@majestic You can just watch End of Evangelion, the rest isn't really worth it.. What is worth it is SU, where Steven and Connie went into freefall.2 points

More complaining and some spoilers for Stargate SG-1 ahead.. Still, I guess I'm going to watch EVANGELION DEATH (TRUE)² first, recap or no. That's the proper order of things. Yes, yes. But not today. Well, maybe today, but not now, anyway.2 points

I looked more deeply into Wahai Poraga's attack game objects and it's pretty weird: First of all the dmg value from the tooltip (9-13 slash/crush) only counts for the initial attack. The additional "AoE" attack is a separate game object and has a base damage of 5-9 slash/crush only (same PEN). 5 - 9 Wahai Poraga does the initial attack and only one of the weak additional ones. Not 3 as the tooltip says. Besides that it's friendly fire as you know - and the AoE is fixed at 1.5m radius. Somebody nerfed that thing into the ground for good. No idea if intended or not. The enchantments are cool. I wonder why they made the additional attacks or the AoE part so different from other AoE weapons. And so darn complicated! It should work like mortars imo: low base damage but (small) AoE. Done. No problems. Anyway, I'm still trying to fix the number of additonal attacks. No luck so far. I can mod like everything of that weapon - but not the number of additional attacks. Why? Still have to find that out... If I can't fix it the easy way (by simply rising the number of additional attacks) I will try to copy the AoE functionality of the blunderbuss mortars and make them fixed size + friendly fire. Screw that weird "up tp 3" nonsense...2 points

I took a look into the attacks.gamedatabundle and found Wahai Poraga's AoE attack object which had this property: "numHits":2 Seems like an easy fix. Will edit and then try out if it works. Will report later...2 points

Well, that was wrong. On the bright side, I wrestled access to the TV and my Switch away from my nephew, whose school opened as of today. Which means more JoJo to come soon. I hope. I mean, I already saw the Cyborg, that was pretty much as glorious as I expected it to be.2 points

His Heart did fill is a bit mehish in my experience compared to the usual Cipher's Ancestor's Memory. Skipping the Dragon AND the upgraded Ancient Weapons (and all summons !) as a SC Troubadour feels like a sin. Also missing Eld Nary. Sip of the Marrow is also bugged : the secondary damages cones are launched from the caster instead of the exploding body ; and since they are shorter than the main one, you won't affect many targets ; the healing AoE from the upgrade works fine though. One thing to understand about Single Classes is that, apart Monk/Priest/Wiz/Druid, the natural advantage of SC compared to Multi is narrow. Which means you have to rely on specific abilities to make it work. Even if you want to focus on healing, I wouldn't skip Eld Nary and both Tier IX Summon. Secondary problem is that Chanters are really meh as main healers. Two fingers isn't very convenient to use and the Chants won't be enough. Mercy and Kindness is super great... especially with other healer in the party. All in all, I'm not convinced at all that the build can hold the role you want (unless you rely on scrolls + Mercy and Kindness). That said, SC Troubadour has good feats and is easily the most versatile of chanter subclasses, so I would agree it worths playing (over SC Skald which only purpose would be to spam Eld Nary).2 points

I found this fun little sports result and didn't really see an existing thread that fit the bill exactly, it's not one of popular local sports like the US NHL or NFL (or Basketball), nor a major international sport like FIFA soccer, which all have their own threads. Australia beat England in jousting 89-75. Come on England... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-502846631 point

the us attorney's office for the southern district o' florida made their announcement regarding the grennons on a friday, which is atypical but hardly unique. unless there is some kinda motivation to avoid immediate media blowback, fridays is not the expected day of release for this kinda thing. however, friday, april 23, 2021 were the one year anniversary o' trump's disinfectant and sunshine epiphanies. am gonna guess the timing were not coincidence. everybody gives birx heat for not contradicting trump, but the dhs science guy were active agreeing with trump. I...think that's the version to watch if you're going to. There are like 3 different versions of the movie, one that was the initial cut that had a big chunk of The End of Evangelion added onto it (I believe that's Death and Rebirth), then one that was a cut down version that had not just that but also other stuff removed as well, and then a "final" version that was ONLY the recap no TEoE with the previously removed scenes added back in. I think that last one is ^2. I think I tried to watch ^2, realized it was not the correct English dub and immediately peaced out, then found a DVD copy of the original Death and Rebirth with the correct English dub, watched the non-TEoE half, and then wondered why I watched because I got absolutely nothing out of it, . Yeah, non-endings are great - glad you love them too!1 point

That certainly was something, but not what I expected. I've known that the end of NGE was controversial and somewhat surrealistic, so much that "Gainax Ending" has become the anime synonym for Lynchian endings in movies. However, I expected an ending, to be honest. Something that resolves plot threads in an unexpected way that initially seems to make no sense, like the ending of Mulholland Drive, for instance. But that's not at all what this was. It wasn't an ending to anything, it was a two part episode exploring the character themes present in the anime where Shinji overcomes his own insecurities, levels up and puts some character points into self esteem, what with the metaphorical cracking of the egg (world) at the end and everyone congratulating him, with a prior solipsist detour and an exploration of its varieties (which I won't comment on, because I have a very low opinion of solipsism). And even that is somewhat unfinished, because Rei III and Asuka don't get their second parts (as teased by episode 25), although we can assume they manage too, they're functionally the same as Shinji both in and for this particular character exploration anyway, so a repeat would have been pointless. Level ups for everyone! Yay! Uhm. Great. Here's the real kicker, that was a really good two parter episode, but a complete failure as an ending. F, no points for effort. Time to watch the movies, I guess, even if I can't shake the feeling that they'll just double down on the nonsense and will claim "hey our last two episodes were really intended as the ending, because the Human Instrumentality Project has begun now and that is its result!"1 point

Even if I had the brain, social skills and the funds, I wouldn't have cared about going to Stanford or anything similar. When I was growing up I swear half the young boys in my public grade school (and some of the young girls) were being groomed for Standford by their upper middle class parents. Their preppy clothes and Izod shirts, tears if they didn't get top grades, a lot of pressure (and they were maybe 10-13). We lived close to it. I rode my bike by/though it a lot visiting friends. I spent a summer computer camp there. It was a major mental influence and pressure in the local city grade schools I went to. (but then public Highschool was different with a much more varied income class mix). It's a nice campus. But ... yeah. That kind of performance pressure, re: anything. No thanks.1 point

It really needs to change the format. They want it to be this glamorous night where we get a peak at all the people behind the movie magic. But there is nothing really mysterious about celebrities anymore. We see them all the time now. We have constant access to their lives. Ricky Gervais made it into a mockery, rightly so, and you can't go back to taking it seriously. It should either be a simplified way of recognizing those who work in the industry, or it should focus way more on the behind the scenes action. Like go deep on the nooks and crannies of the studio lots. We have enough access to the stars, I want to know more about the key grip.1 point

I don't know why but it always seems like you are fishing for reasons to validate your dislike of BLM. BLM isn't about gangs and gang related violence and if you don't want to support them because of their focus on police brutality and racially motivated violence then that's perfectly fine. There are many other organizations and movements for you to support that focus on gangs if that's what you're interested in.1 point

It was. That entire episode wasn't so bad, I mean, except for the obvious problems of SuperS. Usagi being super annoyed about food (that was the lemon pie episode, right?) is even something that's in character for her. Her reaction to it was completely overblown, but what can you do. Not sure what the dub had there as dialogue, but the subs mentioned baby and or very young Usagi pictures specifically. Chibi-Usa should know that all of those would be back home. I mean, in her home time. It's not like she left Tokyo. Nobody leaves Tokyo in Sailor Moon, except for Minako. Or so she claimed, at least. edit: Well, unless when going to strange enemy dimensions or the North Pole, but those don't count, right?1 point

Good thing you looked at Germany. That's at least much larger than Austria... uhm. *blink* Every frame nation is so dense, there's so much going on. Hehehe. But yes, that's true. We're more people in a much smaller area, but nowhere near as bad as certain East Asian countries. Considering how long it took me to realize that Asuka and Shinji have exactly the same problem with diametrically opposed coping mechanisms I'm kind of afraid I'll be left sitting bereft and in bewilderment of what's going on. At least I'll finally know what the memes were all about. I hope. That is one of the weirdest and quite frankly worst non-assault/non-pedophile scene in SuperS. First of all, given all the time Chibi-Usa was around, there should be plenty of pictures of her, then she has the faked pictures (although Luna claims they aren't fake, I think) and Chibi-Usa knows she's from the future and there wouldn't be any baby pictures of her, so why the hell is she wondering why there are none? Why, SuperS, why? Why not make at least one script revision? Seriously. What were you, a 90ies attempt at making Star Trek: Discovery?1 point

Wahai Poraga does very poor damage (it hits like a stiletto if I remember well), even lower than WotEP. It has some interesting enchantments which might be exploited (25% of damage taken returned as raw when you're under BDD can be easily abused) but that's all. Lord Darryn's Voulge is one of the best weapons a barbarian can use and does excellent single/AoE damage (you can bind it to other classes too, but you waste its AoE potential). Besides the obvious Static Thunder you have also 10% chance to proc Bolting Strikes on hit (which means it will be activated almost all the time). The only drawback is it can't be upgraded beyond superb. The damage/accuracy isn't a big deal but, depending on your class choice, you might have to switch to another weapon vs some bosses because of the penetration. The berserker/devoted can make it really shine.1 point

Not an RPG, but I strongly remember playing FTL and noting that the writing was really good. It's not a narrative-driven game, but it's much better than what you expect out of the average roguelike. Lo and behold, I check the credits and Avellone is a guest writer.1 point

Whether it works or not, thanks @Boeroer for helping me understand why I found the weapon underwhelming (damn I should look more closely at the combat log in those cases) and thanks for further investigating a fix. I really wonder if making it as advertised would turn it into a nice weapon. Happy to help if needed - though I'd probably be mostly useless. I can do some testing.1 point

The delay is that the West wants us to recognize Kosovo, but they don't want to straight out say that is what is blocking our admission. The negotiations are dead in the water as Serbia fulfilled all of it's promises from the Brussels Agreements and the Albanians from Kosovo didn't honor any of theirs, so basically the talks are dead until they honor their part. As for the Prime minister, she mostly does what the President tells her. Why he picked her I couldn't tell you...Maybe because he wanted to score some brownie points in the EU, maybe because he trusts her, or maybe both. The reaction was not that bad, people poked fun but that's as far as it went as far as I can remember.1 point

Either the number of additional attacks is wrong in the Gamedata and it would be easy to change. Or it is a hardcode bug and it would be impossible. In this case, I think the base damages could be raised a bit.1 point

if you're focusing on the martial angle and primarily using wizard as a fast-cast buffer, i think that's fine. but you talk about ranged weapons, and you'd be missing out on some of the barbarian's big strengths by doing so. there's a major action economy constraint on trying to martial and cast at the same time, so i wouldn't expect to fling fireballs around as well as smashing, but using the blood mage to cast stuff like mirror image, arcane veil, ironskin, infuse with vital essence and only occasionally casting slow spells (something like ryngrim's repulsive visage) would be a lot better. if you want to summon weapons, all the wizard summoned staffs and pikes are decent for carnage-ing, though the ultimate synergy is probably willbreaker morningstar (morningstar can debuff enemy fort, barbarian has a passive that lets you target fort if it's lower, and willbreaker will also lower enemy will so you can land stuff like wizard illusions better). edit: maybe thematically you should look at essential phantom spells for wizard - you create a spirit duplicate of yourself (with all your gear). not sure if that fits with an undead slaying theme, but sort of fits in with a general furyshaping theme.1 point

it's the price you pay to get good heals - you have to manage your character's positioning. In RTwP it's just a skill to learn. It might be harder to do it in turn-based where everyone has to wait for their opportunity to move -in such a situation I would try tomake sure my lifegiver goes last in initiative round so everyone has a chance to move close together after an action. as a ranged caster you have to get used to anticipating when you need to heal and running in and casting it and then running back out- Nature's Balm casts very quickly so it's not bad. But you also have Moon's Light (no self-aoe) and Moonwell (large radius, at range). Nature's Balm pretty much just trades off "no range" so that you get "super good heal + fast cast." Pollen Patch (tier 9) has a much larger radius, it's not like Nature's Balm. Even without high intellect you'll probably get everyone in your party without much effort. Only in sprawling fights will positioning be more of an issue. just looking at tier 2 moon's light, you can heal more total health than any other healer in the game for one ability. HoTs scale generously with both might (increase healing per tick) and intellect (total healing altogether). Lifegiver also gets huge +PL, which benefits both per-tick heal and total healing duration. You can layer on different HoTs. Between Moon's Light, Nature's Balm, Moonwell, and lifegiver bonus PL your party is pretty much indestructible the entire duration - with moderate strength and PL scaling you can tick for like 40 health gained every few seconds (and with decent intellect this effective immortality lasts a loooong time). Your main weakness is Arcane Dampener, which suppresses HoTs. But you have so many HoTs that you can just use different-named ones to gain more healing. All the while, you don't lose much offense because you actually get all those good heals for free, so you aren't pigeon-holed into being a dedicated healer, whereas even an Eothas priest has to pick up a bunch of heals manually (and is still less overall effective at it). edit - nature's balm in particular is very good because it also gives you +2 armor, which can mean even more healing by virtue of pushing enemies into severe underpenetration. very useful on upscaling veteran/potd where difficulty scaling means armor is an arms race against the enemy that is hard to win until the late game. yeah, high intellect can help a lot. I generally have 25 intellect on my current druid (19 from character reaction, +1 from item, plus buff with intellect inspiration) and that gives me enough aoe to hit anyone I need to in a typical fight with Nature's Balm.1 point

The question of poor countries is a good one, as as far as I know construction costs for coal plants are still lower, but the question is neither here nor there, because the current issue are developed countries, which share the bulk of energy expenditures in the world, have the resources to move to cleaner energy, but either have dallied and taken their sweet time to get things going or, in the case of the US, have flat out refused to admit there is a problem to be addressed. When goals are set they are also always half measures.1 point

No idea what Sweden is up to these days (@Azdeus would probably know), but my old country used to be all coal powered. My old hometown had a large coal power plant, easily recognizable in the flat coastal terrain with it's huge blocks build for the turbines and a 250m chimney which you could probably see from 30km in the completely flat landscape. Now, this is based on childhood memories (the original powerplant was built in 1965 I think, which had two shorter chimneys, so even before old greybeard here was born), but I could have sworn at some time having gotten the impression that all that coal was shipped by boat from South Africa (just musing out loud because now of the coincidence of sharing this with a South African) It's going to be demolished and torn down now, being decommissioned (first part of it, "block3 " to be shut down in 2022 , as Denmark moves more and more towards renewable energy. https://denmark.dk/innovation-and-design/clean-energy "Clean energy is a Danish passion, and in Denmark 30 percent of all energy used already comes from renewable sources. Wind energy is well-established in Denmark, which long ago decided to put the Danish climate’s constant breezes and blusters to practical use. Now Denmark produces almost twice as much wind energy per capita as the runner-up among industrialised countries in the OECD. But you may be surprised to hear that wind energy isn’t the most widely used renewable energy source in Denmark. First place actually belongs to bioenergy, followed by wind, solar and geothermal energy." Yes, Denmark is a "first world country", but I suppose this works as a proof of concept that it's doable if the will is there. Denmark once produced so much oil they would likely have been accepted by OPEC Edit: The reason I seem to remember it coming from SA was because it was controversial at the time, those guys having something down there called "apartheid", which this young schoolboy here had no clue what was, but it was apparently not the right thing to buy stuff from SA in the 60's and 70's1 point

Coal question is interesting one. Like for example here there are multiple coal powered heath plants even though coal is more expensive than alternatives, and we need to buy coal from other countries which strains our economy. Mentioned cheaper alternatives for coal are domestic and would create new jobs here. Our coal plants are already old and their constant repairs make using coal even more expensive. But regardless of mentioned facts we have lots of politicians in city councils and in parliament who adamantly claim that coal is necessary and do their best to block any attempts to replace coal with domestic energy sources (wood, waste, peat and hydrogen burning plants, deep geothermal plants and nuclear powered heating plants).1 point

I became the same way with fantasy/sci-fi books, except that took me more like 30 years ... because I started when I was maybe eight and couldn't afford to buy very many at a time until much later. Games are becoming the same - although in that case it's that my game tastes re: styles and gameplay haven't changed all that much, but dev./marketing trends have. Edit: also, I think I *am* very picky. Otherwise I wouldn't grow bored so fast regardless.1 point

Wait ... there's a One Punch Man ssn2? It's not on Netflix, darnit. How does one see it? Also, to clarify a tad, it's not that I don't understand that even the most action-y show needs some characterization bits, backstory/lore, dialogues, human interest, confrontations to broaden relationships, or whatever you want to call them. I mean at minimum, that's why I love the Kirk/Spock/McCoy dynamic trio, right. I just prefer them to be brief/intense and not the fundamental or only draw of a show. Breaking Bad over Shameless, for example. Remember you're talking to a spoiled woman-child who can binge-watch/play/read stuff 24/7 almost whenever they feel like it, for the past 15-20 years. It's easy/fast for me to become bored of media/fiction styles, very quickly I've largely stopped watching most k-drama's (except crime or suspense) after only 5-6 years (?) because I've seen so many I can count the plot/chr beats and practically know what's going to come out of their mouths.1 point

What KP said: it *already* takes up a lot of time throughout the series (less so in S, not at all in Sailor Stars of course), it's just that...what's there is not good for a variety of reasons, . Maybe there's mercifully not as much of it as either the manga or Crystal, but still - don't need more of it, just needed what's already there to be better! But like you said, literally everything back then was completely written on the fly with no time to think about how it literally comes across or anything else, so the fact that they at least made it not completely creepy all the time like either Crystal or the manga is...something at least! I very much prefer that they stick together not because of any past memories or lives, but because they actually like and want to be around each other. The whole "you gotta do this because your past life did as well" convention is an utterly lousy one at best, and way less strong than simply showcasing their current lives bonds (sadly, this also doesn't work for Usagi and Mamoru - who cares what happened thousands of years ago, what matters is the present that we've been seeing them 99% the time as). Based on the fact that they never recall memories of their past lives or helpful experiences from them or knowledge of their relationships or what it's like to be an adult (obviously), my assumption is that they're never given them in the anime anyways, which I am perfectly okay with. The idea that this is basically him throwing up his hands in frustration with the garbage he's having to write is pretty funny. Might actually even be true, since as you said, he ended up leaving shortly after! Did I skip that? I probably did. Don't remember it - it's for the best, . I've always been amazed with the 11-minute format for cartoons, actually. The sheer amount of stuff you can pack into like an episode of even like SpongeBob without seeming like it's utter breakneck speed (well, at least for the first couple of seasons, before that show fell off the world's largest cliff) is pretty ludicrous, and shows just how tightly made some of these more time-constrained shows can be - have to be, actually. Writers and storyboarders really have to figure the exact most critical bits to making characters and plots work while discarding the rest. It's a feat.1 point

There is a Sailor Moon version like this that came out in 2014 called Sailor Moon Crystal. It's Sailor Moon completely free of all filler parts. It was panned by critics and fans alike. It's bad with a capital B - and that is before we even get to the atrocious looks of the anime. Ugh. What a dumpster fire. I don't know what you would expect from a super sentai / magical girl crossover shojo anime. And no, the scenes are usually a couple of minutes each. Like this one, where the Minako is looking expectantly gif is from: Also, for everyone else, I just realized that this is I think the only shot we get from Makoto's home in the show. See, her liking plants in SuperS isn't totally out of the blue because it was forgotten to be mentioned in R. I mean... they did forget to talk about it, but Makoto's room sure is full of plants.1 point

Absurdly broken builds aside (i.e. the Shadow Camembert thread I just posted), I do appreciate cheesing a bit the stealth/aggro-deaggro mechanics with Rogue multiclasses, especially Assassin ones. I mostly play Solo PotD Upscaled, which basically means that odds are going to be very much NOT in your favor - unless you're playing optimized power builds, which narrows down options and tends to limit creativity. An Assassin brings very unique abilities and the potential to break up fights easily, which unlocks IMO more classes and builds as Solo PotD viable and most importantly fun, without a huge grind... At the same time, it remains challenging because many higher-level fights cannot be ended without all enemies defeated (e.g. SSS Arena fights) so you still need to get creative. But Assassin/Whatever gives you a lot of flexibility in how you approach your other class and how you solve each encounter. I haven't played it personally, but everybody loves Troubadour/Whatever with Grave Calling to kill your own skeletons and create crazy amounts of enemy-only Chillfogs + have the Grave Calling unique paralyze effect hitting every foe. Special free-for-all variant is Troubadour/Berserker. "To cheese or not to cheese, that is the question" - Tekehu ( who is basically a mix of Kevin Costner in Waterworld and the Naavi's from Avatar).1 point
