  2. At least the point of the misunderstanding makes sense, imo, since a "nazi" in russia is not what we see as a nazi. For us it's right wing authoritarian etc. etc. but for them, a nazi is everyone who is against russia. Basically, west and russia are talking about two completely different things.

  3. necro-ing this thread because my lifegiver druid is finally high enough level where i'm playing around with this. i think what's neat about this avenging storm<->effort is that it runs on a spectrum. there's definitely an extreme where you have enough accuracy and/or hit-to-crit where you wipe out entire fights, but if you're not building a super min-maxed character it feels quite "fair", you don't get endless sequences of bolts, but you do get a handful of bolts sometimes as a nice reward. i also thought it'd be really important to have something like druid aoe ticks or monk multi-attack synergies, but on the less "cheesy" end of the spectrum, just auto-attacking with effort and storm can get you some bonus bolts. in this respect i feel like this is like salvation of time or combusting wounds - almost a no-op if you're not built for it, pretty good if you know how to play with it, and utterly busted if you so choose. (incidentally i found that wondrous torment plus a flail means that even a tough bullet-sponge can get bolted to smithereens from like an auto-attack proc)

  4. as somebody who dislikes anime with extreme few exceptions, am almost surprised to admit we has enjoyed a few anime tunes... and am purposeful excluding cowboy bebop's tank 'cause it is the example every anime hater offers for the exception to a rule. yeah, not many likes for us, but the infrequent anime earworm is nevertheless more common than a show worth watching. doesn't need be chipmunk fodder one more... and is from a gonzo show no less. not quite chipmunk if inching closer. btw, we will cut anybody who let's it be known we said something positive 'bout anime. HA! Good Fun!

  5. Indeed, Blood Mage with nerfed WoD, nerfed Potion of Final Stand/BDD, nerfed Blood Sacrifice AND without blatant cheese like SoF AND deciding to not use the Grimoire Imprint trick (the last Wizard cheese left in BPM)... make for a very short solo run. I think a Loremaster can still have some fun because they can Empower to regain spells + switch to grimoire of vaporous wizardry to gain double the amount of spells back. And empower certain Chanter invocations in the next fight to regain all their empower points, while using summons as distraction for survival. An Arcane Knight with high Arcana and focus on healing/defensive spells with uber powerful offensive scrolls could be pretty solid too. But I think they'll only be viable up to a certain point at max difficulty. They can't win certain encounters, like SSS or FS hard fights and of course non-cheesable megabosses. For soloing everything with BPM, either you allow some modicum of cheese, or you only play the few combos with built-in self-regenerating resources (built-in cheese?).

  6. That's doubtful. Warwick Davis could pick his nose for an hour and it would be more entertaining than Shannara. (Or Wheel of Time, take your pick.)

  7. I don't think it was the Bount, but maybe the one after that. It was sometime after they had invaded the Hollow world and killed the bat guy. The manga was ahead and more interesting at that moment. I hope he does end up doing the hell arc. That has some potential. That is naughty of you. Take my recommendations seriously. Ba ba baby. But really, I also gave anime the cold shoulder for a while because I didn't have access to the weirder and better stuff while the bigger series, like Bleach, had a lot of awful of filler that was terrible. The fact is that a lot of anything is terrible, just look at the TV series being released or some of the movies that are out. Top Gun: Maverick is 2 hours of US military propaganda with subplot about a man in a midlife crisis bolted on, now that's some garbage. Would be silly to drop movies after seeing that. I think a problem is that anime is often seen less as a medium and more as a genre, which is often reinforced by how things are released and marketed. Outside of Japan at least, in the weebosphere is you will. A big problem is that the weirder series are stuff you have to go looking for while the trash takes center stage. The same applies to film or tv or games or anything really: Everything Everywhere All At Once is a film most of us here loved, but that mostly got heard because of word of mouth (very little advertising compared to a studio blockbuster but a ton of rave reviews from regular people). Compare this to Marvel Movie #9384 or Spielberg's boomer kitsch or Top Gun, you can't help but be inundated with them even if you have no intention of watching them. Now I've lost the plot by getting mad at Top Gun again. What a ****ty movie. Anyways Chainsaw Man 8. Denji has a hangover and Aki whips out his sword after eating ramen. What a great show.

  8. I know that I rag on everyone and everything way too much as it is, and it can be a really mean and trashy thing to do, especially for earnest recommendations from people who genuinely enjoy or even love what they're recommending. It must sometimes (or maybe even always!) seem that I am just being some combination of unnecessarily acerbic, contrarian, or simple hostile bastard that somehow literally everything you recommend invariably draws some kind of dire and terrible ire from me... I would just like to say that I don't mean to, I really honestly don't. I have not watched hardly anything of the show, but I have been frequently compared to Sheldon of The Big Bang Theory by others with regards to his ludicrous levels of intolerance and hatred for anything that even slightly deviates from exactly how he likes it: I am just the totally wrong person to recommend stuff to unless you have an excellent handle on exactly what I like and the particulars of why, and almost literally nobody does - sometimes not even myself. With all of that said, let me just say is that many years ago when I was younger, I had a couple of close friends (including the aforementioned woman that recommended I Want to Eat Your Pancreas to me recently) that were super into both Bleach and One Piece, and so I had some amount of exposure to them. Those two are the animes/mangas that made me...not ever want to even look at the medium again. If they had instead been into other stuff, like maybe some lame and crappy shoujos, it's quite possible that I would have been something less than the full-on "DEUS VULT" that I have been with regards to anime up until very recently...but they weren't: here's another reminder that I truly believed that I wholly despised the entire medium until I randomly came across and tried Nausicaa and Sailor Moon, .

  10. The British writer Keir Giles, who has a new book out (Russia's War On Everybody) makes some interesting claims. Such as: - Russia does seriously believe that NATO forces other countries to join the alliance and that the countries actually have no interest in joining. This stems from Russia's own history of forcing other countries to join the Warsaw pact and following a similar policy in other ways as well. It would be good for "the West" to know this. - Because all talk about democracy, human rights and the rule of law are just words without meaning for Russia, Russia seriously believes that everthing concerning all this is also just a show in "the West". This is related to the fact that Moscow's inability to engage in (what we in "the West" regard as) any normal co-operation has remained constant not only for decades but centuries. One main point is that there are extremely severe misunderstandings on both sides and that the enormous differences between Russia and "the West" should be understood much more clearly. (This made me think of the oft-repeated claim that "the West" is slow to understand that Russia only understands force; negotiations are meaningless for Russia, and there is no cultural pressure of having to adhere to what has been agreed.) Whether Giles is correct or not, I don't know.

  13. I liked StarCraft because it was a nice blend of likeable and interesting characters, had a decent sci-fi story, nice background lore and a fun campaign. StarCraft II came out and assassinated the characters within the first two seconds of the very first cutscene and then proceeded to took a giant dump on the world building and established lore in that afterthought of a campaign that was flashy style over substance coupled to a game designed solely to appeal to RTS e-sports players - and that is without even considering the audacity to sell content worth one game in three separate installments to rake in some more cash. As much as I sometimes complain about Mass Effect 3's ending, for me, SC2 ranks very high amongst the biggest disappointments in gaming. WoW's Cataclysm just sealed the deal in the same year.

Oh, I've got to try all the other treatments first, also I'd never set my foot in Turkey, because they'd likely arrest me for being a terrorist since I've lost count of the amount of times I've protested in support for kurds. That said, if nothing really works I can get "climate treatment" in Teneriffa or Gran Canaria for 10€/day. I'd die from heatstroke, but atleast the psoriasis wouldn't bother me

  19. @Raven Darkholmequote seemed to stopped working for me so sorry for using at. In BPM WoD got nerfed though I don't really know how much weaker it is. Also Blood Sacrifice has a recovery and gives a -100% healing received debuff for 6s so I coudn't think of a way to safely use it.

  20. I get this on my own, it's not prescribed. The only drawback with Bioderma Intensive Baum is that it leaves residue, so after a couple of applications you do need to wash it away and the price of course, it's expensive.

  21. I don't like One Piece either. As for Bleach, it depends a lot on which episodes/arc you watched, some are pretty terrible, not to mention the filters.

  22. That falls under eczema, no? Try Bioderma Intensive Baum (this will help a lot with the itching) and their bathing oil. The thing with seborrhoeic dermatitis is the inability of the skin to retain moisture, so you need to moisturize it constantly and avoid any soaps that will dry out your skin.

  23. @Azdeus Go easy on the corticosteroids as they will thin out your skin after prolonged usage. Ask me how I know. If at all possible try to find an alternative that works for you, as those corticosteroids are not good for you in the long run. Also watch out for secondary infections, if you scratch the scabs odds are at some point you will get either a bacterial or fungal infection, or both. I do not know how it works for psoriasis, but for eczema if it starts spreading or doesn't go away for a long time then it's probably a secondary infection. Try not to scratch is what I'm saying...

  24. The first 2-3 arcs are peak Shonen. There are a very few manga out there that come close. I can recommend anyone to watch the anime until the end of Soul Society arc. If nothing else the art in the manga is phenomenal, in a minimalist kind of way. Which filler arc? As for the hell arc, I think he will wait for the anime to finish, or be close to finishing.

  26. "Gorth changed the title to Anime and Manga - fanservice, fanservice everywhere and not a character dramatization in sight!" I'm disappointed. Sounds like @Gorth still needs the anime Ludovico. Huh. I remember dropping the anime after the filler arcs clogged it up but the manga was pretty good. Maybe he'll do a sequel with the hell stuff soon.

  27. On the bright side, just to post that picture in the Wrath thread, I started up the Violet Evergarden movie again and clicked through it. Nope, still don't like the way it ends. Also still think it's a blight on Violet's character arc, and cheapens her struggles (and the perfect way the show ended). Still, it looks amazing for something made recently, and there's nary a fault to be found in structuring or writing, I mean, aside from adapting a really useless part of the source material. Also tried the English dub for a change, and, yeah, thanks, but no thanks. It's not the same without 2B voicing Violet.

  33. gets credit as being lgbt but those elements is implied more than overt so could disappoint a few viewers who were expecting paradigm shifts from an admitted lesser known 80s bowie flick. we don't wanna ruin the experience by saying too much. am gonna highly recommend not reading wiki or on-line synopsis before viewing. to this day we do much approve o' the score and is why we share. regardless, we were reflecting on movies we consider important but relative unknown and this were among the first to come to mind. ... nevertheless, at the risk o' tainting the well, we will observe we enjoyed merry christmas mr. lawrence a bit more when we were younger. such reevaluation doesn't make the film less worthy o' consideration. HA! Good Fun! ps am gonna admit the initial reason we thought o' mr. lawrence is 'cause we saw one o' those a bit too early best christmas movies polls and 'course being Gromnir, our first thought were the lion in winter. others making the cut is edward scissorhands, stalag 17, kiss kiss bang bang, the hudsucker proxy, rocky, gawain and the green knight and the animated 1966(?) how the grinch stole christmas tv special.

  35. this particular devil is a bit more elusive than suggested. am gonna opine label as pacing severe understates the reality o' the issue. as a developer, one need ask the following: what is the necessary levels & powha to complete the game? obvious the player needs be provided enough xp and gear rewards so they may reasonably overcome game challenges, yes? with a game offering considerable optional content, the developer challenge is to try and make so a critical path player is able to finish but a completionist don't hit the level cap too soon. not as ez as a few might surmise. 'course you may always add infinite or functional limitless levels, but then you got the problem o' the completionist becoming so disproportionate powerful the late and end game challenges become underwhelming, which results in different but equal predictable complaints. remove xp awards for optional content is a reasonable and rational solution, but not a practical one as fans dislike not being properly rewarded for their in-game efforts and level scaling foes is problematic at best. ok, now add dlc such as treasure o' the midnight isles... is the same/similar problem as is excess gold/money for the completionist. the critical path player needs have enough money to buy useful gear from stores, but a player who does everything in the game is gonna predictable have more money than the critical path player, correct? if gear impacts player powha, then a player with more money is necessarily gonna have more powha. the game, balanced so a critical path player may successful overcome challenges, becomes a snoozefest for the player who is overlevel'd and overgeared. predictable the completionist player grouses 'bout how they got millions o' gold/rubbles/whatever and nothing 'pon which to spend. so, what is the level cap solution? dunno. before they released pillars of eternity, the obsidian developers insisted they had a solution to disparate xp rewards for critical path players v. completionists. absent per-kill xp grants and the like, there were obvious a bit more flexibility available to the obsidian developers than is the case for owlcat, but obsidian failed to achieve meaningful results in spite o' the fact it were a stated goal to minimize the gulf 'tween casual and hardcore player experiences. aside, is the advent and popularity o' computer games which created this problem. sure, the old d&d 1e monster manual had xp values for critters, but it were never intended that each critter kill and lock picked were resulting in individual xp gains. in point o' fact, d&d xp rewards were s'posed to happen only after the completion o' an adventure and were the result o' a kinda kinda gestalt analysis. following the adventure, the dm would come up with party and player xp rewards custom tailored to how those players overcame obstacles, then the player would "train" and potential level-up 'tween adventures. years o' regular weekly pnp d&d gameplay would possibly get you to double-digit levels in 1e. mega dungeons and computer games in particular changed the xp equation and not necessarily for the worse. unquestionable different. the thing is, every solution we has seen so far either didn't work or were hated by players. bg2 is a good example o' fail as thac0, saves and spells learned/known don't improve past a certain point in d&d, so all you got at level-up were a hit point or two. people complained. d&d solution were to stop providing additional power with subsequent gained levels.as a fix, tob added sooper powers to bg2, which had people complaining. etc. HA! Good Fun! ps, the biggest problem with wotr alignment is alignment. pathfinder using d&d legacy alignment and owlcat making it a crpg mechanic is a mistake. make good, evil, law and chaos objective quantifiable and then integrate the resulting morality axis as a game mechanic were stoopid from the inception. is only possible to mitigate the stoopid, which is hardly an ideal outcome. pathfinder needs an alignment exorcism as 'posed to a fix.

  36. I don't usually play Lawful to begin with, but Owlfinder Lawful is one of the worst implementations I've seen. The Lawful options are almost always either evil, stupid, or just a plain buzz kill. Some folks have said Lawful feels like what Regill would do, I think it's like what would Hulrun do, though I suppose the difference between the two is thinner than Elon Musk's real hair. It's either no fun allowed, throwing someone in prison for public intoxication in the middle of an invasion, or "You broke the Law. Die!". Anyways I've finally got further than the Maze without rerolling and have taken Wenduag instead of Lann. She may be a groveling man eater, but at least she doesn't make terrible jokes or sexually harass any of the ladies.

  37. I wanted to explain this further. Good (and possibly evil, I haven't tested it and I only make a few evil choices) actions move you toward neutral on the law/chaos axis as well as the good/evil axis. So if you pick only good options then you'll turn neutral good since it shifts you both neutral and good... and to make that worse is that most lawful options come off as lawful neutral or lawful evil even though they only move you the law/chaos axis. So to remain LG you have to be careful of where you are on the alignment wheel because you may have to avoid good choices and make lawful ones instead to avoid falling to the horribleness of neutral good. Or invest in scrolls of atonement. Or use a mod.

  38. I'm sort of in the same boat, or maybe in the camp that wants "Ultimate Power" early. I like when a game isn't balanced so you only hit max level with one or two fights left to go, and only if you do every sidequest to boot (this is what WotR is like for Mythic Rank btw). While Baldur's Gate (1), the PoEs, and WotR do have too low of level caps for their exp rewards, but I think being able to skip or refuse quests while still being to hit the max level is a good thing.

  39. This is an issue on which I see and appreciate both sides of it. On the one hand, I too hate when I'm maxed out on level advancement and can no longer look forward to anymore advancing on my characters. But I also agree that gaining that final level, along with its benefits, just before the end of the game leaves me dissatisfied about not being able to use those benefits much in the game. But I don't see a way this problem can be fixed. Btw, in WotR, I've already kept myself from bothering with optional fights. Just couldn't be bothered with that painful optional fight in the Prologue dungeon (although my sneaky character was able to successfully claim all the loot in the room without triggering the fight).

  40. boys suck at school isn't the actual title... and is admitted kinda misleading, but... counter-intuitive, at all levels save the apex, women and girls is doing better than men and boys in education and jobs, at least in modern western economies. am suspecting asian nations is not accounted in the analysis, but am having no basis for such save anecdotal which is now admitted a decade past current. solutions is likely to trigger folks on both ends o' the political spectrum, so am not optimistic such trends is addressed or even studied further in any meaningful way. HA! Good Fun!
