The problem is that you're suggesting that BLM, and not for the first time, be something that it is not. As I've said, there are many groups dedicated to gang violence. 1 and 4. You've gotten feedback on this before from me and a few others and most of the people that you're getting more outrageous feedback from aren't American. 2. This is silly. Heart disease kills more black people than anything else, why aren't BLM talking about that? They're not about black lives after all so what are they really about??? It's like the joke about showing up to a breast cancer march with signs that say all cancers matter. Again, BLM is about a certain set of issues, that's it. Even if they did decide to be about this issue then they'd just get attacked for that as well. Like, if police brutality and racial violence are really issues then why are they now talking about gang violence. 3. What makes you think that nobody is concerned? Because BLM hasn't changed it's goal to combat this issue? Just because the groups that champion this fight aren't in the spotlight doesn't mean they don't exist or that there aren't many of them. There are probably a lot of reasons why gang violence doesn't get the same level of attention. It's not a polarizing issue, nobody is pro gang violence or denies it exists or whatever.5 points

I was in Brownsville for business today. Stopped at the garden store over there to get some stuff for the greenhouse. I brought Sunmy in the store with me because it’s a small hick town and you get to do things like that. Anyway, I would had my hands full. Liquid plant food bag of potting soil was that kind of thing. Get up to the cash register and somebody gestured at Sunny and asked me if she was a service dog. I didn’t realize it but for reasons known only to her she picked up a bag of bird seed and was caring it in her mouth. I laughed and said nope it’s probably more accurate to say it’s the other way around.3 points

A party of 5 chanters. Different flavours and types, if you so desire. At least one beckoner. The beckoner really should be an orlan so his or her skeletons match. Have all of them get the skeleton summoning spell and the skeleton summoning chant. Start a battle. Retreat to safety. Summon skeletons endlessly in safety and send in skeletal sorties to engage your enemies. Maybe send a few spirits, too. Roleplay that you are a death metal band, touring the Deadfire, and spreading musical mayhem wherever you go. Have your undead roadies clear the area of malcontents. A lot of people are probably scratching their heads right now, and that's fine. But trust me, this is cheesier than it sounds. Skeletons make for a surprisingly good boarding party, because most of the pirates have pistols and such. I discovered, quite by accident, that I could start boarding boats pretty much as soon as I left Port Maje. On PotD. After a few cautious attempts, I became the scourge of the seas, bringing death metal to the masses and sending them to suckle from Ondra's icy tit down in the briny depths.3 points

Hm... so I did a little trick: I raised the additional attack's dmg to 9-13 like the initial one's. Then I added a 1.5m pull effect to all the attacks. That means that if you hit an enemy in the 1.5m AoE that enemy will get pulled towards you. I didn't increase the number of additional attacks - because I can't tell the game to only hit an enemy once with them - but instead I let that additonal attack bounce up to 2 times. The bounce distance is 0.5 meter and it bounces in range order (so the intial target ususally doesn't get hit by the bounce again) and you can determine that those bouncing attacks don't hit the same enemy twice. With the pulling and the bouncing I get pretty good results that are in line with the description (most of times): you will hit up to 3 additional targets like the description says, friend or foe. The pulling is a nice side effect for such a weapon I think. Its one echantment only works well if you don't move - so that pulling should be nice. It's just there so that I can get away with very short bounces though. If I don't do that I have to make the bounces a bit longer and then they ofen bounce out of the AoE and into your party or so. I also gave the attacks a slight delay (0.1 secs each) so that they are a bit in line with the whirling animation. Just a visual touch. Before they were all hitting simulaniously which was a bit odd imo. If somebody wants to test: just copy that folder into your override directory. I guess I could raise the pull to 2m just in case an attack bounces from a 1.5m distant enemy to a 2m one. But that's details. Would be cool if this solution worked in most cases and make it a valid weapon (even if only for rel. specilialized builds). I didn't try AoE attacks or Swift Flurry etc. with this new version yet... Edit: did try Swift Flurry/HBD and it's a bit bonkers. Each attack roll from Swift FLurry or HBD leads to 4 new attacks... yeah... Stuff like Heart of Fury isn't too bad. Maybe I can prevent Swift Flurry and HBD from working with the additonal attacks by tagging them as non-melee.3 points

I haven't found yet. I haven't modified item mod description, the automatic description update was enough for my mod. Sure, I was just trying to identify what are favorable vs unfavorable scenarios. Hitting main target + another one was sort of balanced one vs normal Pollaxe. Yes, no contest about that. I'm just thinking about it for now, I haven't made up my opinion. Eventually finalization can go through a round of discussion about number tweaks. But I trust you about the general solution2 points

Not quite, it's like that (with my mod): intial attack: 9-13 dmg slash/crush with 0.75 range at 9 PEN + 1.5m pull effect secondary effect is an AoE of 1.5m which procs the additional attack (an invisible projectile) once to a random target in the AoE. The AoE itself does not pull. It does nothing besides triggering the additional attack. additional attack: 9-13 dmg slash/crush at 9 PEN + 1.5 pull effect, a delay of 0.1 secs, two bounces: bounces happen in order of range (nearest gets the bounce) bounces have no dmg malus, 0.5m reach I could lower the additional attacks' dmg again (or make the bounces lose dmg per bounce or whatever) - and also remove the 1.5m pull of the initial attack in order to remove the wonkyness with Clear Out and other push effects like Forace of Anguish. It looks really yo-yo like and makes not much sense. Maybe there's a more elegant solution like using the mortar-style AoE without scaling (couldn't make that work, always scaled with INT) or something else. This was what I could come up with which somewhat does what the description says - in my first little modding project. Without my mod it's just the initial attack at 9-13 dmg (same values as above otherwise) - and then the 1.5m AoE triggers one additional attack to a random target at 5-9 dmg. That's it. By the way @Elric Galad: where the heck do I find the description text for "Reckless Cyclone"? I find the name of that item mod in the stringtables and I also found the general item description for the bottom - but not the text for the item mods. Where it says "up to +3 targets, friend or foe"...? Edit: Apparently it's only Clear Out that's wonky with the pull/push. With Force of Anguish the push just overrides the pull which is neat. Clear Out's pushing is always wonky with AoE weapons anyway (enemies jittering around like crazy) so maybe I'll just leave it like this. Thinking about giving Whahai Poraga 1.5m reach in order to make the initial attack range fit the AoE size. Doesn't make much sense that the initial attack has to be done from 0.75m range while the additonal work at 1.5m.2 points

I Rosling. Rest in peace. Sweden has never really depended on coal or oil, we had some gas powerplants early on, but we're lucky in that we have pretty good natural resources in the form of water, so early on we built hydropower. Come the 60's we had basically all our power from water, and then people got tired of ruining the rivers and destroying the fishlife and we had protests against further building of hydropower and shifter the focus to Nuclear Power instead, we had some oil as stopgaps and emergency reserves while waiting for nuclear to come online, but come the 80's we had ~45% of our power production from water and ~45% from nuclear, and the rest are from miscellaneous stuff like burning woodchips and trash for heat and power. We've got some coal and oil powerplants that are for emergencies and are rarely used. We have massive problems with moving about electricity from the hydroplants in the north to the south were people live, and we're closing our clean nuclear powerplants, so we export alot of our clean energy and import coal power from Poland instead. In the 80's after Harrisburg there was a referendum about nuclear power with three no options, surprisingly the vote fell on no more nuclear power and after Chernobyl there was a "thought ban" on nuclear power, meaning no plans whatsoever are allowed when it comes to nuclear power including a ban on mining uranium. We've built some windpower farms now, but they're a real small part of our power production still and that is basically were the plans are. Wind and water, all of it. I'm a bit tired right now so there might be some errors in the exact numbers and my despise for our current route is pretty overwhelming, but there it is. We need to get our heads out of our asses and build more nuclear, especially since Swedish Steel production is going to move from fossile to green production come the next decade and eat up basically all the northern water power for their steel production, and nuclear power over it's lifetime is much more clean than even wind and safer aswell.2 points

I looked more deeply into Wahai Poraga's attack game objects and it's pretty weird: First of all the dmg value from the tooltip (9-13 slash/crush) only counts for the initial attack. The additional "AoE" attack is a separate game object and has a base damage of 5-9 slash/crush only (same PEN). 5 - 9 Wahai Poraga does the initial attack and only one of the weak additional ones. Not 3 as the tooltip says. Besides that it's friendly fire as you know - and the AoE is fixed at 1.5m radius. Somebody nerfed that thing into the ground for good. No idea if intended or not. The enchantments are cool. I wonder why they made the additional attacks or the AoE part so different from other AoE weapons. And so darn complicated! It should work like mortars imo: low base damage but (small) AoE. Done. No problems. Anyway, I'm still trying to fix the number of additonal attacks. No luck so far. I can mod like everything of that weapon - but not the number of additional attacks. Why? Still have to find that out... If I can't fix it the easy way (by simply rising the number of additional attacks) I will try to copy the AoE functionality of the blunderbuss mortars and make them fixed size + friendly fire. Screw that weird "up tp 3" nonsense...2 points

Okay so who else uses the relocate mechanic to move mass amounts of building material??? I know I do, I’m currently half way through build a huge structure atop the stone wall near the pond requiring tons of stem and grass, normally I would do the usual thing and fill the holders and my hand and carry them over, but as you know when moving things around you can only walk and it isn’t until you do 10 trips that you know something needs to change, why not let us run while relocating or even a slightly quicker walking speed while doing so??1 point

When I picked it up again on console (where I hadn't played it at all for 4-5 years maybe) I found myself increasing the difficulty constantly, to whatever the game let me do at each stage, when initially going thru story mode. Back at original release it wasn't like that, and was a tad tougher from the get go. They really did lower even the base difficulty drastically, over time, I think in part to allow for their crazy amount of more incremental difficulties (vs. huge jumps) added later. Anyway, most people use whatever difficulty they can manage, since you can change it at any time. Edit: well, in stages periodically at first, I can't recall exactly... @Lexx Personally I think items in most "action-rpg's" of any genre (this includes stuff like Borderlands) have all adopted the same mindset re: bonuses/item stats as well as skills and ofc, "loot explosions", and I largely find it not as long-term satisfying, because even "uniques" often don't feel very special. Even D2 started to go that route by the end of all their expansions/updates. It's all designed for single-chr. endgame concerns, because people want to keep progressing/respeccing forever and ever with the same character or three, so you have to draw it out somehow to keep players playing/coming back and stay ... relevant? ... while you're spending 5+ years developing your next game. Diablo3 at least still has some fun Legendaries/Uniques (and Sets) with fun effects - not necessarily always about uber chr. dps - like the Puzzle Ring or the one that generates a little exploding imp follower periodically. I like stuff like that. Plus you can put the latter on a Follower because it's funny. Plus of course the Seasons rewards if one does like starting from scratch again.1 point

I ordered the roadies to cut down the mightiest tree in the forest... with a herring! And they did. Because they're dumb like that. There's a really good safe space in the little alcove where you exit. If you tuck your party in there, and leave your rogue on the very edge of the battle, you can stay 100% safe with no threat to the party. Then, you send in the lumberjacks armed with herrings... and wait. Maybe fix a cuppa. The skellies tend to do about 1 to 3 damage per poke. Sending in a few summoned spirits helps.1 point

I played a very good (imo) solo Stalker/Bloodmage with a Morning Star (Willbreaker). The idea was that I would lower enemies' Fortitude and Will with the Morning Star and Miasma, my Bear did Takedown Combo on the enemy and my Essential Phantom with Draining Touch weapon could then hit easily (because Drainng Touch targets Will instead of Deflection) for high damage. Rinse and repeat. With WIllbreaker's enchantment that grants 25% miss to graze (awesome) and Gauntlets of Greater Reliability (again 25% miss to graze) and the general high ACC of Ranger/Companion it was always so easy to hit even the toughest bosses (excluding Megabosses, didn't do those). For example I soloed Neriscyrlas on PotD without any resting bonuses or consumables. The two additional sturdy bodies were great, too. My Geomancer went for high AR and not too bad deflection. In combination with the Wizard buffs he was very sturdy. Another fun concept was Stalker/Helwalker with one-handed Stalker's Patience spear in combination with Swift Flurry/Heartbeat Drumming. It has a nice enchantment that removes recovery after a crit (20% chance). With Ranger's high ACC and some crit chains with Swift Flurry etc. the recovery skipping went pretty great. Best against low defense enemies like casters and so on. SC Stalker with Fire in the Hole + Scordeo's Edge using Whirling Strikes (+ Driving Flight) is wild. It's more like a melee/ranged hybrid, but the combo is great because it also allows to use Hunter's Fang etc. with the blunderbuss which gives you plenty of stacks with just one shot (if enough enemies in range).1 point

I will only give my personal opinion : I tend to value the most simple design, even if it changes a bit the initial intention (as long as it keeps the spirit). I have bad experience with combining sub effects, and even if the (hardcoded) programming (behind the gamedata files) works, sometimes the combination of the effects lead to unexpected consequences. And I somewhat distrust pull effects. I would probably have gone for applying secondary hit to every target (including friendly, but excluding wielder and main target) in the 1,5m AoE and would not have bothered with bounces and max number of targets. Damages could be tweaked accordingly. Extending the AoE because of INT (and Shared Nightmare) would lead to something a bit different from original design, but is in line with how WotEP currently works. The AoE is more convenient than WotEP, but friendly fire matters and damages can be tweaked down. Also it would be similar to hand mortars. Something to consider is the ability to all targets special effects such as Gouging Strike with the secondary AoE. Latest minor remark for benchmarking with WotEP : Pollaxes do less damages than Greatsword in general, because of their higher PEN.1 point

Exactly correct. There is no such thing as “green” energy... yet. The same problem exists is solar energy. Solar power creates DC electricity. It’s used to charge batteries that are connected to inverters. Inverters are by their nature inefficient and batteries decline over time. Even the best have 10 year lifespans and are costly to replace and VERY environmentally unfriendly to manufacture. My home solar system I calculated to be 68% efficient, meaning at full sun I am only capturing 68% of the panels theoretical production. The inverter is the big choke point. So even solar isn’t all that “green”. Out of all the available power sources nuclear is the cleanest relative to the capacity it can produce. The one advantage nuclear power has is it can be placed anywhere there is a water source for cooling. Geothermal is only available in places there are no cities to power. Wind and solar cannot be placed just anywhere and capacity is a real problem. At best they can supplement traditional fossil fuel power production1 point

Who knows, I mean, look at this hairdo, there's a little black criminal just waiting to burst out. /racism reference to the BLM discussion in the political thread It's pretty funny, but was also a major disservice to the anime, I'd say. Dub changes can be really interesting, I think we've talked about that before, there are films with Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill that were turned into comedies (they were always supposed to be funny or parodies, but not like that) in the German dubs, and they were hugely popular. There's a fun anecdote where one of the directors once said they had to reshoot a scene with a little stunt several times, and the one time the stunt landed properly the actor involved forgot his lines, and started to cry. Director supposedly asked why, and the actor said: After all these tries, now I forgot what I was supposed to say. And the director just went: "Don't worry, the Germans will fix this in the dub." To explain that a bit, these movies were actually shot without having any given original script and dialogue language. They always featured actors that only spoke either German, Italian, English or Spanish and often couldn't even talk to each other. So they just had stand-in dialogue, even the Italian "originals" were mostly dubbed. I have no idea how the films turned out to be this good, considering what a mess producing them must have been. It's another one of the manga holdovers that should have just been left out. The are suspicious of the newcomers in the manga up until they realize they are fellow Sailor Senshi too (and not of the bad kind). Like everything that happens as story beat in the manga, Sailor Stars carried that with them until the very end. There are two times the writers were able to make up their own storylines - the R and Sailor Stars filler arcs. The R filler arc has a one and a half episode resolution that wasn't bad, but not really anything special either, even though it was - and that is something I remember really clearly - the very thing that really got me into Sailor Moon back when it first aired. Back then I expected that a superhero show, even if it were all girls, would just burn down the tree and be done with it. But no, they just loved it away. In a way, while I really fell in love with the show again, the parts that I thought were the best kind of weren't any more, i.e. Hotaru's arc in S and the filler arc of R. The Stars filler arc was pretty good, yes, and not just because it followed SuperS. It was also written by the same two guys that made most of the final six episodes. It looks like every single season past the first one had the same problem at the end - being tethered to the source material and the writers doing what they possibly could do with it, with middling success. I wonder if there were contractual obligations to fulfill. I can see Toei demanding that every epsiode has a fight scene because studios are sometimes like that, but I don't see why they thought they'd need to stick with the manga storyline framework and try to make it work in every season past the first one. S and Stars deviated relatively much anyway, but the holdovers are still there and drag it down. Or maybe they were just scared of the bad rep because the changes didn't sit so well with Ms. Takeuchi. I think repeating the themes is there because it was, at least, supposed to be a show for kids and (early) teenagers. I'm not sure it was at any point past R, but that's a different topic. Season one's finale is objectively, and that means as objective as you can get, the best. It's the most concise, doesn't suffer from pacing issues, gives everyone something suitably impressive to do - even Ami, I mean, don't get me wrong, her defensive power was often the only reason they managed to get out of problematic situations, but making her do something important on her own that was still completely in character for her was pretty great - and has some much needed and major character development for Usagi. S had the Professor, but his storyline and the actual story ending wasn't part of any character examination or had themes, they were just a backdrop against which the philosophical conflinct between the Outer and the Inner Guardians played out. It made the season much stronger overall, but it left the finale without the same impact that the first or last season had. Sailor Stars feels like they tried to have a big, interesting ending with a much larger thematic exploration than usual, but it didn't work out so well due to pacing issues and the disjointed nature of them teleporting around hither and tither, and everyone dying on their own was in there to make a point about working together, but it felt so... forced and contrived. I really liked the final episode, so I'd agree and put it down as the second best ending of a season. As far as series endings go, this wasn't so bad. KP is right, a nice breather episode and better pacing before would have been good, but can't have everything. As far as crowning moments go, for longer running shows, I'm more than happy with endings that aren't completely terrible. There's no need for them to be the crowning achievement. It's great when it happens, but really rare anyway. SU spoilers: I remember we were talking about making top episode lists after being finished watching Sailor Moon, and then wondering how I would even come up with a top 5 episodes of SuperS. There are three episodes I can come up with that were good, for different reasons, and a few half-decent ones that wouldn't even be on a short list in any other season. There's the dentist episode, which was really fun and found something where Usagi and Chibi-Usa worked together in a non-obnoxious way that very much felt like a season one episode without forgoing characer development or adding inane amounts of fighting over Mamoru or anything else, and Ami's and Rei's power ups. The half decent ones would be either the maturity festival episode or the other power up episode, or maybe one of the first few. They're all not quite there. I know you have some problems with Minako being completely crappy to Makoto (why is it really always Makoto? ), but that could have been a nice episode. SuperS has also some funny episodes that would otherwise not be so bad, but simply being in SuperS made them horrible. Like the episode where the girls are trying to find out who Chibi-Usa's boyfriend is. That would have been much funnier without the albino rhino. That scene where Mamoru and Chibi-Usa are in the restaurant and everyone's creeping ever closer under cover was pretty nice. Kind of like that totally insane shot of everyone hiding behind the waitress with Rei looking for them.1 point

Oh, I know who Bob Ross is and I'm familiar with that show, but what the actual hell was he doing in that anime show...and running away from and shooting up cops? Don't remember hearing about that part of his life, . I guess Ronaldo was right. The fight over subs and dubs indeed seem pointless...although for completely different reasons than when he mentioned it. Subs are just as liable to be as poorly or imprecisely written as dubs are, so just go with whichever one you like better, . Well, unless it pulls a Sailor Moon and just decided to inexplicably censor and/or rewrite characters, plots, and dialogues, I guess...in which case, you of course have to go with that version, . No kidding. They were perfectly fine outside of those circumstances...unfortunately, that's by and large when they most showed up, particularly outside of S. Hm, I'm not too big on any of the finales of the show, to be honest. I think my favorites would be between season 1 and this, though? If I'm not mistaken, I was somewhat mentally checked out with R's and S's endings, and obviously SUPER checked out with SuperS's. Ironically, I think...I think the filler arc of this season had the best finale of any arc? That's probably because the arc overall was pretty short and sweet and felt like it advanced at the proper pace without too much pointless/bad fighting, crying, standing around, over-explanation, repetition, or...other wastes of time that are kind of endemic to Sailor Moon finales, . That's usually my problem with these finales: if you want to get rid of all the fun stuff in exchange of severity and disaster, that's fine, but you're going to have to hit the mark just right. Characters need to not act totally unreasonably/stupidly - this happened in...maybe only the very first season, I think? It seems like somebody(s) is always being an annoying dummy in these finales for added forced conflict, and it unfortunately just never works or feels right to me. It also needs to be kept moving and not keep dwelling on the same points or repeating the same beats (I don't know if any season finales qualify for this - this show likes to drive home its themes and ideas over and over during its important story/finale episodes until you are practically beaten into submission with them, ). It should also have good and understandable character motivations and moments, even if they aren't fun or funny...I THINK seasons 1 and 5 probably best exemplify this trait, which is probably why they'd be my favorites. Suffice to say, the finales of this show have...tended to have SOME individual good points and moments, but they were never the crown jewels - not by far - of their seasons for me. And in the Sailor Stars filler arc, in addition to its other good points unique to it, we actually get to directly see Mamoru get corrupted and be taken away in the way that he was and that was actually pretty compelling and sensible stuff compared to most other Sailor Moon villainy, and Nehellenia herself was a fairly decent villain overall. She didn't seem as completely lazy, silly, or impotent/incompetent compared to most of the rest (ironic after how she was in SuperS, where she was all of those...both in intentional and unintentional ways). She wasn't as fun or wacky as The Professor, but then again, The Professor wasn't the ultimate villain of S, so that's not a fair comparison anyways. It also came directly after the ending of SuperS, which I'm sure helped...and speaking of SuperS, the absolute worst is SuperS, of course - it's literally ALL of the bad things I mentioned, then you throw in the fact that it came at the end of an already not good season and one of the focal characters being, well, You-Know-Who, and yeah, bleh.1 point

Thanks for responding, I appreciate your opinion on topics because I respect your journey and lived experience, even if you dont have that view of me. I have realized years ago that sometimes my views are misunderstood on forums and some people have a strange negative view of what I mean or what defines my ideological views The main reason for this is the fact I am not able to explain my intent as its a forum so people will respond to what I say and obviously I sometimes dont frame things the correct way Also I dont need to fish for support because my opinion on this is not going to change but I am always interested in responses to the question I asked. If I didnt like BLM I would just say it and explain it, its not something that would require such a duplicitous approach So for example your post highlights this misunderstanding, this is actually why I am asking the question about gang on gang violence Its a question that Americans can comment on as you guys live in the country Its gets raised by some Republicans as a way to highlight inconsistencies with BLM outrage I dont know why people arent concerned with the killings of 20 African Americans in gang violence in 1 weekend , its a lot and I would be concerned if it happened in SA Again this type of outcome is something I see in SA so I am interested in what Americans think So the question is still the same, why do you think gang on gang violence does not achieve the same attention? I am well aware the 2 have different reasons for how people respond. And finally I have no idea what most people think on this forum about BLM and gang violence and thats exactly what I want to understand Finally I am building a series of views on these topics and all views matter in my own understanding of certain events So in other words dont see any question I ask as having ulterior motives or being disingenuous , the post is just about different opinions people have and anecdotal opinions help build a comprehensive explanation1 point

Things are already so very good, and can only get even better in the future. Oh, and don't forget the free DLC adding in the sorcerer class that comes right after full release.1 point

Forbidden Fist only gain wounds when negative effects expire and don't get any wounds from damage taken. When Forbidden Curse expires you gain one wound and since the first level of Forbidden Fist costs 0 wounds you can slowly gain wounds this way, but you probably need a better source early game (Dance of Death/Mortification of the Soul). Hylea's Talon is nice because it give a 25% chance of applying a negative effect on yourself for a fairly short duration. If you have high Resolution and or Clarity of Agony the negative effect expires before it can do much damage. Forbidden Fists also gain a small amount of health back when negative effects expire, because of this you actually end up with a decent source of healing (very useful when soloing). A lot of the build idea's I talked about require gear from the DLCs. One of the most OP combos in the game is combining Eder's Armor with Keeper of the Flame. I am not sure you will have enough wounds to constantly spam WoW without DLC Equipment. If you want to solo but only the base game I would recommend Nalpasca. You will have a much easier time most of the game and most of the fights that made me rule out Nalpasca are in the DLCs. Fists are actually great weapons (arguably among the best in the game). I was just taking advantage of some special weapons and using the game mechanics to make some truly OP combos. But honestly you can beat the base game soloing POTD with pretty much any class. Its those pesky Mega Bosses where you need to game the system.1 point
