  1. Or simply may get ignored? I guess they are trying to tell you that a male succubus is called an incubus.

  2. I feel like literally a lot of the enemy assets were recycled with minor technical upgrades for Deadfire. And yes, all the PCs look much better in Deadfire - before they were all basically what happens if you crank Red Dead Redemption into potato mode. And I wouldn't spend too much debating @Archaven, it's clear that they're arguing in bad faith. As for them, jesus, just go look at some porn. How can someone be so hard up that they spend so much time analyzing whether or not a spirit known more in fantasy and mythology for dooming people with its wails is adequately sexy or not.

  3. Or maybe just get attacked because of the blatant sexism contained therein? It's one thing to say "I find the women in this game to be more sexually-appealing/attractively-rendered than the ones in its sequel", it's another entirely to say "this female looks like/was made into a male" when she very obviously wasn't, or calling Ydwin trans based on her appearance and assuming a disconnect when her "voice actress voice is beautiful". One doesn't have to be a BLM supporter to decry obvious racism and one certainly doesn't have to be a feminist to see how utterly misogynist some of your remarks are. No, I don't. Here's a random female PC on Pillars: Here's a random female PC on Deadfire: Granted, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but I honestly don't see how the latter isn't more appealing than the former already by virtue of not looking like a low-poly potatohead straight out of the 00s. And I certainly don't see how the latter is any less distinguishably female. But, you do you. Mind that like the others I'm not entirely in disagreement that the lack of sex appeal could've factored into the franchise's declining popularity, but the assumptions you make from game to game - and ffs, the way you express them - are very far off the mark. Personally I think the lack of sexualization in the Eoran setting was already evident in the first game: contrary to how you portray her the banshee *wasn't* an attractive lady in the first game, and even normally "attractive" mythical creatures like their take on the dryads were much more monstrous, what with their skin covered in thick bark and their limbs and hair resembling roots and branches, than other settings' green-skinned naked ladies and whatnot; or the lack of a succubus variant in the setting, or fampyrs not really exploiting the "sexual predator" parallel so prevalent in vampires and so on. In this sense Deadfire is no different, and if anything I'd argue it's a step *towards* a more sexually appealing franchise, what with the models being more detailed and giving clear predominance to traditionally attractive options and so on, and what with companion romance finally being a thing as well. The whole thing for me ties back to the streaming/media issue we spoke about a while back. Much like streaming and gaming channels have become another huge part of game consumption and promotion in the present day, so has fanart and cosplay for example, and it's no secret that the characters that tend to inspire most of these (or at least the most popular and widely-consumed products within these) are either very specific "mascot"-type characters (in Pillars' case, Edér and the space pig had a bit of love in this mold, but likewise other franchises have the likes of Minsc and Boo or Vault Boy) or, indeed, attractive female characters. Even entirely secondary characters like twi'leks in Star Wars can inspire art and cosplay beyond what even the male protagonists of these series have. After all, sex sells. Though much like some of the previous points I've mentioned, much like some decisions can overly alienate the audience or be too niche or in the sake of art, some can also harm the series as an artistic product. I wouldn't want to play a Pillars game that followed a heroic monomyth that's all about beating a big bad behind an army of minions and becoming a god simply because it's what sells, because there's way more interesting things being explored in this setting and games, all in a far more interesting and involving manner. I wouldn't want Pillars to be more like The Witcher or Dragon Age: Origins any more than I'd like Joon-ho Bong to be more like Michael Bay, and in the particular mood and setting they've established with the Pillars universe it would feel plain jarring to introduce overtly sexualized characters, creature types or scenarios all of a sudden. Regardless, all of this sure as hell isn't due to some completely imagined push away from sexual appeal from the first Pillars to Deadfire the way you're assuming above.

  4. I'm not sure how I feel about this update, it's almost made the game worse: _ There are frame rate issues and stuttering now on Xbox One X, where there wasn't before.. Thanks, but perhaps this has introduced those stuttering issues on Xbox One X? This doesn't actually increase the size of any of the fonts that people were having problems reading though.. It is the UI screen with the Character stats, Inventory, Quest Journal etc. that we struggled to read because it has a tiny font size. This doesn't fix that at all. Why nerf weapons in a single player game? You've killed one of the best builds. It was extremely fun to 1-hit enemies on Supernova with a high Science & 2-Handed stats. It wasn't the best weapon of choice, it was Spacer's Choice! ___ I noticed numbers added to dialogue options on Xbox One, like PC. Why was this added? If anything it should be the ABXY buttons like Fallout as very few Xbox players use keyboards. ___ For the time being I have removed the patch and gone back to playing offline on the release day version as these new changes have made the game worse in some aspects of both gameplay and frame rate. Let's hope the next patch fixes things.

  6. This game is outstanding. The formula is simple: start with a story that could easily stand on its own - well-written, engaging, funny, sad, clever and clear - then put that story into a game that's better crafted than every other game of this type published for many years. Drive the narrative with the player's own decisions, and provide a full dose of story for every potentially bizarre choice the player might make. Include beautiful graphics and music, and polish the mechanics until they shine. Once all that's in place, spend what genius you have left on the details. Finally, be sure to coat the whole shebang with a thick layer of just plain showing off. I've just finished my first complete play through. It took about 40 hours, though it is likely to go faster for those with young reflexes, and take longer for players who explore more. There were several side quests I simply skipped because I wanted to see how the main story ended. I suspect that the length will vary greatly depending on the choices you make, and I intend to play again just to see the parts I most certainly missed completely. I admit that a couple of those 40 hours was spent pacing the room trying to reason out some very sticky choices, and never finding a real good justification for any of the possible decisions. Sometimes there just isn't a perfect outcome. Having said all that, the game is not flawless. On my old PC, I experienced one major crashing bug very near the end - requiring an awkward work-around to circumvent - and found that several other people had the same bug happen to them. However, given Obsidian's attention to detail and quality throughout the rest of the game, I would bet money that this will be patched very shortly. Another time, one of my companions fell through a platform. And, once, my companion failed to make the elevator in time. I also spotted two typos. So, not perfect, but a lot closer than any other game of this type Ive seen in the last several years. So, I recommend this game to anyone who likes their stories more complex, and their humor more subtle - though there were times I laughed out loud, and times I (mistakenly) thought the choices were clear. And I especially recommend this to those who, like me, appreciate art that clearly combines skill, dedication, and an obviously deep love for the work. Now, I need sleep. I've missed a few nights. Tomorrow, I'll start again. I just realized that I only picked two pockets! And there's certain business woman who is definitely getting shot MUCH earlier in the game this time!

  9. Lack of formal censorship makes lying worse, not better, since you're lying out of self interest, stupidity, cupidity or base greed rather than because you'd literally be thrown in jail or killed for telling the truth. And in completely unrelated news, amazingly after 9 years or whatever the rape case against Julian Assange is now considered too weak to proceed with. Which coincidentally clears the way for an extradition to the US. Nobody, certainly no credible journalist or media organisation, could have forseen this completely normal and unpredicted procedure (apart from Assange and his tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorising supporters, of course, who'd predicted exactly that for... 9 years).

  13. wait, this is it? is this a joke? a checkbox (not even a slider) for stuff that is mostly voiced anyway? half of the text in the game is still tiny - especially the text that is not voiced and you actually have to read. i am sitting 3 meters away from a 40 inch flatscreen and i still have trouble reading messages, notes, wanted posters, logs, item descriptions, stats etc. without getting my eyes fatigued. by the way, terminal log are not easier to read, only the navigation option are. pretty disappointing considering i waited 2 weeks for this, hoping i could play the outer worlds without my eyes hurting. what a shame, seems to be a pretty amazing game otherwise

  20. Started Narcos. It looks like an XCOM clone at first but has some major differences: 1) Alternate Activations: You activate a unit, the AI activates a unit. You could activate the same unit again or a different one. 2) Counteracts - Real Time Overwatch: Your troops gain counteract points for kills and/or for unused actions. If a unit has a full counteract (you get half a point for unused actions) and an opponent runs into your LoS, you can shoot them in real time by mousing the targeting reticule over them and firing. It does mean you may miss the opportunity because you weren't paying attention, but it also means that if you don't want to waste a shot or wait a bit for the enemy to move completely out of cover, you can. 3) Killshots - Real Time Crits: Crits too are done in real time. You get to shoot again, executing the opponent with a kill shot. A bit gimicky, but it works so far. 4) Rest: Everyone has a rest action, which allows them to restore 1 health. I am a bit skeptical about this; it remains to be seen if/how that slows down the missions.

  21. Yup, Parvati quest still botched. I saved before talking to her and just put the game away until the patch arrived. Now the game is patched, I load it up, talk to her, get the quest and she mysteriously still suddenly dies in mid-conversation in ship interior. So... no change?

  23. so is there going to be an increase to the font size in the menus? because that's still completely impossible to read, and it has made me actually quit playing the game because i literally can't read anything. all the text change did was change the subtitles...which are already voiced.

  26. L0L @ Terminator and Charlie's Angels. HERE'S A HINT TO WOULD BE FILM MAKERS: Focus on making a good entertaining and fun movie and not pushing some silly political anti one specific gender message. That's the key. When a movie stars men (say that silly car one) it isn't about bashing or belittling women. However, certain female led films spend more time bashing men and tyring to show women as gods to actually make a good film. Plenty of female led films are fantastic because they bfcous on making them film good. IMAGINE THAT. Also, HINT: When you spend your interview time bahsing men and telling them point blank the film isn't for them don't be shocked they don't show up for your mivie when you specifically told them not to. Another HINT: You know full well action films tend to be favored by men not women so why make a film for women when they'r elikely not gonna to see it anyways. Bonus HINT: Plenty of women love action films. But, they lvoe them because they are fun, entertaining, and full of action. Don't talk down to them. Just make the film. LMAO *goes back to watching first two Terminators and Alien while waiting for Wonder Woman 2* R00lfes!

  27. I was really hoping for chromatic aberration toggle, it mixed with the small text in the inventory/character/journal. Are the only thing keeping many people from playing the game at all on console.

  28. Hello Lamppost, i give you back my opinion on the wael priest ; i really like the idea your deceptions and illusions spells disturb ennemies and coast them a layer of concentration, and cause your illusions buff when then miss you that extend your beneficials effects durations. That do a real influence from the deity for your priest, and a new way to play this one. However i found the salavation of time buff on miss too much, and had the impression i was cheating during my test. So i try with the wall of draining self buff statueeffect ID in place of salvation one, and with just one second of extension on miss, that was very nice to play, just slowly the time when the effects expire. I try also with equip th Ooblit pet , and that was stagnate the timer when you are alone in the melee , so really buffed stuff but you have to keep your eye on the statue list. So I wasnt the wael effigy half god and half priest, or like in vanilla case a cosmetic named priest, but a blessed priest with a real impact from this faith by this way, this is my experience from your mod. I didnt try other priest for the moment, but thank you for this great job

  30. And I have started today the DLC for the Celestian Tales: Old North called the Howl of the Ravager. It is prequel to the game, which is story about one of the biggest heroes of the land. So far little bit easier than the main game, two hours, three boss fights. And I've encountered one glitch, with which I have ended up in the walls of one mansion, and because I forgot to save, I lost 30 minutes of progress Still having enough fun to like the DLC as well.

  34. I am not refusing to acknowledge anything. I was simply trying to explain to you that, in general, this subforum is not a place where you should expect direct help from tech staff -- not that you shouldn't post bug reports. There is a post by an Obs dev in this very thread acknowledging the issue on October 29th. If there's a bug with the quest, it's likely that the only thing that will help is waiting for a patch (which, as of the time of writing this, has been stated to be planned to drop on the 18th). Sorry you're having trouble. Moderators are not Obsidian employees, mind.

  35. Well please provide an avenue of support then, as every time you try to find some way of reporting bugs it indicates to come here! i have emailed directly and got no response. I really enjoyed playing this game until it broke, I cannot continue playing the game, do you understand? The fact there has been no updates for this game since launch is telling, either you are refusing to acknowledge the bugs as you promised a bug free game on launch or it’s just plain ignorance. Apologies for being abrupt, but the frustration of a lack of support from a fresh game is tiring. It’s a simple fix and one that would help a great number of players to continue playing this game.

  36. I don't normally play RPGs fresh out of the oven either, but I keep hearing how initial sales is Very Important Thing, and this is new independent studio that went for something more original than high fantasy cliche salad with mild Tolkien dressing No 112, so I made an informed decision to give them my money and then wait.

  39. Yeah, I wonder what this is like on PC, because on console it’s annoying. Talk to someone? Draw down on them. Open a door? Draw down on it. Use an elevator? Definitely ready for action.

  40. I second this. I feel like I'm gonna accidentally shoot someone in the face and screw up a mission or a faction rating.

  41. Please add an option to use the right trigger to ready the weapon instead of pressing X, so I can keep my weapon holstered while interacting and talking to NPCs.

  42. Maybe melee is tougher, but I completed my first run on Supernova with Long Guns/Science build and the game was jokingly easy after the first 3-4 hours. As long I kept companions on defensive or passive AI I had ZERO issues keeping them alive. Everything is dead before they can even get in range and any stragglers that actually get through would be nuked by two companion abilities.
