  1. Reactions to everything these days get blown waaaaaaay out of proportions. Social media is possibly the worst invention of the last 50 years. I mean, it's a tool, it can be used for good or bad, but in practice the bad has outnumbered the good by several country miles. There have always been extremists on every end of the spectrum, there have always been wackos, and there have always been trolls. In the past, these nut jobs were (mostly) confined to their little corner of the world. They might lose their **** at a town hall meeting, spray paint hateful messages on a wall, or whatever. This would be a headache for the folks living in that community, but that's as far as it usually went, outside of the few disturbed individuals ambitious and charismatic enough to become cult leaders. Social media has provided these lunatics a GIANT megaphone with which to pester the entire planet. Unfortunately, there is a decent chunk of the population that is easily swayed. So you get someone with a strong, possibly incendiary opinion. You have someone else with an equally incendiary reaction. In the past this would be a shouting match somewhere that may end with a fist fight (or worse in extreme cases). That would essentially be the end of it. Now you have scumbag profiteers jumping in online seeking an opportunity to gain power or profit from the conflict, trolls lighting fires on all sides because they get off on chaos, and a bunch of sheep me too-ing (no pun intended) because they are easily manipulated. To make matters worse, social media made all news instantaneous. Gone are the days of investigative journalism and fact checking. You gotta get the story out first. If you're not first you get no views, so just copy & paste that statement that may or may not be a complete fabrication, and post it as quickly as possible. If it turns out to be a lie we'll post a retraction that nobody will read, **** it.

  2. First the Gromnir disclaimer. This image is being posted purely for humorous purposes no actual comparisons are being drawn between the two entities. It’s a freaking joke, laugh at it or don’t. Now then… @HurlshotI figured you’d get a chuckle from this since both are run by the state I guess it’s true what they say. When the only tool you possess as a hammer everything starts to look like a nail!

  6. Just in case you didnt know, thats exactly how property tax works in the US. Not by the minute of course, but property tax assessments are usually performed annually. Ive never seen a situation where the property tax makes it unaffordable for the next buyer but I suppose it could happen in some extreme example.

  9. Im playing Quest for Glory 4, released in 1994, and after about 4 hours I started appreciating it and enjoying. This is a huge breakthrough for me because I only started " gaming properly " in 2007 or so and the first games I played were Morrowind and Gothic 3 so I became use to that level of graphics and gaming design And I have been battling to enjoy and play all the classic older RPG like Gold Box AD&D, Wizardry, Ultima and M&M But now I think I am close to enjoying those games because I dont just expect modern graphics and a game that is aesthetically pleasing ...I am using my imagination more and that is how most people enjoy these older games

  10. For a true win-more crit-fest, add a Sage with Draining Touch, Swift Flurry and Heartbeat Drumming. EDIT: I think that Entrancing Aroma and Hunter of Hunters would also stack for another -18 WILL / -10 FORT. EDIT 2: it would be a really cool way to dispose of enemies if lowering stats below 0 could instakill them like in AD&D IIRC.

  13. Getting gas and coffee (not in that order) and heading south. I took G & B out to dinner last night and it was fun. B seems to like me now so that means things are going well with G. I am quite certain of that already anyway LOL. I hate this drive. It’s only a four hour flight but you can’t go direct. you have to change planes in Minneapolis or Madison. Plus I think 11 hours driving in my truck listening to the radio is preferable to four hours in a flying can next to other humans ugh.

  14. Hello, just a quick discovery I made 5 minutes ago: if you use The Willbreaker with a Wizard and also with the Wizard's phantom you can not only stack 5 instances of "Relentless" (-3 Will per hit) on enemies but actually 2x5 stacks - which results in -30 Will (alongside -25 Fortitude if you use Body Blows of course).* This works really well in combination with Caedebald's Blackbow (I mean if a second Wizard uses it) since it targets Fortitude (weapon dmg) and Will (terrify). The Helm of the White Void applies its bonus to both rolls. In combination with the double Willbreaker dude it's really hard to mess up the Blackbow's shots... )* the Willbreaker also can apply shaken with "Oppressive Fear" which would lower Will even further (-10, stacks with Relentless). Bewildering Blows (-25 Will) also stack with those. Aaand even further down with Miasma...

  16. But they can never cash them out at that value to get that money. If Bezos or Musk would try to sell their whole stock now, they would A) never be able to do so at the current price as there would not be enough buyers at that price B) a sell order of such magnitude would crash the stock in extreme, creating a lot of other stock holders dirt poor or even bunkrupt, as a lot of people use leverage on their investments now. C) Crashing stock market would result in crashing economy as suddenly a huge liquidity vacum would hit all the transactions I reality, a lot of that NET Worth is virtual these days, especially after FED printed trillions of dollars into a system.

  18. It is unfortunately. Why Netflix decided to do weekly after getting everyone used to binge makes no sense to me. And I did not pick up the side text, other than some tiny English characters appearing with them. Oh, and JJBA Battle Tendency 10 and 11. Everything @InsaneCommander said is true, this is much weirder than Phantom Blood and much better. SPACE RIPPER STINGY EYES! Kind of spoilers ahead

  20. Pretty much it) Atm there are 21 entries that need to be edited: https://pillarsofeternity.fandom.com/wiki/Pillars_of_Eternity_II:_Deadfire_grimoires If you feel that there is needed a specific substitute feel free to post here; otherwise I will put what I see fit. That's an interesting idea) But I think this is out of scope for CP.Basic or CP.Extra. I have a lot of ideas for a new package, where I could go more wild; but it all comes to time, effort and desire needed to implement. --- Btw, what if enchanters would just auto-learn grimoire slam and imprint spells, like priest subclasses do? Hmm, I had to actively switch the grimoire to another one, otherwise the stolen spells would disappear on combat end. Afaik it's the same spell, be in in grimoire or learnt by a character. It goes like that: Imprint Ability -> Imprint Attack -> places a hostile SpellSteal statusEffect on the enemy and grants the character a copy of their spell. On combat end or when the enemy is gibbed you lose that copy, but only if you still have the initial Imprint Ability. Even through that ability is kind of no longer needed, I suppose it is used in code to find the owner of effect. It is possible to set a timer on SpellSteal effect. Let's say 20s, and after 20s you lose the stolen spell (without waiting for combat end; or enemy gibbing) But if you didn't have Imprint spell learnt, and switched the grimoire, you will keep the stolen spell. I have tested it. The spell becomes greyed out, but still castable. Feels thematic) It could be part of "Borrowed Instinct". Or a separate power, some kind of "Mind Attunement", to complement the "Body Attunement".

  21. Didn't realize it will stack further than 5 x-3 --- I see Ngati's Tusk was already mentioned. It's great with phantom even just standing there, while wizard himself can switch to Willbreaker. (because two Hunter of Hunters auras don't stack) --- And there is also Shining Beacon for extra -10 to all defenses.

  22. Once you switch the weapon Wild Shot will stop working. Yes - I thought about a Forbidden Fist/Beguiler who could make great use of both the Fortitude and Will debuff. Applying enfeebled, having +10 INT, Lingering Echoes and then casting Puppet Master will give you dominated ads for a very long time, especially if a crit is almost guaranteed because of the superlow Will defense. Or more simple: I recently had a SC Psion on the party and at some point (not too high a level) my focus was flowing in so quickly that I could spam Puppet Master nonstop. She didn't do anything else usually. The duration wasn't as long as you would have with a FF/Cipher, but it was superstraightforward and the action economy was great - as well as the ability to easily script the AI for that character. So simple yet so effective. She usually could keep every normal enemy in the fight dominated (except one who got attacked by everybody else). Now with a FF/Cipher you would need more setup and micromanagement but you would also be a lot more versatile I guess.

  23. I don't think 'average' means what you think it means... Edit: Better use of the word 'average'... The average age of game players is 31 years old. 25. Indeed. I was just discovering this while I tried to build around the bow and figure out some ways to make an SC Wiz bow user more effective. Because during one of my latest playthroughs I found myself using Caedebald's Blackbow (+Phantom) all the time in the late game because it was just more impactful during the longer fights (esp. SSS). With decent INT and attack speed you can perma-terrify up to four enemies. And also with Ring of the Marksman and Spirit of Decay the PEN is pretty, good, too. By the way: without any consumables and party support the Test-SC-Wizard reached 140+ ACC (with normal PER) with the Blackbow. The Phantom 120. Combined with the debuffs it's effective enough for most encounters. Also because you can add another 10 with Devotions. A bit bummed that there is no more Coordinated Attacks for Paladins anymore...

  26. Keeper of the Flame and Ngati's Touch would be great additions, yes. I also tested if those auras will stack when you put them on a phantom, but they will not. Still great because both auras do no hit rolls but the effects just get applied to enemies. I had a party with a Draining Touch/Kapana Taga Sage, a Ngati's Tusk Howler and a Willbreaker Brute not too long ago. Didn't have Keeper of the Flame - but should have. Maybe with Endre's Flog of Obedience on an SC Stalker (Whirling Strikes = AoE Reflex debuff)?

  27. meta, among other aspects, is that which exists above and beyond. "cleverly self-referential." bruce, at best they validated assumption that what zuckerberg wants from you is your metadata. you have nothing to fear from the meta, not because fb is harmless but precisely because you are an individual. insignificant. trivial. maybe you have seen meta compared to the borg. silliness. the borg is interested in that which makes you unique and wants to assimilate you. in your vanity you believe you have something worthy of assimilation. meta doesn't care about you personally or anything which makes you unique-- those qualities and attributes which set you apart are rounding errors. only the algorithm matters. so do not fear the meta, because as an individual you are beneath its notice. hell, they went so far as to choose a version o' ouroboros as their new logo? takes some hutzpah to pair meta name with ouroboros and try and sell a kinder and gentler fb. perhaps zuckerberg gets a limited mass effect license to use one o' the original game characters as a corporate mascot? would be an ideal fit. ... am mostly joking. mostly. HA! Good Fun!

  28. Another odd feature of the spell is that if you cast it successfully on a foe and the foe is gibbed, you lose the imprinted spell. This can be avoided of course by turning off the gibs feature in the game. It thus seems to work like cipher powers such as borrowed instinct that are linked to the body of a particular enemy. Perhaps you could add a timer to the imprinted spell, like the cipher powers all have? The lack of a timer may be the root of the problem. Of course, if you added a timer, it could potentially be extended indefinitely with SoF..... I like the idea of making grimoire imprint a special ability of the enchanter subclass. Perhaps it could be a special ability useable once per encounter? On the other hand, this really should be IMO a cipher ability. The idea of psychic theft seems very cipher-like.

  32. V1 seems like the best solution IMO. Works around the bug without really changing balance issues. a possible alternate idea; tweak enchantment subclass so they get these imprint spells as bonus spells for free (and remove it for everyone else) since bonus PL on enchantment is a bit less good than bonus PL on some other schools. This is if one is fine introducing balance changes as part of the fix.

  35. Something less virtual and closer to home... Australia at COP26 I know I've made the joke before, but Scott Morrison is literally fighting wind mills Don Quixote style, going to great length to sabotage any and all initiative that could lead Australians to turn to renewable energy, including wind, solar and similar energy sources. As for the why doing such a stupid thing, because the fossil fuel industry is one of the three main interest groups currently keeping the Liberal Party afloat (the other two being the mining industry and the church)

  41. Oh, that's a pretty game-breaking exploit xD And unfortunately easy way fixes like setting duration (infinite -> x seconds), or clearing via keyword immunity don't work. Atm I see only 3 non-elegant ways to address it: v1. remove Imprint spells from all grimoires (and substitute with some other spells of corresponding rank) v2. make all wizards auto-learn Imprint spells when they reach respective rank (like bonus spells from priest/druid subclasses) v3. check if it's possible to auto-learn Imprint spells when equipping respective grimoires (not sure if possible; and if it is - it is very tedious) Does anyone see another (hopefully implementable) solution?

  42. There is always that fun quote "England is a country where we have weather. Other countries get to have a climate." Not to be taken too seriously, but the sheer variety and mercurial nature of weather on this isle is a key reason to why the cliche of Brit's talking about the weather is such a big thing.

  44. The impression I got from community feedback was that while WotR was very strong until the end of Act 3 (unremarkable HoMM-style minigame notwithstanding) it had its own <<House at the End of Time>> segment, except that it was expanded to roughly the final 3rd of the game. Slowly making my way through Act 4 solely because I need more and more breaks away from WotR due to how soul-sucking the world navigation mechanics of the Midnight Isles are (a similar mechanic for the House at the End of Time was my most loathed aspect of that segment in Kingmaker) and it drives home my attitude that either Owlcat should have stuck with the fixed perspective of Kingmaker and all the artistic limitations that entails or commit to a NWN/Dragon Age-like camera and movement system. While I could attribute what many perceive to be over-tuned encounters to early-access players consisting almost entirely of folks who knew the Pathfinder system inside and out, the Midnight Isles must have had several passes among developers and internal QA testers before it was pushed out into the backer beta. A big shame because there are quite a few interesting and challenging encounters to be found thus far and plenty of interesting story beats. With the above I'd like to emphasize that my criticisms thus far of WotR (wonky pacing of difficulty, tedious puzzles, and Act 4's world traversal gimmick) come from a place of wanting the game to be all it could be. <<Kingmaker>> in its final form was in my eyes 90% of the way to joining the ranks of BG2, IWD2, NWN2: MotB, and DA: O for my top 5 cRPGs and I backed WotR on the assumption that with experience, taking critical feedback to heart, and a bigger budget Owlcat could make a game that was truly sublime. I started <<Kingmaker>> close to launch and as WotR stands now I consider righting that ship a taller order for Owlcat. Postscript: Realised that with how it ended for me Sosiel's questline was an almost one-to-one retelling of <<the Deer Hunter>>:
