we were ten and when we hit thirty resulted in changes which would render us unrecognizable to those who knew us when we were 9ish or 10ish. converse, have somebody meet us when we were thirty compared to today and the changes is more subtle and less disconcerting. also, and let's be honest, patrick stewart looked like an old guy long before he were actual old. 1985 patrick stewart ... btw, the only reason we responded were the opportunity to use the lifeforce clip. Germany recognizes Kosovo as independent state with 96 other countries. Kosovo is also member of World Bank, World Customs Organization and International Monetary Fund, so at least two formal institutions recognize it. Kosovo is also member of Venice Council Also Germany has banned sales of small side arms to non-allies (EU, Nato, Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia) Kosovo has standing army, Kosovo Armed Forces transformed form Kosovo Security Force in 2018. Germany didn't ban from bigger weapon systems, because French and British manufactures who use German parts were effected by them as they could not sell stuff to Saudi Arabia. I am only able to find that H&K was seeking license to sell weapons to Kosovo. Not that they have got such license.1 point

It will be episode 7 + 8 tonight...probably! I'm reliably unreliable about these things, plus my team is playing in the Super Basketbowl tonight as well, so we'll see, . It's happened once or twice already, and those interactions have been very different and really good (e.g. relatively early on when Sakura and Meiling were discussing what kinds of gifts they should give, when Meiling thought for sure Sakura was going to more or less literally kidnap and murder her, ). Although I like Kero, him treating Meiling like garbage all of the time makes natural and pleasant interactions with her difficult and needlessly antagonistic.1 point

I cant remember exactly....there was a quest to snipe somebody while hiding in the mouth of the T-Rex? The target never spawned, so I couldnt finish the quest, and I turned off the game and never started it again. Also, first person perspective gives me a headache/nausea so I wanst even that motivated to play it to begin with.1 point

I'm really curious how Utena will continue. From what I understood of the articles I've read, the first 13 episodes are their own character introduction and setup "arc" and afterwards the more or less only hinted at storyline should begin. I'm kind of expecting that the anime will begin to change in nature at that point, and I've been stalling here and there, or rather, preoccupied myself with other things. Like Love Live! where the third episode was the inevitable drop in quality compared to the superb second one. It had good parts, but part of the fanservice was suddenly back. Not much of a surprise given the two live performances in the episode, one by A-RISE and one by µ's. Out of which A-RISE was pretty cringy, in every way, from their costumes to the actual song: There was also some fun stuff about them talking to the A-RISE girls or making a mess of a public annoucement at school, but there also was a terrible scene where they talked about their costumes and how they need to have sexy dresses to get some attention. At least Umi and Eri flat out refused to entertain such nonsense, but yeah, they still got badgered into wearing the other costumes you can see in the video*. *sigh* In the end, Love Live! is what it is, and it has moments like these that are really annoying in an otherwise perhaps silly but decently entertaining enough show. *Although, to be fair, actual real life pop stars don't wear anything better either, do they. Still cringe. edit: Assemble Insert sounds like great 80ies trash. I might look into that.1 point

You should make it happen, it would only require changing one thing. This is the status effect that links crits to the second effect, gaining focus: "$type": "Game.GameData.StatusEffectGameData, Assembly-CSharp", "DebugName": "The_Complete_Self_SE_ApplyOnEvent", "ID": "962ed740-cbec-4da4-8055-241acaf726e0", It's in the statuseffects.gamedatabundle file. In that specific section of code where this status effect is, it limits it to Cipher attacks via: "ClassTypeID": "ccdc9675-e2a7-46fa-83e9-7a5368b56265" So just change it to the wizard's class ID, acfd1303-4699-4939-91eb-6ac46d4af0bd. This would do exactly what you want, but now you'd want to copy these effects and their linked ability code, and create a sub-class out of it. Rename the DebugName, create new IDs for them, create new text strings to describe them, etc.1 point

Mostly playing Guild Wars 2 these days... the release of the legendary armory resulted in a mass reshuffling of gear and the revisit of living world season 3 started tonight too. I'm sort of up to speed with that. Short explanation: Legendary armory is a new feature where your legendary gear gets stored and instead of deciding which alt gets what legendary gear, they can now *all* use the same gear, as they all have access to a an "instance" or copy of the gear. I.e. if you have a legendary sword, all your toons can now use that one sword and each one select their owns stats and appearance independent of each other. Legendary prices are expected to become... legendary The revisit part is Arenanet throwing carrots at people while waiting for the next major expansion (the third expansion), which got delayed from end of 2021 to somewhere 2022 (officially blaming covid for slowing down the process). They created a new set of achievements, which is basically replaying all the existing "Living World" story content, grind your butt off, do impossible jumping puzzles and do triple backwards flips with your left hand tied to your right foot... or something. Anyway, the reward for doing it all is a legendary item (amulet iirc) once all of it is done. And people are on a stampede throughout the story, crowding my personal space on the current map(s) a lot When not doing GW2, sort of alternating between Killing Floor 2 (for some hectic co-op shooter action) and Dungeon of Naheulbeuk (sp?), the latter still being very fun to play I figure, once the dungeon crawl is finished, then I might pick of Fallout New Vegas again. I actually never completed it... cough cough. Made it to Hoover Dam several times, but something always got in the way, usually something silly like moving country or what have you, taking me away from my game for prolonged periods of time1 point

A couple more episodes of Utena. Though the show is not really very much at all like Steven Universe, this show is basically Pearl: The Origins Show - very obviously where so much of her overall design (personality, themes, the way some of her movement is animated, even her music and expressions to a degree) are inspired from. Pretty weird stuff. (e): Another two - Nanami's a riot. Ikuhara's weird surrealism and self-memes are already out in full force...1 point

https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-57826851 "Websites for a Russian-linked ransomware gang blamed for attacks on hundreds of businesses worldwide have gone offline. Monitors say a payment website and a blog run by the REvil group became suddenly unreachable on Tuesday. The reason behind the disappearance is unknown, but has sparked speculation that the group may have been targeted deliberately by authorities." I suppose there are two possibilities. If it's just the internet assets that disappeared and are never heard from again, it's probably the CIA that got fed up with the gang. If the gang members disappeared and are never heard from again, it's probably Putin that got fed up with them....1 point

So far I like it. Lt. Col. DIO really does seem like a nice guy and doesn't yell much. The characters seem to be more grounded than other animes, hell most of them seem pretty normal and mostly concerned with getting by in a post-war society which is pretty close to slice of life. I think the show has been a nice refresh after AoT's mix of melodrama and action. I'll see how it goes and try to watch the OVA after episode 4. And speaking of DIO...1 point

That's the magic of Sunless Sea (and Skies), emergent stories. The game is all about resource management and it's a roguelite, so you have to accept that failure is a part of the experience and that you will get screwed by RNG sometimes. Some of the most entertaining stories come out of things going horribly wrong and the desperate attempt to salvage the situation. It also helps that the writing in the game is delightfully weird and full of dark humor. It's definitely not a game for people that don't want to read. There is a lot of reading.1 point

Wasn't sure whether to put this in the Movies thread, or the funny things thread instead, but... So Hollywood wants to do a movie on the Christchurch Mosque attack. Someone leaked local media a draft script and it's about as hilariously awful as anyone's worst imaginings, albeit only excerpts have been publicly released so they've probably picked the worst examples. Basically, everyone involved has been turned into US tropes- including turning stridently pro assimilation Maori Winston Peters into a Mystical Native, having opposition politicians spout Hestonesque pro gun catchphrases (including those who voted for the gun control legislation) and having a tasteful and restrained long and graphic reconstruction of the shooting itself. Perhaps the funniest thing is that not only is it written by a New Zealander, it's the same guy responsible for the excellent Gattaca and Truman Show. And of course they've committed the worst crime against New Zealand imaginable, and cast Aussie Rose Byrne as our PM. Not like such things cannot be done well, there's an excellent movie about the Aramoana shootings which was our previous worst mass shooting called 'Out of the Blue' (w/ Karl Urban). But even that had a lot of opposition despite being (mostly) accurate and respectful.1 point

My son has recently taken up tennis, so I have been starting to follow it again a bit. When I was young, Agassi vs. Sampras were awesome and I was in love with Monica Seles. It is pretty shocking how dominant Steffi Graf was. It is even more shocking that her and Agassi live a very quiet life in Las Vegas now, and are still fairly young.1 point

I mean, it's sorta weird that people need to be given reasons to wash their hands, but hey... Rona isn't one, though. Evidence of fomite transmission is weak at best. This doesn't mean it's impossible, but estimated to be unlikely in the order of 1 in 10,000. You can get some really nasty antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections from **** on surfaces though, so wash your hands despite the small risk of rona infection. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-00251-41 point
