She's home and doing better. They aren't sure what caused it but they ruled out all the most dangerous stuff. My cousin also went home today and she's doing good. We're having a pretty big spike here so they've approved booster shots for all adults and gone to some level where hospitals can do some different stuff, I dunno, COVID brain fog.8 points

Prometheus Wept is still slugging it out on Kickstarter. 78% funded, with 8 days to go. Looks like it's going to be down to the line I've also made a couple of dev playthroughs of the demo, one showing a simultaneous battle between cyberspace and the physical world. Here you encounter a strange entity in an abandoned underground bunker, and must inject your consciousness into the bunker's network to open the blast door. While you're inside, your ally, a sociopath con man with the ability to manipulate people's mind must defend you from a group of marauders. The other playthrough shows the first combat area in the game, where you are dispatched to restore order in a dilapidated fishing village, who residents have become violently insane. If anyone has any questions or feedback about the game, let me know!3 points

we never commented on the law aspect o' this 'cause, as we always caution, what you don't know has an excellent chance o' making you look like an idjit if you start drawing conclusions based on what you believe to be true. you folks is no doubt bored o' our repetition on this point, but am gonna once again observe how is always best to wait for facts to come out which may be relevant. however, if a seventeen-year-old illegal acquires a lethal weapon and crosses state lines with the implied (and expressed) intent o' confronting protesters, some o' whom he had to have known could also be armed with lethal weapons, is anybody shocked when the news related to such a story is gonna involve bloodshed? call accident or tragedy ignores how utter predictable is calamity when you add firearms, multiple angry people and a large dose o' stupid. for chrissakes, even @Guard Dog wasn't defending the common sense and reasonableness o' kyle rittenhouse. were never any facts which were gonna come to light which somehow dispelled the recklessness o' kyle rittenhouse. were no facts which revealed were gonna make us more sympathetic save possible discovering kyle were severe mental/emotional impaired and responsible adults encouraged his behaviour as 'posed to discouraged, but that were never the narrative. doesn't matter if the would-be vigilante is guilty or innocent as a matter o' law. the kid is an a-hole who displayed worst possible judgement. is another observation we make frequent regarding people confusing legal with concepts such as moral, justice or right. legal exoneration is not transformative. a bad person does not sudden become admirable 'cause o' an acquittal. less common but still possible is for the moral and right choice to lead to legal punishment. too many people is invested in court verdicts as if such is some kinda barometer o' rightness. bad cop going to prison proves he were bad? if kyle goes free it proves the libs were wrong 'bout the unnecessary dangers o' armed civilian militias confronting protesters? we were never interested in this case 'cause it didn't matter to us. we didn't need for kyle to go to prison as if such would be vindication o' protests. samewise we don't fear acquittal will make mr. rittenhouse less... douchey. seeing as how there is no particular unique or compelling question o' law involved in the case, am current disinterested save for our general disquiet regarding how a derpy punk could become symbolic or emblematic o' a political movement. HA! Good Fun!3 points

The 80's were an interesting time period to be alive. It was more than just great music, weird and flashy fashion trends and outrageous hair styles. It was also the time of the cold war and constant nagging feeling in the back of your head that today may be the last day earth exists. Each and every day. Quite literally. https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p07y7021/the-night-the-world-almost-almost-ended Impending, instant doom is not so much an issue today. More like a crawl towards extinction because of perfectly avoidable reasons. Thank you lieutenant colonel Stanislav Petrov for giving everybody a few more years to live and make new mistakes.3 points

On this day in 1918, a war ended. A war that was all about patriotism and how great your local nation state is. Keep this in mind if you ever cheer on somebody banging the patriot drums, trying to summon support for a dubious agenda. The promises of patriotism... The lure of patriotism... The dawning reality of patriotism... The reality of patriotism (warning, reality is not pretty, in fact, it's brutal, gruesome and visually disturbing)2 points

Steamworld Dig 2 is currently free for 24 hours on Steam and GOG. It's a really good game, snatch it up if you don't already own it.2 points

A little game called Dig 2 is the current GoG freebie through tomorrow morning: https://www.gog.com/game/steamworld_dig_2 Although if you prefer Steam, it's free there too. https://store.steampowered.com/app/571310/SteamWorld_Dig_2/ I may grab it and check it out. Not typically into 2D/platformers at all but it looks kinda cute/fun.2 points

Yup. You don't really start seeing a lot of people going hatless when outdoors in old photos until the mid-to-late 50s. My understanding is as more modes of transportation and buildings were being climate controlled, it led to hats, scarfs and gloves declining in popularity as functional items, as you weren't spending the majority of your time at the mercy of the outdoor temperature. I think some hats as business attire and for fashion took longer to winnow away.1 point

Huh, hat wearing had almost 100% market share in 1918.1 point

I only played Darksiders 1&2 and those are not Dark Souls type games. I mean both titles draw inspiration from Zelda so there is some minimal overlap. Darksiders3, however, I am told draws quite a bit from Dark Souls - also people generally didn't like that one.1 point

White Mage is a character class/job originally from Final Fantasy, I think. A healer and support type spellcaster that's pretty much in every JRPG ever. Classical turn based JRPGs, that is. In something like Secret of Mana you just have the girl character with her support and healing magic, and nothing of the sort in Terranigma or Illusion of Gaia. This is a White Mage from Bravely Default 2, a swordmaster and an, uhm, what was that guy again, some divine caster (Spiritmaster). More like a priest from World of Warcraft, just without a damage skill tree. Western styled RPG clerics are usually not complete wet noodles in combat and don't just wear decorative night gowns in battle.1 point

The quest is Lv 4 so I think that would be appropriate for the encounter as well.1 point

This could be one reason. Also they could set an upscale limit to avoid things like lvl 20 young boar or something like this: I remember that spike in difficulty and can include that. Am thinking about setting EncounterLevel to 4 or 5.1 point

It's about a young man who normally hangs out with his alt right friends and local white supremacy militia men, who decided that somebody in another state, far away was doing something wrong. So, of course he had to bring his semi automatic rifle, because you know, that protects buildings against graffiti and helps little old ladies cross the road or something. Alternatively, he brought it with the intent to kill people and impress his local militia friends by being a tough guy standing up for "American" values, killing people who are unhappy with the police killing a disproportionate number of unarmed black people. They have to be communists after all. That's what Trump says. So killing them is fair game. Now he's sobbing in court, probably feeling butt hurt and absolutely flabbergasted that he would be charged. After all, the only thing he did was kill un-American dross.1 point

The situation is a lot better here now. 73% of the population is vaccinated. 57% are considered "completely immunized", having received 2 or 3 doses. As bad as things once were, we do have some advantages like an anti-vaxx crowd not that big in Brazil. We don't even have protests from them. I was working from home until the end of October and now that I'm back to the streets daily, I see that most people still wear masks. However, most people seem to think the pandemic is over, so they will be less and less careful as time passes. No known covid deaths. But yes, maybe it happened and it was not registered.1 point

It does look great indeed. I thin my previous question of “what does open world adds to DS formula” was somewhat answered.1 point

I suppose it's liable to not do that, what with the setting. I also imagine real samurai weren't always smelling like sunflowers. It's really heartwarming to see StrikerS continuing A's excessive use of weird German. One of the characters working for the villain of this season just summoned an "Insektzug" which the subtitles helpfully translated as insect platoon. Technically it is not exactly wrong to just combine insect and plattoon, but since a platoon is more than one insect it should be Insektenzug and even that is... odd, to say the least. Zug is a common military term that's barely ever used outside of the military to talk about a group of soldiers and the word Zug has a whole lot of meanings depending on the context, just as long as something moves or pulls (to pull / ziehen, Zug is essentially the substantive of ziehen, literally also the pull) something it can probably be a Zug - e.g. trains, a chess move would be a Schachzug (Schach = Chess), a draft is a Luftzug, the rifling in a, uhm, rifle, is also a Zug, and so on. Migratory birds are Zugvögel. Moving from one place to the other is an Umzug. Weird use of words is weird, I mean, and that's not even touching the other potential uses for Zug - a mountain range is a Gebirgszug for instance, and a character trait is a Charakterzug. Picking Kompanie (company) isn't the same because a Kompanie is at least two Züge, however... really, like, easier to understand the intention behind it. Insektzug sounds like a bad way to say Ameisenstraße (ant trail), really. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS episode 7 So far it looks like there'll be actual character development. I thought the extra runtime would be dedicated to stupid action and fanservice, but that's only part of it. I thought the first two seasons were okay to likeable, by far and large (except when the first one wasn't). This is currenlty on its way to being actually good. I just hope they don't mess it up.1 point

Hah, they picked the most nationalistic state in this part of EU. Putin knew what he is doing. He is making sure that anti-EU, anti-woke, super conservative party will stay in power in Poland, by stoking border fears and weaponizing various migrants. Personally, I'm a bit torn apart. On a one hand, what those people experience is often inhumane. On the other hand, they chose such a route instead of using regular ways for asylum seekers with use of consulates at countries such as Iraq or Turkey or even Iran. I'd open a series of small border post, where people would get processed and accept in the christian syrians and kurds as those are oppressed in their home country. Accept also full families from Syria and Afghanistan, and send the rest back to the country of origin (especially young, single men). Those, who cannot be vetted at such posts and dont want to be sent back to any middle east country, send back to Belarus.1 point

should who has control o' Congress matter? if were a tornado that hit the Capitol on January 6 and hundreds o' police officers and civilians were injured, some serious, there would be investigations. nevertheless, 'cause is deemed political and potential embarrassing to one party, the fate o' investigations dependent on a small number o' votes in a handful o' states? more remote but still concerning, why should criminal investigations stop for trump if he gets reelected? is nothing actual in the Constitution which says such, but from a practical pov, is not deemed advisable to have a criminal trial o' a sitting President. so trump gets away with anything and everything based on the votes o' the electorate? potential a few thousand votes in a couple states decides guilt or innocence? is exact what the founders were trying to avoid when they s-canned athenian democracy as the model for the Constitution. your question is irrelevant to our observation, or it should be. edit: this has so not been a they are all the same scenario. Well, dems are in a path of losing midterms badly, and they have no-one else than themselves to blame for it. Printed money, excessive debt, leading to inflation. Crazy energy politics, which is disconnected from the reality, and drives energy prices higher. Mishandling of migrant crisis at southern border (Kamala's first misstep as well!) Self flaggelanting on historical aspects to a point of condeming founding fathers. Suburb mothers realizing that supporting dems will lose their children equal opportunity treatment (segregation of score thersholds by race, dems telling parents they should have no agency on what their kids are being learnt in regards to identity politics, allowing trans biological males to push out biological females from sports) Hypocrisy on virus policies and actions (politicians unmasked on various social events while forcing working class out of jobs) And hypocrisy on climate policies, by letting billionairs produce more carbon footprint with a single entertainment spaceflight, than majority of people would produce in their lifetime, etc. Making it look like they and their rich friends are a privilaged class (top 1% produce more carbon footprint than bottom 50%, but you don't see them cutting on international travels, large mansions, large energy consumption, private jets and yachts, etc. )1 point

I like the idea but think they should keep it pretty simple and straightforward. Whenever you find and kill a new creature, the entry gets added and you can see the strengths/weaknesses against it immediately. I think if I had to kill 10 wolf spiders before knowing it's weaknesses then the bestiary would be pretty pointless. For easier creatures, you don't really need to see their weaknesses anyways.1 point

Played a little bit more with the new patch and have encountered a bug in which mounted party members travel far quicker than the rest of the party members while exploring the map, which can be quite annoying when traversing long distances in areas that you've already cleared and can potentially be deadly as on my save mounted Seelah isn't the highest AC member of the party. I vaguely recall there being a tick box that forces all party members to move in formation regardless of movement speed but for the life of me I cannot find it now. There is also a survey by Owlcat floating around gathering feedback and there seems to be a particular focus on the Enigma and Nenio's quest puzzles in the questions. Normally whenever I take part in these when asked to write in my own words what works and what doesn't I leave the box blank due to me being lazy and it not being a requirement for submission, but this time I made sure that Owlcat gets an earful about how tedious, repetitive, and unnecessary the puzzles were on top of the probable damage to my eyesight trying to discern the symbols on the slabs.1 point

I don't particularly mind boobplate. It's about consistency in the art direction. If everyone else in a game is wearing realistic and functional looking armor and suddenly you introduce a buxom babe in a chain bikini, that stands out and warrants criticism. If, on the other hand, everybody is wearing exaggerated, cartoonish, and/or show offy outfits, then a woman wearing a corset as armor doesn't look out of place. Anyway, Pillars had much bigger problems than boobplate, or the lack there of.1 point

Well almost , 1 million is approx 20 minutes now so it will be approximately 7-8 more hours of playtime. I hate 17 games, and I hate 7 post-season teams. 16 and 6 was so much more mathematically pleasing, plus it used to be that two teams got a bye, now the #1 seed has an overwhelming advantage compared to all the other teams when #1 seeds were already representing their conference at too high of a rate...ergh. NFC is very top-heavy this season, although this week did some pretty serious damage to that with the Packers (lmao), Rams, Cowboys, and Saints (double lmao) all losing.1 point

I like backtracking in a game, metroidvania or otherwise, so long as there is no level scaling. Coming back to an earlier area much more powerful and slicing through everything like a hot knife through butter is a fun power fantasy for me.1 point

After some discussion about rare items in the Character Build forum, I noticed something odd about Una's Luxuries store in Serpent's Crest and did some investigating about how her shop inventory is being generated, especially compared to the shop inventory of The Treasure Trove in the Radiant Court (links go to three separate posts of mine in that thread). I think Una's Luxuries is supposed to have a chance of selling rare gems like Adra Ban, Sapphires, and Rubies (as well as Amber and Emeralds), but she isn't for some reason. This wouldn't be an issue, except when it comes to shops, Adra Ban, Sapphires, and Rubies can only theoretically be bought at her store. All of the other rare gems like Black Pearls, Amber and Emeralds can be bought elsewhere, so I think there might be some sort of bug/oversight going on for reasons I go into below. Long, very technical explanation of what I am seeing follows in a spoiler box: ------ If Una's Luxuries isn't supposed to sell rare gems, perhaps the design team could consider adding the loot list "Loot_Small_Gems_Tropical" to the TreasureTrove shop in Dunnage, or another shop that has access to high level items. It just seems odd that some very rare gems can be bought, but gems which might be less rare can't be bought. Just calling attention to a possible oversight/unintended design issue where some gems can't be bought in the game.1 point
