  1. Now that you mention it, even though Liv Tyler was my least favorite character and casting choice for the original trilogy, she did still fit in much better than the bozos they had in The Hobbit trilogy. I've been pretty cruelly mocking Arwen and how she's used in those movies practically my entire life at this point, I guess I should cool it since it could've been worse. God willing, I will be watching nothing of The Rings of Power.

  2. Dazzling Display is a prerequisite of Shatter Defenses. As long as you take that, it'll not be a wasted feat even in the light of Frightful Aspect. edit: @InsaneCommander if you give Ember the Red Salamander ring, she will have two different spell levels of Hellfire Ray, which you can separately bolster. If you do that and then later pick Favorite Metamagic: Bolster, you can add some more of them to her spell levels. Because even if all newly created Bolstered spells are now one level lower than before, the old ones stay in the book. She can cast LOTS of these things. At insane damage.

  3. I have some exciting news, I have decided on my next game. Its going to be BG2 EE I typically take breaks from genres or similar games but I had such fun in BG1 Im in the mood. And I played it last 12 years ago so hopefully I have forgotten much of the narrative. I am loading mods and I will begin tomorrow

  5. I played both SC Psion and Psion/Troubadour. The slower focus gain (it's not THAT much slower though) gets balanced out by the fact that the Troubadour generates 1 phrase very 3 secs. You can alternate invocation and cipher spell with almost no waiting time for new resources. Also the combination of multiple summons (and in case of Many Lives Pass By they don't even need any action time or recovery) with charm and dominate is incredibly powerful. Often there's only one enemy left who's not controlled - and that single enemy faces an army of summons and turned foes that make short work of him. The most notable advantage of the SC Psion was (for me) that he reached Puppet Master a lot earlier. Casters are good picks. I'd say Bloodmage would be nice because unlimited spells. I can also see a nice synergy with Monk (Helwalker or Nalpasca). Monks have a good summoning ability, Duality of Mortal Presence:INT works very well for Cipher spells and so does Thunderous Blows. Dance of Death (and drugs for a Nalpasca) let you gain resources without doing anything (just avoiding getting hit - like with Soul Mind). If you use Xoti's Lantern you can gain 1 wound and 1 mortification from killing an enemy (or ally - like a dominated enemy), too. Mortification can be used for Enduring Dance of Death and Swift Strikes, wounds for summons, Thundering Blows and Duality. Psion/Ancient could be nice, too. Again good summons. As @abotsaid: Psion/Priest would work. You can even gain focus while withdrawn. I didn't play it, but Furyshaper/Psion might be a nice fit. Terrifying wards in combination with Secret Horrors, Mind Control and so on sound fun. A Ranger/Psion could gain great accuracy for single target CC (charm/dominate) and stuff like Disintegrate. Disintegrate works beautifully with Takedown Combo (all ticks get +100% dmg while Takedown Combo lasts - if you don't remove it by hitting the victim with an actual attack).

  6. Watched some stupid Rom-com on Netflix starring the big ape man from Umbrella Academy. I had no idea he was British but he started speaking and my wife and I looked at each other and wondered why he was doing that ridiculous accent. Turns out that's how he really talks. Don't remember the name of the movie but it was pretty bad though it started approaching okay towards the end.

  7. intimidator sosiel + selective siroccos put a serious cramp in the rogue cultist's style. have intimidator sosiel spam thug-enhanced dazzling displays and since you no doubt already know exact where the cultists are having had to suffer enigma previous, is simple a matter o' how much boredom you are willing to endure to clear a room o' the cultists as when they run away from sosiel. the cultists may avoid the sirocco or similar spell as they run in terror, but they eventual find their way back and are likely prone'd by the spell but most assured affeared... 'cause intimidation actual scales very nice on unfair. admitted, we use a bit o' additional cheese and put an icey body velociraptor (umd makes so we may cast on the raptor) out front as kinda a staked goat to lure out the nogoodniks. the raptor, under the influence o' icey body, is immune to crits but if it were to die it is auto resurrected on raised from dead on rest. one o' the utility scrolls we always have a couple extras o' is icey body 'cause o' the immunity to stuns it provides. facing the mythic carnivorous crystal and the like becomes less frustrating with a few party members immune to the stun aoes. ... 'course if we have sosiel take one level o' crossblood sorc, then it means we need have another companion or our player character do the intimidation thing. HA! Good Fun! ps we will say unfair is a punishing slog, which is why we have never done a complete unfair run and am expecting we never complete such a game. have fought most bosses unfair... admitted not the foes only available to demon or trickster, and we has completed a number o' the more annoying encounters on unfair, but an entire game?

  8. I played Conan no issue in single player mode, but I was not in offline mode. To be fair, every big update breaks everything and messes up mods, so I don't think it is a battle pass conspiracy. This too shall pass.

  9. Russian equipment is proving to be pretty low tech and hasn't really improved much since the Soviet Era (Let's be honest here, USSR collapse was the worst thing that happened to them), but their 'Deep Operations' tactics are slowly but surely working. The question is how long can they keep it up? "Deep Operations" was developed in the pre-War USSR (Stalin purged the original architect but eventually allowed his generals to implement it with astonishing success against German Blitzkrieg) that calls for a wide front and using combined arms tactics with constant artillery fire all along the front in an effort to entice the enemy to attack and then "mop them up" with reserves when they inevitably take the bait and launch an offensive. The Ukrainians are making the same mistakes the Germans did near the end of WW2 and launching petty "counter offenses" as the Russian MoD explains here. Sure, this whole thing seems like an IRL scenario of Hearts of Iron and other WW2 larping on a small scale with both sides using outdated tactics but it looks the Russians will inevitably gain the upper hand here as they now have first hand experience against modern NATO equipment and implement countering these in their doctrine. China's MoD is also watching closely here. The West gains nothing because Russia is not doing or using anything new or innovative in their tactics to learn from.

  12. HA! Good Fun! ps we keep mentioning how not a biden fan is Gromnir. however, is few things any recent President has said with which we agreed so unequivocal... and yet is more than passing curious how in 2022 a US President had to answer such a question the way he did not the mention the heretofore improbable pushback biden receives for making such observations. water is wet. not controversial. hardly praiseworthy. brave new world territory.

  13. In both situations I would expect to pick the most favorable damage type, ie pierce. Giving all elemental weapons dual damage seems, for me too, the most logical choice in order to have a single clear rule. Personally I also expect an immunity to protect only against the respective part of an attack not the entire attack. For example Rot Skulls vs crush immunes should apply only the disease, while vs disease immunes it should just deal crush damage. For that reason I consider also the damage immunity a much better solution overall, instead of keywords. To solve the situation 2 a solution would be to increase the specific elemental damage above the other resists and also increase the healing part to compensate for the lower damage received.

  16. I did 5 different batches. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot, and the beer was surprisingly better than what you typically find in stores. But it was also an expensive hobby and pretty time intensive. When I moved, my brewing buddy got all of the equipment we bought and he put it in storage, and so we haven't brewed in a few years. Top-notch ingredients seems to be the real key. Avoid the cheap ingredient kits. Fresh grains, fresh hops, and good yeast make a difference. We made 2 IPA's with Citra hops (one had been fermented with orange rinds), a Centennial and Chinook Pale Ale, a dark Weissenbock, and an amazing Vanilla Oatmeal Stout. The vanilla came from vanilla beans soaked in scotch, and it was by far my favorite beer we brewed.

  18. Game time is extremely relative thing. I routinely clock three digits of hours in RPGs and there's one in four even and it almost always is like "Why is it four in the morning when I just sat down with it a minute ago?!" versus, say, FEAR which dragged for me like forever and a year when I actually finished it in less than 10 hours.

  19. Its not that, there are several people who have played this game and had a similar experience. In the game there is spell caused RL Fog and when the spell is cast it can cause you to lose 35-40 hours of time in RL...so dont worry it just means you failed the saving throw

  20. I feel like I only just got the game the other day, but the GOG launcher claims I've spent 50+ hours on the game already. That's scary Hopefully that number includes the hours I've left the game paused! Edit: Game being Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

  24. I loaded up Conan Exiles with the new massive Sorcery update. A lot of people are worried about the Battle Pass system turning it into a microtransaction hell. I can't speak to how this will affect multiplayer folks, but as a single player, it doesn't seem to have much impact. There are a lot of positive changes coming with the update that don't cost any crom coins, and it looks like I have access to all of the DLC stuff I have purchased over the years. The two positive changes that stood out immediately to me: - The trait system is reworked. When you reach a certain level in an attribute, you get to choose from a list of perks. For example, when leveling up my expertise (harvesting attribute) I got to choose whether I want a boost to how much I get of a resource, or a better chance of a rare material. It adds some complexity to a stagnant system. - There are challenges to complete. These are separate from the storyline stuff. Some are exploratory (go pray at a certain altar), some are combat related, and some are harvesting related (harvest 10 iron sources.) It seems pretty simple, but it's another way to stay engaged. I didn't play long enough to get into the rewards. Anyways, I haven't even gotten into sorcery aspect, so I'm looking forward to that. But I was happy to see all of my DLC was still active and the single player game has only really been enhanced at this point.

  25. Reminds me of that jab Ricky Gervais took at him at one of the Golden Globes some years ago. Leonardo di Caprio went and see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (one of those several hour long movies). By the end of it his date was too old for him. At least Leonardo could laugh at the joke and not make sour faces like Tom Hanks and the rest that evening. If somebody hasn't watched those Youtube videos, do yourself a favour and watch Ricky roasting Hollywood celebrities at the globes. Comedy gold.

  27. Finished off the movie night in Andromeda, that was funny enough. Shame not more stuff to do with crew. Playing D3, the angelic crucible gave me a fun gimmick - I can strafe and spray multishot everywhere. Moves far slower than GoD, but still hits pretty hard.

  28. Josh Sawyer mentioned he had been griping about the marketing for a game he worked on. He obviously didn't specify which game, but I have to imagine it's Deadfire, right? There's evidence of the marketing guy getting fired/not having contract renewed. There's also the fact that the Steam page/ultimate edition now completely downplays ship imagery (whereas the backer mouse pad I have reflects the imagery they were going for originally, which is high seas fantasy). And, like you say, I learned about Tyranny through promotions and such and I can still recall the highly stylized art in the promos, whereas I backed Deadfire and barely saw anything about it.

  29. I completed SoD last night and it was a very entertaining DLC for BG1, well worth the experience. Its gets a solid 70/100 on the globally respected " BruceVC game rating system " The key take-aways and indelible points from SoD were I enjoyed the large battles like Boareskyr Bridge and the assault on DS castle I decided to take the challenge of the one-on-one duel with the bombastic and arrogant Ashatiel, I had my doubts I would win because Im a wizard but I got lucky with Wand of Paralyzation and then once she was frozen I killed her with spells like Magic Missile I thought the maps like Underground River had some interesting quests I decided to poison the DS Castle water and food and I used the barrel explosives to destroy the gate, the crusade had to be defeated and I had no qualms about using these types of controversial strategies I aligned with Caelar Argent in the final battle against Belhifet, I understand why she did what she did and I forgave her I enjoyed the appearances of the Hooded Man\Jon Irenicus and how this tries into the BG2 narrative, Im considering continuing with BG2 but I probably wont because I played BG2 about 12 years ago and I remember too much about the narrative so I may wait a while?

  33. Soulblade with Sun&Moon/Tuotilo's Palm or Sun&Moon/Magran's Blessing is a good combo for a Soulblade/Kind Wayfarer. With Flames of Devotion you will get two healing procs (1 from Sun&Moon and another one from the shield bash). With Soul Annihilation you will profit from the uniqueness of Sun & Moon: the first flail head will apply Soul Annihilation's raw damage, the secons will already regenerate focus. So you can spam Soul Annihilation all the time if you wish. The good thing here is that Soul Annihilation is a primary attack so you won't use the weak bash of the shield. Still the bonuses of Two Weapon Style and Dual Wielding still get applied - so your attack speed with Soul Annihilation will be great. And should you or the party need some healing you use a litte White Flames for two healing procs. That the bash does not do exceptional damage is negligible because it's about the healing in this case. For the dmg output you use Soul Annihilation.
