  2. I'm using his balance polishing mod which has a foe only damage AOE. Only deals 12-20 damage (40%), so even in conjunction with my SC beckoner's Animated Weapons, it's not too amazing unless you're actually fighting vessels and spirits. Compare it with Spark the Souls of the Righteous.

  3. is the wiki wrong? lidless gaze is listed at 6s, which would put it at a lower duration than embrace, same with gaze of the adragan. even if you have tons of easy ways to nerf dorudugan's will and make it easy to roll a crit, a +25% multiplier would still yield a base duration that's less than embrace the earth talon (the bonus illusion PL might help bump it up). petrification has a substantial base duration (12s) which would make it easier to start off the fight at a level where you can start extending it with frostfall. the ugly math: dorudugan at 25 resolve is a -45% duration penalty, which turns into a -.8182 duration modifier (inversion math). if you have 25 intellect, say (18 base + inspiration + some items), you have a .75 duration modifier. you're left with a net -.0682, which translates into a -6.4% duration penalty. let's assume that it's easy to get +5 PL for petrification, and you can still cobble +11 PL for lidless gaze. petrification hit => 12 * .936 (net duration penalty) * 1.25 (PL) => 14.04s lidless hit => 6 * .936 (net duration penalty) * 1.55 (PL) => 8.7s lidless crit => 6 * .936 * 1.55 * 1.25 => 10.9s +20% off 10s seems pretty tight margin for error and attacks, but maybe it's doable with enough save scumming to make everything works out. (you'd have to save-scum any other approach with the frostfall angle as well anyway since you probably wouldn't be getting the full suite of your debuffs going) edit: in case anyone wanted a clear illustration of resolve's increasing returns and why arkemy'rs wondrous torment is so important: at 25 resolve, that -.8182 duration modifier can essentially be explained as saying "you need +81.82% in total buffs to duration just to get to your effect's normal base duration". Approximately doable, with reasonably high intellect. at 35 resolve, the -75% duration multiplier turns into a whopping -3.00 duration modifier. You need +300% in total buffs just to get back to your normal base duration! Even with completely maxed out intellect, you're still left with a substantial negative penalty, at which point all the multipliers from PL and crits are trying to boost an extremely small remaining duration and not getting you very far.

  4. Good question! I used it on a SC Trickster that was ready to experiment. Testing is tedious... but I only ever saw the following effects occur in 30mn or so: Illusive Spell: Miasma of Dull Mindedness, Dazzling Lights, Repulsive Visage, Curse of Blackened Sight Shrouded Strike: Stunned, Disoriented, Weakened, Dazed, Frightened, Immobilized, Charmed So I would think that Illusive Spell uses a specific list of lower tier spells. Shrouded Strike can probably give all afflictions. Anyway I don't think that unique spells like Crushing Doom, Shadowflame etc. would proc. Interestingly, sometimes Illusive Spell double procs! (i.e. I think it procs off itself or something like that)

  5. Why We Are Leaving Fox News "Over the past five years, some of Fox’s top opinion hosts amplified the false claims and bizarre narratives of Donald Trump or offered up their own in his service. In this sense, the release of Patriot Purge wasn’t an isolated incident, it was merely the most egregious example of a longstanding trend. Patriot Purge creates an alternative history of January 6, contradicted not just by common sense, not just by the testimony and on-the-record statements of many participants, but by the reporting of the news division of Fox News itself. " HA! Good Fun!

  7. Yeah it's an amazing buffer versus fire. It's also why I love having Tekehu chant Aefyllath Ues Mith Fyr: it lets you use Crushing Wave recklessly. Also suggest eating Shark Fin Soup/Captain's Banquet as the Oracle's Wall of Many Colors is highly dangerous.

  8. Hi everyone, Not trying to bring this thread back to life, but I finally got a chance to play a fair bit around the modded Screaming Souls ability that @Elric Galad so graciously put together. i.e. Screaming Souls working "as intended" or at least, as described. Not surprisingly I did a solo Beckoner/Psion focused around Ancient Brittle Bones and the über Screaming Souls, with additional synergy with e.g. Many Lives, The Empty Soul and other Cipher passives, Helm of the White Void, the occasional Grave Calling bonanza... My findings are as follows: 1) It is extremely satisfying when you manage to pull off the perfect combo of basically 6 + 12 (+1) skeletons absolutely exploding the battlefield through a crazy chain reaction. I'm talking about 100+ attack rolls in one cast, with very large AoE size and humongous total Raw damage. You could think it is totally broken but... 2) You will often commit suicide in the process, so there's a bit of balance. It's hard to not completely wreck yourself or bystanders because the AoE can be somewhat unpredictable. Sure, you can mitigate the risk with sky-high Will (which you'll have), wearing Voidward, having a pet with +health on kill, maybe using the Great Escape Cape/Leaping Boots for last second mobility... But you're competing against your sky-high Accuracy even with only a few hits you might not survive the Choir of the Undead. But hey, when you pull it off... hundreds and hundreds of raw damage*. And it gets even better when enemies are Vessels themselves! In conclusion: if you want to bring a bit of versatility to your Troubadour/Psion or whatever, this mod is fun. Screaming Souls working "as intended" is OP, but it is so dangerous that I find it relatively balanced in a way. Worth a try IMHO! *I'm being intentionally vague on the actual damage potential because the combat log goes totally bonkers . but it's a lot! PS: don't try it in a party with a SC Cipher having Shared Nightmare. Guaranteed suicide.

  9. Bryan has been charged, and is on trial with the McMichaels. He tried to get a plea deal but it was rejected. Most people I know have little sympathy for the 'citizen's arrest' defense since they apparently never declared they were making a citizen's arrest when they tried to stop Aubrey nor did they actually witness a crime to which declaring a citizen's request would make sense. That the elder McMichael was an ex-police officer who'd worked for the district attorney, there's a general feeling that (a) he should have known better than to chase after him in a half-assed vigilante manner and the (b) the old boy system tried to protect him and his son by squashing the initial investigation. But not being on the jury and hearing the evidence an arguments, its hard to say what actually will happen.

  10. Had an early Thanksgiving dinner with my oldest brother and his wife. A great amount of food was had (roasted chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes, rolls, dressing, baked slices of potato, sweet potato, butternut squash, acorn squash, cauliflower, broccolli, carrots, corn-on-the-cob, and finally dressing). Dessert was pavlova, which I'd never had before and was quite good.

  14. add enough qualifiers and anything is true, and am not sure if "drastic" is appropriate. nwn weren't s'posed to have a narrative, not full game narrative at least. the lizard queen stuff was not part o' the original plan. were other issues, but nwn story, as a whole, had significant hurdles and is justifiably criticized. use as measuring stick is curious. fallout nv is a project josh admitted he were more removed from narrative. while he were project lead, he admitted that he were far more involved in the mechanics o' the game than the story, with the exception o' ceaser's legion, which predictable were forgettable and reminded us o' dealing with yxunomei in iwd for good reason. that is what set honest hearts apart as josh took lead on story. am not gonna once again get into criticisms o' honest hearts. in fact, honest hearts is likely your best predictor for what pentiment is gonna play like given how josh were the genuine driving force behind story and deign o' that dlc. personally we do not find such to be reassuring. HA! Good Fun!

  15. That's what you get for watching from the couch. MOTOR BOAT IN A BATHTUB. I was going to compare him to Nolan, in that both make big budget blockbusters that aim for being more profound/thought provoking than your average action flick but fail (for me at least) at doing so. Maybe it's the curse of the big budget only producing kid movies and boring action stuff. Arrival and one of his early films are really good though.

  17. I haven't tested but I could, sometime later. My bet is that it will work as if a 100+ shred spells triggered the additional Raw damage and duration extension of Death of a 1,000 cuts (then upgraded to Death of a 100,000 cuts).

  20. yeah i don't remember this old thread, but i think it's very party dependent. in some parties i can just brute force the oracle down real fast and take care of the adds later, but in other parties there's no way i can survive the onslaught of adds as they rush onward. that being said, just to add some clarification for posterity: the oracle and adds will actually want to attack polyps if left alone (discovered this in my ultimate run where i do a lot of hiding). leave polyps alone. they will add fluid to the chamber and make and more of it a slog zone, which is extremely annoying for your mobility (except for tekehu and any coral aumaua). the arcane whatevers will stun the oracle for a few seconds if destroyed. in some parties I have found it worthwhile to take them out one lantern at a time, because even for a few seconds it's nice to get a break from the oracle's perpetual beaming. also as some tech for future players - the more I use moonwell the more Hawt Tech it is. The fact that it protects you against a fire attack is aces. Stock up on scrolls (there's a decent number in FS alone) and use them a lot in the fight - they'll protect you from delayed fireballs, on top of giving you healing.

  21. The advice in this thread was generally not good for my party. What you learn from playing MMO's is you have to take care of the adds first. But hey, the people posting in this thread must know what they are doing, so we'll focus on the Oracle. I didn't have success until I let Eder tank the Oracle, then focused on killing the dynamic entities and the adds with the rest of the party. It seems like if you destroy the dynamic entities there will be fewer adds, and if you try to ignore the adds they will annihilate your party and you won't have a chance. It doesn't take too many delayed fireballs and such to really make a real mess, especially if you are using a close formation to take advantage of healing benefits. Because of all the AOE's and the charm and domination attacks I had more success when I spread the party out.

  22. I usually play with community patch and the balance polishing mod. In my opinion the BPM is a fitting expansion of the community patch, giving some of the basically never-used talents and abilities more value and hence providing additional builds and strategies without making anything overpowered or too easy. As an option it also includes some minor nerfes that further bring subclasses/abilities on par. Although it takes a "freer" approach in modding things than the community patch, many potential adjustments are also discussed in the according thread.

  23. William Bryan is alleged to have participated in the events leading up to the shooting (specifically, he joined chase/rundown that the McMichaels initiated although he didn't know why they were chasing Aubrey and allegedly hit Aubrey with his truck as a part of that chase); during the actual shooting he was recording the incident on his phone.

  24. I found another way to paralyse Dorudugan but with targetting will. He has 167 (152+15 PodT) Will that can be reduced to : -25 club modal, -8 keeper of the flame aroma, -10 ngati's tusk ... 124 -10 ben fidel's neck, -40 miasma or arkemyr's wondrous torment ... 74 -15/-30 Boeroer's willbreaker retentless ... 59/44 The Eye of Wael Lidless Gaze petrify for an equal duration to Embrace the earth talon, target will and benefice from +15acc to weapon legendary upgrade, and The hundred Visions PL boost (illusion), your acc buffs but not from The empty Soul (cipher). Duration depend of your Int and PL stack. And from crit, "overriding" the 25 resolve of the iron giant. It could be more easy to extend, doesnt? For the Willbraeker debuff :

  28. Yeah, I prefer spoiler tags that simply blank out the text until you mouse over them a la Steam. ...Plus, that seems like it'd probably cause less problems than basically having a collapsing quote box like it currently is, given the forum's issues with...that. It's...difficult to envision myself ever enjoying Nanoha. I mean, I know I'm the one that prognosticated it actually being alright, but I meant for other more general viewers - i.e. not me. To me, it looks like the kind of show where they took Sailor Moon, got rid of all the things I really liked, and amped up most of the things I either was ambivalent about or outright disliked. Combine that with the style of the show (in a multitude of ways) being not even remotely close to appealing, and eh... I think there's a much better chance I enjoy K-On than Nanoha, .

  29. Binged the final six episodes. What else can I say that I haven't posted about. There's a certain amount of fanservice, the final episodes have some more of that really bad CGI as the Cradle of the Holy King is CGI whenever it is moving around. The story came to a close wihout any major asspulls which is fairly surprising, but it's not nearly as complicated as it at first seemed. A couple of things seemed rushed and could have usde an episode or two of setup. There was nothing indicating that Vivio would or could I kind of wish we could spoiler sentences without these huge spoiler tags, but hey, one needs to be happy that the forum software is working at all. Nanoha does blast Quattro with a yuuuuuuuuuge laz0r beam, but sadly that turned out to be non-lethal. That girl's not right in the head. That's what you get for being a cheap knockoff of a character that killed the great Eudial. Anyway, this season would mostly work without watching Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha or Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's first, but it does help understand where some of the characters' personality traits come from. StrikerS is, however, a huge step up in quality over the first two. It's less melancholic, aging up the girls finally gives a little sense to their otherwise overexaggerated maturity, the characters are better defined and the storyline is better written too. It does make a few mistakes here and there. It never fully commits to whatever relationship Fate and Nanoha have - or don't have. Other than them living together and sort of adopting Vivio - which is a lot to work with, though - there's never anything that would fully confirm that Nanoha isn't blushing around Yuuno out of interest. Yuuno certainly is interested, he said as much in a throwaway line about being happy to spend more time with Nanoha. That's a bit of a missed chance, all in all. The antagonists this season are different from the ones in the first season and A's by virtue of being closer to actual villains. Contrasted with the first season that has a mother trying to revive her lost daugther and a group of warrior mages trying to find a way to help their paralyzed mistress that's a step down. Still, I'd give this a recommendation. The 26 episodes of StrikerS are a good mix of action, character moments, slower parts and decent pacing throughout. Never a boring episode, not one that is a waste of time and just one that dumps a bit too much exposition on the viewer, and for something that's essetially a "serious" magical girl anime with a strong sci-fi bent there's plenty of times when reckless shounen nonsense isn't just commented on, but shown to be dangerous. I've stated it a hundred times, but one last shall it be: This doesn't have any comedic elements. There's a laugh here and there, but don't expect something fun. This is serious business. If you ever wondered how a Sailor Moon serious mode storyline would go when it's better written but less well animated, here's your chance. The final fight, when everyone starts using their "limit breaker" spells, it comes back to being a bit of a JRPG. It's a nice mechanic, in games, building up to a special move, really, but in an anime it's a bit silly to wait instead of just finishing your opponent in one blast, but even so, that's a bit of a throwback to 80ies action anime. Or Power Rangers - or any other show that features a similar way of combat. I'll say this once more, if you want to give all of it a run, take care with the fifth episode of the first season. Skip the part in the bath's changing room to protect your sanity, or the entire episode, it's bad and you won't miss much. It still does have a copious amount of nudity, most of which can be explained away by genre convetions.

  31. it might be very hard to get a net gain on the petrify, right? +20% on the debuff after accounting for attack speed, you'd need to make sure the petrify on dorudugan has ~10s left at minimum. but it seems doable, as an alternate strat. edit: if you have two wizards and are willing to save scum a bit, one does the arkemyr's wondrous torment, then the other follows up with an empowered petrification, if that lands with a hit you might have enough starting duration on that petrify to get a net gain of time with each death from frostfall (you'd still need a lot of accuracy to put yourself in any appreciable hit range against fortitude without doing the whole morningstar/whatever bit), so long as you are able to kill a skeleton with each attack. then you don't have to worry about refreshing anything else.

  33. This guy has very high armor. You don't have enough penetration (see the "No Pen." message in the combat log in the lower right of the screen). That's because you attack the Titan with slashing or piercing weapons (like the hunting bow, guns, sabres, swords and so on). As you can see it has 11 armor against most things and even 13 vs. pierce damage. In the combat log it is shown that you tried to deliver slash damage (your hunting bow does pierce or slash damage depending what armor is lower - in this case slash armor at 11). Given your low level I assume that you are far from reaching 11 penetration with your hunting bow. I assume your whole party is using either pierce or slash damage. Underpenetration means a severe damage malus. Making sure you penetrate enemies' armor is one of the most important things to do in Deadfire. THat's why switching weapons according to the enemy is important - and to pick some abilities that may raise penetration (for example Fighter's Penetrating Strike) or lower enemies' armor (for example Wizard's Expose Vulnerabilities). As you can see the Titan has only 7 armor vs. crush damage. So the easiest way to beat him is to attack with crushing weapons. Instead of pierce or slash weapons use weapons that do crush damage. It doesn't even matter if the crushing weapons have lower quality or whatever - underpenetration is so severe that it's much better to attack with a weak crushing weapon that can penetrate than with a good pierce weapons that cannot. Ohter alternatives are shock damage and corrode/acid damage. For example Serafen could have Antipathetic echo (corrode), Aloth could use some shocking spell like Crackling Bolt or something. Also there's a hunting bow in Port Maje (you can buy it) named Essence Interrupter which is very good and does shock damage. What always works: ablities/spells that do raw damage (see some Ciphers spells vor example) - raw damage just ignores all armor.

  34. Exactly. Two advantages: accurate aoe aiming (can't retarget in Turn Based) and can't be interrupted Frankly, I never really noticed my spells rolling over to the next round with any regularity. I mean it maybe happened a few times, but definately not often. And my Dex wasn't even particularly good. Perhaps you get interrupted too much or a similar effect is happening to delay your action? My experience is quite opposite to the OPs. Turn Based mode is paradise for wizards (and other casters too, to a lesser degree - wizards rule due to all the Free Action buffs they get). When you only get 1 action every round, a huge aoe spell with large impact will have WAY better action economy then 1 sword swing... Even better if you're a Spellblade and only exit Stealth once your spell resolves (while enjoying +25 Accuracy, +4 Pen, +50% Crit damage)...
