  1. At OBS ending the first day of this annual visit. Got to see some of the new digs (aka renos) and hearing about some of those geeky things that make OBS such an amazing set of storytellers ... In the meantime, a few collages of some of the wall art for your geeky goodness ...

  2. Thanks to everyone who participated. Below you will find the Top Three Dev Questions, community member contributor, and a Dev's subsequent reply. Happy 20th Obsidian! Q: I've seen that there is someone who's head of XBox research for Obsidian. How do the developers work with that person and their team? What are the kind of things that Obsidian can ask them/they bring to Obsidian? (Question submitted by Sannom) Q: Are we ever likely to see a similar complexity of choice and consequences as done in Alpha Protocol in any future games? Or was the combined reactivity of conversations, character attitudes, the timing of when and where you met characters and mission choices too stressful, frustrating, and convoluted for testing and story writing to revisit that approach? (Question submitted by Raithe) Q: You guys obviously do a lot of research on your games, given how detailed and plausible your worlds are so that even little things stick in memory, like rings considered to be tacky to use as jewelry in Tyranny or yacht's name in Alpha Protocol being a reference to cult soviet cartoon, and it's clearly more than "lets google this sh†t", so here's my question - how do you do your research? (Question submitted by bugarup)

Concelhaut’s Draining Missiles should no longer occasionally show 0.0 damage in the combat log. Weapon Specialization: Peasant should now reliably add its damage to unarmed attacks. Attacking Osrya directly will now reliably engage with her revenant and skeleton minions. User Interface and Interaction: Fixed a UI issue where chants could sometimes clip beyond their scrolling frame. Fixed a case where the damage type icon on the character sheet might not position correctly. Fixed some cases where assigning companions to multiple stronghold missions at once might cause UI issues. Fixed an issue where highlighting certain parts of a defeated enemy would not allow you to loot them. Doors in some scenes that were difficult to interact with have had their collision revised and should now be more reliable. Fixed a case where the final pressure plate in the Temple of Woedica would not appear. Examining the wall trophy inside of Elm’s Reach should now be possible. Skipping intros when first starting the client should now be more responsive. Fixed accuracy tooltips not appearing on the character sheet. Interactable tree in the Abbey of the Fallen Moon now can be interacted with properly. Fixed a bug preventing interactable highlights from appearing after opening the map.

  4. Hi all, It's been a while since there has been no discussion on this topic, and the activity on the forum as a whole has been reduced a lot for a few months. I don't know if it is related to BG3 release (not playing myself, not enough time to launch myself into something as new as freaking real 3D) or just the semi-old age of the game in general. I think the mod has been stable for long enough to consider it complete and to take the time to thank everybody involved for this experience. I'm not completely quitting the mod (I would correct any critical issue) or even the forum but I just wanted to say goodbye and thank you before there is no one left here. Cheers to everyone who participated on this mod (it was my first mod ever), on this thread, on this forum or even on PoE1 forum ! My first thoughts go to @Noqn who made some of the changes for the mod, resident @Boeroer for all his advices even he was not a direct user (I presume) and @thelee for his Faq and general expertise. And for all the ones who "liked" the release post of the new versions, it always help keeping oneself motivated ! It's been a major hobby for a couple of years of my life, and I enjoyed a lot the community here !

  7. We bought a house. Well, a townhome, but it's pretty nice. We have been renting for about 15 years, so it is a big deal. We just cleared to close, so sometime next week we will get the keys and start moving.

  13. Some leading devs of Deadfire stated on Twitter that they would be up for it - about a year ago or so. I guess if Microsoft gives a thumbs up we might actually see something like PoE3 (maybe a bit smaller) - Xbox Gamepass needs games!

He's going to be on oxygen for a while (if not forever) and has got a couple of oxygen compressors. Obvious issues with that aside, he's doing better than he has in a long time.

  16. I've been taking the train to work regularly, and I can't believe I didn't start doing it earlier. With our recent home purchase and move, my 45 minute drive to work became more like an hour, so I knew I needed an alternative. The great thing is I leave for the train about the same time I'd need to leave in my car, and I only get home about 30 minutes later. I jump on my bike in the morning at about 6:15 AM and ride 2 miles to the train station. It's downhill and so I can cover it super fast. Train rolls out at 6:29. Then it gets to my stop around 7:14 AM (It covers about 40 miles and there are only 4 stops on the way.) I then jump on my bike and ride about 9 miles to work. It's a bit slow going with the traffic lights, but I still get it done in about 35-40 minutes and make it before my 8 AM first period of the day. In the afternoon I have a fair amount of extra time to get to the train before it heads home, so it's not nearly as rushed. The train itself is pretty nice and even has a bathroom. It's never crowded where I get on (apparently it gets busier as they get closer to San Francisco. I'm surprised more people don't do this, as the car traffic is terrible where I live. That being said, there have been some delays and stopped trains. It sounds like everything runs smoothly 90% of the time, which is good, but not great. I can see why being late once every two weeks could be an issues for people. That being said, yay for trains and bikes and boo to cars.

  19. Well I'm done with BG3. I'm sure it's a good game, there is just too much that bugs me. normal writing would be "i walked home" larian writing "my promenading jaunt cultuvated in my advent betwixt dwellings implanted upon the thoroughfare" Think I'll just stick to EU4 until broken roads comes out

  25. Hey folks, It's great to see so many familiar faces, and new ones too! Right now we're taking a lot of caution to make sure the game is stable with the unity engine update and we aren't introducing any major new issues. However, I'll make sure we investigate both the trap potency and the cursor flickering issues as well. It'll be great fix up some of those long-time nuisances. (and a few others too!) @callistege - Yes, you should be able to continue your current play-through on the public beta branch. However, please note that the branch is a newer version of the game, and we tend to restrict loading newer saves on older versions, so any save games you make on the public beta won't be valid on the Release branch until the new patch goes live. Thanks everyone for your support, and if you happen to find anything else you'd like to report feel free to pass them along and we'll do our best to track and work through them!

  27. I'd have thought Alan Wake 2 would have been bigger. I guess being stuck on Epic cut out the legs. I guess this is more fuel for the eternal PoE sales debates. I think more important to me than how Deadfire did is that Sawyer wants to do a hogwild PoE3. Microsoft, let him cook. This man will make a game where you need to have a PhD in math to understand half of it and an expert knowledge of the occult to understand the other half. It will be glorious.

  28. I'm visiting OBS this week - which is most wonderful :). So, Saturday included a run along the beach in Newport. This is always an interesting journey to see the diversity of the sand denizens. From sparkly sequins to electric boarders to those who shine in non-conformity ... kind of reminds me of The Outer Worlds each visit

  32. This weekend I completed the Tour de Cure and rode 100 miles around Napa Valley. It was a beautiful day, although the sun didn't come out until mile 50 or so. We raised $25k, so another good year of fundraising. edi edit: Finished in 5:30, which was just a tad slower than last year. I'll take it. I got a bit nauseous around mile 75 and slowed it down, but it passed and I felt ok at the end.

  38. A glance through Redfall's credits reveals that 70-80% of the Arkane Austin level/OW design team consists of people who've never worked on an Arkane game before. The "fresh blood" were collected from all over the OW games industry, working on games such as Mafia, Saints Row, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Destiny etc. before. OW lead designer Rachel Adams prior worked on ME Andromeda and (fittingly?) Anthem. There's at least one leading level designer in Kelly Mangerino who prior was but a junior on Mafia 3 and got promoted for this immediately. In some ways, this makes sense, since Arkane have been built from the ground-up as a highly specialized studio -- and cooperative looter shooter open world games wasn't what this specialization was about. The mirror men of Arkane | Polygon However, a bulk of the newbies according to their LinkedI were hired as late as early 2022. There's still veterans in key positions, such as Bare, Huso and Steve Powers, people that go way back all the way to Deus Ex. Still, Prey's system lead Seth Shain is at Bungie. Prey's lead level designer meanwhile at Archetype. Gaming journalists, this would likely make for an interesting post mortem, eventually. And that's even without considering that Arkane founder and Prey director Raf Colantonio has left Arkane alongside a couple of other Arkane guys to form WolfEye (their first game, Weird West, is actually pretty fun). Bets accepted that they will be joined by more Arkane staff for their second game, for which they've signed a deal with an investor and posted job offers. Despite my ancient 1050ti not being up to par, I'd finally just bought an oldschool boxed copy of Deathloop (from Arkane Lyon, with the fabulous Dana Nightingale, once hired from the Thief fan mission community and famous for D2's Clockwork Mansion, still there). That's all you can do as a consumer: Sending the right market signals. Rather than the wrong ones. Because wasting studios like this on projects like Redfall is the blockbusting gaming industry at its most immature -- and similar as if Hollywood were to waste its better talent on the most generic Marvel spin-offs and Assassin's Creed movie tie-ins for life.
