  1. Princess Mononoke (1997), but in Japanese this time. Hearing stuff like "I was prepared the moment I let my arrow fly" or "it's your fate so you can see with eyes unclouded by hate" sounds way more dumb when you hear it out loud in comparison to when you just read it, so I thoroughly endorse the Japanese version over the English. Having to listen to Jada Pinkett Smith play as an angry Japanese lady was an especially atrocious casting decision by Disney even back when I watched this film the first time. Still not my favorite Ghibli film (in fact, I still can't say that I really particularly like it), but at least it was better.

  2. tl;dr - war will keep going and Ukraine can probably not win back the lost territory, so we should just stop fighting. Then lots of hot air about diplomacy, but no proposals about what exactly should be done except basically "just let russia have what they have now." They conclude that to reach peace, fighting should be ceased right now - which by the way I don't agree, as that just gives russia time again to reorganize... we have seen that in the past, more than once. I get it. War needs to stop, but the way they write it just sounds like "waa-waa, let just have russia take what they want, so we can get back to normal again."

  3. Of the shows that I have watched and enjoyed(-ish), I really like the Sailor Moon, Ranma, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Revolutionary Girl Utena English dubs; The Vision of Escaflowne's is fine as well. In contrast, I'd say that the English dubs for Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, Paranoia Agent, Samurai Champloo, Cardcaptor Sakura, Princess Tutu, and Girls' Last Tour were all between poor and terrible. If I'm forgetting anything in this list, it's either because I forgot them, didn't notice they had an English option, or because I didn't really enjoy the show in question, . The few modern shows I've watched and have checked the English dubs out for have had pretty terrible English dubs - Girls' Last Tour and Madoka, for example. Unlike 90s and earlier stuff, that doesn't seem to be the fault of casting or production values but instead just deliberately atrocious direction. I don't know why they do that, but you can usually tell pretty fast when a bunch of VAs are putting on what are clearly "false" voices that make them sound unnaturally anime-esque.

  5. It's just so utterly despicable when people are so cavalier about other people's land and lives just so they can get back to their own decadent and carefree lives. And in this case even more deplorable as they're trying to portray themselves as supporting "peace."

  8. That's a fair point, but I think the reaction has something to do with the "last straw that breaks the camel's back" phenomenon, in the sense that when injustices or other such things accumulate, the point where folks go "I've had it, this is enough" is sort of arbitrary.

  9. The Waylanders. After replaying a short part of the second-to-final quest, it fortunately got unlocked and I was able to locate the path to the corrupted troops I was to slay. The boss of the quest had very lore-friendly stats, as it was a human, though it also meant a rather short battle, 5 vs 1. Then the game offered an important story decision and it was reflected in the ending slide (there was 1 ending slide in total, thus it was the most important choice for the ending). The final quest consisted of 3 boss battles in a row. The first slightly depended on a side quest (if you complete it, the boss has 10% less HP and is half-transparent), the other two seem to be the same regardless of any dialogue choices (there might be something different depending on another side quest and romance, but I was unable to test it, as I would have to replay most of the game and the above-mentioned companion quest was broken). I replayed it twice and noticed that it was impossible to change the party despite the dialogues saying otherwise (the second time I got stuck only with the PC and the mandatory companion). In general, despite the story being quite broken and linear, the locations and builds very minimalistic, and the game having numerous bugs of varying severity, the Waylanders have some charm and I somehow enjoyed it. It is nowhere close Dragon Age and completely different from Pathfinder (not counting the bugs, though in this aspect, the Waylanders lead, undoubtedly), but it is worth one playthrough (~22 hours) if the player does not mind the bugs (i.e. recommended for £15 or cheaper). On a positive note, I like that there are different body types and they depend on the class of the character. It is really immersion-breaking to see wizards and fighters being equally buff. Edit. A small, yet amusing detail about the first boss:

  10. Custom Game Settings are one of my favorite additions but I think there’s some additional settings that could really help people play the game how they want to play it. I’ve just recently moved from Mild to Medium and I personally strongly disliked how quickly things break. I enjoy the increased difficulty in regards to the bugs and such but the increased durability has been a bit of a downer. I’ve seen the same sentiment echoed quite a bit especially in regards to woah mode. (Where apparently the rate is increased even more) My suggestion is simply to add another custom game setting that allows you to set the rate of degradation for armor and weapons. Maybe based on the difficulty levels (medium difficulty for bugs/combat but with mild level durability damage) I think being able to set the rate of food and water depletion would also be a good idea because while I personally don’t mind it in medium, not everyone wants that but they want the other aspects of higher difficulties like damage. As it is you can turn off these mechanics but I wouldn’t want to turn them off completely. They’re a big part of the game and I want them present I just wish I could tweak them somewhat so I could enjoy the game more. As is I’m not sure I’d ever dare touch Woah mode simply because of the durability rate. I think the more options you provide players (even if it’s in an advanced settings option) the more people can change the game to suit their personal needs and wants. It’s a great thing to have and I’m very grateful for what we have now, I just think there’s even more potential there.

  11. An interesting concept to see added is a dynamic weather system that brings both additional challenges and perhaps special events. Building on this, weather can be broken up into five seperate categories: Sunny (normal), Heat waves (sizzling effect applied to players if not in shade, thirst is increased, dew drops no longer spawn during event, food spoils quicker, stamina is cut by half), Snow storms (coats the land in snow which could be used as a new resource to keep food from spoiling/smoothie ingredients, frosting effect applied to players if not around a heat source or inside base, dew drops and standing water ice over), Thunder showers (aesthetic-only lightning and thunder, rain can function similarly to underwater bubbles- drowning effect is applied inside raindrops, drenched effect is applied to players which causes them to move slower and slightly decreases stamina, flying bugs will not fly, maybe wind can be implemented to cause SLOW gradual damage to exposed base parts- example: 5% damage applied to overall exposed base part per each thundershower event), and Fog (visibility drastically reduced, increased creature spawn rate).

  12. Hi, A feedback here for the difficulty scaling. I think the new scaling is okay, with 1 big exception : going from tier1 to tier2. It's not really a difficulty progress but a difficulty wall, that you probably have to cheese to cross and is probably a nightmare for new players. To go from tier1 to tier2, you'll need stinkbug, bombardier, and ladybug. - Bombardier beetles : There doable with tier1 axe, armor and shield, and some upgrades. - Ladybug : it's an epic boss fight with the tier1 hammer, and the head needed for the axe is rare, so you'll have to kill more than one. - Stinkbug : They're doable with tier1 but only if you have a gas mask... but you need stinkbug parts to build the mask. I don't know if it's me but the rotten gas mask seems to have disappeared from the hedge lab, even if it's still mentioned into the lab log. It was a story option to fight stinkbugs and go from tier1 to tier2. You can get some parts by farming spider eggs, for example the ladybug's head. It's a solution, but not really a rewarding one : it's really random and nothing point to it for a new player. I've done this in a playthrough with the hedge eggs, and it was a chore. My suggestion is to remove the stinkbug's parts from the gas mask components. Make it craftable with only tier1 parts (replace stinkbug parts with algae ?). This way, you can have a crafting/fighting route where you can craft the hammer by killing stinkbugs and bombardier, and then use it to kill the ladybugs for the axe. It'll still be a hard route, but at least one within reasonable reach and a clear path.

  13. While I appreciate that buttons can be remapped, I really believe that Huck as a default should not be universal to anything you carry and on the RB for a controller. Huck should be a contextual function for actual throwable objects, and therefore on RT while holding them. For example, it is frustrating to accidentally huck a weapon or tool you are carrying, to then have to chase it down and find it during a fight, when RB is better served with something like equipping last used item/tool/weapon (which is what I do) so you can quickly switch between say a melee and ranged weapon, or if you are digging with a shovel to a weapon just used. And when you do have a throwable equipped, like a bratwurst, LT drops it but RT does nothing. By reassigning RB by default and enabling RT to function as Huck with a throwable - including the brat/splatburst as outlined above, spears (LT jabs and RT hucks), and grass planks/weed stems (LT drops/stacks, RT hucks), etc. - this greatly improves contextual actions "in the moment" and expands control options for players. Thank you.

  14. I am a gamer that loves to create and build. Grounded has a great building system but it could be even more awesome with some new building pieces I wish we had. -We have horizontal half walls, what about vertical half walls? For any wall type and even for the current horizontal half walls, making them quarter walls. Sometimes I don't want to entirely close off a space but still have some sort of devider. -And sometimes I feel a bit limited with the stairs, or don't feel like having greens stairs in my builds that don't use any grass. Stem stairs and half stairs would be pretty neat to have too. -Let's talk about the stem half wall and let's be honest, it's a great railing but as a wall.. it doesn't blend into the full stem walls for let's say, when you make a tower of specific height. -How cool would it be if we could provide more detail and structure to our bases with horizontal beams, this is mostly an aesthetic request. -Next up, roofs. My castle outpost towers of 1 square look a bit silly with the dome pieces, but other than the flat roof piece, nothing really works for it. So I'd love to see the dome piece but squared. Also the peaked pieces, there's no triangle wall pieces that fill in the gaps that that roof piece has, just a little finishing touch. And my last purely aesthetic request: being able to paint structures like the working bench and the production buildings To whoever reads this, feel free to drop your idea's on this post!

  15. Hey, I provided three different explanations...one of which didn't apply (you know I checked out the English, we talked about it), but that still leaves me possibly just forgetting about it. But I didn't, I just didn't enjoy K-On enough to mention it - had to be a 6/10 or better show, and K-On was a "solid" 5/10, . K-On's English voice direction was pretty bad. Literally has the Sailor Moon VA as the main character, but somehow the direction is off and everyone sounds wrong. At least the Japanese was mostly fine. Sawako, go directly into the dumpster, do not pass go. Just seven more seasons of that, and you'll finally be free, .

  16. I don't really care what language something's if it's good. Madoka Magica's and Steins;Gate's Japanese dubs both made me want to fill my earholes in with cement, while I am a big supporter of NGE's original English dub; contrarily, watching Cardcaptor Sakura in English would merit your execution, and Sailor Moon is good in either. All about direction and how well it's pulled off. In specifically Princess Mononoke's case, I actually like the direction of it for the most part (lot of really good voice cast choices...besides Jada Pinkett Smith), but the writing in that film comes across as sounding so dumb that it's still difficult to listen to in my own tongue at times. If characters weren't constantly saying stupid stuff all the time, it'd probably be fine.

  17. @alanschuafter the 2020 election we mentioned (over and over and over again) how the people cheering the Courts for killing trump campaign frivolous cases would need face the harsh reality that those same "brave" and "heroic" judges and Justices would be antagonistic to liberal notions o' free, fair and open elections. we predicted future voting rights cases were gonna skew heavily in favour o' a state's capacity to place onerous limits on an individual's right to vote. nevertheless, future Court decisions is gonna shock and enrage even so. yet another chapter in our ongoing cassandra play. oh, and for @Guard Dog please be aware that you is trying to have both ways, which is actual ordinary and common. the praying coach J. Gorsuch and conservative media did an excellent job o' selective presenting the fact o' the case. the Court's decision were focusing on the very limited facts involving a small number o' voluntary post-game prayers. the reality o' the coach's behaviour were a bit more complex and is the reason why the libs were concerned-- not just over-protective democrats trying to suppress religious and personal liberties. this Court is promoting a position which has state and local governments needing to not only recognize personal religious freedom but to defer. am personal an ardent defender o' personal liberties, but am nevertheless surprised what courts and SCOTUS is doing to radical change the law o' the land. when brown v. board of education were announced, one o' the Justices literal got off his death bed, left the hospital against doctor strenuous advice and made himself present so a 9-0 decision could be delivered to the nation. Jackson would return to the hospital and die a short time thereafter. the current Court is making similar extreme changes by the slimmest o' majorities and they is doing so with not but a hand wave to the textualism and judicial restraint they advocated for decades. HA! Good Fun!

Anyways I'm trying to figure out if I should grab tickets to see the restoration of Lost Highway at the Museum of Fine Arts or just wait for the digital release.

  23. I would like the HuD only to show your own backpacks location instead of everyone's that died. You can't pick up theirs anyway - so this only adds to visual noise and makes it confusing to know which back pack is yours. There are also people who choose not to pick up their backpacks leaving a permenntant collection of backpacks on your screen in multiplayer.

  27. - More characters / Character customization - Be able to climb (Most important) - Icons on the map screen is too small and not viewer friendly. Have to zoom in and out many times. New Map icon re-design would be cool to distinguish icons more clearly. - HUD - In game mini map - While in game, having to go to the menu screen all the time. Would be great to follow a rotating mini map in game after setting objectives. I'm aware some people like to stop and look at a big map like an Atlas but please have this option to be toggled on and off if applicable. Sometimes while navigating through a full menu I tend to get surprise attacks and have to rush back out of the big menu - RC Car - It would be great to add miniature RC cars as an additional fun activity to do with friends and explore. Building RC Cars from scratch and finding parts will be amazing and rewarding.

  28. DALL-E mini is only just how I got the custom portraits idea, but honestly, using it really wasn't as frustrating as you think. The first grid I posted was from literally my first attempt after I got the idea. Mini's faces could use some work, but just editing a new face on top like I did speeds it up; there's a lot of faces to choose from. Pretty fast and headache free(if you're not picky), which I like. And I'm also surprised! The quality, just how far has this tech come in the past year... I've been watching neural networks rapidly progress since Google DeepDream made the waves 7 years ago. You wanna see something ridiculous? Instead of DALL-E like you said, check out DALL-E 2, the new closed-beta. Just look at some of the AI-generated prompts on the r/dalle2 subreddit (link. also their top posts of all time). The output quality is insane. 'Midjourney' AI is also good (and quicker to get into the closed-beta, I hear). Also could try 'DiscoDiffusion', not closed but requires a gmail plus some set-up work; check the wiki on the same-name subreddit for guides. https://huggingface.co/spaces/dalle-mini/dalle-mini (Here, if anyone wants to try DALL-E mini for portraits or otherwise. Just enter a prompt. Supposedly they're moving to craiyon.com, so the first url might not work for future people)

  29. I was certainly wrong on the leverage part (though they still haven't joined/ been annexed by Russia, so right on that). And on balance of evidence didn't think the Russians would invade, which was also wrong. It was explicitly on balance of evidence though, not stated as an absolute (eg 'unlikely' 'probably' and 'at this time', not 'will not'). Plenty of examples of me saying explicitly that they would not invade earlier though when they only had 100k troops, the shift was due to them having roughly the number I thought they needed for an invasion. Closest I got to an explicit will not later was when they didn't on the 16th. Last clause is definitely a bit lol though- let's be honest, I'd probably done a better job of setting out why Russia did have reasons to invade than Russia herself in the lead up; even if I didn't think they'd do it.

  33. Yeah, what Russia does instead is barges into its sovereign neighbour's territory with imperialistic delusions and scorched earth approach. Thing not exactly on the same level as "hypothetic alleged pressuring of its neighbours into presumed alliance", eh? Sorry, but when I see gross understatements like "Russia is hardly squeaky clean either", it means it's time for the daily reminder of how much Russia sucks compared to the majority of planet Earth.

  34. It'll take practice but you can get there. For aerial refueling as mentioned in my post use a fixed point of reference on the refueling plane while keeping the basket in your peripheral vision and above all keep it _smooth_. Before my first ever one-plug refueling session many KC-135s, KC-130s, and S-3s were shot down in frustration.

  36. several years of deadfire and i only just now learned that a game-month has 20 days. of note - what's your build/apporach? i needed a lot of cushion because the skaen + salvation of time build that so many people did, the way i would very conservatively pre-buff, each fight would be like a half day on its own (that would get me buffed up to like 400-600s on my buffs). if you're using strand of favor clickiness you probably get a lot of time efficiency that i didn't know about/have in my run.

  38. The Waylanders. I've reached the end-game and the main quest has softlocked. I will try it again later from an earlier point. Not counting that "small" issue, it has been quite fun, several (2, to be exact, but one of them twice) previous decisions have been referenced, however insignificant they were. Also another companion quest turned out to be impossible to complete. This time the game kept crashing at one specific point in an unremarkable tunnel. I tried teleporting through the "crash zone", sending the character and switching to another, and turning the camera away while running with the same "Fatal Error!" message at the end. Considering that the exit was on the other part of the corridor, the only way to get out was to reload one of the previous saves. If anyone has any suggestions for the softlock, it would be most welcome. Judging by the Steam achievements, I am 2 quests away from the ending. Stopping now would be most disappointing (unless the ending shown in the video is the best and truest one).
