Finished GioGio Golden Wind. ****ing great. Also watched Magnetic Rose, a short film part of Memories (1995). Pretty much a space ghost story, very good one and done that makes good use of every minute. @Bartimaeus will probably like it.2 points

420 forks done. A friend approached me with a possible job offer. Told him I need at least a week to finish the project I am working on. Didn't have the heart to tell him the project was painting forks.2 points

I'll second what others have already said to this. Especially with the DLCs added in, the game is fantastic in most ways. Only the gameplay mechanics, especially wrt combat, can be confusing and opaque. For me, once I just accepted that I didn't really want to know how anything worked and would simply accept the results/outcomes at face value, i.e. when I stopped worrying about those pesky details, I had a blast playing it. Ditto for the second game, which has the added awesomeness of multi-classing.2 points

I've been playing Don't Starve a lot, and one idea that should be taken from that game is the idea of a fridge that slows food spoilage. It could even use bug parts dropped by the Ladybird, or the Ladybird Larvae, finally giving them a purpose.1 point

I'm getting ready for one last playthrough (gotta side with Rautai this time) and was wondering if there were any other interesting builds I'm missing. Here's what I've already done (usually by modding class/subclass options for companions): Transmuter/Tactician (gather up with Eora then chillfog/combustion wounds/etc) Unbroken/Illusionist (terrify+disengagement attacks) Woedica (mass debuffs, sort of like a Beguiler) Blackjacket/Streetfighter (blunder modal for flanked then quick switch to melee, didn't work quite as well with BPM and nerfed blunder modal ) Unbroken/Trickster (maximum deflection and riposte/offensive parry) Wael (priest tank!) Ancient (Thicket Green and all plant/beast spells) Shifter/Conjuror (conjuror self buffs then melee in shifted form) Evoker/Assassin (Assassinate with damage spells) Beckoner/Berserker (confuse+summoned skellies and then kill them with carnage/Amra to trip bloodthirst/lust) Helwalker/Ghostheart (pretty simple ranged DPS) Gunhawk/Assassin (idea was to smoke veil+attack and repeat but it turns out this is only really worthwhile if it gets you out of underpen) Stalker (melee ranger with high accuracy and on-crit items, didn't seem very strong tbh but maybe I needed some stronger item synergy with it) Gunhawk/Cipher (takedown+disintegrate) Forbidden Fist (no gimmick really, just a tank/dps hybrid) Shattered Pillar (scordeo weapons for blade cascade, speed boosts, and both hit during WotW into Resonent Touch) Nalpazca (wound generation keeps up with non-stop blade turning for a damage reflecting tank) Bleakwalker (DPS Paladin, no real gimmick beyond that and was kind of underwhelming. I don't love Paladin as a class) Beckoner/Goldpact (tank focusing on high armor to cause underpen) Enchanter/Bellower (started as a tank build with some spike damage from Bellower but probably would been better as SC Bellower tbh) Fury/Helwalker (high Int/Might for long range Elemental Druid spells) Berserker/Devoted (Voulge melee build) Soulblade/Furyshaper (two subclasses I had not played so combined then and it turned out well. Barbarian side helps generate focus fast and big hits with Soulblade get kills which synergize with Barbarian. The totems were a nice side bonus and were pretty strong IMO) Ascendent (weapons with per rest abilities/spells and extra weapon slots to fill focus fast) Psion (cipher support! Use some abilities I've overlooked in the past, like mindweb) Lifegiver/Troubadour (healer focus) Corpse Eater (food bonuses from kith meat or Forbidden pies were nice. Really just used this for the on-death item build with Vengeful Defeat) Rogue/Skald (melee crits beget offensive invocations) Gaun/Streetfighter (Frontliner that retreats to the backlines to shoot/cast once bloodied. Was hard to pull off most of the time) Helwalker/Streetfighter (mortification to self damage into bloodied and then Rogue abilities using ranged weapon, preferably one that has multiple projectiles or AoE to spread afflictions) Beguiler/Trickster (never really got this build, feel like SC beguiler would have been better) Psion/Berath (support build. Cast Priest buffs/debuffs then spam cipher support spells with the built up focus pool. Worked really well) Assassin (normal melee stealth attacker) Arcane Archer (straightforward Eora->Web->Fireball or Death nuke. Felt strong) I think I've also done most of the normal subclasses, too (like Vatnir's Rymrgand priest, Xoti's Gaun/Reaper, Tekehu's storm/water unique classes, etc etc). There are probably some item synergies I haven't explored yet or interesting subclasses or combos? Maybe even ones that include lesser used abilities or tactics? I try to stay away from things that seem too overpowered to the point that they might trivialize the game, though. Any ideas appreciated!1 point

That Rams vs Bucs game was wild. The Rams absolutely DOMINATED the game for 3 quarters, engaged in one of the most epic bed ****tings of all time by blowing a 24 point lead, then won the game on a crazy drive in the last 40 seconds.1 point

Single Class Priest of Berath has maybe my favorite Nuke of the game : Symbol of Berath. Long duration of pulsating corrode damages with Weakened affliction. Corrode damages is basically the reason why I love it so much compared to other symbols : it is much less resisted than Fire, Pierce or Cold, and Weakened will lower foes HP before obliterating them. Symbols are foe-only and since they are Tier 8, you will get ultimately get 2 casts. Berath Incarnate isn't bad : you are basically summoning another lvl 20 Priest (Usher Incarnate) along with a Fighter meat shield (Pallid Knight Incarnate is bad because it is equipped with a freaking normal Greatsword).1 point

What a coincidence. I think both Alien and Magnetic Rose are essentially haunted house in space. They're different in many ways, obviously, but that's the commonality I thought of when watching it. And it fits very well, you have a crew that stumbles into a derelict structure and encounters...something. I do like the whole dark/moody/oppressive sci-fi, especially horror sci-fi, but I also prefer stuff that is absurdist or just plain ****ing weird. Frankly too much sci-fi, particularly near future stuff, never gets as weird or dumb as real life.1 point

Hah, wow, I literally had Alien in mind when I was writing my previous post, because Alien is...exactly what I wrote there - dark/atmospheric/moody/oppressive sci-fi, aka my jam. Mind you, they're pretty different kinds of films by most measures, but they give a similar kind of feeling. I was pretty blown away by it the second time I watched it. I liked it on the first watch, but the second watch was way more powerful - that sometimes happens to me, and actually, that was true of Kon's Millennium Actress for me as well (which turned from a film that I 'liked' into easily one of my all-time favorites on a second viewing). I'll re-watch Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, and maybe Paprika someday as well - maybe they'll be better for me on a second watch as well.1 point

Well I feel slightly better about not searching now. I don't say this lightly, but Magnetic Rose is probably the closest thing to recreating the sci-fi horror of Alien. It's very well layered and ends on the perfect note. It very much creeped me out, I'm going to try and find the rest of Memories. I've been watching a ton of anime and will be trying to get my film backlog cut down, so for the near future I'm going to be mostly watching movies for anime.1 point

You might also consider tactician/berath for another relatively easy source of brilliant, especially if you're going for death godlike. But I love contemplatives. Helwalker/berath would be particularly good if you are going for a build more oriented toward casting spells. If you are going for a more melee oriented build, I'd recommend forbidden fist/berath, with a higher RES (18 would be good). The forbidden fist ability is amazing, inflicting enfeebled, which is a devastating affliction, and it heals you and gives you a wound as soon as the curse expires. The key is to have it expire quickly, with high RES, the Clarity of Agony ability, and Mohora Wraps food. You could wield the great sword as your main weapon, and use FF every few seconds, as soon as the curse expires. The death godlike PL boost will increase the damage, accuracy and PEN of this attack, and when you crit (which you often will), swift flurry and heartbeat drumming will often proc attacks with your main weapon, the great sword, which will hit hard due its lashes.1 point

Eh...it's probably not very easy to search for just "memories" in the off-topic section, to be fair - easier for me when I can make it search for just my own posts because I knew I mentioned it a few times, . Actually, I pretty much refuse to ever search for anything unless I know whose post I'm searching for - the search results are way too chaotic if you don't enter a post author. Kon's Tokyo Godfathers, Perfect Blue, and Millennium Actress are even better than his Magnetic Rose, IMO...but I still love Magnetic Rose - dark and atmospheric/moody/oppressive sci-fi is really my ideal sci-fi.1 point

What if raids were a thing were red ants attack your base, probably based on where your sleeping area is or the workbench you use the most. You would be warned of a raid because there will be a drizzle that day that is implied to wash the ants out of the ant hill which is why they are being aggressive the following night.1 point

Well, I play patfinder since 2012/13 or so? I really do not remember, and I love math, and I have same type of friends. So we kind of enjoy that large walls of numbers And I fully understand, that some people might hate it, but for me D&D5 and PF2 feels kind of numb compared to PF1 and D&D3.5 ... Dunno, maybe something's wrong with me and my friends1 point

I played NWN2 many times, but I would consider my 3.5e knowledge to be basic. I always found it to be convoluted and not rewarding to learn - complicated but not complex kind of design. Pathfinder seemed to be on another level, with illogical exceptions, spells requiring one very particular counterspell (which is normal for D&D but becomes unweildy due to how much junk like that Pathfinder had). I suppose the downside of Kingmaker for me was it's determination of testing player's encyclopedic knowledge of Pathfinder while other D&D and D&D-like titles are more interested in campaign allowing lack of understanding of the system to slide. Heck, playing PoE1 on Hard, I wasn't forced to dive deep into the systems until I started to tackle hardest, optional encounters in the game. It helps that in PoEd figuting an encounter was saved for elite encounters - rewarding narratively and item wise. Pathfinder required it for a trash encounter, that then it would copy paste throughout 3 levels of a dungeon.1 point

no. the kobold gave you advice pre drezen and is our guess you are supposed to intuit the importance of returning to him. no invitation. am recollecting his decree requires 21 days to complete, so is a significant amount of time invested and am believing it may be a leadership advancement prerequisite. even if not a prereq per se, am guessing is near impossible to achieve leadership five w/o completing the decree. no doubt most folks who completed the beta return to the kobold w/o a second thought, but for a person playing wotr for the first time, is an easily overlooked task. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Too many painful playoff losses combined with too much stupid off the field crap has made me empathize even more with @ShadySands' point of view on the NFL, I think. More than anything, I'm just relieved that it's finished - don't have to worry about it any longer, it's done and over with. This season, I at least had the vestigial excitement from early on into the year to just barely keep me going, but I'm not going to have that next year, even if Rodgers were to return and keep playing at an MVP level - I just don't have it in me to be excited about this team anymore. I think I need a long, multi-year break from the NFL. Maybe by the time I want to come back, the Packers will be terrible and there'll be no point in caring at all anyways.1 point

Well, in part 2 of JoJo an expert in hamon (basically a magic martial art thing that exploded vampires) lived there, so maybe not from 1920-1940 or so. But Venezia would be a cool place to live regardless. Unless you were something damaged by water, like the God emperor worm in Dune. But that would be something ****ty to be anyway, what kind of **** wants to turn into a worm?1 point

I believe the Kaylessa/Forn Autumn Gaze story was another backer quest, which might explain why it doesn't 100% jive with Pathfinder's background. If you so happened to bring a certain companion to the random event you do get a moment of surprising empathy:1 point

Well......we could just poke the ox beetle with a splinter and see what happens. Or sneak up on the (spoiler) wolf spider and tap him on the shoulder....ah, no......hit him with the new and improved lvl 9 Antlion Greatsword and see which method ends in our swift demise the fastest. Death by no stamina. Or Death by slow mode. Your choice. I prefer to remained in total bliss and utter ignorance of all things violent and stupid. Now, I'll have to go visit Charlie (the wolf spider) and warn him of the sad news. Hate to. He gets so grumpy when someone interrupts his nap. (SIGH) But what are friends for?1 point

You can. The power of grenades scales with the explosive skill. It's not terribly effective but it can be a good additional source of dmg and CC. Just keep in mind that explosives are consumables - so throwing bombs left and right non-stop can be expensive.1 point
-
well they did nerf the antlion sword in the ptr. right now it does less damage at lvl 9 than it did at lvl 7 in the hot and hazy update and is even more expensive to upgrade. something this poll clearly shows that players don't want, but they did it anyway.1 point

I found it interesting, that I found PoE systems to be transparent and intuitive enough for me to enjoy the game (though the game does have some deeper oddities that could be ironed out), while I find Pathfinder to be incredible obtuse and confusing and a chore to play.1 point

It was fine to play three years ago. The expanded White March content vastly improved the game, although the final chapter was still not as good as the rest IMO. The only thing lacking was the character build system of PoE2.1 point

I backed the second game, but still have yet to play it. I just barely finished the first. At the risk of sounding like a filthy casual gamer, the mechanics was a bit more than I wanted to deal with in the first game and all through the production of Deadfire it just seemed like they doubled down on the mechanics. It seems to work well for some people, but it made the game feel a bit of a chore to me.1 point

For me, Pillars' biggest misstep was the ungodly amount of filler battles you had to suffer through. Also, there were so many enemies that would teleport around the battlefield that tactical positioning of your meat shields to protect your squishies was meaningless. Also also, I don't remember if tank classes had aggro pulling skills, but if they did then they weren't worth a damn, because I surely would have used them and I couldn't hold aggro on my tanks.1 point

Correct, I was talking about penetration only though (because that's what was specifically asked for). So what I basically meant was that Arcane Archer's penetration works just fine (like any Ranger's) besides the penetration of the damaging imbue effects. The imbue effects don't scale properly with Power Level. But projectile count will scale with the Minor Missile imbue. For example I just fired Imbue: Minor Missiles with a lvl-9 Shepherd and then with a lvl-20 Shepherd. Projectile count rose from 4 (3 is base) to 6. Didn't test duration lately but damage still doesn't seem to scale at all for Missiles, Fireball and Death Ring. The Imbue effects do not suffer from the usual dmg malus of jumps. Jumps (from Driving Flight etc.) make up for the non-scaling damage. The imbue effects get the same ACC from Arcane Archer's Arcana skill and the level bonus as the initial weapon shot gets. So for example my aforementioned lvl-9 Sheperd gets +24 ACC from level for both (shot + imbue effect). At lvl 20 both get +54 ACC. The imbue effects won't profit from stuff like Marksman and Rune Bolts (Spearcaster) and other stuff that's closely tied to weapon-only attack rolls. Shootist from Acina's Tricorn works (for everything as usual). PS: it seems that the pulsings of Binding Web and Pull of Eora suffer the -5 ACC penalty of Arcane Archer which he usually gets for non-elemental and non-imbue abilites. It seems that once the shot is released the effects are not flagged as imbue/elemental anymore. That's an odd oversight.1 point
