hurl works as a teacher. am assuming at least previous to initial employment he were tested for drugs. quite a few occupations require regular drug testing. commonplace. no more a liberty denial than covid-testing, eh? pee in a cup v. nasal swab? in the US we current do tb tests at local state and fed facilities which has a high likelihood o' tb transmission. you wanna work in such a facility? prerequisite o' employment is you get a miniscule injection and two-to-three days later you need return so a medical practitioner can inspect the injection site to see if you are tb positive. furthermore, if there is a tb outbreak at the facility, chances are you need get regular tb tests. such testing will be accepted at va hospitals, jails, prisons, and is our understanding such tb testing may be done at schools if there is an outbreak. before we began working for county level probation and previous to working at USAO, we had extensive psyche evaluations including a polygraph review. am thinking many law enforcement agencies make psyche evaluations standard, though am not certain how prevalent is polygraph testing. am recalling one o' the questions from a written psyche test asked us 'bout alice in wonderland. the rumour 'mongst applicants were that the question were meant to divine a likely embrace o' drug culture, or somesuch. anyways, when we were done with the verbal portion o' the psyche exam for our us attorney position, the psychiatrist asked us if we had any questions, so we asked 'bout the alice in wonderland question as part o' the written test. we mentioned how we answered honest (we did indeed enjoy alice) but we noted how there were a belief amongst those taking the test the question were linked to drug affinity. the psychiatrist seemed a bit surprised but he said he believed the question were not solo relevant but that collectively it represented a kinda aesthetic preference as 'posed to any kinda drug use susceptibility. regardless, psyche profiles and testing is commonplace in the US and pretty much nobody complains 'cause there is at least a few jobs where being a psychopath is gonna be viewed as a negative. nfl preseason is in full swing. the nflpa has worked extreme hard to avoid olympic standard drug testing, but drug testing is done. physical exams is also common and required as a prereq and for continued employment as an nfl player. suffer a concussion? if docs say your level o' concussion requires an mri, then you are getting an mri if you wanna stay employed in the nfl. sure hippa prevents your medical records from being shared w/o your approval, but as an nfl player if you don't wanna share med information with your team, you can go use your football skills elsewhere, perhaps becoming an all-time great ups driver or somesuch. the current group o' nfl players who is routine needing provide medical info to their teams but who is balking at nasal or oral swab testing to help limit the spread o' a deadly disease is hypocrites or profound stoopid. etc. HA! I also find myself watching these shows at times .....they do fascinate me and they always present such credible evidence but then I wonder if you do your own research is it true and what do other people think about the reason for certain ancient examples ? And I have done that on several occasions where I feel compelled to pause the show and do about 30 minutes Internet research to assess of veracity of what they talking about it. And I always find other credible theories generally which is normal....yet it kind of ruins the experience of the show so I normally stop doing it in the future But sometimes the examples of alien intervention has to be confirmed because of the significance of the suggestion, for example the idea that the pyramids were " definitely " built by aliens because it was impossible for man at the time to have created structures with such precision using the resources at the time This has been proven to be absolutely false, Egyptologists have confirmed many times that the ancient Egyptians understood how to transfer blocks of stone and did understand the architecture that created the Pyramids so their is no mystery to " how the pyramids were created " Anyway no need to research these shows because it just destroys the fun side of what they saying3 points

Soccer was massively popular as a youth sport when I was a kid and I'm creeping up on 40 now. I don't think it'll ever be like it is in Europe because it's not part of our culture in the same way I played soccer growing up but as we got into higher grades you had competing sport schedules so you couldn't run track, play basketball, football, baseball, and play soccer so guess which sports most people dropped first when there was a conflict?2 points

"Best" - depends (as always). But I like WotEP with Offensive Parry (Vigorous Defense stacks with all of the Wizard's Deflection buff except Llengrath's Safeguard which makes parrying melee attacks rel. easy). And you can deal AoE*AoE damage with Clear Out. Citzal's Spirit Lance is also a strong contender bc. of Clear Out. I also like the Willbreaker bc. you can lower enemies' Fortitude so much for certain spells - especially with Clear Out. Oathbreaker's End and Amra are also very good. The first one with Mob Stance (chances for a chain of kills via enchantments) and the second one has a Carnage effect. If you use Clear Out you will push the enemies into their own Carnage AoE which will result in a lot more damage - combine with Riven Gore and Mob Stance. Great Swords like Voidward: also cool. Engoliero do Espirs is an awesome weapon for any damage-oriented caster. Blade Fest procs of off every kill (be it caused by weapon or spell) which can cascade into multikills. And an Estoc is also cool because as a Devoted/Wizard you can gain very good PEN/AR ratio due to high starting PEN, Devoted passive, modal and Expose Vulnerabilites (maybe combine with Blackened Plate to reduce AR even further). Against pierce-immune enemies just resort to spells or summon Draining Touch and call a Phantom. In general every weapon that gives you some kind of timed buff is great for a Battlemage bc. of Wall of Draining. That's why nothing might beat Scordeo's Edge with Blade Cascade and Wall of Draining. It's boring but that's how it is. It even benefits the casting recovery and accuracy (Adaptive).2 points

That's just for anime on Netflix, because the German subs are better - overall, just not always - than the English ones, and Netflix neatly pairs sub settings with language settings. It takes until episode three for noticable changes to happen to Violet. While I really liked the second episode (and the first one), there are a lot of watchers who didn't, and almost dropped the anime - or actually did - because of them. How does the manga compare to the OVA and the TV show, is Miyu noticably different, and would you recommend the source material over the adaptation? How does the artwork compare, and most importantly... The only way you could suck at it was if you were going in the wrong direction. If that's a fan-translation or an official one that did not change the reading direction it's a bit weird to deal with at first.2 points

Yeah, silver would've made a lot more sense. I'll try another episode either today or tomorrow...or never, . In other news, I read the first manga (book, chapter?) of Miyu, my AMA (ask me anything) starts now...and it thus concludes, because I don't think I could answer any questions about it anyways because that was just about impossible to make sense of* - I think the TV show and even the OVA do a better job of communicating than the manga does (particularly because many of the action scenes are just haphazard scribbles that I can't really follow). Thank you all for coming, have a wonderful day! *It's also distinctly possible that I am just the bad at reading manga.2 points

While Violet really does say "adaman" in the Japanese original, she uses it to describe the metal her arms are made of, not to specify the metal they are made of. That is actually "gin", which just means silver. She said her arms are made of hardened silver (literally adamant silver, or adamantine silver - both of which are somewhat clumsy). Silver isn't a terribly sturdy material in itself, but it is mostly safe for medical use, unlike other metals. I mean, fully functioning prostheses in a late 1910s setting aisde*, the fantasyland aspect isn't really meant to be there. If anything, that piece of information conveys that her arms are most likely unfit for actual miltary use, neatly explaining why the setting doesn't have cyborg soldiers and why she was discharged. The joys of translation. Talk about taking the original meaning and turning it upside down. *They are mostly used as metaphor anyway, even though it might not look like that after just the first episode.2 points

sorry, to clarify, the problem when it was super common was that you crit-gibbed an enemy. something about the gibbing (which already interacts oddly with some effects like cipher transfer spells) would clear item properties. i think they fixed like 99% of cases, but i don't know if the remaining 1% still has to do with crit-gibbing an enemy.2 points

decades past, we worked a few summers in high school for a maintenance crew which were employed by a housing development. all kinda different jobs. we were used mostly for roofing 'cause we had that weird indian height indifference. 'course we also got stuck doing painting o' houses, which included the prep work. prep house to paint requires strip old paint and to achieve such we used electric rotary sanders. wear a mask and we still ended up with black snot at the end o' the day 'cause the masks never fit perfect when you were doing improbable kinda stretching and reaching and you inevitable knocked the mask askew while on a ladder and with one arm holding the sander and one on the ladder or building, mask adjustments were impractical. worse, you had to take off the masks eventual and all that sh!te were still in the air. more peculiar for us were the behavior o' coworkers at the start o' summer when we did weed eating o' fire breaks. a tractor would knock down tall weeds, kicking up great plumes o' dirt and dust. amusing 'cause we always had to be aware o' the tractor starting fires. had a small dedicated water truck with us to put out fires the tractor started. along with the tractor, two guys would knock down areas o' dry weeds with industrial strength weed eaters. were always rocky or inaccessible areas the tractor would not reach. protective gear were goggles or sunglasses, earplugs (maybe), snake chaps (they went from ankle to knee and were cloth but with a copper mesh between the layers o' fabric), and particle masks. most o' our coworkers did not use the masks 'cause it made breathing more difficult, were hot and eventual the rubber straps gave you a headache. the guy running the tractor (he were in his early 40s but looked like he were in late 60s,) liked to smoke (we kid you not) while he operated the tractor meant to create firebreaks. we used the mask religious and still coughed up evil too frequent for us to be happy 'bout it. just being in proximity to the tractor meant taking off the mask to get water or fix a busted weed eater resulted in the swallowing o' dust and worse. 'cant imagine how bad it were for our coworkers. people is all nuts. HA! Good Fun!2 points

Hello everyone , I am playing solo with the Thundercat build from @Not So Clever Hound, and he is really great. Then I had the idea to go with a Bear instead the Cat, to do a more tanky build, but until I got WoD the duration of the shift is too short, and then it’s a bit pointless to lose the cat speed buff , since I can just cast Spirit Shield and have high AR anyway. And if I go with a Shifter? It wouldn’t be a good combination with Wizard because I can’t cast while shifted. If I use the wizards buffs before shift I think it will be a waste of the other spells. Shifter + Rogue? Won’t be able to extend the shift, but I can pass almost entire fight using all shift forms, and have the good damage abilities from rogue Shifter + Barbarian? Able to heal the frenzy’s self damage and good damage from barbarian too Shifter + Paladin? I think the Goldpact buff with the shifter forms and zero recovery would be a great tank, and with all the paladin defense bonus would be a win/win I guess. Don’t know about a solo run with this anyway. Please, give me your thoughts about this, and if anyother class have better synergy . Thanks1 point

The 'funny' thing about the ISIS blitzkrieg were the Toyotas (well, Ford in the most famous case) that were advertising random plumbers and the like because they never got the sign writing removed when the CIA shipped them off to help the 'moderate opposition' in Syria- though not quite as funny as the US government having the balls to ask Toyota how ISIS were getting them when Timber Sycamore existed.1 point

The German subs on Netflix very clearly state "made of silver" (well, Silber, as it were). The German dub, funnily enough, uses "Adamant" which in German is just an archaic word for diamond or any other really hard but otherwise unspecified substance, unrelated to X-Men's Adamantium. I get why the dub is like that when you're trying to lip sync, but for animation, uhm... yeah, it's not like Violet actually forms her words accurately. Dubbing teams ain't what they used to be, man. Damn shame, damn shame. The actual voice cast is pretty good though. Would be interesting to see what the Blu Ray subtitles have there. They are different from what I've seen in videos about the show. German subs on Netflix generally do a good job of transporting what is meant, as long as they're actually made from the original Japanese. Because sometimes you get subtitles that were hastily slapped together from an English source, and then you end up with the literal meaning of "die Fackel tragen" (carrying the torch) in your subtitles, and you only really know understand what's going on when you realize this is a literal translation of an English idiom. Which for me isn't an issue, in such cases I just switch to the English subs, but eh, that's not entirely the point of having native language subtitles in the first place.1 point

Amira's Wing as 5% chance of prone (sounds fun on a SC Cipher) on Hit and a 10% healing received bonus (not that important for backrow, but still nice. Basically 10% more defense for long fights). This or Rod of the Deep Hunter is probably a matter of preference (debuff per hit also sounds fun with SC Cipher). Amira's Wind also has an alternate upgrade for +5 deflection instead of prone. +5 Def and +10% healing sounds even... good for a front row ? Only issue is you can't engage. But standing in front while poking every target 8m away sounds like a valid playstyle. Granted the access to spells, it feels a good choice for a Black Jacket. Also is mutually exclusive with Thunderous Report... which is great, fun, and per encounter. I would only pick Wild Shot with an Arcane Archer.1 point

"But still anti doping regulations are codified both by internal country laws and internationally. It's not like some sport organization does it on it's own." Individual sports organizations determine themselves what substances are prohibited in their sports. Individuals that for medical reasons need to use those substances need to prove that to WADA and their local doping organizations.1 point

"Last year, in an analysis for The European (in German), I referred to the pickup trucks as the insurgents’ equivalent of Germany’s light tank force during their Blitzkrieg campaigns in World War II. Like the German tanks in the 1940s, the images of Hilux trucks armed with machine guns and with hooded ISIS fighters on top of the vehicle serve as much as psychological weapon to intimidate opponents as they add real value on the battlefield." https://thediplomat.com/2015/10/japans-largest-company-is-isis-car-maker-of-choice/1 point

I don't see a conflict there. You're the one who seems to flip flop a bit about whether it's good or bad to have a free market economy, support entrepreneurs etc. but now that is suddenly bad and now you want the state to overrule private companies decisions. One moment you don't really like the EU and the next moment their data protection laws are suddenly a good thing. Not much point in a debate if you keep changing your mind. If I don't a work place, I'm happy to leave and have done so in the past. Edit: Explained in simple English: Yes, I do favour things like minimum wages to prevent workforce exploitation, I do favour work safety regulations to prevent workers from become a literally expendable asset, I do favour the enforcement of anti discrimination measures etc. No, I don't believe in a "top down" economy, where everything is decided by the those party members who are either the most ruthless or the most servile boot lickers. I do not believe people should be tied to hospital beds under guard while being forcefully injected with AZ vaccine. I do believe companies have the right to require people to get vaccinated as part of their employment conditions. It's a balancing act and we can disagree about where the sweet spot is between the extremes.1 point

Atleast I don't get that at home, it's just at work that I have to deal with dark boogers and phlegm. A company is constructing a new waste storage/recycling facility behind my current workplace, and we've had troubles with dust as soon as it was dry, so my boss ordered some testing equipment brought along to check the values and consult the authorities about what values are acceptable. Even he was stunned at how high tolerance they have for dust and pollutants at the workplace, because it has to literally become three times as bad as it is right now before they'll take action, and we're already having coughing and sneezing fits.1 point

Violet Evergarden: The Movie will come to Netflix eventually. It should have been released a long while ago, but the pandemic delayed the theatric release in Japan. It only just started playing in cinemas in Germany, and in none here. So yay. Well, techincally incorrect, as it does play on and off in a small indie theatre which, next Saturday, will show Perfect Blue. Which sure would be nice to see in a theatre, but it's really remote, and... yeah, not going there alone, nah. Blu Ray coming out in three months, I think.1 point

My issue with Watershaper focus is that it is suboptimal vs single target. The beauty of other rods is that you're always 1 click away from single target mode. Also AoE bounce can bounce on a suboptimal (isolated) target. Don't get me wrong, it certainly works well much of the time, but as a general rule, I like unconditional stuff the most. It's a bit my playstyle (and strand of favor abuse is definitely not ) Ranged weapons can bounce during Whirling Strikes, I just don't get exactly where the additional hits are made. Seems to be within the original 1.5m area. I think Mortar can hit stuff out of the original area, which is good because a single hit from WS cause the full bleeding effect. A minor note about Bouncing weapons : the damage reduction does not come from driving flight but is intresic to the weapon. Most weapons (which bounce only due to abilities such as driving flight). Watershaper focus has a 75% bounce value. 1st bounce is 75%, the second is 75%x75% (confirmed to be multiplicative). Not sure there are many weapons in this case. PS : And I'm planning to side with Furrante this run, so no Scordeo's Edge1 point

I had fun playing an assassin bellower using the blightheart arquebus. You attack from stealth with the gun, then go invisible with smoke veil, and then attack from stealth with an invocation such as Her Revenge. Between the assassinate bonuses and the bellower's increased PLs your attacks will melt most enemies. And with blightheart, you get a phrase back for each kill, so you can just repeat the above until everyone's dead. It's great fun if you like the solo sneaky approach to the game. However, if you try this, don't upgrade Blightheart to level 3 (by killing 10 enemies with empowered attacks). This is because corrupting beauty breaks stealth, and makes the weapon unusable for this toon.1 point

If I recall correctly, this thread discussed getting a huge AOE with watershaper's focus using a SC soul blade with shared nightmare, with a huge amount of focus, achieved by extending the soul blade's increased focus after melee kills using the strand of favor.1 point

Try SC Monk with Watershaper's Focus (best rod imo) and Whispers of the Wind. Keeper of the Flame (watch out: self damage by fire) + Fire in the Hole imo. Dual AoE*AoE - and Fire in the Hole jumps 2 times (including AoE). Fire in the Hole + St. Drogga's Skull is also nice. Scordeo's Edge + Current's Rush if it's a lot of enemies. If Current's Rush goes into a crit chain all enemies can die from one single(!) shot.1 point

If it's a mouse boss I got say we need parts from Meowser buried in the haze. What better way to dispatch a mouse than with the bones of it's mortal enemy. If you want to scale down the size go with a mole, vole or a shrew. It's still got that nice mouse vibe but I have scene wolf spiders and orb weavers especially those gold and black garden ones that are bigger than them. Given the brood mother I don't think it would be much of a size concern.1 point
