Holy crap, Dishonored2 levels are great. It probably has weaker narrative, and gimmickiness of levels do make it less reliable and therefore immersive (I believe that stealth work best in familiar surroundings). That said what good gimmicks those are. Clockwork mansion was already pretty fun, but I just finished the time traveling level, and it's just pure excellence. I think I will also have to do "no power run" of Dishonoreds one of theses days. I feel that our outsider powers are so robust, it's easy to play in a boring in repetitive way. WIth most of powers being off, I found myself digging into mechanics and enviromental interactions, in a way I never done before.3 points

But Zora surely you realize how important it is for the United States to have all the information ? You must agree that their can be no doubt that he profited from his exposure of the NSA's protection of us all, making us less safe and putting hundreds of informants at risk. You can't agree that this is a good thing ! I mean, yeah. It's probably both, an opinion stated as fact that conveniently is slander. I guess when you're too deep in the game you can't even begin to imagine other motivations any longer. I've seen simiar things in the news here about the Gamestop shares. Investors talking about how risky it is to invest in Gamestop now and that the people buying Gamestop stock stand to lose money. They don't even mean that as silly counter-argument against what is happening. They genuinely don't understand that there are large swathes of people who don't care if they lose a hundred bucks on Gamestop stocks, as long as it hurts the fatcats, because in their world view there exist no reasons to invest other than profit.3 points

I hate to say this but had it not been for Kennedy being murdered there’s a good chance the civil rights act doesn’t pass. It was facing a lot of opposition and a good deal of that was from his own party.2 points

Missed your chance to just answer with "No!" and confuse everyone Anyway, been rather hooked on Cyberpunk 2077. I've been saved most egregious bugs it seems (well, unless the game is yet to slap me with some broken quest chain down the line...), and graphical glitches have been very much limited (there were only 3 occasions I can recall: one floating person, 2 parked cars stuck in the ground, and some untextured terrain). Ran into one item glitch which is an invisible item, it doesn't have a picture in the inventory (does have a name though) and no textures, so if I can find a few more of those I can run around nude, while clothed, I guess. Literally unplayable Actual gameplay affecting bugs have mostly been weird UI breakage, the two most obnoxious issues being getting stuck in hacking mode and being unable to fire my weapon when I aim down sights. Both of them only fixable with a reload. The one quest breaking issue I've encountered so far is one of the Cyberpsycho quests that refuses to recognize a non-lethal takedown (it's the Mox one fwiw), possibly breaking the overarching questline. I sure hope all the previous ones registered, but I haven't gone back through my quest log to check how many I've already done... There's a bunch of systems that could use some serious work, driving (I didn't expect Forza Horizon, but come on...) and the UI (the map can be rage inducing if you tend to drag it with the mouse, like I do) being on top of the list for me. I also absolutely hate how double tapping a direction key dodges in that direction (and puts you out of stealth to top it off). I've done that way too often by accident and I couldn't find a way to turn it off. As for the story, the start feels kind of rushed. The "origin story" is really short and does not really give you much time to "get into" that part of your PCs life. After that you barely spend time with the main NPCs before the first big mission (and the actual start of the game), instead most of that timespan is covered by a cinematic montage of what you've been up to in that timespan. That first big mission itself has some very obvious cut content too (spoilers on The Heist mission): It has been uphill after that, but I haven't really touched the main quest past where it branches out in multiple quests. Given the criticism the game has gotten about "having nothing to say" I was pleasantly surprised how often quests touch upon various mental illnesses and how society is still unable to cope with them (and boy, there's quite a lot of reasons to pick up some kind of mental illness in Night City...).2 points

I'm on episode 6, one before your mentioned Makoto episode. Wow, I actually got her name right on the first try for once. For some reason, I always think her name is "Matoko" instead - she's the only one whose name I have trouble with. Minako has consistently had some of my favorite episodes, so it's difficult to envision me not liking it, . As for Adventure Time...it's a very frustrating show. I was put off by the animation style as well, but eventually got used to and started liking it to a degree. The real problem is that the show is so incredibly up and down in terms of enjoyment - there are times where the show is incredible, meaningfully tackling issues of life and being human, having great characters play off each other, interesting overarching plots and character development...and then there are stretches of the show where you could literally skip 10 episodes at a time and only miss either episodes where most or even all of the cast decided just to not show up, episodes where characters act outrageously stupid (and not in a funny way) or out-of-character, with just the worst episode plotlines. I eventually started paying attention to the writers of each episode because there were a few writers who would consistently put out absolute garbage and a few who would consistently put out great stuff and so I better knew what to expect on an episode-to-episode basis, but it was still incredibly frustrating and no way to run what should be a good show.2 points

The card arrived, so the build is now properly functional. Still have to move the old SSDs and optical drive over, but it's effectively done, having slowly accumulated these parts since October. God, modern video cards dwarf absolutely everything. Makes this full-sized ATX board look like microATX, and the case interior looks tiny. All including the RGB is completely irrelevant though, because... Yes it's staying in the dining room for now while I install Windows, make sure everything works correctly, and transfer the old bits.2 points

I doubt you'd get Carter; the democratic candidates who had the most success in the primaries of 1976 weren't national politicians (Brown, Wallace and Carter), which in itself suggests the party was looking for something not connected with national politics as a reaction to Nixon. You'd probably get RFK's VP vs Reagan in 1976 (assuming RFK got two terms).1 point

71 hours into Troubleshooter I now have a full team of 8 characters. I think there are two more to hire from the FreeLC. I have tamed two pets and built one robo-drone. I could now either push the main story or just farm the various missions for materials and beasts to tame. And materials. Loads of materials. The jrpg farming has opened up and beckons suggestively. I mean if I get my hands on a Pure High Quality Oil Sac, I could craft that bangle to complete the Lightning Nigoori set and seriously boost Scion's damage output. Until he is high enough level to use the Draki stuff, which I expect will have an even bettererer set. And all I need to craft a Pure High Quality Oil Sac is 10 Big Oil Sac. Which I can make out of 10 Oil Sacs each. Ok, I don't have any of those either, but I should have 3 Small Oil Sacs left and I only need 7 more to make a standard sized Oil Sac. So if I get 997 more I should be set... I do like that in proper Anime/Manage/jRPG fashion, all the baddies and npcs etc have their story arcs. I understand to an extent the criticism from some reviews that the enemies felt samsie to them - is there truly a difference between an Angry Bull hoodlum with a machine gun and a White Tiger gangster with a machine gun, other than the colour of their outfit? Is there a difference between a Spoonist and a Smuggler? Other than the obvious yes, level, quality of equipment, passive abilities? Obviously. The Spoonist will share his bowl of rice with his brothers of the [Spoon]. He will welcome you to his humble table and share that bowl with you. He'll offer you the [spoon] and a chance to come along on the quest for the [coordinates] and the promise of Paradise. Spoonism will welcome all of you. OK, maybe not if you are White Tiger gang. I mean, who'd really want to welcome those guys? Especially after Starlight Junction. I mean there are limits even to divine forgiveness.1 point

Well there was a real good shot he was going to be reelected. He had pretty good popularity going into the 1964 election. How well his second term went would depend a lot on congressional outcomes as well as the size of his victory. But it wasn’t a gimme. It’s conceivable he could’ve lost. What effect that might’ve had it’s hard to say. If he came out of the 64 election with a big win it’s most likely he could’ve weathered any of the storms that blew up after the Apollo one fire. to tell you the truth I think the assassination of Robert Kennedy was probably more significant in terms of its impact on the future. The Democratic Party back then was separating into two very different groups. The Kennedy wing on one side and the McGovern wing on the other. Without RFK McGovern became the standard bearer. The Democrat party lurched to the left and it was a move the country was not ready to follow. That led to Nixon being elected and to tell you the truth probably led to Reagan being elected 12 years later. If RFK survives and wins in 68 it’s conceivable Nixon never becomes president. If that’s the case Ford would never have become president. If Ford never runs Reagan never has his opportunity which stemmed largely from primary challenges to Ford. The assassination of Robert Kennedy set a lot of things into motion that are still happening to this day.1 point

That double tap dodge resulted in my failing Sinnerman, as my bumping into the convict was seen as an attack and the cop then opened fire on me. CDPR will some day learn how to make a proper UI, for sure. Dragging myself to the end of Secret Files 3, switching characters seems pretty contrived at this part, but I'd heard the ending was rushed (maybe they ran out of money or time?)1 point

On to better things, GD! My daughter had me take her to an Asian market called H Mart this weekend. It is a strange amalgamation of American Supermarkets and a Chinese street market. It was also the most crowded place I have been since Covid started, and so I was a bit uncomfortable. Still, the Korean pickled rice bowl I picked up was delicious.1 point

Speaking about Adventure Time (was already typing this post, so... don't want to fiddle a quote in up here) I see. That does sound more frustrating than fun (incidentially the same thing as Sailor Moon SuperS, stupid fourth season, really). More random Sailor Moon SuperS musings and observations: Still having a hard time believing this is from the same staff that made S. I mean, except the executive producer, but the replacement was already a producer on R and S, I think, so that can't be it either. With no other recourse I blame executive meddling on this one, completely without proof. Also, Mako-Chan blabble time! Yay. edit: Now that I read this, I think my love for this episode might also be based no small amount on projection and identification. Make of that what you will.1 point

Especially in the first five or six seasons. Some of the "childish" episodes are really not good and feel like they were written by aliens (when in fact, it was just hack fraud writers who didn't even have the memory to remember some of their main characters' most important traits, including some that directly contradict what you, the hack fraud writer, are trying to do with them!). Never have I gone through a show where on an episode to episode basis I could go "man, this show is great, very excited for the next episode!" to "dear lord, why am I even watching this, will I have constitution and willpower to sit through another episode?". @majestic It should be noted that what was considered to be one of the best story writers (and certainly the best songwriter) on Adventure Time, Rebecca Sugar, went on to make Steven Universe, which is my all-time favorite show (and actually, in retrospect, shares a lot of similarities with Sailor Moon, especially in terms of how it handles its character interactions...and no surprise, apparently she was a Sailor Moon turbo-nerd growing up). That's one I can recommend, albeit with the caveat that it takes getting to about the halfway mark of the first season to get its footing (and for the titular character to mature a bit). It's also a show that's a lot easier to watch now that it's finished due to its frustrating and extremely troubled development and schedule.1 point

Adventure Time struggles with keeping a balance between being a kids show and doing any meaningful stories. It mostly does this by either doing a serious episode or doing a childish episode with no real substance.1 point

Snowden was in Hong Kong when his stuff was released, and the US stopped his passport- almost certainly as a calculated move- while he was transiting Moscow; that and him being allowed to stay in Russia are about the sum total of the 'evidence' he had any collusion at all with any international parties. Depending on who it was it was opinion stated as fact, or deliberate slander.1 point

Today I finished my wardrobe cupboard I was talking about a few days earlier: It's made from plywood (18mm birch), primer and paint (Farrow & Ball: De Nimes). The knobs are knurled controls from an old stereo. It's on castors because behind it (in the wall) is the ugly heating circuit distributor for the underfloor heating system.1 point

The writer for Troubleshooter must have had a great laugh writing Irene. They also must have had some very annoying experiences with RPGs that give you dialogue options that all lead to the same result anyway.1 point

The Hero Irene would probably react this way: A man who disapproves of identifying a villain? 1) Also a villain. 2) Must be another villain. 3) So there are two villains? 4) Definitely a villain.1 point

I’ve had a lot of fun with a melee Ghost Heart / Ascendant build (even though this multiclass combination is more commonly played ranged with Frostseeker.) It can be crazy from a number crunching perspective as well, reaching Accuracy peaks of 192 (!!) with 18 Pen when using an estoc. Devoted / Ascendant, which I’m playing now, sacrifices some Accuracy in exchange for slightly better speed and 20 Pen with estocs. Next up will be Streetfighter / Ascendant, which should be the fastest of the three, with the highest damage numbers (Accuracy similar to Devoted / Ascendant; same Pen as Ghost Heart / Ascendant) One of the perks of playing a Cipher yourself is that you don’t need to take Ydwin or Serafen for the ride in order to do Ancestor’s Memory / SoT shenanigans (which I do in every playthrough without fail.)1 point
