  1. Here is a link to a google doc that lists (almost) every build after 09 May 2019. Builds listed follow two criteria: 1. It had commentary after 09 May 2019. 2. It is mostly plug and play. These boards are a veritable treasure trove of Deadfire knowledge, but most people won't bother reading any of it. Builds listed must be mostly playable after less a minute of reading. If it follows these two rules, the build is listed. Little to no curation has been done on my part. https://docs.google.com/document/d/10yKVvE3jHyu9uHso-dAtwV7jrL7K3jdBP3pxVgH1gpM/edit?usp=sharing I've been a lurker here for many years. Thanks to everyone asking questions and answering!

  2. This one is kind of funny. The Democrat governor goes off half-cоcked -if you're willing to grant him the benefit of doubt- and Trump is quick to pick it up and repeat it. And to no one's surprise, they turn out to be either mistaken or lying. Jail records show most arrested in Minneapolis riots have Minnesota addresses More than 80% of people booked into Minneapolis jails over the past 2 days are from Minnesota

  4. A general comment on work hours.. Maybe I'm not "most people", but as someone who spent 30 years of his life working 60+ hour work weeks, I think I'm qualified to reflect a bit on whether it was worth it or not. With the benefit of hindsight, I doubt it. Sure, it ended up paying well, gave some truly unique and interesting experiences (traveling around the world, twice, in the literal sense of the word, winning Microsoft best of world wide awards, getting invited to private Oscar parties, all memorable stuff), but was it worth paying 30 years of my life for? No social life, no time for friends etc.? Nah. If I could chose over, I might have chosen differently. 40 hours is a good compromise between overworking yourself and not working at all. edit: the last 5 years, I've worked "reduced time" (40 hours) and for the first time in living memory actually started enjoying life, getting home int he evenings and having weekends off to do stuff of my own choosing.

  5. Ouch, my attempt of implementing the principles I had in mind has resulted in a total failure this week-end. Might be due to my own errors, or simply that the code behind the gamedata files isn't robust enough. I'm probably going to take a break about modding until my holidays, second half of June. I'm a bit pissed off now I might consider using a more radical approach (also more simple, and with less side-effects) : simply make Brilliant never regenerated spells above Tier III. This would make it a bit less good for casters (but still enough IMHO), but Chanter Tier IX "His Heart did Fill..." would then have a more distinctive purpose. I'll keep anyway the idea above for Tactician Dilemma, which is similar enough to Streetfighter to be guaranteed to work... eventually

  6. At the moment scientists should be raising questions about any published study involving covid-19 since none of them will have been rigorously peer reviewed and most will be using non ideal to somewhat shonky methodology due to being rushed, not being independently selected datasets/ not being able to take all confounding factors into account. Having said that, they're certainly not the only study to have found higher mortality from HCQ, just the biggest and most recent.

  7. 2020 is... a bit of a strange year. "The scheme of the world powers is to cause disunity in order to keep all societies under control. The killing of #GeorgeFloyd was deeply disturbing & upsetting & is the result of the current world order which we all must unite against. "Pull the trigger kill a [black person] he's a hero""-- Mahmoud Ahmedinejad Complete with Tupac quote. I think someone needs to reboot the matrix.

  8. What's this thread is and what to post here: your video game recordings/streams other people's good recordings/streams (to note, do not lie about this please) Honest self promotion (maybe?) Please, only one post per day per user, fine? Please, says something about video you're posting. Now, is this dev approved? (I might get a super quick warning) Recording of Kynseed, it's actually second video, but first video is already posted in screenshot threads and this one is longer, shows more stuff and so on. It's no commentary video.

  9. As a player who have not finished the game yet, I am wondering. How can players know the best way they want to use Adra Ban or other limited gems for upgrading gears without Google ? Players have no way to know if they will find any new better gears they like, and replace them with the currently used ones. Players have no way to know if those gears will require which gemstone for upgrading. Players have no way to know how many limited gemstones are there in this game. These constraints result in either : Players use those gemstones ineffectively. By the time they discover any new gear they like, they might not have any material left for upgrading. Players save up those materials until the very end of game, so that they are certain about the gears they want to spend these materials on. This is also ineffective because there will not be much content left to use those upgraded gears on. I find that the only way to use these materials wisely is Googling everything in advance, which is not the right way to play the game in my opinion. What are your opinions though ? Do you agree with my arguments ?

  10. Age of Wonders: Planetfall has a new expansion. It adds a new race, the Shakarn. The lizard aliens have an Infiltrator who can copy enemy units, becoming that unit for the duration. In one battle my Infiltrator copied a Heritor Drained. Drained have an ability Mind Possession, which allows them to enter and take control of other units. And the Infiltrator copied the Drained, he also got this ability. Which he used on the Drained, possessing it. Now I no longer have an Infiltrator. Looking forward though to possess some cool unit.

  11. Why not both? (The 'review' is a serious one; for the price and acknowledging that my expectations were not high (and I obviously haven't played it much it is a new release) it has been a decently pleasant surprise)

  12. Heavy confusion. Base building and ship customizetion sounds like post release free pach perks, so the 3d artist do not get bored. For TOW2 i would rather focus on aspect which was working fine and enhance them like: The combat is actually fun, so just more guns mods, maybe pimp power of companions super attacks. Add mid game moddable Infinity Gaunlet for out hero so we can use Jedi Powers on our enemies. Every game is better if you can shoot lighting or push enemies off the cliff. more planets with versalite habitat, like ice planet, lava level, cloud city, water planet(under and above) more enemies types and designed boss fights. more memorable big monsters/robots. more companions to catch them all with loyality quests and fun interaction. keep going with ranks in organization and unlocking benefit for sideing with one or another. There could be something like collecting troophies so you can make your ship interior pretier but it also could be post release Since our ship is our home developing base is redutant. Since moding ship will have no purpose it will be a waste of resources, other than "you need to do 4 planets to collect enought cash to pimp your ride and proceed with plot" (if old sheme works do not change it ) Or... The Groundbreaker ve been destroyed! Only You can help to rebuild it by collecting resources and refugees to unlock shops and questgivers, and make Pavarti happy by all night drinking. That is some plot device.

  14. OK, I use this as a shameless promotion Full playthrough of final mission of Final Fantasy Type-0. Obvious spoilers in there So do not watch if planning to finish this one day Unfortunately the full ending is not present, due to the game being streamed from PS4, and SE decided to hide few of the scenes

  15. They can't This is probably the worst part of the enchant system in Deadfire. There's basically no indication in-game just how valuable Adra Ban is - it doesn't help that random scroll recipes also use up Adra Ban, so it doesn't seem like a finite ingredient, but for all intents and purposes it is. I definitely squandered the enchants (and scrolls) of my first couple runs just because I had no sense of how valuable certain materials are. Too bad this is extremely tedious to do. Also doesn't work if you're on an Eothas challenge. lolololol yep. Pyrite is another material that I have squandered in the past. It doesn't help that Pyrite is also subject to RNG drops from more normal enemies and chests (whereas Adra Ban RNG drops are pretty rare so it's pretty much a fixed commodity), so I didn't fully appreciate how valuable Pyrite was until a run with minor bad luck and no drops. It also doesn't help that you can't "skip over" upgrades. You could have all the materials to do a Superb, Legendary or Mythic upgrade, but if you don't have 2-4x or however many Pyrites to do a silly normal->Fine and/or a Fine->Exceptional upgrade (and/or Exceptional->Superb for the leg/mythic cases), you're stuck.

  17. Right. I've read a few things floating around that happened to come not from published studies but preprints even. I think there's a risk that this recent tendency to expect from scientists definite and quick answers will damage trust on science -- even without help from dishonest "scientists".

  20. I got a new toy delivered yesterday: https://americanguncraft.com/product/diablo-break-open-blued-finish-12-gauge-pistol-rosewood-grip/ It's a 12 gauge double barrel pistol. Total length 10". You might be wondering how is that legal? You can't have firearms shipped to your home. And there are laws on shotgun length. Well, it's a muzzleloader black powder weapon. It's not subject to most firearms restrictions. I spent most of the day experimenting with different powder and shot loads. I must say I had a hell of a good time doing it. They recommend a max load of 42gr and 1 oz of shot/projectile. But I found it's sweet spot is 100gr of Hastings Triple 7 powder and 1.2 oz of #4 steel buckshot. With a paper overshot patch you get a really good spread. I set 10 Coors Light cans in a row. Two barrels took every one of them down. The most devastating load though was five dimes in each barrel. $1 destroyed a $6 sheet of 3/4" plywood. I have two blackpowder firearms already. One is almost 200 years old and will, obviously, never be fires. The other I build from a kit. And while it does work fine it's more of a decoration than anything else. But this bad boy is too much fun not to shoot.

  24. 40 hours a week should be considered busting your butt. A healthy person should be getting 8 hours of sleep a day, so that leaves you with 16 hours a day. So spending half of your waking hours during a 5-day work week is certainly a significant amount of time and should be enough to have a decent life during the non-work hours. No one said anything about raking in millions. You should also all be exercising about 90 minutes a day. I don't understand why that is hard. I average about 10 hours a week and people act like that is a big time commitment. It's not, and I get way more benefit out of that then I do my 40-hour work week. But that might be another topic.

  28. What was it someone once said.. "We train our soldiers to kill. Then we give them strict Rules of Engagement, and trust them not to kill potential enemy combatants in the worst of situations when their lives are in danger. The police are trained to protect and serve, but are cheerfully allowed to shoot down their own citizens because it's potentially too dangerous to give them a chance and there's a risk they might get harmed themselves." Yes, that might be paraphrasing it a touch, but it was an interesting point.

  33. Yes. It is wrong. I mean what were you thinking? It's obviously wrong... so so wrong... There are no transgender characters in Deadfire. Did you confuse "bisexual" and "transgender"? There's an early option to tell him that you are not interested. Pick it and he will stop to hit on you immediately and will never try again. Maybe there was too much curiosity on your part so you missed it? Lets do a test: Let's imagine Tekehu was a pretty girl, let's name her Brunhilde. Brunhilde: "Hey ekt0! Are you dating anyone?" etk0: "Uh yes, I'm dating Peggy from accounting." Brunhilde: "Oh too bad - I wish I had met you earlier, tehehe." *wink-wink" Would you imply that this is sexual harassment? If your answer is "no" then you are applying double standards. If your answer is "yes" then I'm asking myself how you want to achieve any sexual intercourse with another person without the help of Tinder... in addition maybe have a talk to somebody who actually got harassed - to put things in proper perpective. PS: I know: don't feed the troll. But I can't help it: I will take every opportunity to post some gifs of The Rock.

  34. The game is the perfect example that players didn't want "lots of text" .... they just wanted good text. I remember very well how we all back in the days were super hyped for "lots of text", because the original Planescape had "lots of text" as well. At least in the Fallout modding community, everyone wanted to make the next Planescape... and of course that meant lots of text (the mods all failed btw). It took me till Numenera to learn that it's really about the quality. I mean, Fallout 1 didn't have that much text either, but it feels great and to the point. Numenera however .... it's so convoluted and ugh. There's so much crap that could be cut and nothing of value would be lost. All these super detailed descriptive texts, etc... just pointless and annoying. After a couple dialogs you will automatically start skimming the text and then just outright skip the lines that aren't marked as essential. Pillars of Eternity did exactly the same mistake, PoE2 made it better... looks like Obsidian learned from it. Other than that, I actually really like the Numenera world and the ideas behind it.
