  2. Its been a couple of years now but I keep coming back to POE and POE2 Deadfire. I especially enjoy Deadfire and I'm perplexed as to why it wasn't more popular. Eora is a brilliantly fleshed out world with a very real and believable level of story charater and depth. The main plot is subdued and subtle like a good film rather than the typical over the top epic where you are the centre of the universe. While you can smash your way through the main story fairly quickly, the world itself gives great sense of scale, everytime I play it I find some extra lil thing that I missed the previous play through, or interacts differently because of history choices or disposition. Its remarkably rewarding. I like the story book style scripted interactions they create a narritive feel. I also like the ship combat, its fun, simple but fun. Its also different and something that I haven't seen in a iso RPG before. I think its great and for those that don't it has the option to bypass it, so you're not even forced to partake in it if you don't want to. As a principi pirate though I go around raiding every merchant I can find. People hate on it and I just don't get why. Yeah it could have been something more complex or compelling but its a side game not the main event and does that role well. Deadfire stands out in particular because its not the typical fantasy tropes. High fantasy suffers from a lord of the rings obsession. Tolkien was great but the fantasy genre has been so tied up in re-creating it that games are almost an insufferable collection of tired cliches at this point. Deadfire's setting is refreshing. I wish there were more fantasy games set in an age of exploration type world. (Greedfall is another that comes to mind). I get there are some pitfalls with this setting as a lot of the inequalities in the world were born out of the age of colonialism. How is this any different though from the slavery, exploitation and religious oppression of the dark ages where most high fantasy is set. When done well it creates a compelling and conflicted world that Eora has captured beautifully. The factions are all very believable. The idea of a mobile stronghold in the form of your ship is great too and I just wish there were more uncharted islands to find, explore and name. I'd love to see POE 3 but given how POE2 was recieved it probably won't happen and that really bums me out because frankly pillars of eternity 1 and 2 are the best RPG games I've played since BG1, 2 and IWD. I just wanted to post up a thanks for an awesome game and say don't give up on it because I'd love to see more isometric adventures set in the world of Eora.

  4. I doubt that MS wants to see the use of Unity3D again - but maybe they don't care. Performance-wise it's not the best choice for such a big game with so many components/prefabs etc. Maybe one can polish this up, I'm not an expert with Unity3D, only dabbled around with it. But they should def. write down the systems/mechanics they had in Deadfire into a dev's handbook. They feel really good right now (for the biggest part) and it would be a shame if somebody thought the wheel has to be reinvented yet again. There could be more interaction between effects (like affliction/inspiration but also truly and more cleanly implemented for fire/water poison/antidote and so on) and generally a bit cleanup (see stacking of Mirrored Images + Moonwell/Refreshing Defense/Llengrath's Safeguard and so on, modals being actives etcpp). But besides that I would love to see them focus on everything else but not systems again.

  5. yeah, i unironically put deadfire as probably my pinnacle video game RPG. i keep hoping that someone internally cracks the puzzle of low initial sales and inspires MSFT to invest a bit of money into poe3, before current mindshare of poe2's engine becomes stale. they already did so much of the work on the engine, they could spend a lot more time on the design and the polish and get great value out of it (much like how WotR leverages a bunch of work owlcat did with P:K or bioware did with the successive dragon age games). Even *within* Deadfire, you can tell how much more they were able to do with the engine just based on the DLC alone - I thought FS had some great set pieces both for combat (I really loved the positioning challenges of the security system fight, for example) and dungeon-exploring, way past anything in the base game. Even BoW (the first DLC) had just a much better design sense and a tighter narrative than the base game.

  6. I always do POTD + Upscaled. Often with Galawain's Challenge too. I haven't noticed that anything has been too overly difficult. Oh don't get me wrong I wipe sometimes and there are some very challenging fights. But usually after a little perseverance and some better use of consumables etc I manage. The beginning tends to be the most difficult. Once you get into the upper teens and start finding the powerful equipment things aren't so bad aside from some select fights in the DLCs. And for my part some fights can get annoying when I fight a tough beast type enemy which rolls an annoying effect with Galawain's challenge but I enjoy it anyhow

  7. Hej community! I'm totally new so please forgive me if I did anything wrong I could not find an answer to this via google. If I use Barbaric Blow with Serafen (pure barbarian) I do not deal damage in an area. If I attack with a weapon attack I do deal damage in an area. I am using the "Spine of Thicket Green", a two-handed quarterstaff. Why does Barbaric blow not do Carnage damage in an area?

  8. I finished Ys 9 almost a month ago. Great game and as with all the Ys games, you don't have to play the prior games to understand what's going on. Then I replayed the Witcher. And then the Witcher 2. And now I'm on the Witcher 3. I think the first is my favorite despite all the problems.

  9. What do you think about Form of the Helpless Beast ? "Transforms a single kith enemy (aumaua, dwarf, elf, godlike, human, or orlan) into a pig. The pig has very poor defenses but can move quickly. " according to the description, however the ennemy transformed keep their defenses and his health. Even confused, I cant target one of my char, and when the spell is reflected by an hostile wizard, my caster is not transformed. I try that for watch what happen in Status Effects screen, but I cant, Im not affected. Is the spell bugged for everyone? If not, maybe that can be arranged in BPM ? (At the beggining, I would to transform Furrante and everyone else in pig to dumb them for easy CC )

  10. am at threshold with our azata sorc and have learned a few new things along the way. there remains a number o' azata spells which continue to function wrong. example: believe in your self should provide a morale bonus to a single ability-- +1 for each 4 caster levels. unfortunate, is providing +1 for each four azata levels. also, the dc generated for azata spells is wonky and while the spells ignore sr, they frequent provide a save so those dcs are important. unfortunate, feats and abilities which ordinarily raise dc o' spells do not appear to work proper when generating azata dcs, but more on that in a minute. there is also azata spells which do not appear on most on-line guides for mythic spells. the aforementioned believe in your self shows up infrequent in lists which perhaps do little more than replicate the following: https://forum.owlcatgames.com/t/complete-mythic-spell-lists-beta/36196 if you have discovered ways to exploit skill checks and you didn't go the trickster route, then azata offers nice bonuses. is a rest bonus from sleeping at the azata "stronghold" which provides a +2 luck bonus for one hour, but is functional permanent. is also a spell, moral support, one o' the spells not showing on many guides for azata, which provides a significant skill and saving throw bonus which stacks with everything. at release moral support was lasting seconds per mythic level as 'posed to minutes, but it now works as described. waterfall sounds groovy, but in practice it is current a trap. when waterfall is cast, those who fail a fort save become vulnerable to cold damage for X minutes where X is the caster's mythic level. nice. waterfall is a conjuration spell and Gromnir took every mundane and mythic feat which impacted conjuration dcs, but those feats n' such do not impact azata spells as far as we can tell. nevertheless, we do not regret having sosiel taking one level of crossblood sorc for the cold spells. is a shield which provides +1 per die cold damage. is hide armour from wintersun which provides +1 per die elemental damage. take water and silver dragon for one level o' crossblood sorc and you benefit from conversion o' all energy spells to cold and another +1 cold damage per die. through mythic you may also add another bloodline, which should be another +1 per die cold damage. as such, sosiel's stormbolts is doing an additional +80 cold damage. sosiel doesn't have great dex, but is no reason you cannot boost his touch attacks so they hit even demon lords. hellfire rays, if such don't bother you too much from a rp pov, represent 45 hd o' damage, so that +4 per die mod becomes 180 bonus cold damage. no doubt the following is a "duh" kinda observation anybody who played azata deep into the game, but aivu becomes an incredible late game healer. is one reason am able to switch sosiel's focus to damage output. in the beta we had aivu through act iv and the dragon was great for dealing sonic damage, but the last few tiers o' spellcasting genuine transform aivu into a fantastic healer, which gives the dragon something useful to do while its breath weapon recharges. not an azata thing per se, but a divine hunter lann's velociraptor celestial animal companion is an absolute wrecker from midpoint o' the game onwards. the velociraptor is unique in that it gets a 14 charisma. why? *shrug* also, while the critter is 'posed to get one use of smite evil per day, the smite is actual usable once per encounter. with eagle splendor you are benefitting from a per encounter +4 smite ability, and is ways to raise further. the raptor gets a significant number o' attacks and on a charge attack is highly possible it functional renders a foe prone. we just completed the laughing caves encounter and lann's velociraptor dispatched the balor solo in one round, and only one attack were a successful critical. HA! Good Fun!

  12. After finally acquiring 100 million gold and defeating 10,000 enemies, I have finished my third playthrough of Fairy Fencer F on PS3. This time, I have unlocked Eryn's Ending, and with it, I have obtained the Platinum Trophy as well . I have arrived in final dungeon after just few days of playing, but to get the Platinum, I had to do loads of farming at the Shukesoo's Tower top floor, to get enough gold to get one crazy trophy. It became pretty boring fast so I spent more than 7 months playing the game for one or two hours in a week, while playing other games. If I do not count this grind, the game was fun enough, to play it three times .

  13. 'ccording to a university film class we took an admitted long time in the past, family movies offer studios the most predictable positive roi. go figure. also, having met a few actors and actresses, our personal experience suggests more is like jim carey than you might want to believe, but they does a better job o' hiding their eccentricities than mr. carey... 'cause they are actors. high functioning l00ns. complete aside, for many students, particular at large public universities employing chronic overworked counselors, is frequent the case there is one bs class you need take to fill an inexcusably unexpected requirement to graduate on-time, and the film class were our desperation class. turned out being kinda fun and we don't regret enrolling, but we threw a rather immature and thankful private fit when we discovered we needed the extra class to graduate. HA! Good Fun!

  14. Episode 7 of Kitten Samurai: The first 5 minutes of this episode were Myao trying to get the attention of a handsome samurai flying a kite on a beach. Why is he flying a kite? Well, that's what she wants to know - turns out, it's because he's a little bit of a scientist as well, and is trying to collect the energy of a lightning bolt from the kite into some sort of contraption he's made. He tries to explain how lightning works to Myao, but it's futile because she's simply too dumb - she keeps trying to relate basic concepts that she does know to the things he's saying, but literally everything she thinks is all wrong. The next scene is of her then trying to explain electricity to Ran and saying it's essentially a miracle solution for everything, . (e): Episode 8 of Sake Hunter Ran: Myao broke her neck. ...As you can see. Yup, that's the episode premise.

  15. Dunno, he also claimed there's mercury in vaccinations (I always get a good laugh out of people claiming that organic mercury compounds like Thiomersal are dangerous BECAUSE MERCURY OH MA GAWD!), so at the very least he's been treading dangerously close to the abyss a while ago. Would not be surprised if he jumped off the deep end at some point. Yeah, fun thing that stuff with compounds, huh. Sodium is corrosive and highly flammable, and chlorine is pretty dangerous stuff when it's not used as miracle cure against every illness on the planet, and yet, ever tried living without sodium chloride? No? Yeah, thought so too. *sigh*

  16. Not going to lie, I hoped for an actual hardware upgrade that leads to more stable frame rates* and I never would have upgraded to the OLED Switch if I still had my old one. The new dock has a LAN port now that I can't use (no cables anywhere near the TV, that wasn't a thing way back when), not even that is helpful. Emulation... yeah, for that I would need to emulate a hardware upgrade, so that's sorta out of the question. *Well, maybe they are. It's nominally the same hardware, but it is more efficient, so core temperatures should be lower. There's a chance the little hickups in games like Celeste are gone or at least lessened in docked mode - if they come from hardware issues at all. While I love Celeste, that game has no right to stutter and frame drop even on something as weak as the Switch. I can probably find out by tonight, but I'm more likely to try SMT V than Celeste. I've been sitting on that game for a while, unable to play. Heh.

  19. I went with Einhard since I misread what was on the character chart that Mr. Tiddies used (there it's not very helpfully Einhalt and a bit small, so my brain made Einhard out of it), but in the show it's really Einhart, but I also edited that in at some point. I edited that post like fifteen times. edit: The episode title has her full name: So technically, that's Ainharuto Sutoratosu, Japanese being what it is.

  20. I need like...a "LMAO" emoticon. Let me search the Steam community market real quick here... Is it "Einhart" or "Einhard"? You spelled it the latter way twice, then the former like four times. I'm pretty sure Einhart is like an ancient male Germanic name...

  21. I caved and ordered an OLED Switch for myself, my mother can keep my old Switch. It should arrive today. Not an upgrade I expect to get much use out of since I play docked most of the time, but hey, no point in buying a new old Switch when the price difference is this small. I'm also kind of hoping that the WLAN module in the new Switch is better, because the WiFi on the old one is a bit spotty.

  22. Well... Nove has a fight with Heidi who so totally is not the adult form of future Vivio girlfriend Einhard. Not something I figured out by guessing though. There are not a lot of characters with heterochromia on the show, and "Heidi" is one of them, and Einhard from the chart has the same eye color. Heidi is looking for Ixveria, Flame King of Hades. Sure. Works for me. This is Nove's combat form in StrikerS: I'm a Dr. Light type robot. Well, cyborg, in StrikerS, but yeah, I used to be friends with Mega Man and Zero! ViVid turns her into this: Hello, I'm Nove, and I'll be your waitress at Hooter's today. Are you ready to order? Nothing can excuse Pegasus. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Speaking of Pegasus, YouTube suggested I watch a "Sailor Moon Iceberg" video. Curious, I started watching, then I got lucky, the guy said "Haruka and Michiru are the second best power couple of Sailor Moon, after Pegasus and Chibi-Usa.", so I turned off the video and removed it from my YouTube history so I never accidentially run into an incomplete progress bar that makes me click back into it. This is going to bother me for a while, but I'm not watching that. No way. Come at me, brain, you'll not win this time I hope. Back to ViVid:

  24. Yes, I really enjoyed my last Aloth iteration with him, the Phantom and two Blackbows (+Helm of the White Void). It's so impactful and so easy to script for AI, too. I tend to forget my Aloth after he cast his initial spells and for a pure caster it's hard to set up non-annoying AI imo. But this is so easy and it just wrecks nearly all enemies. It's even effective against RES-resistant foes. Not being able to use offensive abilities ist still a great debuff.

  25. I actually value Meteor Storm over Minoletta's Missile Salvo. It works the same with Unstable Coil etc. but does a lot more overall dmg, has a bigger AoE and is boostable with fire PL (of which you can stack a lot). I also think Storm of Holy Fire is very good for the same reasons - and it's PL7. As soon as Xoti reaches PL 7 it's a different approach to encounters all of a sudden - at least in my case. Their biggest drawback is the fire-only dmg. But for the Priest it's PL 7 (so enough alternatives to cast) and Wizards have Grimoire - so plenty of alternatives to choose from really. The symbol spells' biggest advantage is - imo - that they are foe-only and sometimes have a nice support effect for allies at the same time. You basically cast two spells at once which is a lot better than most players think initially I guess (I mean in terms of action economy mostly). Honestly, I think that is how all PL 8/9 should feel like. There should be a price to pay for multiclassing. And I don't only mean in terms of power/impact/mechanics but also in terms of coolness and the "I want" factor. PL 8 and 9 shoukd really make you sit down and think twice whether you really want to multiclass or go for single class. Priests and Wizards and also Druids achieve that (not the spiritshift part unfortunately, that's sharts for SCs)... Monks, too I think. And that's because of their powerful but also "cool" PL 8/9 stuff. The other classes... mnyeah... Rogue maybe - but only if you really understood how Gambit and/or Vanishing Strikes work and then you'd still be hard-pressed to pick SC Rogue imo because the possibilities and the "coolness" for multiclassing are/is so vast. Barbs are also an edge case. As much as I love Driving Roar and especially the Blood Ward... it's a bit much to forego the fun of mukticlassing a Barb just because of Driving Roar - which then kind of forces you to play a Barb like a ranged caster of sorts (same is true for the exploding fire axe... wtf, hehe) . But weird and maybe also a bit offputting for the classic Barb lover who just wants to smash - but with a boom. This also has something to do with VFX and audio in my case. If it has awesome effects - like most high tier spells have - I just want to use it. WotW with Mortars for example is just so moch fun to watch. Gambit on the other hand - while really good - ist just not that spectacular. Then you cast a Missile Salvo and holy **** you unleash Hel on Eora with visuals and sound and it's awesome!

  27. I kind of got lucky, becase the second half of the episode was okay, except for Vivio's voice direction. It's also never going to change the transformation sequence, I guess, so the only hope is that they didn't use it that often. Last season's cyborg villain squad have taken up various jobs, and some are serving at the Heiliger Kaiser Church. Vivio visits a character that everyone is apparently familiar with but is new, someone called Ixy, who is either in a magical whatever sleep or in a coma. Thanks, Nanoha wiki. Yeah, I don't really want to listen to a Japanese audio drama. Not that I could. Not even sure I ever will, to be honest, but that's neither here nor there. The episode helpfully ends with a cliffhanger as Nove is ambushed by a mysterious figure. Well, next episode will finally have some action, I guess.

  31. in terms of balance, it's kind of wild the damage power curve that happens for priests upon unlocking tier 8 spells. the same thing happens with maelstrom and minoletta, but at least those are on classes/in spell schools that you *expect* to do lots of aoe damage.

  32. I was kidding, mostly, I actually wanted to catch that in the theater with a friend of mine because it looked like really entertaining trash, but then things just shut down forever and ever. Doesn't sound like it was entertaining trash, though. The Game (1997): Michael Douglas plays an **** investment banker, which is a role he's pretty good at. Read the blurb, if that sounds at all interesting stop, because it's a bit like The Usual Suspects and relies heavily on not knowing what's going on. Any spoilers would be really detrimental for a first experience. David Fincher knows how to make movies, even if Alien³ turned out to be a little on the weaker side. Came out after Se7en.

  35. Episodes 5 and 6 of Meow & Ran: Men are completely and utterly worthless in this show. I'm O.K. with that, given that it's obviously a semi-girly play on these kinds of male-dominated swordplay/martial arts action shows, . I don't really have any major complaints about the show (besides that it's perhaps just as formulaic as Sailor Moon is even with some mild twists and turns, ) and I've kinda grown to like these two dummies even as oddball as they and this show are, so I guess I'll be finishing the show for sure.

  36. Episode 4: Myao ("meow"?), the retarded martial artist, is on the road and starving to death, comes across a traditional Shinto shrine, appears to pray to the Christian god for sustenance and gives the offering box her last coin, then realizes her error in stupidly giving up her last coin when she could've at least bought SOMETHING to eat with it, kicks open the offering box in a rage and then steals its contents...just so that she can find a map that was stuffed into the box by a man that had being chased and subsequently killed by bandits a little bit earlier precisely for said map. Yeah, it's that kind of show: trash! (e): Okay, actually, I posted too soon: this was surprisingly averted in a not trashy way - in fact, the entire episode was actually pretty good. Hm, maybe? At least unlike Nanoha, it doesn't have literally like 15 seasons and 40 movies or whatever it was that I counted out that one time - I probably wouldn't keep watching because while it's enjoyable enough as a chance of pace from other stuff, that wouldn't really be good enough to watch over the next 20 years of my life like you'll be doing with Nanoha, . See? I told you! Although from what you actually said about it, it was really just okay with a helping of sweet ambivalence. Big improvement over the previous disaster, though. Ick. At least Mari's just a gross character instead of a gross person.

  37. Diamond is Unbreakable 1-2: JoJo4 vs Angelo For being an attempt at a more light hearted JoJo, it sure starts off with an edgy creep for a villain. Josuke's Mom is different than Holly. Aqua Necklace is a pretty terrifying stand when you think about it. But it gets defeated with a plastic glove. Which is probably the most JoJo thing. Until Josuke punches Angelo so hard he turns into a rock.

  38. I wasn't expecting any new info at the Game Awards to be honest. The game was announced at E3 and I suspect the next time we see it will be at E3. Microsoft owns both Obsidian Entertainment AND Bethesda Game Studios. We already know that Starfield is coming on 11.11.22. Not wanting to split sales between the two games, I expect we will get a release date for Avowed during E3 2022 and it will be aiming for release around Q1/Q2 2023. On the bright side, if that's remotely accurate, then we're only 6 months away from seeing some gameplay. The downside is we may be waiting a year and a half or longer to... play... some gameplay.

  41. I got a promotion a couple of months ago at work. Barely a pay upgrade (partially due to the fact that I was already being paid more than people who were above me due to experience), but the work load... I've heard people talk about getting promoted and finding themselves having less to do, but I never thought I'd see it. I've spent the last decade of my life feeling overworked or anticipating regular crises and now I fear I may only feel that way two months out of the year. I enjoy the work, too. It's payroll data entry, but there's just enough playing with poorly designed computer systems and basic algebra to keep me from falling asleep when there's actual work to do.

  42. BPM provides Incarnate summons with Legendary weapons. Pallid Knight is a fighter, and having only normal weapons mean she was useless. The other summon is a SC fully scaled priest so it helps less. BPM reduces the duration of Incarnate of Berath because 2 for price of 1 was too good. With BPM, the PL penalty is lesser but lasts longer. The usher should appear too. It was tested and worked. By the way, Symbols are basically the best Tier 8 damages spell of the game. Period. Only tier 9 Maelstrom ans Minoletta can compare. But you get only one cast of them without support. Symbols being no friendly fire is also very cool.
