  2. Is anyone here surprised? My only surprise is that Prig was that naive and stupid as to fly in Russian airspace. According to US intel, the plane carried the entire upper leadership of Wagner. Yay for Africa!! Btw, I can even believe that Prig and his buddies were told by Putin this is how it's going to be, along the lines of how the generals who conspired against Hitler in that bomb plot were given the "option" of poison.

  4. For work-related reasons, I am currently going through an extremely interesting as-yet unpublished text concerning Ukraine's recent political history. I find it extremely heartening that the Ukrainians actually began to demonstrate in late November 2013 after Yanukovych refused to sign the deal with EU, made a volte-face and decided to throw his lot with Putin. The heartening thing was that it was the young people of Ukraine who felt the most betrayed: the president's decision meant that they would likely spend their most productive years in the same Ukraine that their parents had known, a Ukraine full of sovok, as they termed it: a country of lumbering economy, corrupt bureaucracy, doltish complacency and stagnation, all the negative vestiges of Soviet Union. So they went to protest. And it grew. And Moscow got angry. And then, eventually, we got to where we are now. But it was the young people of Ukraine who decided that they'd had enough. The enormously disheartening thing about this is that the young people of Russia could do the same, could have done for so many years: they could also want to get rid of the lumbering economy, corrupt bureaucracy, doltish complacency and stagnation, all the negative vestiges of Soviet Union. But they don't.

  5. Some people should not speak on camera, good lord that video was intolerable. On a side-note, you should really manually go into turn-based mode before pickpocketing anybody - makes running away hilariously easy if you get a full turn of movement before the "I've been stolen from!" timer starts to run*. Upon seeing how broken pickpocketing was, I immediately implemented a "I can only steal enchanted and quest items from NPCs where there is no other apparent/satisfactory method of obtaining them" rule, because just stealing everything is incredibly lame and boring. (e): *Also, you can steal multiple items if necessary/successful before that timer starts to run. And also, the character can't move around while you're in turn-based mode. Overall, it just...doesn't make any sense not to be in turn-based mode.

  6. Just a few days ago the Niger junta met with Wagner to coordinate military planning, and the coup leader openly stated he was counting on Wagner to safeguard the coup from any military threat. Now would be a good time for ECOWAS to act, if they were going to be doing something anyway.

  7. Yes during the Cold War we witnessed surreptitious regime change from all sides, Im not sure since then how much regime the US has secretly been involved in? But I am not talking about that, Im talking about the last 10-15 years in numerous places where there has been rejection of an autocracy or citizens unhappy with certain draconian developments and they protest then you have a group of people who are anti-US\anti-Western and suggest that the reason why people want leadership change is because the US\CIA is telling them or responsible for the protests. And often the governments themselves who face these protests claim the US is behind it as a form of cope and a way to handwave the legitimate grievances . And several examples come to mind that include the Arab Spring : allegations that the US was behind the widespread protests Iran hijab protests Zimbabwe protests Ukraine and the 2013 protests Venezuela with many citizens wanting a new political system And that doesnt mean the US\West doesn't support the idea of leadership change in many cases but they not the main reason citizens want to see a change

  10. For some reason, I've had more luck with the 2's in the past. I.e. Disciples II, Master of Orion 2, Baldurs Gate 2, Icewind Dale 2, Portal 2, Age of Empires 2... the exceptions (from top of my head) being X-Com 3 and HoMM 3 being my favourite of their respective series I hope JA3 and BG3 follow in the footsteps of the the latter...

  11. I defeated Legion, an optional boss in Remnant 2. It was a really good boss fight, very well designed. I've been impressed with the boss fights in this game, they all feel very different and many of them have interesting mechanics, that goes for the special enemies, champions, if you will, too. Some lesser and/or lazier devs just go the route of making bosses colossal bullet sponges; the lazy way of making a boss fight feel like a monumental task is just to give them a metric ****ton of HP. Not here. Bosses (and some special enemies) are challenging because they have a gimmick (sometimes more than one). I won't spoil anything, but on my first 3 attempts fighting Legion I got OBLITERATED. i don't think I ever got Legion down to even half health. On my 4th attempt I figured out the gimmick and beat Legion on the next attempt after that. It was no cake walk even when I understood what I had to do, but it was no longer the seemingly insurmountable challenge. Gunfire Games know what they're doing, this is an expertly crafted game.

  13. aside, seeing as how more than 50% o' rfk jr's campaign money is coming from republican mega donors, am thinking he deserves a spot on the debate stage, although he may not meet the minimum number of individual contributors requirement. regardless, republicans is spending a whole lotta dough on a sham candidate and am thinking they deserve to have their contribution recognized. reverse side o' the same coin, if democrats continue to fund extremist republican candidates in the belief those candidates may win primaries but will lose against moderate democrats in a general election, am thinking those democrat funded "republican candidates" should likewise appear to debate democrats, although am not sure any 2020 national office republican saw more than 50% funding come from democrats, so is not exact an apples-to-apples comparison with rfk jr. am kidding but am nevertheless thinking it is kinda contemptable behaviour to intentional promote perceived unelectable candidates. the extremist candidates such as rfk jr and the host o' gibbering election denial and anti-abortion lunatics who got mowed down in the midterms, is set up to undermine electable moderate candidates and there is no doubt the scheme has proven effective. however, am thinking it is hypocritical to condemn the extremism o' your political adversaries if you is spending millions o' dollars promoting your opponent's most fringe challenging candidates regardless o' the efficacy o' the stratagem. in any event, am thinking it would be fun to see who 'tween vivek ramaswamy and rfk jr could abase themselves to the qanon element most effective on a national stage. am suspecting giorgio tsoukalos' head might explode if he watched those two metaphorical race to the bottom in their effort to embrace far-fetched pseudo-logic. HA! Good Fun!

  14. No need to be very successful if they ****up enough with Russian army. The Wagner media have also said, that they had orders in case of something like this happening. We’ll see in next few weeks, if they go against army, or get new jobs in new PMCs.

  24. I´m trying to make my first mode ever, (I don't even know how to code) using the program apotheosis. I'm trying to change the endgame sliders of Aloth. The thing is, I think the easier way to do it would be making him have more resposibilty points than absolve ones in my existing save. But I can't find that line of code aywhere. Help?
    1 point
  25. If you are ok with using console commands for this save (will disable achievements for your current save), you can enter this command to increase his responsibility points: IncrementGlobalValue n_aloth_p2_responsible 999 (You have to enter IRoll20s first if you haven't already.) If you want to do it the modding way, here's the following instructions for Apotheosis: Select Conversations, search for 'endgameslides' and double click that option. Next search for 'Aloth' in the left-bottom search box in the conversation tab and press Enter. You should now be centered on the "Bank Node" which defines all of Aloth's ending slides. Now for every child node in this Bank Node (#146), the easies solution would be to press the Conditionals button (it has a Key icon) and replace all the text with either AlwaysFalse() or AlwaysTrue() depending on whether you want that particular slide to show up or not. Happy modding

  27. I cleared out the Goblin camp, one of the three leaders has a bull**** ability that knocks your character(s) into a pit and there are some consequences for killing him. Also, the drow member of the trio is clearly intended to be a companion since she had containers on her that only party members have. I ended up reloading though because I went to rest and got killed. Will redo some of that stuff later. Class/Companion stuff: -Karlach continues to impress, throwing goblins around while enraged is just damn funny. -Wyll with Pact of the Blade is great, two eldritch blasts or two attacks is great and effectively 4x (3x for those without Bards) 3rd level spell slots at level 5 is very nice. Only downside is being in light armor, which hits his AC by 2 compared to my Bard. -Shadowheart's divine magic is a clincher, Guiding Bolt is an incredibly solid early spell that provides good utility while her healing and support are almost necessary. -I have not used Gale very much at all, will probably start after my Bard gets his extra attack next level but for now he just doesn't seem like he brings enough to slot out anyone. Laz competes with Karlach who for now edges her out and Astarion is very solid when he can sneak attack and when you need skills. That's what I did.

  28. There are, interestingly enough, levels to this self-deception, and a Russian journalist pointed out some of them in an interesting piece he wrote some months ago (won't go looking for the link now, sorry). In essence, he posed some counter-questions to people who tend to think in these terms and found that some of them can be persuaded or at least made to reconsider their position with well-posed questions, sometimes as simple as "So why are we killing Ukrainians, then?". But for some, no reasoning can work. It's exactly the same as with full-blown conspiracy theorists or clinically paranoid people: they are out of reach. It's very sad. (I think this is a genuinely difficult problem for concerned fellow humans and even psychiatrists: how to reach someone who's gone down the rabbit hole.) As for the text in question, there's a book coming out in January 2024, so it'll take some time.

  30. Post the link when you can, it sounds interesting? Vatniks on Codex will argue that the US was responsible for the "coup " in 2013 and it wasnt what the people of Ukraine wanted because it was the imperialist US and CIA that was behind the 2013 protests They will conveniently ignore the agency of the Ukrainians as if they cant possibly decide for themselves and how the majority of Ukrainians want to align with the EU and West and not be part of the Russian orbit

  32. Finished Stray Gods. It is an interesting musical/visual novel and a decent murder mystery (providing that the player can guess the murderer, but not the motive or the weapon, quite quickly, the MC is basically a bard, there is no typical evidence analysis). The romance subplot was connected to the main one without overshadowing it. There are some plot holes, but nothing critical, though the lack of fail states (accusing a wrong suspect or failing to obtain evidence or dying) or early endings (finding the murderer through unconventional options) are somehow disappointing. The visual design is excellent, from character art to location design to the minimalistic animations. The sound and VA are good overall and the branching songs are very impressive, though there are issues with different volume for different lines even within the same dialogue. The manual saving via Windows Explorer was rather annoying and could have been implemented in-game. Edit. The second personality trait (out of 3) can be chosen at the beginning of Act 3.

  33. If you mean "good" as an alignment, then, mostly, yes. With a certain disguise it is possible to avoid confrontations with the goblins in Act 1 and the only companion quest (that I remember) that has combat at that point is to defeat 3 devils. Helping the refugees, on the other hand, requires either to rescue the archdruid or to "encourage" his replacement to assist. Not sure about saving the gnomes in Grymforge (I murdered the duergar), but it might be possible. In Act 2, In Act 3, I had also forgotten about the tutorial fight against 3 imps and the encounter at the helm (though, one just has to cross the area and interact with the "wheel" there).

  35. No, that wouldn't be fair. Each of them has multistaged companion quest, and it seemed they are tied to one major location in the world. It also seems those companion quests have branching paths, providing at least some amound of unique content pay playthrough. The stories so far, are rather predicable - you watch 1 minut origin intro during the character creation, and you probably can figure out most story beats of each companion. To me the biggest disappointment comes from how few of the companions there are, and how drastic the contrast is between first act, and... well, I won't say the rest of the game for now, but at least 2nd act. Larian promises a lot in act1, and I don't think the rest of the game quite lives up to the expectation so far.

  36. Lots of good outcomes include avoiding combat. But not as a whole up to act2, you'll be skipping a lot stuff if you absolutely avoid combat. It's a bit misleading, speed runners can reach end of act2 in 8mins, because a lot of the stuff is plain skippable.

  37. make bg3, bg2, bg1 with the iwd2 rules implementation would be something we would pay good money to see. aside, am knowing you dislike bards and perhaps if we saw bg3 implementation we would also like 'em less. however, we will observe the best bg2 stronghold quest were bard, but 'cause almost nobody played as a bard, all that content were wasted. last time we personal played a d&d bard were d20 and we thought it were fun. we also played and had fun with bard archetypes in pathfinder pnp: dwarven scholar & detective. we got good will built up for bards. converse, years o' pnp experience has resulted in our reflexive dislike o' druids, a class almost invariably played as some kinda annoying hippie wannabe or as a 20th/21st century ecoterrorist. if somebody says they is gonna play a druid as part o' a pnp group, it takes effort for us to stifle a groan. have never once seen somebody play a druid other than cliché or cartoon. drizz't mucked up the ranger class for many players, but to be fair, 2nd edition went all in on the drizz't silliness by adding dual-wield as a class feature. even so, were drow fan boys and not tsr who added lame to the class. ranger has been busted ever since 2nd edition. paladins is rare played well, but am admitting we has seen exceptions to a general trend. we ordinarily avoid druids, rangers and paladins in d&d crpgs cause o' our dislike o' how they is played in pnp... which doesn't actual make much sense. irrational doesn't change the fact we tend to avoid those three classes. HA! Good Fun!
