I have made the very difficult but prudent decision to cancel my Xmas trip to see family and celebrate the best time of the year for me I am doing this to protect older family members from any unintentional exposure to the virus. I feel its the right thing to do but its going to be a lonely and miserable Xmas for me by myself in Cpt Anyway I cannot focus on the negative of my decision as Im doing this to protect people I love and its not about me2 points

I have eaten four entire grapefruits within the last 24 hours. I did this to scientifically test what exactly are the limits of human flesh (specifically the lips and tongue/general mouth area) under a constant deluge of citrus (not great, by the way...not great), and definitely not because I forgot I bought like 8 of them like two weeks ago and want to make sure I eat all of them before they go bad. Here is a build I have been thinking about trying for a solo play through on easy difficulty. The idea behind it is to ultimately abuse Triggered Immunity for tough end game boss fights while remaining a strong, high DPS fighter that just won't die throughout the game (most key items are available at the start of act 2). This goal is accomplished by having a maximum intelligence, minimum constitution and deflection, and lots of passive endurance regeneration. The low CON and RES help triggered immunity "trigger" (and other on-crit items) and the high INT ensures they last as long as possible. Intelligence also helps the duration of many other fighter abilities, which have been improved in recent patches. Most important, constant recovery benefits greatly since the duration was nerfed. Class: fighter Race: human (synergies well with the high intellect and low con) Starting stats STR: 11 - UPDATE: 20 CON: 3 DEX: 18 PER: 18 - UPDATE: 15 INT: 18 RES: 10 - UPDATE: 4 (Alternatively, RES can be raised to around ~10 and PER dropped by the same amount. This helps concentration, but hurts armor, boots, and triggered immunity activation. Also it goes against the "glass cannon" theme of the build. I suggest this only if you do not plan on getting any concentration boosting items) Prioritize buffing STR and INT with items and rest bonuses, as those are most important. I suggest a +STR helmet (WM has a few good ones) and +2 INT armor enchant (For Sanguine Plate) since the other slots hold key items. Late game, consider the +4 INT ring (and a different enchant for Scars armor). More INT late game is important since not all your healing scale with level and you will soon have access to the ultimate fighter ability, triggered immunity, which needs all the INT it can get. Abilities/Talents Constant Recovery (a) Knock Down Two-weapon Fighting Disiplined Barrage (+20 accuracy) Weapon Focus - Noble Vigorous Defense (+20 all defenses) Vulnerable Attack Armored Grace (+20 speed) Rapid Recovery (!) Weapon Specialization - Noble Weapon Mastery - Noble Unbroken (!) Outlander's Frenzy (change out of Sanquine armor now, since it does not stack) Unbending (or sundering blows for dragon killing or Charge for back row caster killing) UPDATE: wound binding (+40% health) (!). Yes, it is a real talent and works in battle. Triggered Immunity (!) Aspirant's Mark (or extra item slots, if soloing) Primary weapons (all three have +speed, obtainable early, and are "noble") Sword of daenysis rapier March Steel dagger Spell tongue rapier UPDATE: late game, you could retrain and use a better late game weapon and double it with wax box. Maybe double "Strike Hard" war hammers or vent picks. Armor: Sanguine Plate (more speed and survival bonus is also nice. Also available pretty early.) UPDATE: late game, switch to: He wears many Scars Other Key items: Shod-in-Faith boots (!) Update: belt of bountiful healing (+15 heal multiplier) OR belt of chimes (+25 concentration) Glittering gauntlets (for the concentration buff, and because it is just powerful in general) cloak of the tireless defender (!) Key skills: 14 survival (for third tier. Heal Multiplier rest bonus). - for this reason, I suggest "colonist" background) Other Strategies: Start with Outlanders Frenzy to lower deflection in order to trigger Sanguine and Shod-in-Faith. After they trigger, use Vigorous Defense. Knockdown and Charge is great for locking down enemy casters, who have low Fort. Using barrage before knockdown can help get a longer prone with a crit.1 point

Hello players! I asked our narrative team to send me their favorite "dumb" line used in the game, and now we want to see which one of these lines you like the most. There is no right or wrong answer, and this is all in fun as everyone who submitted a line knew what I was planning to do, so go ahead and take a gander at the different options. At the end of the poll, I will reveal who submitted that line to you all! On a side note, if you haven't played a "dumb playthrough" yet, I highly recommend it. I'm halfway through my own playthrough, and it's been entertaining to say the least! Thank you, and the poll will end on Wednesday, 1/29, at 3 PM PST. Continue reading for more context on each of the lines listed in the poll above. ----------------------------------------------------- Choice 1: ADA: I am ready and eager to assist. Awaiting your orders, Captain. Inquiries are good, too. Player: What's going to happen if I skip the Hope? ADA: If your calculations are even slightly off, you could crash the entire colony ship into Terra 2. Or the sun. Player: Good thing I'm great at math. I know all the best numbers. ----------------------------------------------------- Choice 2: Player: What? A test? No one told me there was gonna be a test, dammit. I hate tests! Hermit: Yes! That's the spirit! A fellow traveler, one close to the truth themselves! Vicar Max: No, he's/she's not. Just… a bit dim. Player: I don't need to stay here and be insulted. I can be insulted anywhere. ----------------------------------------------------- Choice 3: Huxley: Hello? Hellooooooo? I hear boots out there! Wait, can rapts wear boots? Player: Law help me, it's a talking door. ----------------------------------------------------- Choice 4: Minister Clarke: Slowly and loudly, Aloysius. That's the only way these morons understand anything. I SAID, YOU MAY TELL CHARLES TO GO **** HIMSELF. Player: WHO IS CHARLES AND WHY ARE WE YELLING? ----------------------------------------------------- Choice 5: Player: What's it like being in command around here? Junlei Tennyson: Frustrating. Everything down to the circuitboards is past warranty, so I have the pleasure of making life or death decisions on a shoestring budget. Plus, there's no time to train my successor or document fixes in a way that anyone outside the family would understand. Player: Where's the self-destruct mechanism? Junlei Tennyson: I hope that was a joke, Captain. I really do. ----------------------------------------------------- Choice 6: Parvati: Are you out of your mind? You just- you just killed him. Player: I know, it was great. Parvati: You enjoyed that? Are you some kind of psychopath? I can't- I need to leave. I need to get away from you. Player: Look, I didn't mean to kill the guy. Sometimes I just get confused. Parvati: You can't help yourself, huh? Took a couple knocks to the cranium? I get it. Let's just… let's just move on. I couldn't forgive myself if I let you loose upon the Vale, unsupervised.1 point

I have completed the "explore the depths" task before and was excited to see the progress lost. It was clear to see more has been added to the underwater lab. I am still able to enter through the other doors but the area only goes so far before a locked door or the portion is still flooded. When I went to go back to the main entrance the door was locked. I had gone to the switches to unlock the door where the ui had shown an image to rotate the switch but no key binding to act on it. I am using pc so I used the standard "e" to interact but nothing had happened. The same issue was prevalent for my friend that was playing multiplayer with me on XBox. I proceeded to hit the switch with a spear which I knew it was silly but thought it could have potentially been swapped out for a physics based solution. The most probable cause is that this is a regression error which should be a quick fix. This bug occurred on 12/16/2020.1 point

I was looking for news for a PoE3 and found this speech from 1981 instead: https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/bruce-r-mcconkie/three-pillars-eternity/ "The three pillars of eternity, the three events, preeminent and transcendent above all others, are the creation, the fall, and the atonement. These three are the foundations upon which all things rest. Without any one of them all things would lose their purpose and meaning, and the plans and designs of Deity would come to naught." I think Eothas is aware, so I thought I'd share.1 point

Some people may be interested to know you can tame a stray cat near your apartment. It involves regular cat food you can find anywhere and a trash can at the end of the corridor to the left of your apartment. Don't know what other triggers it may or may not have though. So looked it up some more, there's cat food in Arasaka Industrial Park (involved in the Gimme Danger mission, but always available for "visits") in the basement right next to a radio. The cat is around the middle of the corridor not at the end, there's a message shard in the can and a food bowl next to it. Place food, let time pass, go back.1 point

Reached lvl 8, upgraded the cyber-thingie for your brain, paid off that starter debt ... guess I can do the next main quest. I found a dead body and a yellow ? locked chest at the bottom of an ocean shoreline, but I couldn't do anything with it. I'm guessing I'm not high level enough/far enough in plot or something. So many "requirements" here and there for gear, but that was the first one I found like that (vs. just a gated-off area I mean). I wish the "filler" crime/racketeer ppl (that aren't even committing active crimes at the time) wouldn't become hostile just because you're standing 15 feet away from them for more than 10 seconds. It's kind of ... weird and feels way too forced.1 point

To buy and sell crypto you have to sign up to an exchange. There are several but I use Coinbase. You create a virtual “wallet“. And yes you could use it just like a currency if you were doing business with someplace that accepts bitcoin as payment. Or any other cryptocurrency. There are several. One even has the backing of the US treasury. But you can sell the asset back to the exchange like any other security1 point

That's true for many games. I'm sure if the devs could afford it they would polish their games further until they are nearly flawless. But you can't really justify that (economically I mean) unless it's a subscription- or microtransaction-based model. At some point it's just damaging to the company to pump resources into a game that very few people still play. Same reason for premature releases basically: economic ones. Not that this is great - I wish all games would reach perfect shape or even better: came out in perfect shape. But honestly no (serious) software product ever achieved that afaik. In over 30 years of programming and nearly 20 years of professional software-engineering I can only say that there's always a lot of room for improvement left. The console versions are not an example of walking away - more like an example of not taking a walk in the first place. Both games were advertised as PC-only games and Obsidian insisted multiple times that thay had no plans to bring those games to consoles on their own. So they didn't but simply let other devs do this. Will they still get flak for flaws of the ports? Sure. Are they really responsible? Maybe not. I also don't know how you could handle the situation in a better way: you don't want to do the ports yourself because you have 0 experience with consoles. But your publisher wants to earn some money from console releases and maybe you get some, too - so why not? So now there's a dilemma, right?1 point

One more motorbike pic: Since 1st person (unlike, say, Death Stranding) I'm getting the feeling there aren't any full body combat animations because in Photo Mode it defaults immediately to one of the pre-fab poses, even if you activate it mid-bat swing. So...all you can do is the dozen or two "poses" to represent action. Limiting. Scenic/location and NPC shots are mostly what you're going to get. Oh and ... Jackie continues to grow on me. I mean, look at him, trying to exude casual street charm or...something. He's not bad backup in a fight, either.1 point

I know it's a common defense to let it lie and have a dev walk away from their games, it still seems kind of sad when it's a franchise they own and should support. The console versions are probably the worst example of walking away, but the end state of POE2 even with all the patches still has room for improvement for sure.1 point

I finished Yakuza: Like a Dragon, fantastic game. It's essentially Dragon Quest in the Yakuza universe and as weird as that may sound it works really well. The ending... *deep breath* You want to talk about emotional, holy **** it was intense. Ryu Ga Gotoku sure know how to end a game.1 point

5 seconds. ... I have no idea what pixel count or file size would cause actual browser issues (vs. simply net speed). Probably depends on what this forum software/script can handle. Also: I like the motorbikes a lot more than cars, so far, simply because for some reason they're a lot easier to steer w/a controller. And they look great with overdone lens flare! Just random.1 point

Thought I'd try my hand at another one of these. I call this a 5.0 build because it incorporates a lot of metagaming-related stuff that as a community we only really figured out 5.0 or so. Basic build outline: stats Nature Godlike, 18 might/8 con/15 dex/10 perception/19 + 1 intellect (old vailia)/7 resolve. Hardcore min-maxers can tank con and resolve more to increase dex and perception. Classes: helwalker + magran Level-by-level guide (with free spells in brackets, optional picks with asterisk): Swift Strikes | Restore [Fan of Flames] Lesser Wounds* Interdiction* Dance with Death | Iconic Project [Spiritual Weapon] Long Stride Clarity of Agony* Swift Flurry | Watchful Presence [Ray of Fire] Two Weapon Style* Blade Turning* Duality of Mortality | Scion of Flame [Shining Beacon] Enduring Dance Spell Shaping The Long Pain* | Revive the Fallen [Fire Shield] Champion's Boon Rapid Casting Uncanny Luck | Salvation of Time [Pillar of Holy Fire] Tough Turning Wheel* Accurate Empower | Rain of Holy Fire [Torrent of Flame] Penetrating Empower Gear Weapon slot 1: Magran's Core | Weyc's Wand (soulbound to monk, not priest) Weapon slot 2: Chromoprismatic Staff Other items: Ring of Focused Flame, Sonorous Ring, Least Unstable Coil, Necklace of Power, Vithrack Slippers, Firethrower's Gloves, The Maker's Own Power Pet: Otto Starcat! Possible alternatives - Flame Naga or Nemnok or Ooblit. Misc In the alchemy lab in the top-left corner of the map, boost your might permanently. How the build plays For most of the game this is just a glass cannon nuker that uses Dance with Death's generous up to +15 accuracy, Helwalker's up to +10 might (passive stacking) and up to +10 intellect (active, not stacking), and Priest of Magran's nukes to destroy things. Swift strikes and Nature godlike gives you +1 passive PL, and you accumulate various things that make all your fire (and a few evocation-keyworded) abilities more powerful. Where this build really comes into play is late game, and is why you're not a wizard. Rain of Holy Fire, empowered, plus Weyc's Wand plus Least Unstable Coil = +3 PL (that you extend with Salvation of Time) and almost certainly every single tier 3 inspiration in the game. As far as I can tell, multiclassed wizards can't do this - they need Missile Salvo or Meteor Swarm to pull off the same Least Unstable Coil interaction (there may be another spell that might be able to trigger this interaction that I haven't tested). Priests get salvation of time that they can spam forever if needed thanks to Brilliant, and wizards are limited to a Wall of Draining that has been somewhat nerfed (though there are items you can use to make it consistent, like Jester's Cap). Between Magran's Core, Nature Godlike, Weyc's Wand (again, very important to not soul-bound it to a priest, despite priests getting a unique effect... it's not as good as the default effect), and possibly Otto Starcat and Stone of Power, you get +8 PL to your fire spells, up to +9 PL for Fan of Flames, Ray of Fire, and Torrent of Flame since they are evocation as well. That's an astounding +8 acc, +2 PEN, +40% damage (multiplicative!), +40% duration (multiplicative!). This is on top of any inherent PL scaling you already have, the +75% damage bonus from maxing out might at 35 (18 + 10 helwalker + 5 might inspiration + 1 maker's own power + 1 alchemy lab), +15 accuracy from dance with death, +10 accuracy from ring of focused flame, and a +100% duration bonus from having 30 intellect (20 base + 10 from duality of mortality). Not to mention that compared to a "normal" caster you have an additional +2 PEN on all your spells from either Champion's Boon or a Least Unstable Coil-triggered Energized inspiration. Against fire immune or fire absorbing enemies, you can fall back to be more of a conventional monk using Long Pain to attack safely from a distance and keeping your allies alive with heals. Iconic Projection is a decent heal that happens to also hurt enemies using frost damage, and Watchful Presence effectively gives everyone a death prevention shield with an automatic huge heal (all that PL scaling and might makes for a huge heal instead of death). All the bonus PL you get that is not fire-keyword-limited (from weyc's wand, nature godlike, and necklace of power) will supercharge your monk fists to do tons of damage. Because you have so much intellect, you can probably frequently use spellshaping to shrink your spell aoes for an additional +1 PL with minimal loss in coverage of enemies affected! Possible party members A chanter's old siec chanter will also work with spells cast, making the firedancer able to heal themselves for enormous amounts from spell casts. With shield cracks, a firedancer might be able to get even more damage out due to overpenetration. A paladin with shared flames can buff the firedancer with a +15% fire damage lash on their spells (which means multiplicative, which can also be stretched with salvation of time!). Complement with exalted focus for more damage, though be warned that only the 5% hit to crit will be useful since the +5 will be suppressed by your superior dance with death buff. Possible alternatives If someone discovers a wizard spell at tier 7 or lower that also triggers least unstable coil multiple times, a wizard (especially an evoker or blood mage) could be a viable replacement for the priest half. The only spell I haven't thought to try that might do this is Concelhaut's Crushing Doom. Druids can also do this with good aiming of Twin Stones, Venombloom, and I believe Returning Storm and Relentless Storm. Only problem is that in terms of pure fire damage output I find even a priest can do better than a druid, plus priests (and wizards) have an in-built way of stretching out the duration of Least Unstable Coil and the Weyc's Wand buff. But druids might have a better backup plan against fire immune or fire absorbing enemies compared to an all-in priest of magran. this build is optimized for RTwP, for turn-based mode you'd probalby want to drop dex in favor of perception. Ooblit might be more important so that you hit critical rounding breakpoints to have enough time to wreck as much as you can. edit: early on, when you have fewer spells, i recommend a) resting in the wild mare for +1 spell cast, or bathing in the bathhouse for a similar bonus and b) using quarterstaff, pike, or a ranged weapon so that your dance with death can accumulate you to high accuracy and might in relative safety.1 point

Well, here's an autohotkey script that makes it work well enough using double-click to run (a la Fallout 2): #NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases. SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability. SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory. isRunning = 0 walkToggleKey := "[" #IfWinActive Pillars of Eternity ahk_class UnityWndClass ~LButton:: { if ((A_TimeSincePriorHotkey < 180) && (A_TimeSincePriorHotkey > 0)) { Send {%walkToggleKey%} isRunning = 1 Return } if (isRunning == 1) { Send {%walkToggleKey%} isRunning = 0 } Return } http://www.autohotkey.com/ ... change walkToggleKey to whatever, and turn on walk mode manually just once (otherwise, it'll do the exact opposite -- walk on double-click). It would work slightly better if two more hotkeys existed: WalkMode: On, and a Walk Mode: Off ... but this really does work well enough for me, so I'm happy -- and I could always improve it slightly by using a screen tap if I feel the need. Any chance of adding the option to disable the combat log text upon toggling? Any chance of making this work for Tyranny and the Torment game?1 point
