  1. In case you wanted a minimally cheesy way to get rid of dorudugan (without the balance patch), I recommend chaining together a bunch of petrifies of sufficient level. I stumbled on this unintentionally with my disruptor theurge because it was the first time I was combining helm of the the white wind with a chanter and a druid, and I did it again without that specific build, though I definitely did the math beforehand to make sure it would work again. I still think the theurge is the most self-contained way to do it, but you can do this with a combination of: a wizard that can cast arkemyr's wondrous torment with high base intellect and weyc's wand a druid that can cast Embrace of the Earth Talon OR a wizard that can cast petrification, with high base intellect a priest that can cast Salvation of Time (* combined with the below, only main bit of cheese here) weyc's robe club modal morningstar modal a bunch of other accuracy bonuses for your petrifier (esp against vessels), or penalties to fortitude, some combination of your petrifier being the mainchar and becoming rymrgand's champion and destroying all the souls in SSS (up to +6) helm of the white wind (easy +10) multiclassing with a ranger for hunter's claw, marked prey, and stalker's link (ez, but pretty strict on what your character needs to be) multiclassing with a monk for dance with death, which gets you up to +15 necklace of the bones (+5) devotions for the faithful (+10, plus a -8 to enemy fort if you land the debuff) PL bonuses (e.g. prestige, potion of ascendance, lance of the midwood stag + woodskin/form of hte delemgan, weyc's wand) boras (+5 to spells) obsidian black wurm pet (+3 when flanked) remember that there's an optoinal berath's blessing that lets eder equip a pet for doubling up on both boras and the obsidian black wurm ngati's tusk (hunter of hunters can give you up to ~10 debuff against fortitude) gloves of accuracy edit: long nights chant can apply weakened (resisted down to sickened) for -10 debuff plus an additional -4 from the stat penalty edit: this isn’t a comprehensive list, just what comes to mind easily depending on what you have, your build can be more or less strict - on PotD dorudugan has 180 fortitude. you can pretty easily bring that down to 155 with just a morningstar modal and ngati's tusk (-35). a level 20 character with 10 perception will start off with 77 accuracy, so you need to find a way to close the gap of 103 accuracy, so you can have a net advantage against dorodugan's fortitude of +24, which means you'll never miss. Might sound like a tall order, but based on the list above there's quite a bit of flexibility to how to hit that goal (e.g. one successful casting of devotions will swing the accuracy-defense number by 18, (you get +10 acc, dorudugan gets -8 fort); the spell you use will itself have some innate accuracy bonus; etc). here's an example from my most recent attempt: (sorry it's in german) in this particular situation, i ended up with a net +31. I overshot the +24 requirement because I honestly kept making mistakes in this run (e.g. i forgot to become rymrgand's champion) so I ended up pulling together some extra bouses in case my math was wrong or made some other mistakes. translating into english and explaining the math, my accuracy buffs were: +24 from 34 perception (maxed orlan and white wends to start for 21, +1 from the alchemist's hut, +1 from a cloak, +1 from a ring, +2 from sleeping with aenalys, +3 from svef, +5 from intuitive from least unstable coil [important that it's from an item, so it stacks with svef]) +8 from embrace the earth talon's ability level (petrification would have +16 *) +11 from power levels (+5 from SC level 20 druid and prestige [petrification would only get +1 from prestige *], +2 from lance of the midwood stag, +2 from potion of ascendancy, +1 from spellshaping the spell smaller, +1 from weyc's robe brilliant [important from an item, so it stacks with potion of ascendancy]) +3 from gloves of accuracy +10 from helm of the white wind +5 from boras +3 from changeling's mantel armor random pet aura (this was actually pure luck and wasn't planned on, but you could theoretically save-scum this bonus if you're relying on it) +4 from sweet aroma aura from keeper of the flame +10 from devotions of the faithful +5 from necklace of bones dorudugan gets -25 from morningstar dorudugan gets -8.8 from ngati's tusk aura (i did this suboptimally, you should be able to get to 9 or 10) dorudugan gets -10 from ben fidel's neck invocation dorudugan also gets a "hidden" -8 because their might is reduced by 4 from devotions TL;DR game plan I mentioned this in another thread, but a wizard with wecy's wand, empowering arkemyr's wondrous torment is guaranteed to at least graze, which will tank dorudugan's resolve down to 25, at which point even a normal casting of arkemyr's wondrous torment will easily last for 30 seconds. combine with club modal, dorudugan's will defense is pretty much shot, which makes refreshing arkemyr's wondrous torment easy, as well as making it easy to add on other will-targeting debuffs if you need to. getting down to 25 resolve makes all the difference. it means your morningstar and club modals stop lasting for only a couple of seconds even on high intellect characters. it also means that embrace the earth talon and petrification, on a decently high intellect+power scaling character, will last 12+ seconds, which also means that even on a graze you'll still petrify dorudugan long enough to cast another after brilliant gives you another resource. with key players having brilliant from weyc's robe plus salvation of time, you can petrify-lock dorudugan all the way to his death and you can completely bypass all the annoying fireball/fire explosion dodging. just need to pay attention to refresh arkemyr's wondrous torment before it runs out (most important!) as well as any other debuffs you have going on. Why "Embrace the Earth Talon" or "Petrification?" Both have higher base durations than Gaze of the Adragan, which matters quite a bit for competing against Dorudugan's resolve, even when its hit with wondrous torment. You could probably cobble enough bonus PL with like an illusionist and some items, but then you start making it hard to cobble together the bonus accuracy you need to actually land it past dorudugan's fortitude defenses. I weakly prefer the druid for their embrace the earth talon here, because it actually does damage (helps speed things along) and more importantly you get two casts from the start which can help cushion the early rocky start as you get things going and your resource regen still needs to get everything back to 100%. plus, if you only have a single wizard who's responsible for wondrous torment AND petrification might easily be missing out on a cast of petrification because of resource regen being random. * petrification being at higher level also has an advantage in that it has a higher innate accuracy then a comparable embrace the earth talon. you get +2 acc per ability level, and only +1 per power level, so all things being equal you'd rather a level 20 wizard casting petrification than a level 20 druid casting embrace in terms of affecting the net accuracy balance. Why do this at all? There are plenty of other far easier, far cheesier ways to get dorudugan, but I like this because while it certainly is cheesy, it feels like you still have to work for it a bit (getting all the items and coordinating the chaining debuffs) and is satisfying as a result, versus just hammering Dorudugan down with axe modal and blade cascade, or attritioning it out with gouging strike's endless DoT. Plus, outside of dorudugan, you can do this against most bosses in the game (very few enemies in my memory are actually immune to dexterity afflictions, they tend to just be resistant) without needing as many accuracy bonuses, so it can serve as a decent strategy across your entire run if you feel like slightly cheesing out a harder boss encounter.

  2. nevertheless is a valid point. as stated previously, while am knowing the law, the facts o' the case and the case itself interested us not at all. unfortunate, looking further into facts does not improve our opinion o' kyle. "Black said they discussed knowing it was illegal, but agreed Rittenhouse wouldn't get the gun himself until he turned 18. They shot a couple hundred rounds that week, Black testified, and that was the only time Rittenhouse had used the weapon until Aug. 25, 2020." https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/11/02/kyle-rittenhouse-trial-dominick-black-first-witness/6258860001/ so when kyle retrieved the ar-15 from the black residence, he likely believed he were breaking the law and the reason he were acquiring the rifle were not to protect his father but to confront protesters who might be damaging personal property: cars. kyle's judgment is even more suspect knowing what we learned 'cause we bothered to check eye-roll inducing facts. as we keep repeating, far too many conservatives is pretending as if legal = righteous. this became a binary us v. them issue all too quick and so those defenders o' kyle cannot accept that legal exoneration don't make kyle anything less than a punk who willing engaged in reckless behaviour which all too predictable ended bad. there should be universal condemnation o' kyle's behavior, 'cause is no good argument for defending rittenhouse behaviour. even if you believe rittenhouse shoulda' been found not guilty o' murder, is no way to defend his behaviour as anything other than wrong. can be wrong or bad and nevertheless not deserve to go to prison. 'course is also worth noting the charges 'gainst black is still valid, which makes the judge ruling on the weapon possession issue all the more baffling. is illegal, unquestionable illegal, to buy an ar-15 for a seventeen-year-old, but judge says is perfect legal for a minor to own such a weapon. however, am gonna also observe how more than a few liberals is not learning from this anymore than similar incidents from the past + half decade. the ps from the above is the relevant portion. the extremist right groups is organized. individually the proud boys and similar folks is, with few exceptions, morons. organization makes 'em more effective than the educated dorks running around in black outfits and claiming to be fighting fascism. the rittenhouse verdict is not some kinda new thing or a signal to militia they may confront protesters. *snort* people have not been paying attention to the extremist play book for at least the past six years. this is why our military not need geniuses to be effective. disorganization may protect a group from government censure, but it also makes far more difficult to achieve goals. on the other hand, organization and training effective replace and is frequent superior to native intelligence. too many liberals is gonna read news stories 'bout the rittenhouse verdict which align with their own beliefs and feel justified in being outraged. explain as white privilege or just another example o' a broken justice system. those folks will post something on facebook or retweet a story they believe is insightful, then go back to watching "grownish," or whatever. what happened with the rittenhouse verdict, as we keep saying, should not have been a surprise. if you got multiple armed people in an inherently tense situation and somebody ends up getting shot and killed, then expect that w/o compelling evidence to the contrary, self defense is gonna be an option. we got a well armed society and as such situations such as were prevalent in kenosha during the protests is gonna result in reasonable people being afraid... or at least believable afraid enough to exceed burden for criminal prosecution, a burden which is the not insignificant beyond a reasonable doubt. am not concerned proud boys is gonna change their tactics based on rittenhouse, 'cause the proud boys has been doing as rittenhouse (and worse) for at least 6 years. you'all realize the proud boys want armed conflict, yes? they has been showing up to protests armed and hoping for confrontation for years. should be more concerned that disorganized protesters don't learn from the situation and in light o' rittenhouse more o' them decide they too should be armed to protect selves... 'cause is no way that leads to more corpses, right? HA! Good Fun!

  5. it might be very hard to get a net gain on the petrify, right? +20% on the debuff after accounting for attack speed, you'd need to make sure the petrify on dorudugan has ~10s left at minimum. but it seems doable, as an alternate strat. edit: if you have two wizards and are willing to save scum a bit, one does the arkemyr's wondrous torment, then the other follows up with an empowered petrification, if that lands with a hit you might have enough starting duration on that petrify to get a net gain of time with each death from frostfall (you'd still need a lot of accuracy to put yourself in any appreciable hit range against fortitude without doing the whole morningstar/whatever bit), so long as you are able to kill a skeleton with each attack. then you don't have to worry about refreshing anything else.

  6. Do you think with a chanter's skeketons and Frostball you can perma paralyze Dorudugan? I made a topic on it but is pretty useless in most of fight, but here? This is the link Edit :

  7. It works like a petrify. It's essentially a tier 4 DEX affliction that gets reduced to tier 3 (paralyze) by DEX resistance. It has no effect against DEX-affliction immune enemies. Afaik no megaboss is immune to DEX afflictions though, only resistant.

  10. Kind of agree and kind of not, maybe they designed them in that way to not cover all the character desing, but I think as well some armors should cover more, acorn armor for example covers enough but then better sets cover less, like black ant armour... Lady bug is nice as well but then antlion armor, well the set bonus is useful but it looks like a T1/2 armor . For a survival game where you see that "kids" got miniaturized on the garden you expect they will cover all their body the first moment they see a giant ant or spider, if I learn how to build me an armor on that enviroiment, Im sure I will cover all my body to feel protected, not just the knees and shoulders

  12. I forgot: always flank the enemy if possible. It's giving -10 deflection and -1 armor. It's easy to do, you just have to attack from opposite sides with melee characters or melee summons. There's no immunity to it nor do you actually have to hit to apply the "flanked" status.

  13. In addition, fights will get longer and longer. It might take a bunch of rounds to chip away his health. Positioning matters too. Big guys tend to have AoE attacks so grouping up like that isn't going to help. Pay attention to Defenses as well. He's got a high Fortitude, so don't bother with attacks that target it. Instead hit him where it hurts, Deflection and Will. Also, pay attention to resistances and immunities. Resistances only drop afflictions by 1 tier, so they are sometimes worth casting, but immunities make spells completely useless.

  15. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Episode 20. First time this season stumbles a bit, not counting the bits and pieces of not really necessary fanservice (especially that boob rub). Looks like they ran out of time to explain parts of the storyline organically so there's a bit of an exposition dump by the Doctor when his cadre of cyborgs starts asking questions about what's going on, and the High Council - the disembodied voices: Before that they talk to each other telling each other things they would already know. It's not very long, and doesn't dump too much, but it's kind of odd to see. Anyway, the endgame is here, and everyone had their limiters deacitvated. Guess there's no point in holding back in the face of annihilation. The cyborgs asking questions kind of make sense, a few of them are still children, at least mentally. The other exposition is... yeah. Well, it is what it is. 19 episodes before the first slight trip was pretty good though. I'm honestly surprised at the consistently high quality of this season.

  17. This guy has very high armor. You don't have enough penetration (see the "No Pen." message in the combat log in the lower right of the screen). That's because you attack the Titan with slashing or piercing weapons (like the hunting bow, guns, sabres, swords and so on). As you can see it has 11 armor against most things and even 13 vs. pierce damage. In the combat log it is shown that you tried to deliver slash damage (your hunting bow does pierce or slash damage depending what armor is lower - in this case slash armor at 11). Given your low level I assume that you are far from reaching 11 penetration with your hunting bow. I assume your whole party is using either pierce or slash damage. Underpenetration means a severe damage malus. Making sure you penetrate enemies' armor is one of the most important things to do in Deadfire. THat's why switching weapons according to the enemy is important - and to pick some abilities that may raise penetration (for example Fighter's Penetrating Strike) or lower enemies' armor (for example Wizard's Expose Vulnerabilities). As you can see the Titan has only 7 armor vs. crush damage. So the easiest way to beat him is to attack with crushing weapons. Instead of pierce or slash weapons use weapons that do crush damage. It doesn't even matter if the crushing weapons have lower quality or whatever - underpenetration is so severe that it's much better to attack with a weak crushing weapon that can penetrate than with a good pierce weapons that cannot. Ohter alternatives are shock damage and corrode/acid damage. For example Serafen could have Antipathetic echo (corrode), Aloth could use some shocking spell like Crackling Bolt or something. Also there's a hunting bow in Port Maje (you can buy it) named Essence Interrupter which is very good and does shock damage. What always works: ablities/spells that do raw damage (see some Ciphers spells vor example) - raw damage just ignores all armor.

  20. My wife ordered some traditional Russian plates and my dog ate several of the packing peanuts before we could catch her. That was very weird of her to do since he's never done anything like that before but she's a weird dog so I didn't think too much about it. I was about to take her to the animal hospital when my wife figured out they weren't the normal packing peanuts but some plant based alternative that basically dissolved into nothingness. Crisis averted and it also explained why my dog was trying to eat them in the first place.

  21. you are not paying attention. re read our posts. am not surprised by the verdict and we keep pointing out how once it were apparent guns were possessed by both rittenhouse and the protesters, self defense was likely. if rittenhouse had been the victim, instead o' the killer, the assailant likely woulda' been able to raise self defense in this situation. notice we didn't address your verdict comments and we specific noted that a reason for being in wisconsin were immaterial to the verdict. you aren't getting it. rittenhouse done wrong. he aquired a gun illegal in illinois and took it to wisconsin to protect cars. he were not standing outside his father's home with his ar-15 when the shooting took place. he were on the streets at night most assured not defending his father when the shooting occurred. am most assured not talking 'bout the verdict, 'cause the verdict don't matter when asking whether kyle were a tool bag for taking an ar-15 to wisconsin to confront protesters. why is anybody defending that behaviour? why are you finding excuses? oh, and biden supports a jury verdict-- he supports the system and is asking for calm. he is saying the right things. serious bruce, try and stay focused. HA! Good Fun!
    1 point
  22. what? did he have a reason to be there with a gun he acquired illegally, at night, confronting protesters? you are looking for excuses not to condemn kyle's behaviour. why? having a "reason to be their(sic)" is irrelevant to the jury verdict, but it does speak to whether or not kyle were reckless. HA! Good Fun!

  23. the easier to find target is a single destructible (barrel, sigil, the first encounter in kazuwari arena is the ideal place to get the inspirations back...) if your spell can be single target (e.g. chanter Her Revenge Swept Across the Land, but you need brilliant to have her revenge available out of combat, at least with a multiclass), if you have to use a bigger area spell (I am sure storm of holy fire works, I don't remember about great maelstrom) I guess just pay more attention to not harm alive things around.

  24. TWoT is one of my favorite epic fantasy series. I've read the whole series more times than I care to admit. One thing I knew they wouldn't get right because it's nearly impossible to in a visual medium is how the series is supposed to act as the origin and monomyth for all mythologies and legends.

  25. It's very much the visual style that is derivative of the lotr movies. The plot and appearance of the Two Rivers is actually a lot less LOTResque than the source material. Anyway, WoT ep3- nested spoiler would be pretty big for a non book reader so be warned

  26. Non spoiler WoT TLDR: Ep1 is decidedly meh. Ep2 is far, far better. And I haven't watched Ep3 yet. If there's one problem that looks like it's going to linger it's that the whole thing looks like Great Value LOTR trilogy I don't think there are any serious spoilers, but I'm not going to be too careful about obfuscation so... Ep1: Ep 2: And look at that, I managed to get through it without a single comparison to Game of Thrones. I should win a prize.

  28. Egwene's father is a skinny innkeeper. You are correct, there is a fairly interesting moment in the book later on that is no longer possible in the show. Also Matt is a thief in a small town. Where, like, everyone knows him. So...no idea what they are doing with that character, but I guess it doesn't matter since they will replace him. I don't know. I'm at a loss. The whole show could have used a lot more foreshadowing and a lot less showing. I read an article about how sometimes these shows are helped by a limited budget. They need to rely on your imagination instead of special effects. I get that now.

  29. If you're saying it wasn't good, it must be apocalyptically bad, and for that reason, I am out. ...Isn't the innkeeper supposed to be skinny? Wait, maybe it depends on which innkeeper it is. Maybe the one I'm thinking of is much later, I remember Rand and...Perrin or Mat having a run-in with a not so great skinny innkeeper...never trust a skinny innkeeper, I recall.

  32. I suppose karma has reared its ugly head my way after my Star Trek comments. I sat down with the whole flippin' family to watch Wheel of Time. I just re-read the first book. I was hoping for a Lord of the Rings feel. Instead I got a teenage soap opera with some silly looking Trollocs. They reminded me of the Kilrathi in the Wind Commander movie. I'm so upset. 25 years of waiting and this is what we get. My family is out and I don't know if I will watch another episode.
