  2. What now? Those parents have nothing on this bastard witchcraft child of theirs! The Dishonored creations - their music, art, and soundscapes - they simply run circles around them. We're speaking fancy French cuisine here. I no longer live in this world. I've phased into my digital existence as a a seafront apartment owner in Karnaca, reading the morning paper while being frantically scared of over-sized mosquitos.

  4. https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/385 Well, not true New Game Plus... but it lets you start the game at lv20 with all unique items. With level-scaling actually being a thing, I imagine it would be fun to try all the late late-game loot from the DLCs for a whole playthrough! Can be activated in ongoing playthroughs, which I imagine would be convenient for playtesting. "The experience and items will be granted through a script that fires whenever a map, other than the intro sequence, is loaded. To clarify: you won't be granted the experience or items until after you've exited the cabin in the intro scene. The script will only fire once per playthrough, so you can keep it checked in the Mod Manager without issues. However, you might want to deactivate it afterwards, as not to trigger on other playthroughs. You might have to save and quit to main menu once after character creation before the script triggers."

  5. The UK supposedly had a full day of energy production only using renewables (I suspect misreported, actually no fossil fuel usage instead) last year. 100% a gimmick achievement on a low demand day, but they certainly aren't at 90% coal by a long long shot and probably haven't been since the 60s. Nuclear is far more than 3% too, unless something has changed radically in the past few years, though that correctly isn't classed as renewable since it isn't. According to official UK figures they were at ~25% renewable energy in 2016, and are at ~33% as of 2019(pdf, the ~25% comes from the 2016 edition of the same pub). The zero emission future is a myth- though it does have to be pointed out that all claims are for zero net emissions which would involve some use of non renewables. There will be a lot of talk about sequestration and planting trees to balance things out, but the whole thing is impractical unless you don't give an asterisk about economics. The great thing about making long term aspirational goals as a politician is of course that there's zero chance that you will be the one having to fulfill them. Last government here made it a goal to have New Zealand 'predator free' by 2050 which would mean killing every stoat/ weasel/ ferret/ rat (cat/ hedgehog/ etc) in an area greater than the British Isles. Utterly unrealistic, but it sounds good... Natural gas is a lot better environmentally than coal at least. And I'm glad to see at least one article on natural gas that isn't a thinly veiled 'Europe should buy expensive US LNG instead of Russian or ME, please'.

  9. The subtle reality is that it's not truly a lie; the inner workings is that the chant has a 10 second duration, but is overridden by the chant/linger mechanics. This matters for exactly one case that I can think of: the "Many Lives Pass By, Each Leaving Footprints" chant. That chant summons a skeleton, but because it's a summon, can't be affected by the chant/linger override. There it actually does have a summon duration of 10s that is extended by intellect as one would expect. Even with Brisk Recitation on, it doesn't shorten the summon duration (which means troubadours can create a frankly stupid amount of trash summons).

  10. truth be told, there's not really that much of a point having a lot of different spells to cast, even if you had no limits to spell casts per encounter, simply because of the action economy. in any given situation, there's a #1 best spell to cast, then a #2 best spell, then a #3, etc... Mostly what having more spells does is extend how large that list of spells is, and not necessarily increase the quality of your actions. (this is especially true for priests, who are less like a spell-casting toolbox in the way druids and wizard can be; druids and wizard have different damage types, for example, so diversity can increase your spell quality by improving the odds that your #1 best spell is really effective in a given situation.) Typically with priests especially is that I pick up generally at most two spells per tier (and sometimes just one), because combined with the bonus spell, you're already set for spells you want to cast most of the time. In rare situations, I'll pick up another if there's a particular niche that just isn't fulfilled otherwise and is all-or-nothing sort of thing (so even if it's situational and rarely ever the #1 best spell to cast, those situations in which it is useful are extremely impactful, like the various revive effects). Otherwise, even though single-class priests don't have particularly amazing passives, a weak passive that is active all the time is a much better use of finite level-ups than an extraneous spell you pick up and is almost never used.

  11. Blast + Penetrating Blast is very powerful once you use the summoning spell "Kalakoth's Minor Blights". That spell summons a wand which fires projectiles which do area of effect damage. Each hit in the area triggers a Blast (a second area of effect attack) which results in a ton of hit rolls. Combine with Combusting Wounds spell for max effect. Other potentially good talents for a Wizard: Weapon Focus, Marksman (with said Blast), Aspirant's Mark, Dangerous Implement (with said Minor Blights)... Also depends on what the Wizard's role is (like melee damage dealer, spell damage dealer, spell crowd control and so on). For example a melee Wizard also profits from Veteran's Recovery and Arcane Veil (which you took).

  14. Thanks so much for doing that. I mean it. Hopefully it will help all of us in the long run. It's a shame really I was looking forward to the release date for months. I think I pre-ordered the game in 2018 on Amazon. But now I am likely to request a refund from Amazon (quoting technical issues). I hate having to do that but i cant justify paying £50 for a game I can't play. Sad thing is it means the developers might lose money on this title and not necessarily be able to do another one. Cheers again, Fced.

  15. Hiya. I just tried deleting the settings file in saved data on PS4 system but it hasn't fixed the issue. Thanks for the suggestion - any other ideas? I mean why release a game (and charge 50GBP) if it has fatal errors like these?? It is not playable in its current version (surely: system crashes every 15 minutes + constant load screen times + save files corruption = unplayable) It sounds like the kind of checks that should have happened before release. Or is it just me thinking that?

  17. I got asked what animal I'd be in an interview. Blanked on the entirety of fauna both known and speculative when the question was asked. Eventually stumbled upon 'albatross'. Was asked if I picked that because it soared for hours at sea. Answered no, I literally couldn't think of any animals until Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner popped into my head. Probably not the best answer, but it was the truth. Didn't get what I was interviewing for, obviously.

  18. Depends on Spell Tier. On some spell Tier, there's often a spell that can be used for most fight, so you don't really have to select another (Druid's Storms, Devotion for the Faithful, Healing spells). If you're multiclassing with a class that requires a lots of ability points (such a monk), you may want to do this for a few Tiers. For other spell Tier, you might prefer getting complementary spells to face most situation. Also, there might be a couple of situational spells that you want to pick anyway (such as various resurrection). If you're multiclassing with a calss that does not requires a lots of ability points (such a rogue IMHO), you may want to pick a lot of various spells. Ultimately, it is a matter of playlist, but if you plan to pick few spells, be sure to pick spells that are always useful. Priests and Druids subclasses become extremely relevant in this case. For example, Priest of Eotas isn't the best priest subclass in the general case, but it provides a backbone of Healing spells that can save a lots of ability points for multiclasses.

  20. my unpopular opinion would be that there needs to be more RTS and MMO games, and not just MOBA and battle royale, which pop up one by one. Also all FPS seem the same to me idk how can people still play them. I guess I have no more unpopular opinions.

  21. Hadn't played Path of Exile for maybe a couple years. Sheer boredom had me d/l and install it. Lost a few chr. names for being away so long (not the chrs, just the names) so pfft, I deleted them and some other mid-levels. Made a new chr. so I could figure out any changes to the tree and gems etc. before I use the "forced" reallocation of points on a few past high lvl characters. Still addicted to the Scion class, it's flexibility means it's basically the only class I play, outside of a single Witch as a stronger summon build. Don't care about the end-game stuff much (the maps and whatnot) but it's fun to run through the Acts . The first difficulty is so easy now it's almost sad. I found myself oddly missing Diablo 3's current ability to skip difficulties at whim. But otherwise ... since it's been so long, PoE might entertain me for a few weeks again...my current rig maxes settings at rock solid 140fps at 1440, smooth as butter. Haven't tried it in 4k. EDIT: I just tried it. Oddly it's seemingly still gets 120fps in 4k. First game that's done that.

  23. ^ While we're on the topic of Arkane games and unpopular opinions... The 2017 Prey "reboot" is a brilliant game, one I am not afraid to call a masterpiece. It has a unique vision behind itself, an excellent story, a very strong and consistent thematic core that resonates on every layer of the game, and - more than anything else - a truckload of obvious thought and heart put into it. It is a crime that it undersold, and an even bigger crime that the majority seems to have written it off as just another buggy RPG-shooter. It's the kind of fresh and artistic property that everyone seemingly wants, but somehow never manages to gain wider (yet well-deserved) recognition.

  24. With Cleric you mean Priest in this case I presume? Cleric is the name of the multiclass Fighter/Priest. Since spells of the same Power Level compete with each other for spell uses (usually 2 per encounter) and since Priests and Druids don't have trinkets/grimoires I usually only pick one or two spells per Power Level and the rest goes to passives. Except with single class Priests/Druids because there aren't that many useful passives to take then.

  25. edit - this post has been edited to clarify the nature of this bug. For any devs, please do skim this thread, angry posts aside, due to the many examples being given. there are many interactions with afflictions that appear to be just fundamentally broken now, such as counters, suppression, resistance interaction, or weakness interaction. I do provide a dropbox link and output_save for a specific such case in this post. edit 2 - a more complete summary of the rest of this thread i posted on page three, but i'll re-quote here: original post: I thought this was just limited to Suppress Affliction, but it's not. Just now, Tekehu got hit by a debuff (Putrid Blast) that both sickened and immobilized him. That's fine, his AI script is set up to use his shapeshift (which grants dexterity immunity) when he has a dexterity affliction. It dispelled the immobilized. But he still can't move. In fact, when I try to move, the game erroneously claims that the remaining Sickened affliction is the reason why he can't move: Given that I'm also a software engineer, I try to be patient and understanding about bugs that crop up because I know they're a fact of life, but seriously, what the hell is going on that these kinds of regressions are occurring. This is especially alarming given that the game is pretty much approaching end-of-life for support if not with the next patch to bring turn-based mode out of beta, then soon after that. 27. Well...ok yeah that is a big factor in why I don't mind them, it's a nice area of watch the world burn so to speak as no one's dying. I've played games where they really push it but I've not felt like I've missed out on stuff by ignoring it (Division 1 and 2 and GR WIldlands were like this). People go for them that's why they are made, like the whole Early Access nonsense somehow being accepted.

  28. I wish I could like Alpha Protocol, but the times I tried starting a game it just came to an abrupt halt after the first few mini-games. I effing hate most mini games of the pick a lock, hack a circuit (or mass effects tetris games). It was too much of a turn off to keep persisting with the game (QTE's can go to a hot place which is unlikely to freeze over too) (edit: One of the things ME3 did right was to finally ditch the mini games completely, never mind whatever other issues it might have had) (edit2: I don't remember which one of the first two ME's had the tetris game, there was also a really, really, really tedious connect the dots on a circuit board mini game in one of them)

  31. i backed this! there's already increasing little games in the market with RTwP and there are gazillion of folks out there keep chanting "turn-based.. turn-based.." in every single new announced RPG be it baldur's gate 3 or this new pathfinder game. hope everyone who love RTwP may give this a go and back it.

  32. I've been yelling this from the mountain top for years. At this point, however, I'd rather it wasn't Bioware developing it, on account of their recent track record. It doesn't necessarily have to be Jade Empite 2: The Jadening, I just want a good wuxia RPG. And just to add another controversial opinion: If another RTwP RPG was never made, I would lose zero sleep.

  34. Moral gray areas in games are a lie. Trying to give players two equally valid moral sides (NCR vs Caesar's Legion for example. Or Jedi vs Sith) has never worked, as the sides have never been equally valid. It all is a result of ingrained post-WWII propaganda, from when certain governments found themselves needing to make acceptable that they were supporting Nazi collaborators/organizations in various countries.

  36. In one playthrough with Berath's challenge, I've noticed missing crew on Valero's Rest after a disastrous ship fight, but not outside of this challenge. - Rounds are global in order to prevent characters from acting more than once in a round. Buffs are tracked based on start/end of turn, similar to 4th edition D&D. Otherwise, actions will determine whether you execute an ability instantaneously or if you end up rolling into the next round. Sure, it can resemble... FFX delay system, as the cool kids call it. It's more random than that, though. - Initiative is rolled at the end of your turn with a modifier based on your action during your turn. - Low initiative doesn't matter much so feel free to min-max. High initiative is good for interrupting or CCing high priority enemies. - Full and empty diamonds denote action type. A full diamond denotes an action that will take your standard. An empty diamond denotes a casting action, which will consume your initiative (or Action Points) to resolve the action (it will resolve after enough action points have lapsed). You can look at the description of a spell and get a tooltip to pop up for action type. - You can move twice as much if you don't attack. Attacks can be executed as long as conditions are met (a target in range, etc). Some abilities can be used regardless of targets in range, such as many AoEs. - You should know that if you don't move, you suffer fewer penalties on your initiative roll for the next round. Feel free to experiment and abuse this.

  37. @vyvexthorne @melkathi I loved Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, it was my 2016 GotY. The team that made that game is currently working on Desperados 3, which is one of my most anticipated upcoming games.

  38. I got Shadow Tactics through Epic's free holiday game giveaway and it's pretty darn great. I had never heard of it before. One mission can feel like an entire game. A lot of experimenting and reloading. I also got TABS and Bad North through that same holiday giveaway which are pretty fun to mess around with. Nothing I have to heavily concentrate on so good for relaxing or beating boredom. Other than that I'm playing through Pillars of Eternity to make a good save for Poe2. I got a new PC about 8 months ago and I didn't bother transferring game saves. More fun to just make new ones.
